Super chill and fun place inside and out. Dog friendly and karaoke night is incredibly lit!

Nice little bar / pub just outside of Downtown Houston. Food trucks were there on site with great food. We had a great time with great drinks, great people and a great view of the Houston Texas skyline.

Well I've been there before and I'll still will be going back I love the atmosphere of course the beer is good also and the catering wasn't bad either so they had a band tonight and it was good. Loved it

A hidden whiskey and patio gem in EaDo near the new East River development. Barely anything around it and a HUGE yard out back make this place stand out. Great whiskey selection and plenty of beer options. Very dog friendly as well!

View from the outdoor bar is great, the staff is attentive and quick, beets on tap are mostly what I'd I'd "outdoor" beers, light, juicy, fruity. And they'll definitely bring out the TV for playoff baseball.

A peaceful step away from big city chaos without leaving the immediate inner loop. Amazing views with a great drink selection and a yummy food truck. Inexpensive menus for both. Definitely worth a stop if you haven't given this place a try.

Dropped by after house shopping in the area and had a nice afternoon outside. They had chicken curry that day and offered it to everyone for free, NOLA style. It felt like a family/neighborhood cookout--vibe was great! Would definitely go back next time I'm in the area.

Absolutely love this place. The staff is awesome, the drinks are thirst quenching, the patio is basicaly 85% of the seated area. One of the highlights of the New Potato is the view of the Downtown Houston skyline ESPECIALLY at sunset. It is truely a sight.

Ryan played music here, and it was great! Nice tacos too. It's a good bar with good vibes already, but Ryan's music and the food really made it amazing. Hope to see Ryan here again soon.

A variety of eclectic spaces, mostly outside, are the highlight of this neo-Irish bar. Backyard is like being in the country, in some of being just outside downtown. (Who knows how long that'll last in the rapidly developing East End.) Good selection of beer. Limited but good food.

I host trivia here on Tuesday night. Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name. Lol this place is rad! Love the vibes and the drinks are there!

I love this place. Not only is it tucked away in a surprisingly quiet spot in town, you have an amazing view of downtown from pretty much any vantage point. The cocktail program is pretty legit, and the beer selection has a little bit of everything. There is a MASSIVE yard area for dogs/cats/micro pigs, whatever you want to leash and show up with. Show up and do goddamned cartwheels if you want (bar is not responsible for your bone headed injuries though). In summary, The New Potato is equivalent to having a sailory bearded Irish uncle who makes really nice cocktails and has good beer on tap and you can go get drunk and roll around in his back yard and have a nice view of downtown. The end.

Place is supper chill. They always have different people coming in selling different foods from tacos to pupsas even crawfish . They have different events from time to time . The more you come you will see familiar faces. Bartenders are super cool

Amazing staff, fantastic view of downtown and a “place to call home” atmosphere. I will most certainly stop by again the next time I am in town. I highly recommend dropping by to unwind and chill out for a few.

Great vibe with super friendly staff and patrons. Always a large rotation of solid tap beer and their liquor selection is admirable. Seems like there is usually good food available towards the end of the week and on weekends (food trucks, etc)

Best late night bar/pizza joint serving through late hours into the night when everyone is hungry and no one is serving anything but alcohol. They serve that too here. ;) Outdoor patio area is massive and fireplace is cozy for cold nights. It's a small indoor spot but large outdoor area for large groups works too. Great vibes. This is a fantastic place! Indoor and outdoor seating, karaoke, food, and a great drink selection. The staff is fast and knowledgeable. Security on site. Smoker area outside. Pet friendly...water bowl on the patio. Spent 2 very pleasant hours talking with my girlfriend and she agrees this our new hangout!

Super neat little hole in the wall type bar. They have beers on tap, they've got Kraft cocktails, and a great outdoor seating area. And it's pet friendly, you can't beat that!

This place has a pretty unique setup where you can have a small, intimate feel inside at the indoor bar, a couple friends getting together on the front patio, or (weather permitting) a large group event in the backyard area. They have a good selection of craft beer and a great selection of whiskeys. The bartenders are skilled and patient; multiple times I've heard a person just vaguely describe a drink they like and have the bartender, without flinching, mix together their best guess. Really friendly people all around.

Awesome staff and sweet location in the East End. The Markets every month are great! Super talented and diverse vendors. Everything from Art/Soaps/Jewelry/Honey/CBD and tons more beautiful crafts. Great place for drinks, live music and meetups. Community meet up was on gathering dress up dogs for Halloween, was great fun. The Pizza van makes some awesome thin crust Pizza that can accommodate any drinks. Great to chill out with some friend's.

