Really nice atmosphere, got TVs woth sports can't ask for more! And I also just finished the sandwich I got to go and wow it is by far the best Philly cheese steak I have ever had!!!! I will be back!!!
First time trying this place. I was down visiting my son when he suggested this place food was great. Loved the Philly fries !
The staff was friendly and the food tasted great with large portions.
I come here quite often, and the team is always super friendly and helpful. Today, I was quite busy at work and ordered through UberEats instead of going in. The driver unfortunately forgot part of my order and Uber refused to refund the items, so I called to check if I could pick them up myself instead. Not only were they super helpful and resolved my issue, they threw in an extra drink in for free as a consolation for the inconvenience caused which wasn’t even their fault. Absolutely great service and these guys are always awesome!
Wow these are some great Philly cheesesteak sandwiches. Been back twice in the last week.
My wife and I went to this place for the first time not long ago when we were looking for something other than a burger. We were very pleased. The people behind the counter were absolutely great. The menu is a large selection of sandwiches most done in the Philly Cheesesteak style (chopped meat and cheese with various veggies). The seating area is nice, clean a few TV's for sports. Overall a big win!
Their cheesesteak sandwich with mushrooms is delicious. This spot is definitely the high school hangout and brought back memories from the music they were playing from early 2000s. The guys behind the counter were fast and efficient considering lunch hour rush. Definitely coming back soon.
Prices have gone up but there's nothing better than a classic philly. Parking can suck sometimes. So if going during lunch rush, call in your order. Then park in the loading only spaces. They are always empty and these guys are quick, so not likely to get ticket or tow..
We love this place. It's the best Phillys place around !! Their Philly cheese steak fries are the BOMB. We tried those for the first time today. We always order their Italian Hoagies with extra pepper spread and we split a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. Wash it down with a Can of Black Cherry Soda !!! The guys who run the place are super nice. Every time I go in there, they always remember my name :) We will be back ❣
I love me some Philly cheese steaks. One of the best places in town that I've found so far. The quality of rolls and meat that they use make a great combination. Their fries are usually well cooked
I absolutely love coming here. It has been a while since I've made it in though. This is the original one I started coming to many years ago and it's nice to see they really havent changed much. High quality food. The cheese on my pepper steak was superbly melty. The peppers and onions nice and sweet. I just got the regular fries this time, even though I do like me some pizza fries.
Not being a native of Philly, I don't know how authentic they are per se but Philly's Best is great stuff. Been going on and off since the 90s and always enjoyed them. My only gripe (and a small one at that) is their cheese steaks are way too filling so it's impossible to try anything else. Split one with a friend so you can justify a tastykake or something else.
Raul and Esteban, where do I begin. Through what seems to be a crazy rush. These two skimmed through the cooking and ordering process like Champs. I mean no compromise on anything from service to the speed of getting my food! Thank you guys for the delicious meal! Best in town, flavor and service!
Whether or not this place lives up to the name is certainly open to interpretation, but I'd say whether or not it's true doesn't matter that much when the sandwich is just really good anyway! The cheese is melted just the way you expect it to be, the bread is toasted enough that it doesn't get soggy, and the proportions of everything is just right so you get that perfect mix of everything in every bite.
I believe that this was their first location and I have been going there almost from the beginning, since the early nineties. As a Philly guy, this is where I get my healthy fix of hoagies! I now travel internationally but Philly's Best was on my list to come back to for the food as well as the nostalgia
Philly’s Best is a cheesesteak with sweet peppers and mushrooms. This cheesesteak is exactly what I want when I crave one – thinly sliced, juicy steak, gooey cheese, sweet grilled peppers and onions, and earthy mushrooms that soak up all of the beefy juices from the grill. The Amoroso bread is like a French and sourdough mix of flavors and chewy interior. Rating: 5/5 Cheesesteak Fries are French fries topped “wit” cheese sauce, thinly sliced steak, and onions. If you love “loaded fries” like I do, you need to order this! My hubby steers clear as he is not a “cheese sauce” type of guy, but when fries are in the mix, I love cheese sauce. It sticks to the fries and also helps the other toppings stick for a delicious bite every time. I love their cheesesteaks but I love the cheesesteak fries even more! Rating: 5/5 Pizza Fries are French fries topped “wit” pizza and cheese sauce. I love cheese sauce with fries but with the pizza sauce, shredded mozzarella or provolone would have been better. The creaminess of the cheese would work better with the sweetness of the pizza sauce and also go with the Italian flavor profile. It’s a smaller portion than the cheesesteak fries and works well as a side to a cheesesteak or hoagie. Rating: 4.5/5
Absolutely delicious. I got the Philly with mushrooms and peppers. Perfect amount of meat and fillings. Each bite has tons of individual flavor. The only thing I wish I would have done is to get extra cheese.
My husband was craving a Philly cheesesteak, so we decided to check out Philly’s Best Cheesesteak and wow, I’m so glad we did! I’ve always been a fan of cheesesteaks, but this place completely changed the game for me. I ordered their Classic Cheesesteak, and it was amazing the bread was super fresh, the cheese perfectly melted, and every bite was packed with flavor. The place itself was clean and well kept, which I always appreciate. The service took a little time, but honestly, the food was worth the wait. Overall, a great experience I’ll definitely be back for another cheesesteak fix!
It's been a LONG while since I've eaten at this location, and it's great to see the quality hasn't changed much in terms of their cheese steaks. I've always gone for the Philly's Best or the Pizza Cheese Steak, and this time around I introduced my family to this franchise location, and we all left very satisfied (though a little sleepy from food coma...they do not skimp on the steak here). My son and daughter are not big cheese steak fans, but they devoured their pizza steak and the pizza steak fries. The cashier was very friendly, and the cook himself brought out our order to us at our table. The service was very friendly and added to the welcoming atmosphere. Definitely bringing the family back here next visit to Irvine.
So glad I found this place! Nice and cozy sitting area, great for a quick and enjoyable lunch! Price is reasonable and food is delicious!
We visited Philly's Best in Irvine, and I am embarrassed to say it was my first time ever having a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. I had no idea what I was missing out on, and I was shocked at how delicious it was! We tried both the Philly's Best and the BBQ Cheesesteak sandwiches; and both were made-to-order, served hot, and were so incredibly tasty! Try it with provolone cheese, grilled onions, and add the peppers and pickles they give you. It is a very hearty meal, and the fries are also made to perfection!

