My husband and I visited this establishment for the first time and it won't be the last. We loved the food and the service, very friendly environment and staff. Our food got to our table fairly quickly and the waitress was very courteous to us. Her suggestions on the menu were excellent and very helpful. I highly recommend it 👌🏼 👍🏼 😌

Our waiter (apologies for the name slip) struck the perfect balance—attentive without being clingy. 10/10 for customer service! Husband enjoyed the Cowboy Steak. As for me, the marinated burger was like a secret whispered by the culinary gods. Each bite was a flavor explosion—a symphony of juicy ecstasy that made my taste buds do the cha-cha. I attended my friend’s birthday dinner party, here last night, and the food was very good. I ordered the coconut shrimp, which was tasty and I would definitely recommend. The Caesar salad was good. For my entree, I ordered the ribeye, medium well, it was huge, cooked to perfection, and succulent. My steak was served with flavorful broccoli and mashed potatoes. Regarding the mashed potatoes, they were flavorful, however, they should’ve been thicker, The place has a rustic vibe, which is fine. Kudos to our waitress, Cathy she was amazing! Cathy was friendly, attentive and got our orders correct. We had a large party, so other staff came in, to assist Cathy and they were great as well. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I would recommend and return to this restaurant.

With the great choices and delicious food that they have on their special $10.99 to go menu , plus the friendly courteous staff that meet you when you pick up your food , my family will never go to McDonald's again. Plus if you want it delivered you can order through Doordash. If you choose to stay at the restaurant they have options to fit any budget and it is all yummy. One day when I am brave enough I will try the 76 ounce challenge.

So for Date night we decided to go to JRsteakhouse in islip . We looked at the menus and thought we would give it a try. I called to see if we needed to make a reservation and they said we didn’t need one. We got there at 6:30 on a Friday night and the place was crowded. The hostess as well as the manager both greeted us . We got a table right away and our waiter came right over and introduced himself and took a drink order. The place looks clean and organized. Knowing it’s not a high end steakhouse I wasn’t expecting a high end steak . We ordered some wings to start and they were very good , we had a salad , filet mignon , NY strip . 3 sides and a dessert. As far as the food it was pretty good . As far as the service it was top notch, we could not believe how good everyone was. As soon as a plate was emptied someone came right over to get it . One of my pet peeves are to not have an empty drink and again as soon as my drink was empty the waiter was there with another ( I had 4 drinks ) . I liked seeing the manager walking around and asking if everything was okay, the manager here has this place running smooth. Then the bill came , so we had a full meal with an app and dessert and it was less than a hundred bucks . Overall it was a really good night and we will definitely put JR Steakhouse into our rotation.

Came here last week spoke with a gentleman named Frank who was the manager. He introduced himself very politely and explained all the specials to us they also have a Sunday-Thursday children eat free option, as well as serving Veterans a special on Tuesdays. I love this restaurant for this cause and will continue to support this business.

We were on our way home from taking a ride to make a donation to Angels of Long Island. We passed this place and the truth is I thought it was on the water so we made a U-turn and went back. It actually is not on the water, but we stayed and we had Theresa as our waitress. She was excellent. We also met Frank the MOD. He told us the story of his beautiful son Michael! The food was excellent. I had the rice bowl with rare steak and a glass of wine. The upsell of $7.99 extra for a glass of wine and a salad and cheesecake was well worth it! our server was fun and attentive, and we can’t wait to go back again for veterans night which are Tuesday nights. Veterans eat for free with the purchase of another entrée! I think the only person I felt sorry for was the server because the prices were so inexpensive. We definitely doubled her tip! I highly recommend.

There was about a 10 minute wait but it was well worth it. J&R's has a midwest ristic hometown feel about it. The waitstaff is extremely attentive and the place is very clean. Now the Steaks are very good and made to order. I really liked the signature steak sauce😋 I had the JRs Steak marinade. My husband had the Shrimp scampi he said it was good. Everyone else in our party of six said their food was really good. Then they made our night by serving not only cheesecake but delicious brownie sundaes. Yes a fantastic end for a good meal.

Delicious food. They have an amazing Veterans Day menu and deals for Veterans. It was lovely to have so many men and women who served as well, around us all that day. I've been here before, the food and service is always great.

I am PRAYING that this review gets to someone at J&Rs. The fact that the bean and pasta salad served at the begging of the meal is not available to purchase for takeout is a travesty. I would empty my pockets multiple times a week. I dream about that pasta salad. Everything else is a 10/10. We love it here.

I love this place it’s great food and nice staff. The prices went up recently but still has an amazing special that start as low as 10.99. I like the French dip. Very good! I just wish they didn’t serve small cups because when the dining room gets busy sometimes it might be a while to get a drink refill.

Quick seating and in minutes, Ryan was at the table inquiring of our drink order. The table was continually observed and waited upon. Ryan, our waiter was perfectly suited to the service as he answered menu questions, ensured the food met our expectations, did continual drink refills, and was certain to ask if there was anything else we desired before closing out the sale. It is a comfortable and family-friendly environment. There were birthday recognitions and new memories of laughter being established as a result of enjoying J&R's restaurant and its offerings. Friendly local steakhouse with decent steaks at good prices. Their meat quality are mostly on point. Where else can you get a four course tomahawk steak for less than $40? Their prime rib is also very delicious. My only gripe is that they sometimes overcook their meats so I tend to order rare instead of medium rare to compensate. They also have pretty big portions here so it's rare to finish everything.

