Small hole in a wall place with the most amazing food I’ve had in a very long time. This place was packed with fire fighters and cops- the ones that work in the area and know where to go for the good food and they were right. My husband and I wanna go back just for the rice bowl. Amazing food! True New Yorkers won’t be disappointed.
From the counter to the back, including the owners/bosses. Good eats. Consistent taste. Friendly experience. Food comes out in good timing too! Especially in busy times! Like even when the order-delivery influx, I walk in and im still out on time.
Love this place. Half chicken, yuca fries, vegetables, top order
The best chicken place in The area... they also so friendly...i will always come back
This "is" Peruvian chicken the way that I know it, it is AMAZING! Wow, and the green sauce compliments the chicken. Listen👂folks no matter where you are hussle your tussle to this place for the authentic. 10 stars ✨ 🌟 🌟 ✨ 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 yummy 😋
Good Peruvian restaurant in a very convenient location, near Hudson Yards and not far from Penn Station. Food is good, and will give you lots of bang for your buck, specially for the location. Peruvian Rotisserie chicken is the specialty with tasty sauces (on the side).
I went to chirp because I thought it may be the same peruvian rotisserie place I went a decade before. Whether it was or not, still great. I ordered the chalkboard special, half chicken with 2 sides. During my questions, I think the staff picked up I was hygienic so they gave me lots of paper towels and wetnaps. They even offered gloves! It was mainly because NYC isn't the most hygienic city and I'm happy they were good to observe my needs. They offered and recommended sauce for the chicken. I had the chicken with and without sauce because I needed to taste treat both ways. Divine. Keep up the good work.
The food is served quickly but not too quickly that you question whether it's made fresh or not. The restaurant is calming and not too loud that you can't hear the person you're with speak. The star of the show is the food. I'm Canadian Peruvian so I was raised on many of the dishes that are served at Chirp. I ordered the arroz chaufa (fried rice with chicken) for delivery and it was phenomenal! Not only is the food great in-restaurant but it also travels very well too.
Their chicken is really juicy and fresh, not dried out or over seasoned, which is often the case with Peruvian chicken. The price is fair as well. I didn’t try the sauce, side orders or salads but will do so next time . Fast service, cozy atmosphere. they don’t have a public bathroom-that was the only downside.
I chose rice and French fries, but they actually have a huge number of side dishes, including salads and veggies too. You will find very little seating inside the restaurant, while the takeout order is really very fast and efficient. Muito amigável e atencioso pessoal, preços muito bons. Casa que recomendo. This is a cozy Peruvian restaurant in Manhattan offering the taste of Peru with delicious and easily affordable dishes. The friendly atmosphere will make your stay be like at home.
Hands down the ABSOLUTE best Chicken 🐔. It's Peruvian chicken and offer a ton of variety of sides. $30 you get a whole chicken 🐔 and 2 sides. My wife and I get 3+ meals EACH from that. Plus they consistently have an A grade from board of health
I worked around the corner from here and this was my go to lunch spot. The chicken is fantastic, but there's also enough on the menu to rotate and not get tired of it too quickly. The pork confit sandwich is delicious and you can't go wrong with the rotisserie chicken. And I really enjoyed talking with the owners. One or both of them are usually there, and they seem like a great team. Very friendly, and I became a regular here. Don't work in the area anymore, but will definitely go back if I'm in the area.
There spicy sauce with rotisserie chicken sooo delicious. Every Korean must be loved it . Definitely be back .
Looking to try Peruvian food? Chirp is a great place to start. We had the empanadas and the chicken sandwich and are both were fantastic. Good quality food at a reasonable price. Try the three different sauces too.
Amazing food. Shared the full chicken with 2 sides, + 1 beef empanada. Empanada was super flavorful. Rice and stewed beans came in huge portions. They gave you plenty of sauce. Chicken was super flavorful especially the crispy skin. They didn’t have any Peruvian ceviche, which I felt was the only thing missing from the menu. The inside is super casual and was perfect for our visit on a late Sunday afternoon.
