We gave this Gem a try, and it did not disappoint! We tried several dishes and all of them were delicious and the portions were very generous! Our family of 5 loves to try new foods, and they had something for everyone, including vegetarian options, and indoor seating. The sweet woman who helped us said it perfectly “our menu is small but what we do, we do well!” I couldn’t agree more! Hoping to stop by once more before heading back to California to try the other menu options!
WOW! This place was great! Came here with friends for a Thursday night dinner and was not disappointed. What was pleasantly surprising was how clean the restaurant was. It was very well maintained. There was also ample seating and it was pretty empty even though we went ~7:30p. Though initially tempted by the chicken sandwich, the Peruvian fried rice was calling out to me. So I ordered it. And boy did it deliver. It was flavor packed! And such a big portion as well! Was really impressed by the flavors and loved the hot sauce that came with it as well. I can totally see this being a "cravable" dish. Overall was impressed. Staff were friendly and helpful and the food came out fast. Will be back here again
An excellent midtown Manhattan pick up! Tired of chick FIL a? Tired of Bodega chicken wings? This place rejuvenates chicken masterfully. It looks deceivingly plain, but one bite and you're transported to a open flame grill in Peru. Lots of flavor and juicy chicken while still smackin dem fingas. Definitely a place to revisit.
Love the decor and music. Very rustic and warm feeling. I ordered the 1/4 chicken, avocado salad, and a side of tostones. The first bite of chicken was SOOOOOO juicy!! Despite the chicken being well cooked/juicy it was a little on the salty side. I enjoyed the salad as well but not worth $9. As for the tostones, they give you a good portion (about 5 or 6) for $4. I was satisfied with my meal and didn’t feel gross or heavy afterwards. This is somewhere I’d be willing to come to once a week.
Omg I totally love it!!!!! The girl at the house is so nice, the atmosphere is great, the good is the best!!!! And it's so cheap, they have authentic Peruvian chefs and delicious food. This is my second time and they are keeping me alive. This is the first place in NYC that I can eat and feel like home ( Perú 🇵🇪 ). Delicious and so cheap.
Went here today 8/22/22 looking for a quick & healthy lunch to go. I tried the boneless chicken bowl with salad. I was back at my desk in less than 10 minutes with exactly what I was looking for. Plus the food was much better than I imagined. I give this place a well deserved 6 star today & recommended it to everyone.
Best option I could have asked for. Affordable Peruvian chicken. I got green plantains & 1/4 chicken. Service is pretty fast also. Great option for hungry B&H shoppers who went over their budget buying gadgets. Notably there was a table of finance dudes that look like they have a rock band on the side, going crazy over the sauces. Cool to see I think I was just as surprised the first time I was here a few years ago. I’m so full 😀❤️✌️ I would have gotten the chicken soup had I known it was going to rain this much. There’s no bathroom here, so plan accordingly.
For a small chicken joint, the flavor of the chicken is surprisingly really good. The service was excellent. The place is only a few hundred square feet for seating. The food came out quick and tasted fresh and good. Price was reasonable and the portions were very good. There is ample street parking after 7pm, apply sarcastic tone.
In Manhattan, there's a small, cozy Peruvian restaurant. It has a low ceiling and feels friendly. The food is really good and not expensive. They have tasty empanadas, chicken with mushrooms and rice, and a great mushroom sandwich. The people who work there are very nice and take good care of the guests. This place is special because it feels like a small piece of Peru in New York. It's a great choice for anyone who wants to try Peruvian food without spending a lot of money. The restaurant is welcoming and makes you feel at home.
