Had breakfast here on the first day of our visit. First experience having grits apparently, thought I had eaten them in the army but nothing like these! Would like to try more of their menu but they are off to a great start in my book.
The burger was absolutely amazing!! Family decided to go here two days in a row just because the burger was so good!! Highly recommend
This was a very pleasant, quick lunch for us since we have a wedding to go to later. I loved my she-crab soup. My wife loved her shrimp cocktail. Service was excellent. Perfect little spot. Would go there for a regular meal.
I've never had a bad meal or bad experience here. We travel to Wild Dunes frequently for vacation from Ohio and always enjoy the food at Coastal Provisions. I love their breakfast overnight oats, and the dinners have been spectacular. Most recently I tried the dueling lamb, and it was one of the best meals I've ever had. Staff are always so kind and accommodating.
This chef is the best in Charleston and surrounding areas. We have been to many restaurants in the area and the food served here is 10/10 top quality. My son (who I am nursing) has a dairy allergy that has prevented me from eating anything containing dairy for 6 months. Every restaurant I have been to seems to use butter or some form of dairy in their preparation of the food. This restaurant was able to accommodate my dairy allergy with food items already listed on the menu. We had lunch and dinner and both meals were absolutely fantastic. They even had a dairy free desert option. I never write reviews but found it necessary because this restaurant has hands down the best food we have had in isle of palms and even in Charleston. Thank you to the chef for giving me my best dinning experience in 6 months!!!
Amazing food and staff! We are here for our honeymoon and the staff was so welcoming and accommodating. Lindsey the bartender is so pleasant and a joy to talk to, also makes delicious drinks!! Our meal was unbelievable. We shared the ribeye and we received complimentary app and drinks. Love it here and can’t wait to come back!
This place is very good. Amazing service, the manager Joshua was very nice person. The waiter Sean was very respectful and polite and was very nice to give a shark tooth. The food was very pleasant too. The ambiance of Costal Provisions was amazing.
Great service...very attentive bartender. Amazing food. Hands down one of the best steaks I've ever had right here at the resort. They offer a 8 oz. Filet cooked perfectly with truffle along with a special chef's vegetable which happened to be black eyed peas with pork belly (soooooo good!) This is a must which coming to Charleston.
Our favorite restaurant during our trip to Charleston for Christmas holiday! Steak was cooked and seared to perfection. Truly perfectly in every way! Our teen daughter (picky!) loved this restaurant as well. Great ambiance and service -- very personable. Restaurant is located inside the resort, and valet parked our car. We had a small hiccup and left our credit card there -- Christopher and staff BROUGHT IT TO OUR HOTEL 25 minutes away later that evening. We just could not be more grateful. The desserts were to die for! Really unique restaurant. We thought it was a sister restaurant to one in the Outer Banks, but it was not. Great experience and highly recommend!
What a delight it was to enjoy breakfast each morning at Coastal Provisions! We had the chance to dine indoors by the cozy fireplace a few mornings and outside on the lightly sun drenched covered patio the other couple mornings of our vacation. Patrick, Sean, and the entire team made us feel right at home, had our order and preferences quickly memorized, and catered to our family’s every need. Their ability to anticipate needs and provide warm service is unmatched. The food and coffee was outstanding. We will be truly sad to miss their breakfast and hospitality upon departure!
Amazing food and service. Best meal I’ve ever had. The waiter catered to the food allergens our family members had and even brought out some birthday truffles for my mother’s birthday! Would recommend to anyone in the area!!
JoeJoe and Jessica are masters at crafting the perfect drinks, both alcoholic and coffeehouse drinks. They are friendly, efficient, and fun, the food here is amazing, the truffle fries are sinful, everything we had here was delicious, you won’t regret dining here or just spending time at the bar talking to one of the awesome bartenders. Highly recommend the bar and the restaurant.
We expected to be shocked by the prices, reading reviews, but it wasn't bad for resort food. Our server, Connie, knew the menu so well, and by the end of our meal we felt like vest friends. We booked the wrong cabana by mistake, but Chris bent over backwards to make sure we were accommodated anyway. Over the course of our stay, the restaurant felt like the heart of the hotel, and their staff were more like a concierge than waiters.