I've only had the pleasure of going here for my lunch break during office hours. I imagine it would be a good place to take a date also. The staff is genuinely nice and responsive. Atmosphere is very friendly. Some where you want to enjoy yourself or with someone. Food is exceptional, also has a few good soup collection. fair price. I would recommend to eat in the lighting is something to be desired. wooden table. It feels very homie. Rarely i give 4 stars across. but this establishment deserves it. Its well run.
OMG- what a find! Amazingly juicy, Peruvian chicken. Great sides like fried yuca and a very tasty salad. Or you could just get a chicken sandwich which packs every incredible flavor and ingredient into one massive vessel. Inca Kola (great cream soda) and Jarritos. The sweet plantains are like dessert. I wish they were closer to me, but I have a feeling this is the start of a huge franchise. The sweetest people working there. Get over soon before they raise their exceptionally reasonable prices. Can't wait to go back for their pork and ceviche!
If you are a chicken lover🍗 , then this is a great place for lunch. I ordered a half chicken with 2 sides. The chicken was moist, tender, and delicious. The portion was huge, and more than satisfied my midday hunger. I had the rice and fries as my 2 sides, but there were plenty of options to choose from. They also have salad and vegetable options. Seating is limited, but takeout is very efficient. Service is very friendly and helpful. Prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend.
Loved everything about this place. Best meal I had in NYC!
This is the best chicken I've had in a long while, and definitely best in NYC so far! They serve roasted chicken peruvian style. Very tasty, not dry at all, and with amazing sides (tried fries -super abundant- and maduros - right amount of sweet)! Also had the small soup, which comes with a side bread. The bread was very tasty, and so was the soup, although it really is a small. Chicken itself is a bit small, I was worried 2 of us wouldnt finish 1/2 chicken, but we ended up wanting more. Full from the big sides, but not from the chicken :)
Chicken seasoned nicely and beef empanada was delicious
In the more than 30 years in this country I have not tasted pollo à la brasa as authentic as what we have in Peru. Delicious!!!
I love Chirp!!! I love their food!! I love their service!! I work in an office around the corner and our lunch breaks aren’t very long so I always order ahead. The food is always waiting for me and it’s always hot, fresh and delicious!!! The Pork Confit sandwich is probably one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. If you compliment it with the fries and green sauce, you will be in heaven. I’m going to add more photos later, but trust me, do yourself a favor and get some Chirp!!! Your welcome 😂😂😂
Tasty Peruvian food! I had Empanada's, they have green hot sauce(not too hot) small welcoming atmosphere! Enjoy!
Best chicken sandwich I have ever had. Who would've thought sweet plantain on a chicken sandwich would be so life changing? Don't even get me started on the sauce! A must try if you want good food, a cozy location and friendly staff.
This is the best rotisserie chicken and the best flan desert that I ever had. I went to other restaurants for the same food and Chirp is definitely the best. Their sandwiches are great. The service is excellent. This place is small, it will be amazing if they get a bigger room
can't believe i haven't reviewed this spot yet - it is my go to whenever i leave or arrive at penn station. the chicken is always juicy and well seasoned, skin has good crisp to it. the beans taste like a grandma made them and the sauces that come with are fire. this place has been consistent since they opened. love it
Great little fast casual spot near Penn Station serving up delicious Peruvian style rotisserie chicken. I went with the half chicken meal which comes with a choice of 2,sides. Chicken was awesome - tender and juicy and delicious with the green sauce. Great place for a quick and easy meal in the area.
Looooove the place! Specially, if you’re tired of burgers, this is a place to go. The taste is delicious and also it is affordable. It became a current spot for me during my visit. Will totally come back!
Great place, fresh food, friendly staff. Did I mention the food? It was amazing, chicken was falling off the bones and the yuca!! Omg 10/10
Every bite reinforces their reputation clearly. The quantity shows respect for the customer. The setting indicates approach. Staff: excellent. Careful and experienced. Best wishes for your meal here.