Josh and Juan are excellent. Having worked in food service, it is obvious to see teammates with good rapport. I ordered just before a large delivery order and they got my food out to me quickly and didn't miss a beat for their delivery orders either. Very nice to see
This place by far has the best cheesesteaks in OC! Taste amazing & geat quality meat!
The staff was super friendly and nice, best service I had at a food place in a while
Excellent Philly style cheesesteaks with great bread more similar to what you would actually find on the East Coast outside Philadelphia. The bread makes all the difference.
Very chill spot, a few TVs if you want to watch sports or something. Loved all the Philadelphia themed stuff on the walls and tables. The employee working was very polite and was honestly the best part. As far as the food goes, it was okay, I’ve had better cheesesteaks but it wasn’t bad! Would definitely come back
This is true cheesesteaks at their finest. I have been going to this Philly's Best since I was in high school. I love the cheesesteak with provolone just the meat and cheese, but my wife likes to get a cheesesteak with all the veggies from the hoagies.
I'm leaving this review for Juan. This man makes me want to open up another restaurant. Customer service off the charts, food's pretty good too.
This was my first time at Phillys Best and I’m absolutely kicking myself for not giving them a try sooner. I have lived all over the country and cheesesteak is a staple comfort food for me. So when you can find authentic Philly Cheesesteaks in Southern California with freshly flown in bread and real Cheese Wiz, it’s a can’t miss. I would like to thank Josh, for taking extra care in making our sandwich’s himself, knowing it was our first time in and wanted us to have a great experience and we did. We also tried the Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich as well as the Cheesesteak Fries, both of which were packed with meat and oozing with cheese. I highly recommend an authentic Philly with Cheese Wiz if its your 1st time in, it’s a classic and done completely authentic I will be coming back regularly and will be telling everyone I know to give Philly’s Best Cheesesteaks a try.

I've gone here twice, ordering the cheesesteak both times. I'd call this place solid. I prefer the provolone cheese to the American (I know, I know). There's also a tiny bar that has unlimited pickles (both sour dill and garlic dill) and peppers. You can add fried onions to your sandwich on request, and I liked them a lot. My main complaint is that the sandwich needs more meat, and it's a little pricey for the amount of food you get. Jersey Mike's is a better bang for the buck, but they don't do cheesesteaks right there. The Tasty Kakes are a nice touch.
The only issue with this place is that the sandwiches are poorly wrapped, causing the buns to become soggy and messy. Otherwise, the food is delicious and the staff is nice. It has a bar-like atmosphere with TVs always on the sports channel which is cool.
Good pilly cheese steak Sammies! Hot and fresh. I got the 'phillys best' sandwich and if was be very nice! I prefer my cheese steaks a little spicier so will look at other other options next time I visit this establishment. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!
Having had cheesesteaks in Philadelphia I have to say this is certainly the closest out here on the west coast! Not all franchise locations are the same and certainly this one was cleaner than the one I go to up in Los angeles, however this location didn't quite have the same mushroom style (as pictured below) and didn't have the yellow banana peppers so that was a bit of a disappointment.

