We have just returned from a Christmas Break at this fantastic Hotel excellent accommodation we stayed in the annex. very helpful, friendly staff nothing is too much trouble and they were very busy and still had the time to ensure everyone was looked after. Thank you for a fantastic stay.
The hotel fronts the River Ness and is in walking distance to a multitude of shops and eateries and only a few blocks from the train station. The food they served was delicious and the staff was delightful. My bed was super comfortable and the room was quiet and cozy. If you have time, enjoy a massage at the spa; it was a treat after all the walking I had done on my tour. The lounge is a nice place to meet for a drink and relax. A truly lovely hotel.
Really enjoyed my stay here great hotel! Room~ very spacious and clean. Well worth £155 per night. Bar restaurant~very clean friendly staff quick service and food was nice. It’s a lovely environment to sit in. Spa and Pool~Very good facilities. The woman at the desk could have been a bit more welcoming. Acknowledge customers as they come to the desk. Location~ first class. Restaurants and pubs all within a 5 minute walk. Parking~ I panicked at first. hotels own car park is free but very few spaces. There is a big car park 2 mins away next to the Cathedral it’s only £5 for 24hours parking
Attentive staff, updated posh rooms, great food and drink on site with so much within walking distance. They offer on site parking and have every amenity someone could reasonably expect. The pool/spa is hands down a welcome reprieve from a go go go vacation, somewhere warm to relax and let your sore joints rest is worth every penny you spend on your booking.
We LOVED the Inverness Palace Hotel. The rooms were large and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The staff at the cafe/bar were very friendly and accommodating. The spa staff was wonderful! The Spa was pretty good, too. We loved the Pool and the Hot Tub. The hotel offers a wonderful view of the River Ness and Inverness Castle, especially at night, when the town is festively lit. The Hotel has a very communal feel to it, almost like there were folks who dropped by for tea with friends or dinner together in the restaurant or a pint at the bar. As a guest, you felt welcome in this homey, social space. Bonus points for the fireplace in the lobby. We would come back to the Palace Hotel in a heartbeat!
The hotel is located right by the river Ness, with beautiful views of the castle. The hotel staff were great and gave us an amazing upgrade to a castle view room, the only one with a balcony I might add. We booked through booking.com, and we got an amazing deal, the staff were also very responsive on the portal and kept us well informed. The only downside I would say was the breakfast, it was mediocre at best. Everything else was fabulous and we left with some great memories of our stay there.
We often stay in Inverness but always on the outskirts. This time was a more of a splurge and relax poolside sort of weekend on my own after an incredibly rough 2025 for me. I called reception after booking with some enquiries, one of the many receptionists, Ale, took the call and she couldn't have been more helpful with her answers and assurances, this helped make the forthcoming weekend less anxious for me. Happily she was even working at reception when I arrived and she took care of the parking permit for the Cathedral parking from the Spa. When I arrived it was clear that the hotel was very popular for afternoon teas. Ale had upgraded my single room to a double which was amazing. I spent all evening and the next in the spa area which was my plan. Jacuzzi, pool, steam room, repeat was the aim of my visit, even on the morning of departure. Breakfasts were made to order on Saturday morning and self service buffet on Sunday morning. I was delighted with the fresh cheese and freshly cut fruit options as well as the huge variety of cooked breakfast ingredients. I opted for no room cleaning/towel change and was rewarded with a mini bottle of red which was enjoyed after I finally emerged from the spa! I'll be back there for certain.
The rooms were spacious, the spa was lovely, the view was gorgeous. The staff went above & beyond. The food was great and I opted to eat here both nights that I was here. I had the tomato & mozzarella salad, the stuffed bell pepper (twice! I liked it that much), and the fish tacos. For drinks, I had the aperol sprit and the chenin blanc wine. My biggest complaint is how overpriced the aperol spritz was (that’s rarely the same cost as an old fashioned in most places) and how undersalted the food was. I had to empty two salt packets on every meal. Unsalted batter on the fish and unsalted salad is just not good. I’d also recommend the chef use WAY more balsamic on all salads and garnishes. Again, for more flavor. Otherwise, it’s all a bit bland (luckily, I could spruce it up myself). I would come and stay again, absolutely. They even sent a taxi to my hotel to come get me, and the biggest bonus is they’re dog-friendly.
