Don was my waiter and he was amazing! He gave us an introduction which included the average estimated cook time. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and gave recommendations without being prompted. This was such a great experience that I’m considering going back before I leave town. Please give Don a raise as he has set the bar high for all other waiters at this restaurant. The food was pretty good but the customer service provided by Don superb!

OMG Grand Lux Cafe is so beautiful. I couldn't believe it's a restaurant. Food was decent here. Service can be slow sometimes but it was due to large parties. It's a must visit restaurant in Houston.

We had lunch there today and seated at the bar. It’s a very large, beautiful restaurant. The service was good. Jessica took care of us. The food was good but I felt it was a tad pricey for lunch. It’s not chef quality but I would consider it fair. Plenty of free parking in the shopping center. Overall a food experience. Btw I ordered the Bento Box Chicken Supreme for $19.95. Best part was the mashed potatoes. The menu is expansive - I’m sure there must something else I would like. Overall it was pleasant experience; simply not as delicious as I would have preferred.

Out celebrating our engagement with family we settled on the Grand Lux and it was a very pleasant experience. All four of us enjoyed our meal and our server ķ sorry can't remember your name right now) was attentive and extremely friendly and helpful. Only downside, for me, was the bread had an extra sour-y taste not bad but not great and the lighting was lower than my preference but other than that I'll be back Nectar the Vodka Sauce Pasta and the Oreo Cheesecake were so good. My stomach still hurts because I ate it all when I shouldn't have. Gluttony is a sin for a reason.

While I have dined at Grand Alix in the last, and it's a lovely dining experience, I recently ordered to-go from them, and I was quite impressed with the order. This was a late night order, probably 30min from close, and everything was prepared in a timely manner, the ingredients were fresh, and the food delicious I have always been impressed with the portion sizes at Grand Lux, and I was curious if those same portions would translate to a to-go order. They absolutely did. The to-go attendants and chefs even thought to add a few slices of their complimentary dinner service bread with nicely packaged butter packets. They thought of everything from silverware to separated components so things wouldn't get soggy. Definitely consider them next time you want to eat out. As far as Galleria area restaurants this one actually has decent parking, a lively yet sophisticated atmosphere, great service, and incredible food. Some tips: If you like salads, their Crispy Avocado Salad is not only healthy and hearty, but it's also one of the most delicious salads I've ever had. The honey lime dressing is incredible. Not a very long wait for a group of 12, first time and won’t be the last. Food was just as good as it looks, everyone really loved the appetizers and entrées. The men’s restroom’s sink faucet is very loose, and many hvac vents have black mold ( at least they’re high ceilings ) But besides that it’s a great spot :)

First time here and it won’t be my last! Have heard a couple of times about how good Grand Lux is and decided that this past Saturday was the perfect opportunity to try it for myself. The restaurant is located in the Galleria area but convenient to get to. Around 5pm, there was plenty of parking close to the restaurant entrance. Once inside, I didn’t have a long wait for a table. The hostesses were very friendly and welcoming! The young lady that sat me at my table even went as far to ask if it was my first time there and what made me choose to dine with them today. She made me feel that she genuinely cared. It wasn’t hard for me to decide what I wanted to eat; beef wellington, roasted vegetables and mashed potatoes. Oh my goodness the mashed potatoes!!! All the food was good but the mashed potatoes were uhm uhm good!! The meat on the beef Wellington was cooked to perfection! It was presented differently than what I’m used to seeing but with this being my first time trying it, I didn’t care because it tasted better than I expected. I also ordered a side of Mac and cheese but the server forgot about it and I had to wait. It wasn’t worth the wait (sigh) It tasted like regular Velveeta shells and cheese. For some reason, I expected better. All together, I enjoyed my first experience here and plan to return in a couple of months so that my mother can experience the great food as well!

