Going to the convention center I was fully prepared to be subjected to overpriced and mediocre con food. Luckily this place saved me from that fate. Conveniently located in the convention district right next to George R Brown they sell delicious food at a reasonable price - it tastes just like when my dad grills. And of course you get it all in the middle of beautiful calm Discovery Green.

Stopped in here for a tea and lemonade. Their fruitcup was cantaloupe, Honey dew, and grapes. Their menu seemed very reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere to relax and cool off from Discovery Green.

Visited 2x. Great place near the Discovery Green Park. Fast service. Friendly and professional staff. I ordered cheese nachos, hot dog and fries for my kids. I gave 4 star for food because the kids did like the nachos much. It may have had too much cheese. So if you don't like too much you may need to tell them.

The food is cheap and you get what you pay for. The beef fajita tacos were worth every penny. The restaurant seating indoors is limited and it can be loud outside. I would grab a small plate or quick bite here again. This is not really a dinner spot or place to go and relax.

Get out of the Texas heat and enjoy a good meal while watching the views. I had the burger and fries and my wife the beef fajita taco with chips and salsa. Good eats, good views and the sweet tea was refreshing.

TL;DR ~Best place to eat at Discovery Green and GRB ~Some (not all) of the staff give the impression they don't care to be there or serve you well. Lake House is the best place for a quick cheap eat if you're visiting Discovery Green or the GRB Convention Center with a good selection and quality that matched the like of Chik Fil A. It's very pretty on the inside and very family friendly. Only issue, which appeared in a lot of reviews for a while, is that some of the staff is "rude" but mostly unconcerned with their customers. In my experience it seemed less like "thank you for coming! " and more "welp, here you go. Don't care about the homeless guy hustling customers for money" (I came at night). Overall pretty good

Me and my friend always visit this spot when we are on our Pokémon GO adventures at Discovery Green. The food is good and we appreciate the hospitality every time. I would give this place 5 stars if the cashier was a little more welcoming.

Lake House snack bar...a nice place to get some food or snacks or drinks or all of the above. A little pricey but you pay for the convenience I guess. It is certainly Johnny on the spot when your hot or thirsty. The food is pretty good, no matter what you get. They keep the restaurant clean and spiffy. The employees are very nice and helpful. I only got the fries, but they were very good. It didn’t take long for them to come out but then again they were just fries. My friends also got drinks and ice cups, they weren’t badly priced either. Would definitely come back to try some real food.

Hours say opens at 10, but the kitchen doesn't open until 11. So unless all you want is a bottle of water make sure you don't show up until 11. If you do however, walk one block to Phoenicia. Great cafe with better hours and better food.

For it's location, the food is actually much cheaper than I expected. Unfortunately on the day I went they were completely out of ground beef and I really had wanted a burger. While it's affordable it's severely understaffed and it's kinda overpriced and sluggish slow. The drinks are small no free refills for soda.

I like this option for food, but all too often it's closed during the published open hours. People walk all the way over to get food, only to find a sign on the door that they are closed. I'm going to stop going now, not worth it if they are always going to be closed when they say they will be open.

Only filled my coffee cup half way. Refused to let me charge my cell phone at an open outlet. Asked me to charge outside...checked three outlets outside and they were all shut off. Came in as a tourist and had to nurse the last 5% of my battery to charge elsewhere. We were the only customers there.

While me and my friends were downtown Houston and Decided to come here and the experience was not great we Order the chicken tenders and fries when we got it the inside of the chicken was green and the fries didn’t have any flavor , and the tables were dirty . Terrible service! Some of the employees here act as though they are too good to give any type of good customer service because of where they are located. They act as though they will always have business of their location and the traffic that comes through.

my husband and i went inside to buy a water and while i was sitting and transferring founds to my account the male cashier rudely interrupted my husband and i and stated that this restaurant is for paying costumers only. i have never experienced such rude service from this location until now. i will no longer be coming back to this restaurant because of that cashier.

12/05 2:00pm person taking the orders with the dark hair and the black eyeliner around her lips...RUDE. I walked out to spend my money somewhere else. WILL NEVER come here again. I stood in line for several minutes to place an order and she is standing there talking to someone else. I ask if I can place an order and she totally ignores me, when I walk off she screams NEXT! And my children witnessed the entire experience. Very sad. Hopefully DG will add more places to eat in the future with better customer service.

This is my first time coming here with my friends trying to figure out what to order. The employees were complaining because we sat here without ordering and one of the employees came up to us with a rude greeting. I come to this park at least three times a week and I buy 20 ounce Gatorade’s for $2.29. I’ve been doing it all summer today I went to the park and they give me an 11 ounce Gatorade in a can for $2.29 and tell me that they ran out of the bottles and this is what they are supplementing it with, but still charging the full amount!!! Had a I don’t care attitude about it when I questioned the price difference compared to the size!

Ordered lunch here while attending an event at George Brown Center. Enjoyed quick and friendly service, but the food rates well below school cafeteria food! Rubbery, frozen hamburger patty, tasteless and well, gross to be honest. The fries had no flavor, everything looked slapped together and undercooked. My wife had chicken fingers with a rubbery consistency, undercooked, and quickly tossed into the garbage. I would avoid this restaurant, unless you want quick, cheap and gross.

For Houston being considered a “foodie” city, this place was pretty terrible! The food tasted like it was just heated up from being frozen. The buns were half stale and the burger was clearly burnt. It's just like the food at any amusement park ever; terrible, but you don't have much of a choice if you are at the green, and already committed to parking. Nachos are simple to make but the chips taste weird and and the cheese is like melted cheddar. Fries are ehh just basic.
