Opinions de Las Perras Cafe Houston
Las Perras is the space Houston has needed and it just keeps getting better. The coffee is amazing. Their seasonal house-made recipes are delicious, they celebrate culture, are well-priced, and accommodating to dietary needs. They represent the East End and the Latin community of our city. The modern living room vibe is something else I love. I come here with friends or my husband at least once a month to work, brainstorm, shoot content, and have a beautiful experience. Social-justice, healing and community focused space, Las Perras can have all my $$ for life.
AMAZING local coffee spot. The interior is gorgeous and authentic. The vibe is bright, earthy, and one you could read a book in or gather with friends and colleagues. Lovely spot for groups of all sizes! I had a wonderful iced matcha with cold foam made to perfection. I really liked that they offered flat white sizes for the matcha too as love my drinks to be more potent. The rich earth tones paired wonderfully with the balance cold foam. I'll be back for the fresh conchas next time too. I didn't take photos of the whole space out of respect to the other customers but it's a big space with tall ceilings and great artwork. Parking is a little tight so share a ride and help reduce smog while you're at it.
Hands down my favorite coffee shop in Houston! The matcha is so amazing and the staff is super friendly. My fav is the matcha with the banana syrup + crème brûlée cold foam! 😍 I definitely recommend stopping here if your in segundo barrio!🫶🏽
If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would! Always such a great spot to grab some coffee, relax and read, or catch up with your friends. Yummy coffee & picturesque decor. Love the community feel of the place. They are welcoming and warm!
I love this cafe! The vibes are everything and the staff is always so warm and welcoming. I love that they are now open late for drinks and so far love the Jamaica mojito. One of my favorite cafes, excited for more events too to be here!
The ambiance is unparalleled. Not a huge rush of people. It's such a beautiful space to relax in and think. It's such an oasis and the drinks are so yummy. Plus it's always the best supporting Latina owned businesses!
🍵🥐 Such an Amazing Experience at Las Perras Café ☕️ 🍪 A soulful, community-rooted space in Houston’s East River District I visited Las Perras Café for a Her Texas women-owned business meetup at 10 AM… and ended up staying until 3. That’s how beautiful and welcoming this space is — I truly didn’t want to leave. 🌸 The Vibe & Atmosphere Walking into Las Perras feels like being transported to another place. Warm pink distressed walls, handcrafted wooden tables (made by the owner’s father), lush greenery, and vintage touches make the space feel both lived-in and loved. The natural light, cozy corners, and layered textures create a calming energy that makes it easy to stay awhile. Whether you sit indoors or on the patio, it feels like a sanctuary for community and creativity. 🪴 The Story Behind It Andrea, the owner, is from El Paso and spent four years selling handmade bottled teas and coffees at local markets — each one named after an activist she admires. She eventually bought the café from Eden Plant Co. and preserved its lush, botanical feel as a tribute to its roots. Every corner tells a story — from the furniture her father crafted by hand, to the menu she thoughtfully developed. She gave me a tour herself and it’s clear how much intention and care has gone into every detail. 🌻 A Multi-Use Creative Space Las Perras is more than just a café — it’s a mixed-use creative space that hosts everything from open mic nights and poetry readings to art parties, workshops, and entrepreneur meetups. Whether you’re here to study, get work done, meet with friends, or attend an event, the space supports all of it. It’s cozy enough to feel personal, and spacious enough to build community. 🍛Flor y Miel — Authentic Latin Caribbean Food Truck parked on the patio. Flor y Miel, a multigenerational food concept rooted in Dominican heritage, operates both inside the café and from a stationary food truck on the patio. Their dishes pair perfectly with the drinks and baked goods offered at Las Perras. Their $20 lunch special includes your choice of protein and a side — full of bold, soulful flavor. It’s hearty, affordable, and beautifully complements the overall vibe. 🍵 What I Ordered I tried the oat milk matcha latte with handcrafted banana syrup — and I’m still thinking about it. They don’t charge extra for alternative milks, which is rare and deeply appreciated. They also source from green importers who support micro-lots — small, cooperative-based farms where growers work together. It’s a beautiful intersection of flavor, sustainability, and equity. 🚗 🚲🚌Good to Know • Free street parking + a lot in back • 30-minute front parking available • Metro Green Line nearby • Bike-friendly with plenty of racks • Spacious interior + patio seating • Clean restrooms • Quiet enough to study, read, enjoy a cozy hobby, or work, the music is calm and cozy ✨ Final Thoughts This is the kind of place you plan to stop by and then end up staying for hours. It’s welcoming, intentional, culturally rich, women-led, and filled with heart. Whether you’re here for a bite, a work session, a moment of peace, or to connect with others, Las Perras Café offers space for it all. I’m so glad I found it. And I can’t wait to come back.
This place is great, a cozy place to get something to eat, relax and unwind. There's so many events held here its busy but chill at the same time. The owner is a very kindhearted person.
Very kind staff I loved the decor of the place i felt very welcomed and at home. The coffee is amazing. The taro syrup is SO GOOD! It actually tastes like taro. I LOVE THIS PLACE