We absolutely loved Coastal Provisions. Chelsea, our server, was the BEST. She understood our daughter’s gluten allergy and was able to ensure her lunch was delicious and kid-friendly. I would highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast, lunch, or dinner - especially if there are any food allergies involved.
My husband and I stayed at the Wild Dunes Resort for our honeymoon and this was our favorite breakfast spot. The service was phenomenal and the environment was serene. The southerner breakfast meal was also incredible
This place is worth a visit for sure. Pleasant outdoor deck overlooking pool. The filet was superb , and was well prepared great quality beef. My friend’s chicken was excellent too as were the fingerling potatoes Connie provided solid service I hope to go back !
As a local but for business, I’ve been three times in three months. Brand new menu just dropped this week and it was wonderful, and we loved it before. Manager (sommelier) was friendly, knowledgeable, and generous. Ask for a bottle of the Lebanese wine he gifted our table. You will not be disappointed.
We entertained 12 friends and family for our 50th anniversary -- and could not be happier. Both our server, Liane and Josh, the General Manager were extremely kind, courteous and professional in every regard. The food was exceptional and the attention to detail for us and our guests was awesome. We entertain a lot, and will plan to visit Coastal Provisions often thanks to this experience. ed & lucy s
We had a lovely lunch on a Thursday afternoon. Small menu with what appears to be local ingredients (you would see some used a few times in various ways and I love that), pleasant ambiance, professional staff, and good service. We had the butterbean hummus and salads. The cocktails were good as well. I know there are negative reviews especially on service. But we did not experience that and everyone should get a pass in 2001.
For the restaurant week special menu. Service was outstanding. My salad was delicious and it was plenty of it I got to the day was cooked perfectly over a number of deliciously prepared vegetables I absolutely loved it. The cheesecake for dessert was second to none.. I totally enjoyed my dining experience
I believe the chef's name is Kevin, he's doing great things with the food here and the only reason it gets lower reviews is because a lot of people that are traveling seem to be miserable and love to complain about price but you've got to understand you're staying at a resort. I think the food is outstanding and well worth the money.
I was little worried about food in this place but that was unnecessary. This place is absolutely amazing. I had 2 dinner and breakfast at this place. I literally tired every single menu. Most of them are great flavors and super fresh. But only sad thing is not many options and menu. But great outdoor seat right next to the poor and 1 floor of my room. So overall it was amazing.
Sean and Jerome were excellent! We only had breakfast there three times on our stay but both waiters were the epitome of southern gentlemen and charm. Thank you to you both for making our stay so amazing :)
Our server Connie was fantastic. Wonderful knowledge of the menu, attentive, warm and genuine. The food was excellent. Belle Du Jour Oysters were some of the best i've had..and the lamb dish was cooked beautifully. Bravo guys!
We had excellent service. Connie was our server, friendly, delightful very knowledgeable on each menu item. We had the scallop dinner special and it was delicious. The drink she recommended for us to try raspberry lemon drop was also great. We will be returning and again Connie is and excellent server
Perfection. Our server Connie is always the absolute BEST, as usual. We have been coming for years for our date night and we are always so pleased with the love + kindness we are shown. A+++
This was quite a while ago when I visited SC. I really like the atmosphere both indoor and outdoor seating. I really like the indoor design and enjoyed the outdoor esp with a really nice weather. Even though for outdoor, you will be by the pool and pool sometimes has lot of visitors and it was a bit weird to kind of looking them swimming and it could be loud. The service was okay as well with the food, and of course it’s pricey. When I am visiting, I like to eat smaller portions on different places so we order some appetizers. I recommend this place just to get the experience.
SNAPSHOT = dinner 3 years ago was good, but Coastal reallly shines as a great spot for drinks and starters - details below. Loved the oysters. Poke was fantastic. Poke stood out by being spicy with tamarind and garlic. Good bartenders.
Ate at this restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was great, food was good and a fun place. However, it is a little pricey considering the quality of the food. If you are a foodie, do not think Wild Dunes is a top option. The food is very resort-y but if you’re like me, you enjoy that just fine.
