The staff is incredibly kind, warm, and attentive – you can truly feel that they care about their guests. Chef Luis San Martin is an absolute master. Every dish was beautifully presented, perfectly balanced, and full of flavor. You can taste the quality, the creativity, and the passion in every bite. It’s not just food – it’s an experience. The atmosphere is relaxed yet elegant, making it perfect for a romantic dinner or a special night out. Everything was simply TOP – the service, the food, the vibe. Luis San Martin is the chef behind the menu at several island favorites including Rooster and North Garden. Now he is partnered with Jorge in this classic Isla bungalow called La Playita. If Luis says he has fresh fish that came in 20 minutes ago and he can make it for you - JUST DO IT. Excellent food and a slice of the almost-gone “old Isla.” Help keep it alive - your taste buds will thank you!

Zelfs de chef Louis San Martin ontmoet, ontzettend aardige gast met veel liefde voor de Mexicaanse keuken en dit tentje die hij samen met Albero runt. Ze bieden gastvrijheid en een comfortabel sfeertje met heerlijke Mexicaanse muziek en bier. Zelfs als je er als soloreiziger heen gaat. Kan ze 1000000% aanbeleven voor ieder die naar dit eiland gaat🫶

Das la tablita ist unglaublich. Due Stimmung im Restaurant ist unbeschreiblich. Extrem freundliches Personal. Auch das Essen war sehr lecker. Sehr zu empfehlen

Es un lugar emblemática de la isla, hay música en vivo, pista de kareoke, los meseros son atentos y rápidos. La botana es variada y muy rica, me encantaron las empanadas de cazón. En general un buen lugar para relajarse después de una caminata por la playa o después de trabajar.

El lugar es lindo, nos atendieron muy bien, el mesero Jorge fue muy amable y nos dio recomendaciones sobre que visitar en la isla. La comida estuvo muy rica, pedimos un ceviche y nos gustó mucho. Además, nos llevaron unas entradas de cortesía que también nos gustaron mucho. Es muy agradable visitar lugares donde la atención es así de buena.

A fantastic local bar that feels quite off the beaten track. Great for people who appreciate the local culture and are looking for something more authentic. We didn’t try the food, but the margaritas were great and the the staff were very friendly and really went out of their way to chat with us in Spanish.

Our first impression of the restaurant was a very enthusiastic customer on the front porch exclaiming how amazing the place was. By the end of our meal, we were ready to join them in raving how great the experience was! The place is overall pretty unassuming, with people mostly there to drink rather than to eat. But the food really was a treat! The chef came out at one point and was surprised at how thoroughly this group of young women cleared the plates, even gnawing down on the garnish. In addition to the amazing food, the service was incredible. Folks were very friendly, gave us free shots, and we even took selfies together. The only thing we would have done differently was to go even earlier in the day to enjoy the beer and tapas that the place is famous for :) Just tell them April, May, June, and July sent you!

This for sure a locals watering hole but we were treated super nice. Great beer prices and more authentic, rustic Mexican bar. Our ex pat locals friends love this place to start their happy hour. Fun just to sit in the window. Have a beer and watch the people go by. The art on the ceiling is also a great mural.of the whole island

The owner is usually present and I believe he said this bar has been in the family since 1946. Although this has been a favorite of mine for many years, they now are serving meals with a fantastic menu. Really the cheapest beer in el centro. Everyone from the staff to other local customers are very friendly. If you like beer and watching people in the street, this is your place. I love the traditional Mexican vibe.

The best bar on the island. Lucy and the rest of the staff are great. Excellent drink prices that typically will come with a homemade snack until they run out. Mix of locals and tourists talking and listening to the jukebox. Closed Sunday and not open real late other days.

A Mexican cantina not your typical tourist bar, be open minded and go local. Cheap and cheerful is only part of the attraction 🤙🏼

WARNING FOR TOURISTS- If you want to be robbed, then go here. The resturant is decorated nicely and they were playing live music albeit very loud, inside was hotter than outside but we could sit outside at a small bar area to try and enjoy the Mexican music, We asked for a menu but they didn’t have a drinks menu, but on the food menu it said a beer or water was 45 pesos….. We had one normal margarita, one Mexican beer, and a bottle of water, when we asked to pay, we were told 290 Pesos! Considering water and beer on the menu was 45 so totalling 90 pesos, 200 pesos for a margarita was not right, I’ve been in many places much fancier and the most I’ve paid for a Margarita was 180x We paid 300 Pesos and left. A very bitter experience, no margarita salt pun intended!

If you want the worst, made from mix, margarita that you’ve ever had for 165 then try this place. 120-150 almost everywhere else on the island. Such a scam and never answered how much it was. Not even worth 100 pesos.

We went there for a drink. Everything was fine until bill came in. Waitress counted something in the head and gave us sum out the blue. There are different prices for locals and tourists and most of them are not in the menu.
