Opinions de Contrast Brasserie Inverness
Small romantic restaurant overlooking the river Ness. AMAZING FOOD!!! They have an early bird dinner special 2 course 18 pounds and 3 course for 21 pounds. Delicious complimentary starter bread served with 3 different toppings/dips on the side. We had the soup of the day- creamy leaks cream. One of us ordered the steak and the other the catch of the day. Both were AMAZING!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE BREAD PUDDING for the final course 👌. The lemon merengue is good too. Wish I could have shared pictures, but ate it before I even realized I hadn't shared with you. Great experience for the price. Dinner was amazing. Breakfast is a hit or miss- depending on what you order. Do not recommend the Scottish breakfast here. Breakfast is about 11 pounds- 6 different choices. Continental breakfast and drinks included for the price. Liquor sold separately.
The food was absolutely amazing. Everything was cooked beautifully and we couldn't have been happier. The staff at service were extremely helpful and polite with our waiter even took the time to help us pick some cocktails. We very much enjoyed our dinner and will definitely be going back soon.
Fine dining in Inverness at its finest. Really friendly and professional staff which knew their menu really good, can recommend different drinks for different meals as well. I love restaurant that gives you bread before the food and you get several here with both butter, oil and dressing to add on. The drunken duck cant be recommended enough! Perfectly cooked with great sauce and extras on the side! It is a bit pricy but well worth it!
What can I say, this is probably the best restaurant I've been to in Inverness. Booking was no hassle either online, through the phone or visiting beforehand. However it would be best to book in advance. The atmosphere of the restaurant is relaxed and inviting, almost a home feel. The wine cellar and Himalayan salt fridge for steaks are in full view. Starters were Duck with Alpine Slaw and Cajun prawns. Both were cooked perfectly and seasoned really well. Great quality seafood and meat. Good crisp vegetables. The prawns may be a little spicy for people not used to it. Mains were the Venison, Sirloin steak, Chicken and Vegetable Linguine. The venison was no doubt the best I've had in the region, perfectly cooked for me (really rare however they will accommodate people) fantastic seasoning and sides. Chicken equally good and the smoked butter was fantastic. The vegetable Linguine though plain looking on the menu, was great for our vegetarian in the party (extra parmesan and chilli flakes available) the steak however really shines, dry aged on site and accompanied with local vegetables and homemade chips. It was divine, however I'd miss out on the sirloin and ribeye to get the fillet as that one I've heard is extremely decadent. Desserts we had were 3 scoops of sorbet (cherry, strawberry and apple) and the Gin and Tonic cheesecake. The sorbets were light and refreshing, perfectly tart and the apple had a great cardamom twist. The cheesecake was light and delicate boasting fruity and botanic flavours. Beverage selection was good with a wide variety of wines and spirits. Overall the food was fantastic, the staff are friendly and efficient (service was great throughout the night however due to covid our desserts took a long time though we weren't in any rush) the location is great and pricing is reasonable (better with the new eat out to help out scheme too) I will definitely be coming here everytime I go to Inverness
Had a wonderful lunch here today for our 25th Wedding Anniversary 🩶💍⭐️🥂 Thank you so much for the lovely anniversary cake, very much appreciated ❤️ Food was exceptional, staff were so lovely and helpful. Big thank you to Kieron and lovely waitress, sorry we never got your name. Most definitely will be back soon and will recommend to all ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Had a beautiful pre theatre dinner here before nipping across to eden court. The food was very high quality, tasty, and also very speedily served to us. We both had 3 courses, 1 side, and we had 2 glasses of wine and a diet coke. All of that for £68, we were very impressed. We are looking forward to coming back here for another meal at a later date. The setting of the restaurant allows for beautiful views out onto the River Ness, whilst it also benefits from ample parking at the back of the building. The entry to the car park is on a one way street, so be careful not to miss the entrance as you will have to do a lap around the buildings to get back.
This is a hidden gem in inverness, we had a table of 4 and we are all local but we never knew how good the food was. We had a lovely late lunch for a very reasonable price. The food was very high end and taste but not pretentious. All the food was fresh and cook perfectly. The service and staff are really good, friendly and welcoming. All in all everything was really good and we would highly recommend for dinner or lunch. We’ll definitely be back. Handy carpark and good selection of drinks and a reasonable price.
I planned quite a bit for my trip to England and Scotland, looking for unique dining experiences, not restaurants with just the usual fare. So I was already excited about my visit to Contrast. It’s been hours since my visit and I’m still excited. What a great and creative meal. I started with the Gravlax, preceded by a small loaf of the best, softest, warmest, crispiest bread I’ve ever had. Then came the main, the Scottish cod, but not just a slab of fish, a wonderful composition of flavors and textures that mirrored the starter. My only regret is not having left enough room for dessert. Next time.
We had a reservation but came a little late. The team was very accommodating, parking was easy, and the food was great. We got the braised lamb and the cod as mains with the scallop appetizer. All were delicious with the mains having great portion sizes. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Inverness. You can even go for a lovely walk around the river after.
We had an excellent meal here for a birthday dinner. The food was delicious and well presented. There were plenty of staff on shift, who were attentive and welcoming. We would definitely recommend this restaurant for a meal. The stand out dishes for us were the vegetarian starter and the honey and miso cod dish.