Love this place. Went there with my former manager and friend. We like the food. It was so busy during afternoon so the service was chaotic but was not their fault at all. My favorite is mashroom sandwich and chicken sandwich was great too. This place is Ideal for quick grab and go during office lunch hours and very reasonable pricing for food too!
Great place for a quick bite to eat. Had the chaufa (fried rice) which was really good. K was told it would be a 30 min wait but it was done in less than 10. The food was hot and fresh. For the price and speed, this was such a good meal. A chaufa worth stopping for if in need for a quick bite. The empanadas were also very tasty, both chicken and beef. Will be back in the future.
I LOVE PERUVIAN! This was fantastic!!! My friend ordered the chicken sandwich with fries, but I ordered th Half Chicken with fried Yucca and Salad. Bloody delicious! Also, DO NOT miss out on the fantastic sauces, which I think were Huancaina and Aji Verde! They compliment the dishes. Chicken was moist and flavorful. ❤❤ Canada Loves you!!🇨🇦
Nice and clean. Food was amazing! Loved the shrimp fried rice. This place was recommended to me by a tiktoker name willxchef
We gave this Gem a try, and it did not disappoint! We tried several dishes and all of them were delicious and the portions were very generous! Our family of 5 loves to try new foods, and they had something for everyone, including vegetarian options, and indoor seating. The sweet woman who helped us said it perfectly “our menu is small but what we do, we do well!” I couldn’t agree more! Hoping to stop by once more before heading back to California to try the other menu options!
WOW! This place was great! Came here with friends for a Thursday night dinner and was not disappointed. What was pleasantly surprising was how clean the restaurant was. It was very well maintained. There was also ample seating and it was pretty empty even though we went ~7:30p. Though initially tempted by the chicken sandwich, the Peruvian fried rice was calling out to me. So I ordered it. And boy did it deliver. It was flavor packed! And such a big portion as well! Was really impressed by the flavors and loved the hot sauce that came with it as well. I can totally see this being a "cravable" dish. Overall was impressed. Staff were friendly and helpful and the food came out fast. Will be back here again
An excellent midtown Manhattan pick up! Tired of chick FIL a? Tired of Bodega chicken wings? This place rejuvenates chicken masterfully. It looks deceivingly plain, but one bite and you're transported to a open flame grill in Peru. Lots of flavor and juicy chicken while still smackin dem fingas. Definitely a place to revisit.
Love the decor and music. Very rustic and warm feeling. I ordered the 1/4 chicken, avocado salad, and a side of tostones. The first bite of chicken was SOOOOOO juicy!! Despite the chicken being well cooked/juicy it was a little on the salty side. I enjoyed the salad as well but not worth $9. As for the tostones, they give you a good portion (about 5 or 6) for $4. I was satisfied with my meal and didn’t feel gross or heavy afterwards. This is somewhere I’d be willing to come to once a week.
Omg I totally love it!!!!! The girl at the house is so nice, the atmosphere is great, the good is the best!!!! And it's so cheap, they have authentic Peruvian chefs and delicious food. This is my second time and they are keeping me alive. This is the first place in NYC that I can eat and feel like home ( Perú 🇵🇪 ). Delicious and so cheap.
Went here today 8/22/22 looking for a quick & healthy lunch to go. I tried the boneless chicken bowl with salad. I was back at my desk in less than 10 minutes with exactly what I was looking for. Plus the food was much better than I imagined. I give this place a well deserved 6 star today & recommended it to everyone.
Best option I could have asked for. Affordable Peruvian chicken. I got green plantains & 1/4 chicken. Service is pretty fast also. Great option for hungry B&H shoppers who went over their budget buying gadgets. Notably there was a table of finance dudes that look like they have a rock band on the side, going crazy over the sauces. Cool to see I think I was just as surprised the first time I was here a few years ago. I’m so full 😀❤️✌️ I would have gotten the chicken soup had I known it was going to rain this much. There’s no bathroom here, so plan accordingly.