Our stay here has been superb. The hotel is well furnished and had beautiful Christmas decor, making it super cosy for the season. All staff are happy and friendly and help with what ever you need. Breakfast was fantastic, huge range of meats, eggs, hot buffet, yoghurts and juices, timings for breakfast were all fantastic. Our room was tidy, and serviced daily to our surprise and gratitude. It was lovely coming back to a made up room at the end of a long day. The Nespresso coffee machine in the room was great too. The swimming, gym and sauna/steam/jacuzzi I was open to us to use at our leisure and all facilities were spotless, a lovely way to unwind. A fabulous stay, thank you!
Excellent Hotel. Nothing was too much trouble, the staff were outstanding, pleasant and an accommodating. The Room were very spacious and comfortable.
My friend decided to have a wedding venue here tonight. Its such a lovely place to have a wedding reception. Laura and her team did really well accommodating us, they even went extra miles giving entertainment to my small kid.
We had a high tea for 4 at the palace. It was superb. Savoury selection was delicious. Location on the river ness fantastic. Was a welcome break after the christmas market. Highly recommend!
I have to write a review for this lovely hotel. I had booked to stay in a different hotel in Inverness but, unfortunately, when I got there, that hotel said they had no record of my reservation. I was essentially turfed out on my own at 7pm to find a new place to stay. I was in some distress, but managed to book a room at the Inverness Palace Hotel & Spa, WorldHotels Distinctive. I wished I had just booked here to start with. The room was very comfortable and quiet, the utilities were great, the hotel was clean and a great location. I had a great night's sleep despite the earlier stress. Also, special mention to both of the kind ladies on reception that night who were very lovely to me when I turned up in distress. I will stay here again, gladly.
Really really good for a little town in the middle of no where. Just like a proper hotel feel, clean and tidy with wellness center being amazing. Also free parking is a big +
Great staff, every member of staff was so friendly and helpful with any requests etc. room was a decent size and clean and comfy bed. Great central location right on the river. Only fault would be the coffee machine wasnt working first day so didn't get our morning latte but that's literally not picking as it was working the next day and we still got a normal coffee at the table. Breakfast was decent, could be slightly warmer but still has heat. Sauna and swimming pool was great, not too busy so ideal size. Cleaning staff we passed numerous times and lovely girls, nice and friendly just like the rest of the staff and the hotel is immaculate throughout!! Will be staying again next time we are on the mainland 😁
My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Best Western Inverness Palace Hotel and Spa. We were staying at a neighboring hotel that was terrible in everyway. We stayed one night there and walked to Palace Hotel and spoke with Patrick about the issues we were having with the other property. Fortunately, they had availability and Patrick assured us that they would have a nice room available in the afternoon. True to his word, the room was wonderful. It was clean, beautifully decorated, and very quite. The entire staff was friendly, professional, and welcoming. Great location also. Very pleased!
Just returned from your hotel we were on a coach tour with bibbys of ingleton. The room food and staff were brilliant value will definitely return again.
We had a lovely stay at the Inverness Hotel & Spa.The swimming and spa facilities were relaxing and well maintained. Breakfast each morning was delicious with plenty of choice, making it a great start to the day. All the staff were friendly and professional, but we’d especially like to mention Marlene. She was so kind and thoughtful, and really helped make our stay extra special. We truly appreciated her warm and caring service. We would happily return and highly recommend this hotel.
If you want to be central, the Palace Hotel is bang on centre right facing the river. No need to use a car. We got a bus to bus station and 10 minutes walk downhill and across the bridge takes you to the hotel. Pubs and restaurants nearby. Breakfast and dinner in the hotel are excellent. Lovely area at reception to sit and relax. We have stayed 4 times. On this occasion the lift was not working.
Amazing stay at this hotel on the 'sugar and spice' package for christmas. Staff went out of their way to make our group feel very welcome and we were well catered for in all areas. Excellent spa experience! Friendly staff throughout. I left my phone charger behind and the hotel has kindly agreed to post it to me. No hesitation from staff to go over and above to make us feel comfortable. Very highly recommend 👌
Wow! Stayed here just one night and we had the most gorgeous view from our room! The room was large for a room with twin beds and beautifully decorated. I wish we had stayed an extra night. Our room was super quiet, even though it was facing the street. Highly, HIGHLY recommend this place!