A very disappointing experience. I've been coming to this place for years but haven't been here since 2020. 😕 Well it seems that I should have left it at that. Ordered a Phillys best cheesesteak sandwich with fries and a drink. The meat in the sandwich had no flavor the added mushrooms were cold (supposed to be hot from just being cooked) the fries were way overcooked and dried out. This was a very disappointing dining experience, not sure if I'll come back. If I want a Philly's cheese steak sandwich maybe I'll try the Yorba Linda location instead 🤔
The cheese steaks are absolutely amazing. I only gave it 3 stars because while we were there I watched the guy on the front counter leave the cash register and go directly to placing his hands inside the onion ring bag to cook our onion rings "without" even attempting to wash them.
The sandwiches are really good except that the kid at the register named Ethan C. he was really rude and when I asked him for my receipt he said you can grab him like if I know where it was apparently no one teach that kid how to say hi or how do be polite. And while I was waiting for my sandwich I noticed that he was rude to other people too his manager should mention something.

Ok so Firstly these Philly sandwiches are good I can’t lie I’ve come 3 times total and all 3 times the taste has been consistent . Secondly these guys (they usually are a group of 3) are very quick and efficient in working together when it comes to getting your food ready. Thirdly the portion size are worth the price I’ve heard reviews saying how expensive it is which I do agree I payed around $13 tax included which is quite costly but to be fair they are very giving with the amounts of food At least in my experience. Lastly my one last thing that gets to me is the Hygiene. Me myself I take Hygiene very important these guys none of them wear gloves.. at all when they grab loafs of bread, tomato slices, lettuce, mushrooms I witnessed the guy grab it with his bare hands. I am pretty sure they will say they wash there hands with soap regularly I don’t doubt it they are busy almost 24/7 however gloves when working with food is a must as well as haircaps. They also talk a lot when they are working which doesn’t mind probably a average customer but to me it increases the chances of saliva getting on my food which kind of bothers me conversant after finishing work not while. None the less a few things to improve on and it would be 5/5
The food is decent and as expected. But wow the website is truly terrible and unusable. And they try to force you to give a 22% tip minimum for the delivery driver lol. It takes work to leave a more standard tip. Please stop outsourcing development to India!
I was offered Ranch dressing over the phone. I accepted and was charged for it. I trusted it was in the stapled shut bag when I picked it up. Got home to find out it was not. Fail. Otherwise food was good. C'mon guys.
I think, if the Philly steak falls short, it might be lacking in flavor, texture, or authenticity. I do not recommend this place!

I ordered 2 PB cheesesteaks from this location today. At 13.00 per sandwich, and with the tax, the bill Should have come to aprox. 29.00. Instead i was charged 32.00. Perhaps your employee has not gotten enough tips recently, and decided to get an easy "tip" from me. A MGR. is welcome to reply. There were other customers in the shop at the time,(11:30 -12 range) and didnt want to disturb them, so writing this instead.

staff was pretty rude to me and order took 1 hour because they had prorities for athletes who came 15minutes after i did
didn’t give me water cup even though i bought and they had it
They never get my order right. I always say no onions and then they pile them on. I repeat myself and they still can’t get it right. I don’t blame the cooks, it’s the guy answering calls that’s the problem
It's Philly's Best. An ok sandwich but this place nickel and dimes you. They only offer a large drink for $4. The employees are rude and talk about you in Spanish behind your back. I would stay away from this one as far as you can. Way better options in the area
I am done. Started out great. Next...Fries burnt, onion rings burnt. Ordered a club and got a mushy warm Philly mystery meat sandwich. NO Ranch either...2nd time. I guess no one reads OR no one cares. It's not the end of the world, but enough to ruin an evening. Preventable and inexcusable
Stopped in and both workers were sitting down eating, then got up and made my food with out washing their hands and without gloves. Disgusting. Put my sandwich in the trash and went to the Lake Forest location where they handle food properly.
This has always been my go-to lunch spot in Irvine. I’ve been coming here for over 13 years, which is why I was so disappointed with the experience tonight. We decided to grab a Philly steak around 8:30 PM. I tried calling several times to place a takeout order, but no one answered. Since I know the place well, we stopped by in person. The restaurant was still open, and my friend placed the order at the counter. I asked the cashier why no one was answering the phone. At first, they said the phone was broken—but when I dialed the number right there, it rang just fine. It was obvious they just didn’t want to answer calls because it was close to closing time. On top of that, the staff was rude and confrontational, clearly upset that we walked in and placed an order 30 minutes before closing. As a loyal customer, I wasn’t trying to cause trouble—I just wanted to make sure I hadn’t dialed the wrong number and understand why no one was answering. This isn’t the type of service I’d expect after supporting a local business for so many years. Ignoring calls and treating customers poorly not only costs sales but also hurts the reputation of a place many of us have always loved.