We tried a variety of dishes and walked away impressed overall with a few standout hits and a couple of minor misses. To start, the Mango Mule was refreshing and perfectly balanced; sweet, tangy, and just the right amount of kick. Highly recommend if you're into fruit-forward cocktails. For appetizers, we ordered the Volcano Shrimp and Calamari. Both were tasty, but the volcano shrimp absolutely stole the show. (Pictured but almost all eaten). Perfectly cooked. It was the kind of dish you find yourself going back to even after you've said you're full. For mains, we tried the Beef Wellington, which came with mashed potatoes, gravy, and green beans. It's not something we’d usually order, but it was recommended and it didn’t disappoint. The beef was tender and flavorful but unfortunately just a tad bit salty. The mashed potatoes and gravy were a great pairing and rounded out the dish well. We also tried the Spicy Ginger Beef and true to its name, it brought the heat. Loved the spice level, but the dish leaned too sweet for our taste. If they cut back on the sugar just a bit, it would absolutely be spot-on! The star of the night was the Sunday Night Pasta. Absolutely delicious, rich, comforting, and packed with flavor with a very generous portion size. It was hands down the best dish we had, and we’d come back for that alone. A definite must-try. All in all, a positive experience with a few dishes that could use small tweaks. Still a worthwhile visit.

In Houston for the weekend and stumbled on this place! The building is stunning and like stepping back in time. However it's not old, it's part of a chain owned by or created by the Cheeaecake Factory, which had I known I'd probably have looked for something more authentic!! Our server was wonderful and I wish I remembered her name. But all the staff were hustling. We had the Buffalo Egg Rolls - delicious, the Calamari - so so, the pork chop was perfection as were the mashed potatoes, the fried chicken I honestly thought would steal the show but.... not so much. It is good food, and the location and ambiance would bring me back. We took Carrot cake to go and it was the best thing we ordered. They have a beautiful bar of you just want to stop in for a drink.

I'm going to start by saying my experience wasn't great. To be fair, i HAD heard good things... but their AC was out and they had their staff acting like it would go unnoticed if they just pretended everything was fine.... I was hungry enough to grab a meal first though (bartenders pick)..drinks were good too...we're in there sweating and i see the upsell coming for another drink and reminded myself I didn’t have to go through any more of that mess when there's 68° temp and ice cold drinks at home...(hay comida en la casa 🤭). You have to know when to tap out.

*Long post warning* Grand Lux Café at the Galleria feels a bit like running into an old friend who still tells great stories, but has definitely lost a little sparkle since the last time you hung out. The day had some high points, but a few quirks made it one of those “glad I went, not sure I’d rush back” kind of experiences. Grand Lux Café – Galleria Edition: where the appetizers and desserts are out here doing the heavy lifting while everything else just kind of…shows up for attendance. The good first: our server Matthew (pretty sure that was his name) was on point the entire time – attentive, helpful, and easily the brightest part of the visit. The appetizers and dessert reminded me why this place used to be a go‑to spot; they came out hot, flavorful, and exactly what you hope for when you decide to fight Galleria traffic for brunch or dinner. Now for the “adventure” portion of the day: The parking -Between the congested mall traffic, the nearby construction, and everyone circling like musical chairs with SUVs, just getting into a spot felt like a side quest nobody asked for. By the time we actually made it inside, we’d already survived one full level of the game.The wait time didn’t help either. Even though the app suggested reservations weren’t really needed and showed plenty of availability, we still ended up waiting over 40 minutes to be seated. At that point, it felt less like “no reservation needed” and more like “surprise, you live here now.” Energy-wise, the vibe from the host stand and some of the staff felt a little underwhelming. Not rude, just low‑battery. Hard to tell if it was a long shift, short staffing, or just a “let’s get through the night” mood, but it didn’t match the kind of warm, upbeat atmosphere this place used to have. As for the main event: the food and drinks were…fine. Not terrible, not amazing, just ok – which is almost more disappointing when you remember how good it used to be. The alcoholic beverages landed in the same category: drinkable, but nothing that made me want to take a picture or order a second round on purpose. Overall, it feels like Grand Lux has lost a bit of the magic it had in the past – the atmosphere and food just don’t quite hit the way they used to, especially when you factor in the parking chaos and the unexpected wait. With so many options in the area, this experience definitely made me think twice about choosing this location again unless it’s specifically for appetizers, dessert, and a very patient mood.