If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would. Had a work event here and the place was amazing from the staff to the drinks to the atmosphere. Loved loved loved. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a chill might out with friends or looking to host a huge 100+ people event.

One of the best bars in the whole town. The old fashioned is the best you'll find in Houston and they make a whiskey sour the proper way, not with some sweet and sour out of a gun. Frequently have fun and delicious different food vendors and always have something unique on the books for the weekend. It does not have the d-bag vibe of many of the "highest rated" bars you find in searching the internet. Has all the charm of a neighborhood bar and a view you can't beat. All the 1 and 2 star reviews have the sound of your typical Karen.

Cozy interior for drinks, and summer ready exterior with plenty of benches and a covered deck area. Bartender was great, and the beer selection is fabulous. Definitely will be returning!

The cocktails here are great and the bartenders are very personable. Paul, the owner even works behind the bar too. Very kid and dog friendly. Steak night is the best here and all other activities such as 4th of July and brunch on Sundays.

The view of downtown is great. It feels like you are in some safe haven away from busy downtown, when it's actually just 10 minutes away. Would come again. They recently started inviting the food truck, which serves generous sized meals.

We got married at The New Potato this spring, and it was perfect. This little gem has an amazing view of the city without all the fuss. Paul, his staff, and even his loyal customers were super friendly and inviting on our special day. They were professional, accommodating, and made everyone our guests smile. Its unique personality and events are one of a kind. I cannot begin to state how much I am in awe of The New Potato, and I cannot wait to start having couples dates here as newlyweds. Niche eclectic atmospheres, creatively crafted cocktails, and quirky thing events are my jam. I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE!

I came here for Cirque and Destroy, a flow arts-centric event that they host on Sunday evenings... I had an absolute blast! The venue has PLENTY of room for everyone to practice with their props of choice. The crowd was kind, welcoming, and accommodating. People were willing to teach you new skills, and made you feel right at home with them. I will definitely be going back!

Both indoors and outdoors are great, nice huge back yard. Tent was recently set up for corn hole games. Cocktails are great too. Dog friendly. Food trucks every so often with crawfish, hot dogs and tacos. Worth checking out for sure

This is a super interesting and quirky bar near East River 9. The decor inside is funky old furniture. It's got a small couch, bar seating, and a high top area. There is outdoor patio seating and a covered bar. When the weather is cooler, it will be amazing. It's such a cool place in a cool area.

The drag show at New Potato was SO much fun. The drinks were great and affordable and the staff went above and beyond to suggest drinks we'd like. They were wonderful. Yes, the patio is incredible. It was easy to find, there were dogs, kids, great music, and drag queens! The New Potato has it all!

This is a very unassuming pub but I really liked it. The owner is very friendly and quick to serve. There interior is only open to order and use the restroom, you can't stay inside. There outdoor seating is very large with lots of seats and shade. I found bug spray on one of the tables but you might prefer to bring your own, not that it was very buggy. There's also a very friendly cat that comes to greet you when you go out onto the grass. There's also some really nice views of Houston. I enjoyed this pub and would come again.

The New Potato is a gem in East Houston. I’ve met some of the most friendliest people around this establishment. The owner Paul is a great person and he has an amazing staff that can shake and stir amazing cocktails for ya. They throw some of the most fun events and have good food trucks and food vendors there when possible. They also hold karaoke and trivia on certain nights as well as invite live music and DJs. I recommend stopping by at least a few times to check it out if ever in the area. Large backyard for dogs and friends to run around. It is a neighborhood bar for some so you will end up meeting some regulars, all who welcome you like you live in the area. Go on down and get you their famous old fashion and enjoy the day!

I've been going to this bar for a couple years now and it has yet to disappoint me. If your looking for something nice and relaxed, The New Potato is definitely the place to be. All of there staff is amazing, especially Justin. At The New Potato I do not feel like I am at a bar, I feel as if I'm HOME. ❤️💯

It's a great place with friendly people. Nice outdoor setting under a huge tree. Very dog friendly with a big grassy area. They could really work on their handicap accessibility, though. No ramp to get on the deck. But everyone there was AWESOME in helping out.

Awesome little bar barely on the outskirts of downtown..the bartender was very friendly and made me an awesome drink (cant remember the name of it) and the pizza truck on site was fantastic (the mac and cheese pizza stole the show!) Definitely will be back as its a very nice place to hang out, meet new people and relax. Very dog friendly!

We came here after my birthday gathering for a night cap. Street parking because parking lot is small, not a problem. Great view of downtown skyline. Nick, hands down an artist. He asked me a couple questions to gauge my preference since I don't drink much and made me a vodka strawberry sour. I love the decor and there's plenty of sitting outside. Def will stop by again. ps the chips went great with the drinks! update: I think this is our new hangout spot.