After visiting the Edge, we were broke so we wanted something cheap 😜😜... More seriously, we didn't feel like spending too much money that day, plus we did not want to lose too much time because we wanted to walk the High Line before sunset, so we looked for a quick bite and ended up, by chance, at Chirp. It looks like a fast food restaurant, but it's not actually. You do order your food at the counter but then you need to wait at your table for your food to be prepared. And it's worth the wait: I had at Chirp one of the best meals in weeks: the sandwiches were excellent, juicy and original, the chicken (even the breast) was soft and juicy and the sides were very good. Only the soup was not hot enough. Plus a meal (no dessert) only costs about $12 per person. A pity there's no service as it simply would be perfect. I won't hesitate to recommend this place to anybody who visits NYC. Chirp is a great spot in New York if you’re a fan of chicken-focused dishes. The menu centers around chicken prepared in a variety of flavorful ways, and everything we tried was tender, well-seasoned, and generously portioned. It’s the kind of place where you can count on leaving full and satisfied. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable, making it easy for a quick meal or a relaxed sit-down. Service is friendly, and the food comes out promptly, which is always a plus. If you love chicken or just want a hearty, straightforward meal, Chirp is definitely worth checking out. It’s simple, tasty, and dependable—exactly what you want from a chicken-focused restaurant.
Wanted a quick dinner and found this place. Ordered the 1/4 chicken with white rice and pinto beans. The chicken was so tender, juicy, and very tasty and went really well with the green sauce that you have to specify when you order. Food came out fast. No fuss during the order. Good seating also. Will definitely be coming back.
New Peruvian Spot Alert! It was Saturday night and I was craving a Peruvian pork sandwich. My husband found this place on Google, so we decided to give it a try. And wow, what a great find! The pork sandwich was absolutely delicious the spicy mayo and pickled onions, OMG, such an explosion of flavors! We also tried the chicken bowl and the passion fruit tart, both amazing. And of course, everything tastes even better with an Inca Kola! Definitely coming back!
When I am on travel and time is of the essence, I look for eateries that have quick access but also offer quality and value. With this in mind, I came across this place, and gave it a try recently at lunch. It is a fairly small space, but has a few tables and you may get lucky to find a spot to sit if you can wait; there is quick turnaround with the patrons. It is a no-frills place, but offers Peruvian cuisine favorites with variations of chicken and sides that will appeal to many. I had Chicken stir fry in a rice bowl, and it was delicious. The sauce had a very savory blend of spices, and the dish was freshly prepared and was very appetizing. I am glad I stopped by here, as not only was the food very tasty, but also had the right vibe at a reasonable price. Also, a shout out to the staff working there; very pleasant and cheerful. Overall, a good place to get a quick bite in the area.
I ordered a beef stir fry sandwich, but they have me a chicken sandwich instead. They're roughly the same price and I was with people from work so I didn't push it, figuring I'd enjoy the chicken sandwich too. I did like it for what it was, but the aji verde was the only thing that distinguished it from a regular chicken sandwich as far as I can tell. The fried yuca was great though, highly recommend. The staff was nice for NYC, and it was during the lunch rush so I think they were just going fast. Overall a decent place to check out if you're in the area.
This is a Peruvian chicken restaurant that also serves empanadas. The chicken comes with sides that are typical of Peruvian food, i.e. yucca, plantain, etc. it offers a simple menu but very tasty and the sauces are pretty authentic. The seating area is nothing to write home about, but sturdy and nice. Overall, a good experience.
Had a great experience here! I ordered the creamy chicken and my fiancée had the Peruvian rice with chicken. Both dishes were full of flavor and cooked perfectly. The place is small but cozy, with a really nice vibe and great music playing in the background. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a laid-back spot with delicious food!
Place was cozy, not that many table. Menu is small but they have great choices. We went with the mostrito which is rotisserie chicken, fries and fried rice. Definitely a crowd pleaser and very filling. My husband had the lomo montado and my other son had the classic salchipapa. Everything was delicious.
This place serves one of the better tasting and good prices Peruvian cuisine in Hudson Yards. It’s near Moynihan Hall Train Station which makes it really handy when you just arrived or are travelling somewhere or you’re just on the go. Their chicken meat is juicy and tasty. I paired it with plantains and finished off with their house made flan.
