Opinions de The Annie Houston
Went for restaurants week, food was amazing. They give you good size portions , drinks were creative, excellent service and a beautiful decor. Highly recommend trying.
5 hundred stars. Absolutely beautiful atmosphere, stellar staff (Michael was wonderful!), and complimentary valet! I had the Mushroom Rigatoni and it was amazing. You could taste every single flavor. I will most definitely be returning!
I visited this beautiful restaurant for the first time this past weekend for a friend's event taking place here. Loved it! Our server Natasha was absolutely amazing! She had the best attitude and always so attentive while we were there. We were able to meet Mike the manager and he was so kind and amazing as well! The food and overall experience was truly enjoyable not too mention the restaurant itself was so pretty! The vibe was perfect and everyones service was wonderful. Wish you continued success! 🥂
We had a wonderful brunch celebrating my sister's birthday. Some of our favorite dishes were the french toast, lemon ricotta pancakes, and blueberry muffins. The cocktails were also delicious. I loved the Telluride Flatliner. Shawn made us feel extra special surprising my sister with a complimentary birthday dessert, shots, and even let us try some chocolate cake. He was very friendly and checked on us often. He even showed us a tour of Turners and their hidden speakeasy Emilia's Havana. We can't wait to come back soon. Thank you again for making our experience extra special Shawn. :-)
Lovely location and beautiful ambiance. Touch of class. Cheers to our waitstaff Scott for providing a memorable experience. We had: Starters- Ahi Tuna Ceviche (not acceptable) w/Avocado, Mango, Pico de Gallo, Jicama, Citrus Broth & Tortillas Duck Prosciutto w/ Huitlacoche Duxelles, Truffle (superb) Bacon Wrapped Quail w/ Jalapeno & Buttermilk Fried Legs, Molasses & Spicy Ranch Ended off with: Bread Pudding (bright back childhood memories) w/ Toasted Walnuts & Caramel w/ Fresh Strawberries
.Annie Cafe is one of my favorite restaurants in Houston. I've visited this place for several important occasions, and they never disappoint. The atmosphere is incredible, the music and ambiance are always on point, the staff is always friendly and willing to serve you in the best way possible, the food is incredible with beautiful presentation, and the drinks are delicious. Highly recommended: Tortilla Soup! Update: The weekly specials are incredible, Thursdays are beef tacos and they are exquisite!!!
I loved the place and the food. The service was great as well. I went at lunchtime, and it wasn’t very crowded. It’s a very nice place to sit or invite a group of people. I loved the crab tostadas, jumbo lump crab cake, and the filet mignon steak. The dessert was really delicious, especially the pecan tart.
Came to the Annie twice, one for galentines and another for my birthday. Both times, it was a delight. Service is top notch, someone's always refilling your water and asking about how things are. Now let me say generally American food is not on my top cuisines, so this was refreshing pleasure, the basics staples were all cooked well and with excellent pairings. Their Scottish salmon was so delicious I got it twice, same for the mushroom soup. Another favorite of our table was the coffee rubbed steak. Ok, lastly the espresso martini deserves a paragraph of its own. They're dangerously good. I had 3 and have no regrets. The restaurant is large and spacious and decorated beautifully, true to its "in post oak area" nature. Lots of photo op places. Looking forward to coming back!
I can here based on a recommendation and overall I really enjoyed it. Valet parking in the front and well-lit self parking directly behind the restaurant. You have to walk up two flights of stairs to get to the eating area. The food was great, drinks were great and the service was great. I really have no complaints about the place.