We had a wonderful stay at the Palace hotel. The location was great as free parking was available alongside a lovey coffee spot by the river. But the shining light of our stay was Marlene. She was such a ray of sunshine in the morning and accommodated our every need. She also provided some recommendations for some amazing excursions. She went above and beyond to look after us and we really appreciated her hospitality.
The best aspect of this hotel is Marlene, the hostess to the restaurant. (I might be spelling her name incorrectly). She had 3 busses of people come for breakfast over a few days and although it was especially busy, she remained pleasant, smiling and welcoming. I had fallen and hurt my face (prior to the trip) and she gave me some ice. The next day, she brought me a solid ice pack from her house! She said it would be more comfortable than the ice. She treated me like family. She is so incredibly hard working and thoughtful. This hotel is lucky to have her! Thank you Marlene!
Decided to stay here based on location, it was close to everything we had planned during our trip to Inverness. Based on the average star rating on Google I expected to dislike something about the hotel, but was completely wrong. Everything was great from the staff, the room, a well stocked breakfast buffet with service, and one of the best hotel exercise rooms I've seen. Would absolutely stay here again.
We stayed for the three day Hogmanay event. The hotel was really busy but the organisation was excellent. We loved every minute of it. The staff were so friendly and could not have been more helpful. We loved the piper and dancing for Hogmanay.
Really enjoyed my recent 2 night stay at the palace hotel. Beautiful decor and excellent rooms. The staff were friendly and helpful in all areas. In the main restaurant two stand out members of the team were Laura and Courtney. They made our stay extra special and are real assets to the hotel. Also Silvia from the spa team was really warm and friendly and gave the best swedish massage I have ever had. The location of the hotel is perfect for visiting Inverness. Definitely recommend the afternoon tea as it was delicious and great value for money.
We had a great experience — the swimming pool, breakfast, room, and cleanliness were all amazing. The location could not be better. The staff were very cordial and welcoming.
I stayed for three nights in Room 39, a spacious third-floor room with a lovely view. The included breakfast was delightful, featuring haggis among other options. Staff were friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend and hope to be back soon.
The Palace Hotel is located right in the heart of Inverness on the river Ness. Shopping, dining and nightlife are all just a short walk away. We ate several meals at the hotel and the food was good and well prepared. The breakfasts were a little chaotic, as the traffic patterns for the buffet were congested during peak periods. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable. There is a great view of the Inverness Castle from the hotel front.
A very wholesome time at The Palace for our Inverness adventure ✨ A special shout-out to Marlene at breakfast who was incredibly sweet and kind, making us feel right at home. We looked forward to seeing her at breakfast each day ☺️
This historic hotel is beautiful and in a perfect location right on the river. Well lighted parking area and walking path where you can stroll by the river and enjoy the beauty of this town. Just walk across the bridge for great food, coffee, and shopping. A Starbucks is inside one of the dining areas for convenience. The staff is friendly and rooms are nice and comfortable. Large in size , with a nice bathroom and all the amenities. Elevator available in main building and nice buffet breakfast served. We didn’t want to leave this lovely hotel in a truly beautiful place.
We had a family room, very spacious, clean and modern. We loved our morning swim.
My wife and I spent three nights including New Year at The Palace with friends. What a wonderful experience we had. The Palace is a lovely hotel with leisure complex,That was not too busy. We had afternoon lunch and three course evening meals. Food was always first class. All staff were always courteous pleasant and polite. Would recommend The Palace to fellow travellers.
Recently stayed at the hotel on a trip to Inverness. The hotel was wonderful- from the welcome at reception to the room, public areas of the hotel and the pool and spa area. Every member of the team were excellent - helpful and friendly. The bistro/bar and restaurant looked fabulous. The only downside of our stay was that we were unable to eat in these as they did notnhave a dog friendly area. The staff did offer to seat us in the reception/lounge area but that was not acceptable to my husband for dinner. Despite this, I would definitely return (probably without my pup) and would highly recommend the hotel.