For a small chicken joint, the flavor of the chicken is surprisingly really good. The service was excellent. The place is only a few hundred square feet for seating. The food came out quick and tasted fresh and good. Price was reasonable and the portions were very good. There is ample street parking after 7pm, apply sarcastic tone.
In Manhattan, there's a small, cozy Peruvian restaurant. It has a low ceiling and feels friendly. The food is really good and not expensive. They have tasty empanadas, chicken with mushrooms and rice, and a great mushroom sandwich. The people who work there are very nice and take good care of the guests. This place is special because it feels like a small piece of Peru in New York. It's a great choice for anyone who wants to try Peruvian food without spending a lot of money. The restaurant is welcoming and makes you feel at home.
After visiting the Edge, we were broke so we wanted something cheap 😜😜... More seriously, we didn't feel like spending too much money that day, plus we did not want to lose too much time because we wanted to walk the High Line before sunset, so we looked for a quick bite and ended up, by chance, at Chirp. It looks like a fast food restaurant, but it's not actually. You do order your food at the counter but then you need to wait at your table for your food to be prepared. And it's worth the wait: I had at Chirp one of the best meals in weeks: the sandwiches were excellent, juicy and original, the chicken (even the breast) was soft and juicy and the sides were very good. Only the soup was not hot enough. Plus a meal (no dessert) only costs about $12 per person. A pity there's no service as it simply would be perfect. I won't hesitate to recommend this place to anybody who visits NYC. Quality & taste: 10/10 Quantities: 8/10 Atmosphere: 7/10 Originality: 9/10 Ratio price / quality: 10/10 Service: n/a How I felt afterwards: 9/10 More on IG @runnerandfoodie
Chirp is a great spot in New York if you’re a fan of chicken-focused dishes. The menu centers around chicken prepared in a variety of flavorful ways, and everything we tried was tender, well-seasoned, and generously portioned. It’s the kind of place where you can count on leaving full and satisfied. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable, making it easy for a quick meal or a relaxed sit-down. Service is friendly, and the food comes out promptly, which is always a plus. If you love chicken or just want a hearty, straightforward meal, Chirp is definitely worth checking out. It’s simple, tasty, and dependable—exactly what you want from a chicken-focused restaurant.
Wanted a quick dinner and found this place. Ordered the 1/4 chicken with white rice and pinto beans. The chicken was so tender, juicy, and very tasty and went really well with the green sauce that you have to specify when you order. Food came out fast. No fuss during the order. Good seating also. Will definitely be coming back.
New Peruvian Spot Alert! It was Saturday night and I was craving a Peruvian pork sandwich. My husband found this place on Google, so we decided to give it a try. And wow, what a great find! The pork sandwich was absolutely delicious the spicy mayo and pickled onions, OMG, such an explosion of flavors! We also tried the chicken bowl and the passion fruit tart, both amazing. And of course, everything tastes even better with an Inca Kola! Definitely coming back!
When I am on travel and time is of the essence, I look for eateries that have quick access but also offer quality and value. With this in mind, I came across this place, and gave it a try recently at lunch. It is a fairly small space, but has a few tables and you may get lucky to find a spot to sit if you can wait; there is quick turnaround with the patrons. It is a no-frills place, but offers Peruvian cuisine favorites with variations of chicken and sides that will appeal to many. I had Chicken stir fry in a rice bowl, and it was delicious. The sauce had a very savory blend of spices, and the dish was freshly prepared and was very appetizing. I am glad I stopped by here, as not only was the food very tasty, but also had the right vibe at a reasonable price. Also, a shout out to the staff working there; very pleasant and cheerful. Overall, a good place to get a quick bite in the area.