Absolutely in LOVE with the vibe curated at Las Perras. There’s art all around to admire while awaiting your order, as well as plenty seating to choose from. They had a food pantry right outside their door, which I truly loved to see. This is the kind of coffee shop that deserves our coins! Their Yemeni Chai is toooodieeeeforrrrr. The honey really elevates it! I had it with oat milk.

I tried this cold foam flight- it was beautiful, delicious, and for a good cause. We also tried an affogato and some oolong tea. All great! The standout was the favor of the espresso in the affogato- so goiod. I will definitely be back for coffee and vibes! Welcoming and comfy inside.
I’ve known the owner of LPC since her pop-up market days and aside from her being the best human being on this planet, she has always taken so much pride into her work, her branding, and pouring into the community. LPC is so much more than a coffee shop, it’s a family and community hub! I am not a coffee person, but I have had their matcha, teas, and taro drinks, all of which are delicious, especially the jasmine green tea! The couple coffee bottles I have tried, I have enjoyed, I will say the bottles are a little on the sweeter side (which I enjoy, personally!) The space itself is beautiful and inviting, it’s unbelievable to see how it all came together. I tried the veggie empanadas from Flor y Miel (food truck outside), which weren’t my favorite, but I will definitely try out other items on the menu! All in all, I love Las Perras Café!
Great coffee shop, the atmosphere was really welcoming and the staff was super friendly. Def will be back when I’m in the area!
Everything, every time is so good! I've loved Las Perras Cafe since their pop ups but I have to credit them for converting me into a matcha lover. Most matcha I've had tastes like dirt but the baristas at Las Perras really take the time and technique to make a great matcha. I recommend a black sesame iced matcha with vanilla bean cold foam, you will not regret it!
Favorite coffee shop in the 2nd Ward. Always coming up with creative drinks along with a fun variety of mugs. Lots of space for events and meeting with friends. A food truck to order from. Now they even serve cocktails! Been following this cafe when it was just a pop up. Andrea always standing on business
Authentic coffee shop in the heart of segundo barrio. Curated cocktail menu, fresh & yummy tapitas , and their matcha is the one not THE TWO. Owner is THAT GIRL, and their staff is the sweetest. Morals n values of this establishment align 100%. Support local ♥️
First time here I attended the Amanda Seales event that the owner held. Ever since the coffee and vibes have been amazing. It’s a great place to study work or read. I love the blueberry matcha and hot cocoa. It’s very cozy and a great way to support Latinx owned business in Houston.
Las Perras Café is such a powerful gem in our community! This incredible woman-owned business brings culture, creativity, and connection together in the best way. The drinks are bold and thoughtfully crafted, the atmosphere is fun and vibrant, and the location is perfect. You can truly feel the passion and empowerment behind this space. Houston is lucky to have it!
Las Perras is truly for the people of Houston. They demonstrate deep care for our communities, all while serving delicious coffee and pastries! I need to go try the cocktails soon, too! Their strong stances on human rights issues is exactly why I support them so much. It’s a place for joy, fun, safety, community, education, and truth! Thankful for Las Perras and their incredible owner!!!
My favorite coffee place of all time. I’ve been supporting Andrea since she sold her bottled cold brews at Little red Grocery. She puts so much thought and love into these drinks. They’re all so unique with great flavor. I make a 30 min drive from my house just to go to her shop. It’s always worth the drive. I love supporting a business where the owner is truly passionate abt her business and well being of her customers.
Great coffee and yummy food options. We had a small book club meeting here and it was great, good seats we could move around. They offer a lot of cute events, we saw them setting up for one and asked info, they were very sweet and informative and even invited us to stay (although we couldn’t). Would always go back and support!
Best authentic coffee experience ever! The cortado is spot on, and Andrea the owner knows coffee well, the atmosphere is bomb and so much space for creativity, their art and community events are what Houston needs.
One of my new favorite coffee shops. Recently came for an event on the weekend and loved the space. Can not wait to come back! I didn’t get to try any coffee but I did have multiple Peach Oolong teas while there and they were beyond refreshing!!!
I like it. Usually stop by in the mornings. Great food so far. Coffee is so delicious. Too bad no free refills, but oh well. Never tried food from Dominican spot though. Nor tried food from food truck outside. Anyway great place so far. Just had banana bread, it was delicious.
Honey matcha w/pistachio milk - 10/10 - Best honey🍯 matcha ive had and matcha was strong Banana matcha w/vanilla cold foam - 8/10 - Matcha was so good but barely had banana🍌 flavor Gingerbread latte w/pumpkin cold foam - 6.5/10 - Foam was good but coffee had a sour taste, and didnt taste like gingerbread Maple pecan latte w/pistachio milk - 7/10 - More on the bitter side, i liked the bits of pecan but didnt taste much like maple Hot cocoa - 9.5/10 - Loved the spices in this🍫 Gingerbread cookie - 7/10 - Kinda hard but gingerbread flavor was nice and lightly sweet Pumpkin concha - 8/10 - Soft and moist🍞 with a nice coating but didnt taste much like pumpkin Las Perras has some really good matcha 🍵 so if youre in the area, stop by to try it! They have many syrups and foams to choose from as well. Their coffee ☕️ is on the more stronger/bitter side so if you like that then you might like the coffee!
Ordered an iced latte - maple brown sugar with honey and vanilla cold foam- added an extra shot- it was delicious! The service was a little slow but that’s ok cause the vibes of the shop were nice .