For my dog Syri and I, every Friday is a ritual that includes going to The New Potato to grab a steak from Butts n’ Stuff and having an old-fashioned as an introduction to the weekend. The staff are very kind and welcoming, the patrons incredibly friendly and talkative, and the atmosphere outstanding for people and furry friends alike. The New Potato stands as the neighborhood watering hole for the East River neighborhood and is incredibly charming; its divey atmosphere is comparable to an old friend that you haven’t seen in a while and good keep you up all night sharing stories. East River 9 may be the upscale option for food and drinks, but The New Potato is the location clearly built on relationships and hospitality that will keep you coming back every time.

This is the kind of place you go if you want to make conversation with the staff and other patrons. There is usually a food truck in the parking lot. There is a great view of downtown too.

FANTASTIC staff! The drinks were nice, some local craft beers included. Casual sort of gentrified looking location. One reason for not 5 stars, is purely an issue with lacking maintenance of the facility. Repairing a picnic table bench moments before the bride walked down the isle was ridiculous. Surely they have had groups using them before and should have been aware and on top of issues before such a critical moment.

It's a cool low key spot very small bar inside and outside bar is only open on the weekends or when there is something going on but has a beautiful view of Houston skyline. The only downside is there is only 1 restroom for men and women.

Really laid back environment. Not crowded at all, and tons of outdoor space. I would give it 5 stars, but there are a lack of fans on hot summer days. Good service, great selection, and the rotating food trucks are a pleasant surprise.

Went here for a Doomsday Wrestling event and had a good time. The back yard was pretty cool, and the outdoor bar was quick. Drinks were affordable too. Not sure where the potatoes were being sold, didn't seem like a large place. The bartender said there was an indoor bar, but we couldn't find it. I'm not sure if there were inside bathrooms, but the porta-potties weren't bad. They had like 6 beers on tap, all pretty standard.

Great bar, Awesome view of downtown, huge open space with a ton of potential. Servers were awesome, the only downside is the bar is very small and the service kind of slowed to a crawl after a big group came in.

I wasn't impressed by the place. It needs more life to it in all aspects. The interior of the actual bar was very unique but accompanied by a lifeless bartender. He was slow, not friendly and once again lifeless. He didn't seem to want to be there which killed the vibe of the place. They have a large outside patio with a lot of space which is not well used. There is a large tent over most of the green space but it's not utilized well. Maybe get some more outside games? I feel like this place has a lot of potential but more thought needs to be put into it. The white tent needs a good pressure wash as well.

It's ok. Friendly bar staff but only serve craft beer besides having White Claws, Models, and Bud Light. Inside seating is very limited. Good outside seating area. No music when I went. It's an ok low key spot if your into craft beer.

It's chill. Give it that. Open yard. Good. However, no way does it deserve 4.7 stars. $10 pizza is not even as hefty or filling. I bought two for $20 dollars, felt light as a feather walking home. You spend $20 at say any other pizza/bar here and you get a full pizza. Not this side order pizza. And beer, local beer, and not even the speciality local beer is $6. No double IPA, no saison. Run of the mill wheats and pale ales. Super disappointing. I thought it was slow from the location, uh uh, because when you go you realize you can get so much more for the same price elsewhere in town.

Nice, chill spot. Great music. Only thing- bartender either had a bad day or he’s just a douchebag. First time at the bar and there was a beer fire sale. Obviously, first time, I was unaware that in order to get that beer you had to go to the outside bar. Upon request he responded rudely, “I don’t have that beer inside-you see my beer taps, that’s what I have!” Shouldn’t advertise what you don’t have available on tap if it’s that bothersome.

The chef brought a crock pot full of mashed potatoes outside that was planned to be served buffet style that evening to customers. I watched him put his bare hand into the top of the mashed potato mound and then taste it. Major food safety violation and if he was doing that in plain site of customers I can't imagine what he must do in the kitchen. Also this place has a lot of great liquors but the bartender complains if you ask for any cocktails he doesn't know of. That's the point of a full bar, you should be happy to make new drink ideas for your customers right?

Went there for the first time. Heard about the place so I went I was charge more than what ask( there was some Og npt) and even gave a tip. The tip would have been higher but they wanted to add their own tip. Two stars only I can give but the guy with working there made a good old fashion to bad that will be the last time I will go there.

I was there with a big group on a Saturday afternoon and the yard was great for all the kids and adults to hangout in. The service however, wasn't very good at all. The one bartender serving the entire place did not appear to want to be there. She ignored customers and even charged $2 for club soda. I would go back but would hope the service would improve.