Overall: This is a no frills lunch spot. The chicken is incredible. Truly fantastic and fall off the bone good. The sauces are spicy, tangy, decadent. Ideal place for takeout. My favorite meal for a quick lunch in Hudson yards. Food: this is what it’s all about. Get the chicken, with plantains, rice, beans, salad, soup. The delux salads, sandos, are also amazing. You must get it with the sauces. I hear the fried rice is very good. I have no doubt about it. Service: Not a strength. Always very slow turnaround (for a lunch rush in midtown), it kind of baffles me how long it takes for how little prep time pouring a bowl of soup can be. The chicken has been roasting for hours. So it’s already cooked. Cashiers can have a bit of an attitude which I understand, it’s nyc. They are unnecessarily stingy about the extra sauces. They always make it clear it costs extra and insist on reminding you even when you agree to it.
Small but mighty. Great food. The rotisserie chicken 🐔 is of the chain.
Good food at a great value. They've got your basic Peruvian chicken and then special sandwiches as well.
as a disclaimer, i’m from the dc area so i’ve been spoiled by very good “pollo a la brasa”. i ordered a half chicken and the skin was lacking the smoky charred flavor that is iconic to this dish. it was also a little soggy. the meat itself was okay, a little dry at certain spots. i also had the yuca and squash stew as sides, and both of those were pretty decent, though the portions were on the smaller side. update: i came back recently and their chicken was much more flavorful than the first time i tried it. the meat (even the white meat) was tender and the skin had much more kick
I ordered a beef stir fry sandwich, but they have me a chicken sandwich instead. They're roughly the same price and I was with people from work so I didn't push it, figuring I'd enjoy the chicken sandwich too. I did like it for what it was, but the aji verde was the only thing that distinguished it from a regular chicken sandwich as far as I can tell. The fried yuca was great though, highly recommend. The staff was nice for NYC, and it was during the lunch rush so I think they were just going fast. Overall a decent place to check out if you're in the area.
This is a Peruvian chicken restaurant that also serves empanadas. The chicken comes with sides that are typical of Peruvian food, i.e. yucca, plantain, etc. it offers a simple menu but very tasty and the sauces are pretty authentic. The seating area is nothing to write home about, but sturdy and nice. Overall, a good experience.
Had a great experience here! I ordered the creamy chicken and my fiancée had the Peruvian rice with chicken. Both dishes were full of flavor and cooked perfectly. The place is small but cozy, with a really nice vibe and great music playing in the background. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a laid-back spot with delicious food!
Place was cozy, not that many table. Menu is small but they have great choices. We went with the mostrito which is rotisserie chicken, fries and fried rice. Definitely a crowd pleaser and very filling. My husband had the lomo montado and my other son had the classic salchipapa. Everything was delicious.
This place serves one of the better tasting and good prices Peruvian cuisine in Hudson Yards. It’s near Moynihan Hall Train Station which makes it really handy when you just arrived or are travelling somewhere or you’re just on the go. Their chicken meat is juicy and tasty. I paired it with plantains and finished off with their house made flan.
8/1/25, 6:30pm Ate here for the first time and the food was delicious! I had the 1/4 chicken with white rice and pinto beans which was $12, and my bf had the Peruvian beef fried rice which was $18. The chicken was juicy and tender. I tried his dish and it was really good! When I come here again I’ll definitely order the fried rice. It was definitely crowded a bit and tables were filling up quickly so this location seems really popular
A pleasant surprise on a quiet Thursday, pre-holiday weekend. I was in the mood for something that wasn't a giant fast food chain (which is 90% of this area), and I'd noticed this little guy an avenue block away or so from my office. It's just far enough away from the chaos of MSG/Penn Station where it's not overloaded with tourists staring slack-jawed at the taxis and skyscrapers, and honestly probably a little too edgy for them anyway. Big selling point for me. I wandered in here around 1pm yesterday. Since it was the day before the 4th of July, it was pretty quiet - I'm sure most of their demo is the almighty office worker, many of whom were already presumably chilling out at the shore with their PBRs. A few people made comments within earshot that it was much less chaotic than usual, and given that there's a written disclaimer by the counter that customers should expect a 20-minute wait for the