8/1/25, 6:30pm Ate here for the first time and the food was delicious! I had the 1/4 chicken with white rice and pinto beans which was $12, and my bf had the Peruvian beef fried rice which was $18. The chicken was juicy and tender. I tried his dish and it was really good! When I come here again I’ll definitely order the fried rice. It was definitely crowded a bit and tables were filling up quickly so this location seems really popular
A pleasant surprise on a quiet Thursday, pre-holiday weekend. I was in the mood for something that wasn't a giant fast food chain (which is 90% of this area), and I'd noticed this little guy an avenue block away or so from my office. It's just far enough away from the chaos of MSG/Penn Station where it's not overloaded with tourists staring slack-jawed at the taxis and skyscrapers, and honestly probably a little too edgy for them anyway. Big selling point for me. I wandered in here around 1pm yesterday. Since it was the day before the 4th of July, it was pretty quiet - I'm sure most of their demo is the almighty office worker, many of whom were already presumably chilling out at the shore with their PBRs. A few people made comments within earshot that it was much less chaotic than usual, and given that there's a written disclaimer by the counter that customers should expect a 20-minute wait for the rice bowls during rush hour, I'm 100% planning to order ahead the next time I'm hankering for some Peruvian food. But on this particularly day I got lucky. There's probably about five or six tables in there, only one or two of which was occupied. Cute spot; looks pretty spiffy and given that they don't have a ton of space to play around with, it doesn't feel claustrophobic. Again, it WAS an abnormally quiet work day in the city. Maybe it feels exactly like Penn Station on a normal weekday. There were honestly a lot of options that looked intriguing. I'm not a huge rotisserie chicken person (I find bones distracting unless it's something more straight-forward like a turkey leg or ribs where you're eating off the bone versus around it, if that makes sense), which seems to be their big seller. I went with the chicken rice bowl, and opted for the accompanying Peruvian fried rice, featuring eggs and scallions. Really tasty, filling stuff - something more for the end of the week than the beginning. The inclusion of the eggs reminded me of a Thai dish, and there was definitely some spice to the proceedings, which I tend to measure in nose blows (two in this case). The chicken was flavorful and tender, and I'm assuming one of the big attributes of the rotisserie section as well. Solid portion; the only issue I had was a personal palate one - I'm not crazy about crunchy onions/scallions on a texture basis, though they're upfront about its inclusion. The women behind the counter were decently busy - they seemed to have a lot of to-go orders as well as the in-person customers like myself - but were personable and accommodating. I was expecting to have to wait a while just by virtue of the time of day, but I had my rice bowl within about three or four minutes, which was awesome. Wasn't feeling quite frisky enough to venture into the fried sides territory but I wouldn't be opposed to trying the tostadas or empanadas on a future visit. Absolutely adding this place to the midday rotation. Hopefully its more subtle location (I mean, as subtle as you're going to get on 34th and 9th) keeps the hordes at bay and limits the wait times going forward.
Chirp is a pretty good, very casual lunch spot. The menu is focused in three areas -- sandwiches, salads, and bowls (stir fry or rice). I recently had a chirp chicken sandwich that was hard to navigate -- it was tasty but the sloppy sauce made containing the chicken a challenge. I also had the Peruvian fried rice bowl, which was just average. The chicken was modestly portioned and most pieces were clearly the bits that didn't make their way into another dish (see photo for the sad little chicken scraps that make their way into the "last resort" chicken bowl). For $16 (website prices are wrong, by the way), a better product is required. Maduros (Peruvian plantains) are a good bet for sides from the (once again) incorrectly priced website menu. Ambiance is what you would expect from a place built for lunch takeout.
Bun was crispy and soft, and the chicken is cooked just right. The cashier was also quite friendly because I asked for recommendations. Tables are rather limited but I’m ok with that. Knocking off 2 stars because they have a 3% surcharge on cards. There were no signages, nor was I informed. I do have cash with me and would have appreciated a heads up. I hated when I have to the necessarily pay extra surcharge without notice. It felt sneaky.
I haven’t gone to Chirp for a while after getting an upset stomach. Today I decided to give it a try again to see whether it was their food or not and as soon as I open my chicken salad I spotted the chicken looked bad, the dressing salad also had a weird well. Not happy at all and I don’t have time to go back to the store to claim issues with what I received.
This place have good homemade taste Peruvian plates. The roast chicken is good and the spicy sauces give it the magic touch. Customer service from the cashiers is very bad. A lack of empathy and kindness to the people who actually pay money for their food. I recommend you just order online and pick up your food.
