Next time will order the fish and the crispy chicken again!! So goooodd 👍👍 ————————————————— I just visited again yesterday after not coming for 7 months. Unfortunately, this visit felt quite different from my first experience. I ordered the fish soup and calamari. The fish was overcooked — it had no texture and fell apart easily when eaten. It also wasn’t served very hot. The calamari wasn’t crispy and was too chewy. However, the service was good and the staff were friendly and attentive, which I appreciated. I was a bit disappointed with the food this time, as I had a much better experience before. I hope the quality and consistency can be improved
The Szechuan Chinese food here is delicious. Flavors are overall deep, hot, spicy and freshly prepared. Unique options like bullfrog. The parking lot is full as it is shared with other restaurants and retail stores. So be ready to walk or circle to find a good spot. Clean interior. The front door was stuck so that was annoying. Not a very attractive location but the food is worth it. The service was fast and attentive. Would recommend if you like Szechuan Chinese. I’ll be back. Note my rating system: 1 Star: I wouldn't recommend 2 Stars: Didn't hit my standards 3 Stars: Average (nothing special) 4 Stars: Above Average. Would recommend. Still looking for the 5 Star. 5 Stars: Top of their game. Great food. Great service. Would recommend and plan on returning.
This restaurant has quickly become my recent favorite. What sets it apart is not just the delicious food but also the exceptional service. The waitresses are incredibly attentive and caring. They always remind my husband and me if we've ordered more than we can finish, ensuring that we can enjoy fresh dishes every time we eat.One detail I particularly appreciate is how the waitress always remembers our preferences, ensuring that my dish is placed in front of me and my husband's in front of him. The food itself is outstanding, with flavors that truly open up your appetite. Every dish is so well-prepared and flavorful that it makes you want to eat more rice just to savor the delicious sauces and ingredients. The combination of excellent service and mouth-watering food keeps us coming back for more. It's a dining experience that feels personal and satisfying every time.
A great hidden Sichuan restaurant in a less popular side of the strip mall near H mart. We ordered a few non-spicy dishes but the owner said they could make a dish non-spicy upon request. Fast service and reasonably priced for family style portions. Pork belly and red bean paste glutinous rice (appetizer) - Sweet take on pork belly as it’s mixed with red bean paste with sweet sticky rice. Tender pork belly but definitely an acquired taste to enjoy with sweet bean paste. Not a personal favorite but well cooked. Sweet & sour & spicy beef mix - Mild mala spicy beef slices and tripe in oil with peanuts, garlic, and cilantro. Not too spicy and deeply savory. Good portion of beef slices, substantial portion for appetizer. Pork slices with asparagus and wood ear - Tender salty pork slices with crunchy wood ear and chinese lettuce. Garlicy kick. A perfect dish that everyone can share. Sizzling eggplant with pork - Melt in your mouth eggplant with crispy edges stuffed with ground pork. Soy flavored pork paired with slightly sweet eggplant. Loved the various textures and flavors. Vermicelli with ground pork - Strong mala spice as the noodles absorb the chili oil. Chewy noodles with garlic and ground pork. Overall highly satisfied with quality and the portions. Would recommend.
Nut allergy friendly: They have options on the ordering app to highlight a nut allergy. Some dishes do have nuts, so I'd highlight this with the staff. Time to Food: 12 minutes (crispy chicken) to 35 minutes (squid and green beans) We arrived with a party of five around 1PM and there was plenty of seating. Order through an app pretty easily. For five people, we ordered and had a decent amount of leftovers: Sichuan Spicy Crispy Chicken (4.5/5): Extremely crispy yet not too battered. They nailed the texture and meat to breading ratio. A hint of ginger threw me off for a bit, but it was delicious. Lamb Dry Pot (5/5): Awesome blend of meat and vegetables. We loved the lotus root and cauliflower here. I'd come back and order this any day. Twice Cooked Pork Belly (5/5): A classic Sichuan dish executed very well with perfectly tender pork and leeks. Sizzling Squid (4.5/5): We were expecting something different and this was a bit too saucy for me, but the texture was fantastic and the squid was cooked well! Dry-Fried Green Beans (4/5): Flavors were there but the green beans were a tad too soggy, like they got steamed a bit. X's Kitchen / Tasty Sichuan is comparable to Mala in many ways, such as having leeks in the twice cooked pork, but they do dishes in a different style. I look forward to returning!
Really incredible flavors and variety of dishes. My favorite was the hot and sour soup with pork intestines. Incredible taste. The Sichuan stir fry chicken has the perfect texture and spice level. Very generous portions. Also enjoyed the garlic cucumber salad, unique flavor profile. Very friendly English speaking staff. Will definitely be back to try the bull frog.
X Kitchen by H Mart in Sterling Plaza at Chinatown is a culinary gem in Houston, especially for Sichuan cuisine. The freshness of the ingredients shines through, elevating the bold and spicy flavors, making each dish a memorable experience. X Kitchen keeps things exciting by regularly featuring new Sichuan items and innovative ideas, encouraging patrons to return and explore a variety of unique Sichuan offerings. Overall, X Kitchen stands out as one of the most remarkable Sichuan restaurants in town, making it a highly recommended destination for those seeking an authentic and unforgettable Sichuan dining experience.
Very authentic sichuan hot & spicy food - tastes almost identical as China! Can tell it is not preserved as some other restaurants but cooked fresh - some cooking process is very time consuming and doesn’t add a whole lot premium to the menu but nonetheless the chef sticks to the traditional way of cooking and it is much rewarded in the taste!!!
As an authentic Chengdu native, this restaurant perfectly suits my taste buds. The chef hails from Chengdu, cooking up dishes that remind me of home—fragrant and authentically spicy. I've been here numerous times and highly recommend it to everyone. This time, I tried some off-menu items: "鲜椒姜丝兔" (Fresh Pepper and Ginger Shredded Rabbit), "老妈兔丁" (Mom's Rabbit Diced), and "无骨辣子鸡" (Boneless Spicy Chicken). However, if you're keen on trying the rabbit dishes, make sure to call the owner a day in advance—they're freshly sourced from the farm and incredibly tender.
This restaurant is really delicious and amazing! Especially the lobster, it's so tasty! The service is also excellent! Every staff member is very friendly! Thank you all!
Amazing food! Friendly staff and great atmosphere would definitely recommend ⭐️
What an amazing spot! We wanted to try Sichuanese food in Houston and this place has it all! Definitely recommend the staff is super friendly and accommodating to different spice levels🌶️
I have been to over 20 Chinese restaurants in Chinatown. This is definitely one of the best that I have been to. The service, atmosphere, and food was great. I recommend getting the Spicy Pork Shoulder. It is more than enough for two people to share.
I come very far from here in Houston and its very nice that I can get some Chinese food that taste like homecountry Malaysia. This restaurant did not disappoint me. Very nice taste
LOVE LOVE the food here! New ownership, awesome service. It’s sichuan style Chinese food. The Chief came from China, and he makes everything himself, and kept the traditional flavor.