rice bowls during rush hour, I'm 100% planning to order ahead the next time I'm hankering for some Peruvian food. But on this particularly day I got lucky. There's probably about five or six tables in there, only one or two of which was occupied. Cute spot; looks pretty spiffy and given that they don't have a ton of space to play around with, it doesn't feel claustrophobic. Again, it WAS an abnormally quiet work day in the city. Maybe it feels exactly like Penn Station on a normal weekday. There were honestly a lot of options that looked intriguing. I'm not a huge rotisserie chicken person (I find bones distracting unless it's something more straight-forward like a turkey leg or ribs where you're eating off the bone versus around it, if that makes sense), which seems to be their big seller. I went with the chicken rice bowl, and opted for the accompanying Peruvian fried rice, featuring eggs and scallions. Really tasty, filling stuff - something more for the end of the week than the beginning. The inclusion of the eggs reminded me of a Thai dish, and there was definitely some spice to the proceedings, which I tend to measure in nose blows (two in this case). The chicken was flavorful and tender, and I'm assuming one of the big attributes of the rotisserie section as well. Solid portion; the only issue I had was a personal palate one - I'm not crazy about crunchy onions/scallions on a texture basis, though they're upfront about its inclusion. The women behind the counter were decently busy - they seemed to have a lot of to-go orders as well as the in-person customers like myself - but were personable and accommodating. I was expecting to have to wait a while just by virtue of the time of day, but I had my rice bowl within about three or four minutes, which was awesome. Wasn't feeling quite frisky enough to venture into the fried sides territory but I wouldn't be opposed to trying the tostadas or empanadas on a future visit. Absolutely adding this place to the midday rotation. Hopefully its more subtle location (I mean, as subtle as you're going to get on 34th and 9th) keeps the hordes at bay and limits the wait times going forward.
Food was acceptable one of the employees was very friendly and helpful and the other one was a little rude… unfortunately I won’t be visiting again.
I really wanted to like this place, but alas, it will not be so. The chicken was tasteless other than where the skin was, which was salty. Peruvian roasted chicken is slamming everywhere but here. Literally no seasoning anywhere. The brown rice with carrots was also meh. Maybe the other dishes are good, but the chicken? You can pass on that
Chirp is a pretty good, very casual lunch spot. The menu is focused in three areas -- sandwiches, salads, and bowls (stir fry or rice). I recently had a chirp chicken sandwich that was hard to navigate -- it was tasty but the sloppy sauce made containing the chicken a challenge. I also had the Peruvian fried rice bowl, which was just average. The chicken was modestly portioned and most pieces were clearly the bits that didn't make their way into another dish (see photo for the sad little chicken scraps that make their way into the "last resort" chicken bowl). For $16 (website prices are wrong, by the way), a better product is required. Maduros (Peruvian plantains) are a good bet for sides from the (once again) incorrectly priced website menu. Ambiance is what you would expect from a place built for lunch takeout.
Bun was crispy and soft, and the chicken is cooked just right. The cashier was also quite friendly because I asked for recommendations. Tables are rather limited but I’m ok with that. Knocking off 2 stars because they have a 3% surcharge on cards. There were no signages, nor was I informed. I do have cash with me and would have appreciated a heads up. I hated when I have to the necessarily pay extra surcharge without notice. It felt sneaky.
This is a small place, but decent enough to grab lunch with 1 or 2 other people. I ordered the chicken stir fry. For $17+ I would expect some good food. Unfortunately this was verrry salty and almost inedible! Also the spicy mayo has got a very odd taste to it. Service is also ok, after placing the order I waited 15min for my dish.
I haven’t gone to Chirp for a while after getting an upset stomach. Today I decided to give it a try again to see whether it was their food or not and as soon as I open my chicken salad I spotted the chicken looked bad, the dressing salad also had a weird well. Not happy at all and I don’t have time to go back to the store to claim issues with what I received.
This place have good homemade taste Peruvian plates. The roast chicken is good and the spicy sauces give it the magic touch. Customer service from the cashiers is very bad. A lack of empathy and kindness to the people who actually pay money for their food. I recommend you just order online and pick up your food.