We enjoyed all the food we had at The Annie. The service was quite adequate. We were a large party, so they moved quickly to help us all. They were all very courteous and friendly. Appetizers we had were the crab tostada, mushroom quesadilla, sliders, shrimp cocktail, and tuna ceviche. All great options to start a meal. The smallest portion was the crab tostadas. The largest portion was the tuna ceviche. We also tried the ceasar salad, which was a typical ceasar salad. A MUST TRY, if you like mushrooms, is the mushroom soup. It was the best mushroom soup EVER! The chicken tortilla soup was a nice comforting bowl of yum. But the Alstar soup is definitely the mushroom soup. Its flavor was so complex, and the mushroom flavor was intense in the most magnificent way. For our main course, we tried the salmon, chicken, and filet mignon. The salmon was good, accompanied by zucchini. The chicken was a bit dry, but the sauce it came with was delicious. It also came with some delicious roasted onions and potatoes. The favorite of the night seemed to be the filet mignon. It was so tender it melted in your mouth and tasted like it was grilled over a wood fire. Cooked beautifully. Shareable sides at the table included French fries with an in-house made ketchup, and some perfectly cooked asparagus. For dessert, we tried the bread pudding and the berry grunt with ice cream. The berry grunt was warm, and the ice cream melted onto. It was a perfect juxtaposition for a sweet, tart, hot, and cold dessert. The bread pudding was good, but needed more sauce or some ice cream. The Pecan tart I was told by a fellow diner was too much Pecan and tart, but not much of the filling that many enjoy in their Pecan pie. I personally was too full to try one-piece. If I were to come back, the perfect evening meal would start with the crab tostada, followed by the mushroom soup, then the steak with asparagus, finishing up with the berry grunt.
I really love this restaurant! The service is amazing — the staff is always friendly and attentive. The food is delicious every time I come here. The place is beautiful, both inside and outside. I absolutely adore their bread pudding. I’m ready to come back again and again just for that! I’ve visited a few times, and everything is always great. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good food and excellent service!
This place was one of the highlights of my trip to Houston. Beautiful, elegant interiors with absolutely first class service. Staff were warm and friendly but not intrusive. Gorgeous crowd of local people in attendance. Tried the wrapped quail breast and their famous crab tostadas, all superb. Cocktails and mimosa service were fun and creative. Could not recommend more highly. Treat yourself and go for brunch... you will not regret it!
This was such a fantastic experience. The food was so good with some delicious flavor pairings. They had some of the best caviar I have ever had and the presentation was beautiful. It also comes with a little surprise of chilled vodka on the side that actually helps to cleanse your palate. All in all the atmosphere, service, and food was 10/10 and I highly recommend you check this place out.
Such a cute place! The decor is gorgeous. Everyone is so kind - the hostesses, our waitress, the runners, and most definitely the GM, Shaun. The best service! Our food looked picture perfect (my pictures do it no justice), and tasted even better than it looked. The crab tostadas… delicious! Bacon wrapped quail… 10/10! I got the shaved prime beef sandwich and did not regret it at all, and that sauce that came with the fries… I wanted to buy a whole bottle of it lol! For dessert I got the vanilla bean cheesecake… it’s making my mouth water just thinking about it right now. 🤤😅 I’ll be coming back for a date with my husband and maybe even check out their hidden speakeasy. 😉
We just went for Thanksgiving dinner and it was fabulous. It was a bit of a splurge, but holiday menus are like that, indulging. It was a great idea to have cookies and cider for when we waited for our table, we stayed plenty happy with the comfy space by the bar and our treats, and just waited a few minutes. Everything was served promptly and with beautiful presentations. I hope the kabucha squash soup is part of their regular fall menu! I super enjoyed it! The apple pie with vanilla ice cream was light and delicious to finish a wonderful meal. My little one ordered the prime rib and I think it was just as big as the dad's (for the kid's price), and he crushed it, he was in heaven and said this was a 5 star dinner 🤩🤩 I agree! I recommend this place for a special dinner, even a holiday dinner, it was perfect!
My family and I went here for the first time and we were really happy with the overall experience. As far as the atmosphere/ambiance, you’re not going to find a nicer place. This is definitely an upscale dining experience and they do what they do very well. This a good place to take someone to treat them to something nice. Depending on how nice the places are that you frequent there is a very good possibility this could be nicest restaurant you’ve been to. It’s that swanky. The service was really good. No shortage of staff as you see with some places. Only reason I didn’t give a 5 star is because there were several times our cocktails sat empty for a longer than necessary time. The cocktails are really good by the way. The food was really good. We ordered the Salmon (amazing) a chicken dish (amazing) some bacon wrapped quail (amazing) some ceviche (amazing), pecan pie (amazing), apple rum cake, (amazing) biscuit and jam (amazing) and a variation of a chicken fried steak, this dish was the only reason I didn’t give a 5 star on the food, the beef on this dish was cooked a bit to much. It was good, but not to the same standards of everything else. All in all…. 4.9999 Stars. We will definitely be coming back. And it’s absolutely a place you should try if you haven’t been here. Glad we came! The McCarthy’s
We made a reservation by phone for eight people on the same day. It was nice to have a seat for 8 people. The staff were all friendly. All the food was delicious and the children ate it well. The Lamb Chops I ordered was perfectly baked, odorless, and the sauce was perfect. Oysters was fresh and delicious, too. Cheesecake was the best dessert to my taste. The lighting of our seats was a little disappointing to take pictures of the food, but overall, I was very satisfied.