My friend and I came here on Friday, October 31st. When I tell you less than 25 people (including the workers) were in the building, I’m not exaggerating! The ambiance was amazing, it was just missing the people to enjoy it. 😩 I ordered the French 75; it wasn’t good AT ALL! Whatever Prosecco they used, they should trash it. Next time, make it with Champagne! I should’ve inquired before wasting their liquor and wasting my time. Sigh. I ordered the Lettuce wraps and my friend had the catfish, mashed potatoes and spinach. She thoroughly enjoyed her food. Will I go back? No. Would I recommend? No. Why? I originally wanted a Chicken Caesar salad but it was $21. Their burgers are $18-20. Make that make sense to me, please! I also ordered a Cucumber Lemonade to go - $6. 🫨 So no… I can see why it was empty and judging by the recent photos uploaded by others, that seems to be the case almost daily. 🤷🏾‍♀️

We had a company luncheon here that lasted 2 hours. The food tasted great and was hot but the waitress was inattentive and very slow. I drink a lot of tea and my glass was only refilled once in that time, and I had to ask for it. Used plates were also left on the table too long until they couldn't be ignored. It's the worst service I've experienced at this restaurant.

I see why this establishment is closing down… firstly it was almost a 2 hour wait to be seated. The hostess accidentally put the wrong phone number in. Thankfully i went back in to receive the text notification. Accidents happen , so it wasn’t a big deal. We were finally seated by the waitress Kenya.T. She looked SO stressed , annoyed , and seemed overwhelmed by the amount of tables she had to service. Her morale was literally gone when she got to us and the poor thing seemed tired and overworked. We only had water for a good 15 minutes. After she finally took our order , we didn’t see her until the bill. We thought bread was complimentary. We asked a gentleman if bread was complimentary and he seemed as if we asked rudely. Saying “Well happy MLK day✊🏽Yeah…yeah I’ll get you some bread it’s all right. Are yall okay??” like we were causing an issue or something? He brought the bread and then rudely told us it’s upon request. If we didn’t start already eating , i would have made us get up to leave. We paid the bill and then asked Kenya.T if we could receive a to go box. She didn’t even answer and was clearing off the table. She took the bread while we were still eating it!The food was good but definitely overpriced! But That’s the ONLY reason why I’m giving 2 stars. The service is absolutely terrible and the wait was ridiculous. This place would stay open and do good business if they had employees to pay the part.

The food was very good. That is the only positive thing i can say. This was my 1st time being there. We went because our son turned 21 and he wanted to go because he likes the food there. But the service was not what I expected. It was a total of 8 of us there for my sons birthday. And we were told that there was a very large group in the restaurant and that's why our food was taking a very long time. When my daughters order came out it was wrong so they offered to remake it and so we were half way done by the time she got her chicken sandwich. I sat with an empty drink for a while too. I was never offered a refill. I will not be going back based on this experience.

It is a good thing this place is closing. When we walked in the young African American female host with the red hair in a bun, did not even look up nor greeted us. She was rude and pre occupied with something im guessing on her phone. The food was terrible and was not fully cooked very gummy chicken. The cocktails were super watered down. It was absolutely not worth the price. Not to mention the silverware was just bare on the table no covering and no plastic ware available. Even if this place was not closing I would not be back. Good Riddance.

This place has really gone downhill. It’s sad this will be my memory of what used to be an impeccable restaurant Edit after owner responded: This is an automated response to a complaint at a location that is closing in January. We told the manager, he knows and there is nothing he can do. I honestly felt so bad for him. They hadn't been on a wait for 2 years til they announced they were closing and now they have tons of people coming in for one last time. It just isn't the same. My food was wrong but they were nice and comped it and gave me some cookies. We were there for over an hour wait was like double what they said and it was my birthday. 30% of the staff quit and they aren't allowed to hire more. The building is falling apart, it looks like there is water damage on the ceiling, the glass bricks in the front are falling and there are cracks and pitting all in the marble