Stayed for the 2nd time this year, all Hotels should be this good, great staff so helpful, great breakfast looking forward to the next time we get to stay. Shame, it's a 9-hour drive for us. Otherwise, we'd stay here every weekend :-) Wayne & family n Taddy the dog 🐕 ♥️
Excellent hotel. Delicious food. Friendly staff Beautiful spa facilities Deaf aware. Recommend this outstanding hotel
This hotel is higher priced, but is packed with a lot of amenities!! The breakfast was the best on our Scotland adventure! The front desk folks were kind, and very attentive! The only thing I wish the hotel had was more parking. However, this is not a complaint. The staff accommodated our car even when the parking lot was full! We had a wonderful stay!!
Great place beside river ness, great view of castle, food was scrummy, only downside was new it system which was new and made quite a few blunders, all OK in the the end😃👌
I Would return again, my only gripe is food at restaurant and room service and drinks and cost... not our thing disappointed and next door steal prime Very expensive so we had a buffet with breakfast, but poor eggs, very poor and smelly rubber, no Scottish scones which thought was a thing here? and staff miserable, no porridge on buffet and orange juice tasted cheap, tea and toast took very longer and we finished breakfast before getting them Luke warm, perfect location you have...
Nice hotel, I loved Marlene in the mornings at breakfast, she’s a Diamond. Nice room overlooking the castle, good staff. Unfortunately lift broke again, a massive problem for older guests, I just can’t understand why it didn’t get fixed.I’ve heard this is an ongoing problem.😧close for nice walk, and the town is just across the bridge. 👍 we met the best bunch of guests to spend our Xmas with. And hope to meet up soon.❤️
Excellent food, staff friendly and helpful Only downside for a refurbished hotel is shower over baths! With no safety hand grabs potential accidents falls etc especially when patriots are elderly, otherwise a lovely hotel.
Lovely hotel, great location, good view from the bar, of the newly floodlit Inverness Castle on the other side of the river. Enjoyed the spa. This would be a five star review except for the EV situation. Why spend money putting in 6 EV chargers and then let random guests or even passers by use them as parking spots? We chose this hotel partly because of the EV chargers - found an alternative at Eden court but still! Nobody seemed to be taking the reg numbers of cars using the car park and we were told it was ‘first come first served’. Nobody charged a car there the whole time we were there.
Amazing place, quite old but a classic. Located just across the river is a perfect place to stay. I'll recommend to spend 2-3 days exploring the city. The pool is a must.
Located on Ness Walk almost directly opposite Inverness Castle this is a great hotel location being only 5-10 minutes away from almost any location in Inverness city centre. The hotel is very popular with coach tours so the lobby fills up with tourists and thrir luggage around 8 in the morning and 5 in the afternoon. I was initially in across in the annexe on the other side of the car park (just about adequate) and the room was pretty small but quiet. For my last night I was moved to the main building which was a bit of a hassle. The hotel has good amenities including a spa and a pool a lounge bar and restaurant. Reception staff are friendly and helpful but rushed off their feet at coach changeover time.
The hotel staff are the best in Inverness, so friendly, helpful, and professional - first class service. Tasty lunch and yummy cocktails. The swimming pool/spa was lovely, too. The room was immaculate, as always, but it was far too hot, with no air conditioning, which made for a most uncomfortable night. The staff very kindly provided fans, but they didn't do much good against insufferable heat, unfortunately. For the price of the hotel, I would have liked to be a bit more comfortable. This is the only thing that stops me from coming back during the summer months. Otherwise, it was truly fabulous! Xx
This is a nice hotel with a great location. The breakfast buffet is good but frequently overwhelmed by the large number of tour groups.
This probably is a great hotel if only you stay in the original front. If like most of the guests you find you're in the new extension to the rear, it's very poor. It looks good but it's very noisy, with no views. Ours was a joke. Lovely view of the spa roof. The response to the original paragraph above from the hotel is a joke and doesn't reflect the issues I experienced. It looks more like a standard response to wash over the real issues and keep some kind of rating 🤔
Good hotel. The hotel rooms have recently been refurbished. The service is great. The room size was good. The bed is really comfortable. The room unfortunately have poor sound insulation, meaning that it feel like your next door neighbour is sitting with you. You can hear every conversation and noises. The WiFi is terrible, which is pretty poor for an hotel like this. Great location nearby the city centre. unfortunately, I couldn't enjoy the view due to the scaffold outside. No fridge/mini bar in the room.