Excellent place to eat and drink especially if you like whisky and cocktails as Ben and his team are very welcoming and will make the perfect drink. Also its dog friendly which is brilliant for such a plush bar.
Delicious pre-theatre menu with plenty of choices and catering for food allergies. Great service from the staff. Would highly recommend and ideal if going to Eden Court theatre as directly across the river, close to the upstream bridge.
The food and setting was lovely but ultimately it was the staff who just made the night: they were so friendly and attentive without hovering over or rushing us. Mòran taing / Many thanks.
This is a fantastic restaurant in Inverness! It’s a perfect place to get away from the busy town center and enjoy the view. The staff were wonderful and allowed us to sit outside and watch the sunset with our drinks until our dinner was ready. They then kindly invited us in to our table where we were amazed by the food. It was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious - one of the best meals we had in the country! The whole experience was experience was top tier.
My boyfriend took me here for my 20th birthday a few months ago and asked them to make it a little extra special for me to which when we arrived they reserved the best table in the room for us :) The food was beautifully presented and tasted quite nice. Lovely menu with many innovative options. Did feel a little underdressed there so make sure to suit up!
Couldn't fault the service or food and highly recommended for anyone visiting Loch Ness and Inverness. We were sat outside on a beautiful afternoon. Enjoyed our drinks listening to the church bells, soaking up the sunshine and river views. My wife and I both had the salmon and it was fantastic. The rocky road ice cream was the perfect way to finish. Great.
Simply stunning. Food, staff and location is first class. We love coming here. Thank you
Great Pre Theatre Menu. Chicken satay and orange mascarpone crepe were delicious! Nice mocktails too
We stayed in the hotel and ate here one night which was really good. We also had one time the breakfast which was good as well.
We enjoyed their "onsite aged" rib eye steak and chips. Perfect service and nice looking out over the river Ness.
Loved this place food service views all excellent.
Amazing food and really kind service!
Intimate hotel restaurant and bar! Upscale menu focusing on fish, tempura and steaks. Service was helpful and attentive, food was good quality with nice presentation. We enjoyed the highland venison and fillet steak. Vegetable sides were fresh & flavorful, especially the miso broccoli. Solid wine, cocktail and whiskey list. Enjoy a walk along river Ness after your meal. Recommended.
Really enjoyed our meal here on the pre-theatre menu on Friday night. I had the Shetland mussels to start and battered haddock for main. Two courses for £21.95. All the food was exceptionally fresh and the yellow curry broth that the mussels came in was totally delicious. The online menu was up to date, which sometimes you find don't match, so if you like to plan what you're eating before you go then it's all there online.
Very nice place to eat. Great moody atmosphere and good fusion food.
Superb dining experience. Great food, excellent staff and a very nice atmosphere. Will definitely go again.
Such a great experience here. Ben and the team are so lovely and always very welcoming. Food was delicious and a particular mention for the duck spring rolls.
I’ve came here for years for lunch dates with my young daughter. We’ve always been so welcome and very comfortable taking young children. Whenever family are visiting, I always take them here. Cocktails and food are amazing! Service was especially good by Elizabeth on my last visit.
Good food and a nice comfy bar. The early menu is really limited so wait for the dinner menu.
6 in our party, Our server was terrific, perfect timing and helpfulness. The dining area was beautiful and elegant. 4 had seafood and 2 had chicken. The response to the seafood was more positive, but not effusive. The chicken was okay, slightly dry, the sauce saved the meal. Also ordered a baked Alaska, the meringue was soft and silky....very good, the ice cream was not good, it had the flavor of being old and re-frozen multiple of times (slightly icy).
Came for lunch for the first time, keen to try an Asian inspired menu. The service was excellent the staff were attentive and the restaurant was clean and welcoming . The food was very average, main courses had noodle accompaniments that were bland with watery sauce with a selection of strangely cut vegetables, “pickles” which were not pickled? Portion size was excellent but lacking in depth and taste overall. Disappointing to choose this restaurant over others in the area. 4 stars for the restaurant service and staff!
Didn't have halal option so went with the vegetarian option for breakfast which was good and had a good portion size as well which was on top of the breakfast buffet as well.
The food and service was top notch. It is definitely a 4.5 star dining destination.
Brilliant food, excellent service especially Katerina our waitress. Will be back
Really lovely place. the server was a little underwhelming but not bad. Was quite quiet when we went. Food was lovely, definitely worth an evening out.
Highly priced, so you have high expectations, which are sadly not fulfilled. The steak is only average. The sushi in the seafood menu is not good. The fries as a side were awful, tasted like old fat, definitely unacceptable for this price. The cocktails and the bread you get as a starter are very good. Service is friendly but a bit unorganised. We were asked by 3 different people within a minute what we would like to order, even though we said at the first time, that we aren’t ready yet. It would be ok for a lower price, but for about 50 pound per person it’s disappointing.
Very nice looking piano bar lounge... BUT the piano player didn't show up. That is why we spent £55 tonight on a kinda average burger for me and haddock, that my wife enjoyed a lot, & vinos. Staff were very nice especially Elizabeth who was super nice & she is the reason I didn't ask to speak to complain to the manager about no live piano music as promised. Disappointing evening.
I came to eat here at 8.45 and they told me the restaurant is close . I se people eating inside and also on Google say close at 22 .00 that's very very annoying.