The dinner I had deserves a 5* hands down. Incredible. Subtle unique flavors, very well seasoned and service was great. We loved it so much we returned a few days later for lunch and unfortunately whoever the cook is during lunch time doesn't compare to the Chef during dinner shift. I was actually disappointed with lunch. Lunch was under seasoned and bland. I literally tried it and left it uneaten.
There are actually 2 reviews here, breakfast is a 5 star but dinner is lower at 3 stars. First breakfast ... It is a bit pricey but that is the norm for a hotel restaurant. The food was fresh and prepared very well. The portions were generous and the service was excellent. The server kept our coffees filled and checked in regularly. The bacon was perfectly crisp without being overcooked and the sausage links were large and well seasoned. The grits and potatoes were excellent although I did add salt and pepper to the grits. Dinner was a bit of a disappointment. Starting with the appetizers which were the star ... the Caesar salad was perfect with shaved cheese. The croutons were flavorful and the dressing nice and sharp with good hints of anchovies. The charcuterie was appropriately sized and the cherry vinaigrette went well with the meats and cheese. Portion size was small. The entree food portions were small and not well seasoned. My wife got the she crab soup as an entree and it was overly salty. The gnocchi was starchy and not as flavorful as I expected from the description. The promised sauce was hard to find. The bread basket had the tiniest corn muffins I have ever seen and the biscuits were dry and seemed left over from the mornings' service. At $7, I do not recommend adding the bread basket.
Very much resort style "fine dining". We ate a relatively late dinner which may have been our mistake, I had white fish dressed with muscles. The fish was dry and the muscles were rubber. My date had a salad which was okay but pretty small. We were offered dessert and a tack on option was a chocolate chip cookie which we opted for, as it wasn't on the menu the price came as a bit of a shock at the end when each cookie was $7, though in fairness was not bad. Our waiter was attentive but not particularly knowledgeable. I would encourage those considering here to opt for the 10 minute ride to town where more plenty options were much tastier and much more reasonably priced.
It’s a perfectly pleasant place to eat but they seem quite focused on the upsell. $8 for a bread basket that had 2 tiny muffins and a slice of baguette. Or $55 for the filet mignon which was just a piece of meat on a plate - nothing else. The tomato salad was, meh. There are limited places to eat on Wild Dunes and we didn’t feel like driving. I guess they’re counting on that.
I had the she crab soup for lunch on a weekday. She crab is one of my favorite soups and one that I eat out often. This was one of the worst. It lacked flavor and crab. Additionally, I had the shrimp empanadas. Again, my complaint is the lack of seafood for the price. I did think the sauce for the empanadas was good. The atmosphere at this restaurant used to be very relaxing, but this time the pool was very crowded and loud for a weekday.
The cornbread was dry, the shrimp croquettes were mushy, tasted like unseasoned mashed potatoes. Chicken was dry, needed hot sauce. Connie was excellent! Service superb. Now, breakfast was decent. Grits were creamy, tasty and worth it.
Food was pretty good. Very overpriced and small portions. Not a large menu selection.
While a certain amount of overpricing is expected at WD ... this restaurant is over the top. The pork chop had a good flavor, but was small and without extra sides I left hungry. Our server did not know the menu and advised me that an extra side was not necessary...overall a poor experience given the price.
Love sitting outside and eating here. Food is always good ( a little pricey for whah you get) but takes a VERY long time to come out. We were seated at 7:45 and didn’t get our food until 8:58. We have little kids and that wait is just too long. The same thing happened last year. And while waiting we didn’t see our waitress to get more water / refills so we had to stop other waiters walking by.
Fun space and beautiful ambiance. Outdoors is a little buggy with flies but comes with the space. Their crab bisque soup is delicious. I got their summer seafood special. Unfortunately a clam was unopened and when opened, was full of mushy black sand which was a little unappetizing and I couldn’t get the sand texture out of my mouth, as it mixed with the dish. I legit thought it was something else but realized it was gooey sand. Sent it back to inform the chef but that was that. Fairly pricey but what you’d expect for the location. Cocktails (and mocktails) were really good.