This is my second time trying this coffee shop. It’s not particularly welcoming and the drinks are mediocre. The chai barely tasted like chai. This is a really beautiful coffee shop, though!
Good drinks. The plants create a beautiful, relaxing ambiance and the food outside is delicious but takes a while. My only complaint is the customer service. We got the most miserable looking and sounding barista. It was too difficult for her to say good morning or smile back. There were other workers that seemed pleasant though. The workers at the food truck were a lot nicer! They checked up on us since we sat outside.

I like the aesthetics of the place and that it’s very latino and anti-ice. The coffee was aight though and it feels like you’re paying for the aesthetics more than anything. Didn’t try the matcha, maybe the matcha is where it’s at
Very beautiful inside layout. I did not care for the drip coffee. Wasn’t fresh or hot. Just wanted 1 cup. I ordered also 2 conchas and some matcha drink for my friend. It came out to $16 dollars and some change. Then they said they didn’t ring up the matcha drink after I paid. So, a day after I am thinking why did it cost $16 for a drip coffee and 2 concha?
As a proud Latina and a huge fan of Latin American coffee shops, I always try to support local businesses that celebrate our beautiful culture. I was excited to visit this coffee shop, and there is so much to love here! The decor is absolutely amazing, it is vibrant, warm, and truly reflects the spirit of Latin America. The atmosphere was calm and peaceful, especially on a weekday morning when it wasn’t busy at all. However, I do want to share some feedback that I hope the owner finds helpful. When I walked in, the barista didn’t greet me or offer much help, which was a bit disappointing. A warm welcome goes a long way in making customers feel at home, especially in a space meant to celebrate community and culture. I also found the coffee to be on the pricey side. What stood out most was that they couldn’t accommodate my request for a half-decaf drink without charging me for four shots, which felt unreasonable. I’ve been to hundreds of coffee shops over the years, and I’ve never had this issue before. It’s usually an easy and common request. I truly appreciate the vision behind this place and hope my comments can be taken in the spirit they’re intended, to help improve the service so it matches the beauty of the space. I look forward to giving it another try in the future!
This coffee shop is so cute! Super nice ambiance and the barista was really nice and sweet. Unfortunately their drinks aren’t great :/ Paid almost $20 for two matchas and they were so disappointing and watered down? They tried to mask this by adding more sweetness and it tasted like a watery sugar drink. My sister ordered a chai and same thing. It tasted so watery and had no flavor. The drink size is so small for price you pay as well. Maybe I need to try their coffee instead but wouldn’t recommend as a go to matcha spot.

I decided to give this place a try after seeing it on TikTok, but it was a huge letdown. I ordered an overpriced iced matcha with almond milk, and it was honestly the worst matcha I’ve ever had. It literally just tasted like almond milk with some matcha powder thrown in, no flavor, no balance. Definitely do not recommend and won’t be coming back. 5.27.25 RESPONSE TO COMMENT I appreciate the detailed explanation. I understand the effort that goes into preparing each drink and respect the focus on quality ingredients. That said, I’ve ordered the same almond milk matcha at many coffee shops around Houston, and unfortunately, the one I had at your shop was the least enjoyable in both flavor and texture. I wasn’t expecting it to be sweet, I don’t usually add syrups, but I was surprised by how flat and watery it tasted compared to others. I also understand that almond milk can mute favors, but even so, the result was for below what I’ve come to expect. I wish you continued success, but I personally wouldn’t return based on this experience.