Stopped for coffee and it was superb. Great staff very comfortable and reasonably priced. So much so we decided to go back for lunch. This was a mistake. We ordered tea and coffee which was super but the sandwich bread was stale. Would highly recommend a visit but don't have a sandwich 🙂
The staff are exceptional, and it is in a truly great location along the river, but that’s where it ends. To begin, our room was about 85 degrees F when we walked in. While I do understand that it is a Victorian era building, small splitters (air conditioning units) could have been installed at very little cost, and could have easily cooled the square footage of the room. Moving on, in your home, the kitchen and bath are the two places where you’d spend the most money for upgrades. Since most hotels don’t have a kitchen, the bathroom is where you’d expect a 4 star hotel to have very nice finishes. That was not the case here. The sink and shower drains in our room backed up, and the shower overflowed onto the floor. The flooring was a cheap linoleum that had been glued to the floor and up the base of the wall. When I brought this to the attention of the hotel management, they asked several times if we’d just left the shower on and walked away. Neither of us took a shower over 10 minutes. And because we’d booked it on Expedia, they told us they weren’t able to give us a refund. The hotel restaurant was packed to the brim, and was as loud as sitting in a crowded airport terminal. About as far from relaxing and refined as you can get. This hotel is on a tour bus stop, and it’s more for herding cattle through a chute than it is for truly taking care of guests. I hate it for the staff who do try very hard to help where they can, but spend an extra $60 and go somewhere else. That’s what we did.
Great room for an urgent stay and great location. Unfortunately the lift was broken and was a bit of an inconvenience given our room was on the 3 rd floor.
Disappointing and uncomfortable stay. The rear block of rooms was unbearably hot — even with the window open and a fan running, it was impossible to cool down. The in-room tea and coffee offering was poor; instant coffee simply isn’t acceptable for a £260-per-night room, especially one with a direct view into a neighbour’s living room. Breakfast wasn’t included, and after seeing what was on offer before leaving, I was actually relieved — it looked very average at best. I would advise this hotel be re-reviewed for its star rating as we have stayed in far better 3* hotels for less money.
The rooms are not like the photos. They are old, and you can hear noise from all the neighbouring rooms. The shower with a fabric curtain was a bit disgusting, and there was mould on the walls. The spa leaves a lot to be desired. And I found breakfast chaotic; the lady who greets you doesn't look you in the eye when she talks to you and treats you quite badly. The waiters shout at each other as if they were on a football pitch. It leaves a lot to be desired. The reception staff are very friendly and super warm. Always willing to help.
Went for 3 days new year package very disappointed. Got to hotel i walk with a stick lift broken broken for duration of holiday. Had to walk upstairs very inconvenient. First night ques for dinner horrendous Chicken chasseur sliced mushroom tomato concasse nothing like it. New year dinner advertised Ribbof Beef what did we get chuck steak.whe the bells came in everyone in different parts of hotel no togetherness. Then I got the worst stories I had ever seen couldn't have been anybody scittish making them surely a plate of Haggis needs and tatties would have been more fitting. As already said was looking for a guide Scots new year this is definatly not the place to go. And it was not cheap not value for money will never be back. Loads of people thought the same.
I felt it was not for value and over hyped. What I liked: - TV in the room was smart TV with access to a range of channels and applications - Fairly spacious rooms - Spa is decent, with great showers and a nice jacuzzi (although high competition for that as there is only one) - Entrance has nice seating, with river view. The outside facade of the building looks good for anyone who walks by or enters the place. - Breakfast is decent - Location is quite central What I did not like: - Room interiors are quite garish. The wall has marks on them and overall layout is not the best. - Breakfast was good, but timing is very short and early for winters/people on vacation (6.30 to 9.30 am) which makes it quite busy. - The bathroom is quite ordinary for the level of hotel and has bad water pressure. The free standing toilet paper holder was inconvenient. The toiletries provided were bare minimum, and we had to go ask for them in the reception and carry them to our rooms. Little details that are there in the pictures like vanity kits, shower cap, glasses kept neatly with a paper covers etc. were missing. I have seen better rooms in lower budget hotels. - Adding the word 'palace' makes one to expect more, but the hotel is hardly living up to the name. The front heritage building housing the swanky reception/restaurant has an extension at the back where we had our room. It's through narrow corridors and tiny elevator. The corridor where our room was also had an odd smell. - Spa treatment rooms looked very GP like. Otherwise it was good enough. - Service was average. We had to ask for things that never reached. We requested robes on the day we reached and got it the next evening. Having bath robes in the room or being provided one at the spa reception is something I expected given it's a spa hotel. - Quite noisy as walls are thin. You can feel if someone is walking upstairs or next door.