I’ve eaten here twice (today and September of 2020) and both times I was underwhelmed and sadly disappointed. Each time we had issues with our order (the first time they made it right and this time I didn’t even bother saying anything). Wild Dunes is such a wonderful place to stay and the menu at Coastal Provisions looks great. But, the truffle fries tasted like cafeteria food, the mac and cheese was subpar, and the Cesar salad was too fishy. It’s sad for something so expensive and we ended up having to toss half of it. On a positive note, I will say they have the best she crab soup I’ve ever had and I will return to get that… but just that.
Our server was a great guy, but the food prices and portions were terrible. It is an overpriced à la carte menu with small portions. My husband ordered the monk fish special and received a three inch filet, not nearly enough to fill him up for the $30 meal price. After my husband questioned the small portion, they brought him a swordfish replacement, which was a bigger filet, but chewy in texture. My steak was good, but the loaded baked potato side dish was not fully cooked. The red flag should have been the fact that we had to pay for our bread basket, it was $7 for four mini corn muffins and two mini biscuits. Save your money and find one of Charleston’s many wonderful restaurants.
I'm okay with expensive if the food and service are good. The food was not good and the service no better. "Oops I forgot to get you bread" at the end of the meal. And entree served before appetizer plates cleared. Not a happy birthday dinner experience at all. With so many wonderful restaurants to choose from in Charleston, this will not be one I will return to.
Super casual bar & grill posing as a high end restaurant. $70 Prime Angus Ribeye was one of the worst steaks I’ve had. Denny’s could’ve honestly done a steak more proud. My buddy and I both ordered the most expensive steak on the menu and what we received was a low quality product, over cooked, poorly seasoned and almost tasted like a frozen steak. $8 for a bread basket with 3 hard pieces of “artisan” bread and a small cast iron skillet of dry cornbread. $12 fingerling potatoes were bland and soaked in garlic butter, swimming in it actually. To top it off, we split the $16 Caesar Salad and they tried to charge us $6 extra for splitting it. Out tab was over $200 for two of us and that “splitting charge” was insult to injury. I would not recommend this overpriced fraud of a fine dining experience. $265 after tax and tip and I could’ve ate a better meal at Chili’s. The waitress who provided our barely adequate service was lucky I’m not a jerk so I still tipped her $40. Stay away!
Had brunch here, limited menu was pretty expensive. $23 for an omelette with no sides, but mine had a piece of wood from seemingly a broken spoon / spatula mixed in. Coffee had an oily weird aftertaste.
The atmosphere is nice. The food is overpriced and not that great. Shrimp and grouper were overcooked. Hush puppies too salty. Drinks are good but overpriced.
Our server was super nice. Everything else wasn’t good. When we arrived there was lots of available seating, but no hostess. We stood outside for several minutes and then eventually had to ask a hotel staff if she would locate a person working in the restaurant, which she was super kind about and we were finally sat. Our food was SO expensive and BLAND, very obviously frozen and reheated. But our server (a gentleman with tan skin tone and arm tattoos, I’m sorry I don’t remember his name) was very kind. I would avoid this spot for your wallet and your stomach’s sake.
We visited this place during our stay at Boardwalk Inn. The menu was limited. The Shrimp Hush puppies and She Crab Soup were OK in taste.
We stated at the Wild Dunes in 2021, there was a guest chef who prepared a magnificent dinner. We also had breakfast and it too was wonderful. This trip April 2022 we went back looking for the same superior food quality. Unfortunately, we were so disappointed. The food was so overpriced and we refused to order entrees and opted for the overpriced, but lowest priced food on the menu ( appetizers ) The shrimp hushpuppies were nothing related to shrimp nor hushpuppies. More like a hard lump of Purina, best description. We also tried the special, oysters on the shell. They were the size of your thumb nail, then the shell was filled with colored bread crumbs. They served 4 on the plate at $5 a piece! Horrible tasting mix of bland sand. On this vacation we have eaten across the country. Worst food I have ever eaten. They need to find a chef! What they are charging they should be able to pay for a really good one!
Almost $40 for this abomination of food no bigger than a dinner roll. Even the waiter was embarrassed to serve us this. Don’t go here. A single entree and a single drink costs you near $100. Absolutely ridiculous. Do better.
Vacationers are warned to avoid this restaurant. It took an hour and 45 minutes for the food to come out cold. The portion sizes were minuscule and all left very hungry and unimpressed.