Their service is very good, and they will patiently introduce their dishes to you. I ordered stinky tofu. Beef and rice noodles are delicious. If you can't eat spicy you can let them know just do mild spicy,I will give them 10/10 if I can 😍😍😍😍

Great Sichuan cuisine! Food is flavorful - highly recommend to try steamed beef. Cool interior design and friendly service
Incredibly friendly staff, delicious food! We were provided great recommendations by our server and learned about the history and background of the Chef. Would highly recommend. We got the sizzling beef tongue and bullfrog soup. 11/10!

Great service and lots of dishes to choose from! Got the crispy spicy chicken and Yangzhou fried rice which had delicious pork bits. Big portions of each and good flavor! Chef was kind enough to put less Sichuan peppers in the chicken for us
Good pork belly skewers, starch sausage, and gualiangfen, so delicious and authentic. Lamb skewers, stinky tofu and salty plate were a bit of let down. Good service and clean restaurant.

We had beef fried noodle and sizzling beef. The noodles, sauces, and the rice was good. The beef was too soft though, there were mushy and gummy.
Came to pick up an Ubereats order. Nobody is at the counter. Been standing here 5 minutes with no worker in sight but people are here dining and it smells good
Paid 20$ for some fried fish soaked in syrup 😡 when is was supposed to be sweet and sour fish. Tasted like fried foot, Americans aren’t treated well. STOP! SAYING IT WAS VINEGAR AND SUGAR! IT WAS NOT ITS MAPLE SYRUP. And you were supposed to call me back. And never did, so why are you saying you offered me tomato base. You did not! YOU NEED A TARIFF ON THIS RESTAURANT! 135%