We were visiting inverness for the first time. As you enter most disinterested receptionist was sitting. We had booked river and castle double room and a standard single room. But to our shock they gave us different rooms from what we booked which were like pegion holes where we could not open our suitcases. Manager was rude and as we had no choice at the last moment we had to settle in fir rooms which had no view . The rooms haven't air-conditioning, nosafes,no bath room moisturiser or other small amenities.we had put fans and leave window open to sleep at night. Parking was very limited. Even if u get it you can be blocked by their wahwrman's truck who will not budge till he finishes his work. The guests have to wait. Well we have never faced such a bad attitude and service any where else in the world. We are travel junkies.
For the price we paid, I was really disappointed with our stay. We were placed in the older building next door, on the top floor, and the room felt more like an attic—very small and cramped, with barely enough space for our suitcases. The bed and pillows were uncomfortable, and we could clearly hear our neighbors coming and going. The bathroom was tiny, and there was no air conditioning, which made things worse. While the location is convenient and the gym was decent, overall, it wasn’t worth the cost.
The hotel is very well located, but the service and hygiene are extremely disappointing. When we arrived, we found that the toilet in our room had not been cleaned. We immediately informed the reception, who assured us it would be taken care of… but nothing was done. When you check into a hotel and even the toilet isn’t clean, it really raises questions about the overall hygiene standards of the establishment. Very disappointing for a hotel of this category.
Positive: perfect location at the river, just 2 minutes from the city centre. Comfortable beds, quiet. Negative: unfortunately, lots of things. This is not a four star hotel. Rooms are of average size (they told us that we had an upgrade, I don't want to know what the original room looked like) and lack facilities, such as a safe and a small fridge. The bathroom is really very small, with a toilet squeezed behind the door. The worst however is the service. Nobody to help with luggage, an elevator where two people and their luggage hardly fit in, unfriendly staff at the reception (checkout was one word: "goodbye", not even asking how our stay was). Hotel parking is inconvenient, on two occasions our car was blocked by cars belonging to staff (!!). The biggest disaster was the breakfast: chaotic management, buffet virtually empty at 8:30, staff completely overwhelmed. And all because the evening before a bus with a travel group arrived (which you know will pop up at breakfast). Really poor value for money, it is way too expensive for what it offers. Choose a b&b and avoid this one.
Room 14, terrible experience. Room too hot even with radiator off. Extractor fan from kitchen outside window, if window open room stinks of food. Extractor fan starts at 05:30. Bed was super soft, bad for back. So basically never slept. Most staff friendly. Spa decent. Breakfast usual rubbish hot food but ok fruit. Also never got a massage in two days spent there, must need to book well in advance. Spa use and location mean I would maybe visit again, but would have to pick room very carefully.
We had to leave a night early because of how uncomfortable the mattresses was. You could feel holes through the sheet. The food has no taste. Zero flavouring. Charging way too much for something that you could make yourself (probably a lot better) or that you could go and eat in one of the many restaurants that are close by and at least make it slightly more worth the price. I find it shocking that so much is charged for a breakfast where beans are simply warmed up from a can and tomatoes put in the oven with zero seasoning. The 'fresh pastries' are all mass produced and baked from frozen, not what you imagine when you see the advertisement. The room service food was equally bad with the stuffed pepper having zero taste. These are the most basic things you would expect a hotel to do well - provide a comfortable bed and food and it failed miserably on both. If location is what you are after, there's other hotels in the center. Would not recommend at all and wil definitely not got again. A pity because the staff were all good and did refund us for the last night.
I didn't realise that the hotel was dog friendly, the bedrooms are used as dog kennels for guests who have a dog, I had a terrible time with itchy red eyes, running nose and constriction of my throat, the bedrooms are cleaned but that didn't clear all the dog hair and dust up, my fault for going there, I just didn't realise it would be as bad as it was, it's a pity for me as I loved the rest of the hotel