I’m big on service and I had very good service here. My pom martini was delicious. The tortilla soup was horrible. It tastes like tomato soup. The manager happened to come over and ask me how I liked it and I told him I didn’t care for it. He admitted that it is different and has a tomato base. He gave me the shrimp cocktail instead and took them both off my bill. The shrimp cocktail was nothing special, but the dipping sauce that came with it was delicious. The fried chicken sandwich and fries were extremely delicious. Jalapeño cheddar grits really didn’t have that much flavor and the grits were not cooked through. The berry grunt didn’t wow me. I only saw blackberries when I thought it was mixed. By the time they brought it out the ice cream was 1/2 melted away and the dessert was sitting in milk.
Our annual Galentine’s celebration was held in one of their private rooms and we ordered from the full menu. Overall, it was a good experience — though the food didn’t quite wow me the way I expected. My previous visits were much more memorable. Food: I ordered the mushroom soup (daily special), calamari, and the mushroom & goat cheese strudel. The soup was beautifully plated — very polished and restaurant-elegant — and the portion was much more generous than I anticipated. Flavor-wise, everything leaned noticeably salty. Not inedible, but enough that I struggled to eat the food. The calamari was fine — crispy, standard, nothing particularly memorable. The mushroom and goat cheese strudel had potential, but it didn’t land for me. I ended up taking it to go because I was full, and that’s where it really lost ground. The pastry suffered from being packed in a plastic container — the steam softened it, and this just isn’t a dish that travels well. My child tried it later and thought it was “okay,” which feels like an accurate summary. Service: Hosting a private event can sometimes change the dynamic, but service throughout the evening was smooth and attentive. No complaints there. Ambiance: The Annie delivers on atmosphere. The space feels polished, social, and very Post Oak — ideal for celebrations, business dinners, or a dressed-up girls’ night. The private room setup worked well for our group. $$: I spent about $70 in total without ordering drinks. For that spend, I would have expected a bit more balance and refinement in flavor. The value feels fair for the setting and location, but the execution didn’t fully justify it this time. Would I return? Possibly — but I’d order differently and skip anything that needs to travel. Also, I feel that the menu has changed quite a bit since my last visit.
Dear Annie Cafe and Bar Beverage Director/ Sommelier- placing Ruffino (retail $7 - $12) that can be purchased at any drugstore or gas station on the menu is not a good look for one of the Berg Hospitality Group's dining establishments. Please reach out to one of your distributors and replace it with a decent on premise brand, like Fantinel. Just a suggestion...but for the love of all that is sacred REMOVE RUFFINO! Wine regards, The Urban Wineaux
We had a Scottish Salmon and a Heritage Chicken subbed with Salmon. The Salmon was a bit salty, but thankfully it was crispy, so I enjoyed that. Unfortunately, everything else on our plate was flavorless. It tasted like there was no seasoning at all, especially the sauces that the Salmon was plated over. For dessert, I had the flourless chocolate cake which was so soft and delicious, I would totally recommend that! We also had the lemon cake, which was average. The service was excellent! The staff was very kind and attentive, but at that price point, I was expecting the food to have flavor to it other than salt.
We visited The Annie Café & Bar on Sunday around noon. The restaurant had just opened and wasn’t busy at all, so I was really surprised by how rushed and unprofessional the service felt. One of our dishes — the cinnamon roll — smelled and tasted like raw egg, which I couldn’t even eat. The lemon cheesecake, though, was delicious. What really disappointed me was when two girls from the kitchen came to our table, pushed my coffee aside to put down plates, and even asked me to move the menu myself. I couldn’t believe that kind of service at a restaurant with these price points. And to top it off, they add a 3% restaurant operations fee — for this kind of service?! It honestly made the whole experience even more disappointing. I’ve always thought of The Annie as a refined, elegant place, so this visit really didn’t live up to that standard.