Very affordable lunch alternative from the typical fast food take out. Chicken pot pie full of vegetables, gravy, good consistency, good flavor not over salted. Could use a touch more chicken but for 10.99 on the lunch menu it was way more then expected. Good size portion. Pot roast, tender not over cooked. The red cabbage served hot has just enough viniger to give it a zing but not overpowering. Enjoyed the meal. Salad comes with the lunch specials, very fresh, crispy variety of greens with cucumber and tomato. Variety of dressings, I had Italian vinigeret, home made not from a jar.

When it comes to atmosphere, it's OK because of the updates. It's homey, but not a typical steakhouse. I would call it an informal steakhouse with the diverse crowd. Jeans and a t-shirt is normal with a 50 dollar steak VS feeling like you need a shirt with buttons and maybe a belt. I'd go again and I'd reccomend it to anyone who wants great food.

I guess the help wanted signs were more than a sign. The drinks were trash for 17$, a jack and coke, not a hard one. The salad and pickels they give you definitely didn't taste like the others, and it was barely full. The waitress was nice,but I explained what I wanted and she was no help, wasn't told about the menu. The menu is a mess and a little confusing for me. My steak was good, though.

Food was good but I order the complete meal and when the bill came I was charged alacart, when I questioned it that said we gave you the beer in a bottle not a glass so it doesn't count as part of the special, wound up paying 10 dollars more then I should have, probably go elsewhere next time. In response to the owners statement I know the menu said tap beer and when we order we told the waitress that we were having complete meals and when she brought the beers she said something about having a problem with the tap. You staff not doing the right thing has cost you a customer.

It was ok, been here years before, and it hasn't changed. I had steak, hubby had a roast beef sandwich, wasn't all that. The upcharge for soup or salad, wine or beer and cheesecake dessert is definitely worth the charge

So it was years ago when I gave this steak house not such a great review. Now my family and I have been back here about a dozen times in the past few months. I will tell you that I removed my old post. Gave them a five star review in all categories. This place has done such a turn around over the years. Every time, great, pleasant and friendly service. The food, the steaks, OMG so perfectly cooked, tender and presentation is beautiful! The prices are so awesome, no high-end pricing here! It's very affordable, especially for a family! I highly recommend going here!

Went to eat dinner on Veterans Day with my wife and her aid. Ordered 3 filet mignon was told by waiter they ran out. Ordered instead 3 prime ribs. They were the worst prime ribs ever on the way out we told mgr. how disappointed we were. He said we shy have told him and he would ordered something else for us. Talk about going downhill: Kept getting told how great J&Rs was by my bf who would semi-regularly meet his friends there. Yesterday I went too. Calamari appetizer, a rib eye lunch special each. Calamati was best; crispy & tasty, and enough for four. Lobster bisque was also tasty, & an actual full bowl (yay!!!). (I did keep wondering how much salt they used.) Restaurant had decent amount of patrons for lunch, quiet, relaxed atmosphere perfect for conversations. Too close to next table though, I had trouble getting out of my window seat. Steak arrived looking more medium [well?] than medium rare and was at least one third fat. Bf actually put ketchup on his, I tried using the cinnamon butter which has come with the sad looking, shriveled, [but tasty!] sweet potato. All four of us mentioned too much fat on our steaks, with his friends commenting how down downhill the food had gone. (Fat in accompanying photo is all from my piece alone. You can also see how well done my steak is.) We understand "shrink-flation", where one gets less for the same $, but this was smaller size as well as lower quality. No, I/we did not mention the steak(s) to our waiter. Friends said the quality was a repeat of other recent trips. Was told by bf, J&R just lost their business as they were taking it off their rotation of restaurants to meet at. Low overall rating due to the main meal (steak) in a steak house, not(!) the service.

Got rid of the brisket bites, was disappointed as that was one of the only things I ate there. Got the Fish and Chips. Fries tasted like they had been frozen same for the fish, had a very slight freezer burn taste. Still ate it because there was nothing else I really liked. Sangria was basically watered down red wine. Wasn't offered dessert. Keep going in hopes of having a good experience but so far only happened once.

Filling was made with tons of cornstarch instead of gravy so the consistency was gross and vegetables were awful, too much celery over powered the dish. Whole dish had very little chicken. Even the sweet tea was disgusting, had the worst after taste. I went as a group and most of us were not impressed. Poor food quality overall, not going back.

To say our experience tonight was bizarre is an understatement. I ordered the cowboy steak medium rare. I cut into the steak and it was tough and overcooked. I cut into the center and it was overcooked. Our waitress came over, she was very nice and I have no issues with her and I showed her the steak. She agreed it was overcooked, she walked over to the manager and said “ another ones overcooked” the manager came over and looked at it with a flashlight and agreed it was over cooked and said he’ll be right back with a new steak. Moments later another woman came over and insisted that I get up and look at the steak in different lighting, she insisted it was the lighting. She disappeared into the back, then all the lights came on full brightness in the bar area and she returned with my steak and said this is our medium rare. My girlfriend was mortified, I was speechless. She kept repeating if I wanted rare, order it rare. I accepted the overcooked steak. When the check came for the full amount none the less I asked who that woman was that raised the lights our waitress said she’s a waitress here who picked up a few manager shifts. I paid the bill and left. I have been coming to J and R’s for the better part of the last 20 years sadly this will be my last time.

I've been a customer for over 20 years, but the last meal was so much of a rip-off, I decided to write this review. I usually go and order the steak and shrimp. Over the past 6 months, the steak size was secretly reduced from 16 oz, to 6oz, and finally to a paltry 3oz. "What is this? A steak for ants?" A miser steak from a miser steakhouse.

Worst experience. Sat for 45 minutes. Asked twice for a server. Finally came and gave us some BS excuse why we sat so long. There was one other table occupied when we got there. After we sat, 3 or 4 more tables sat and were waited on immediately. Put in our food and drink order all at once because of the wait. Drinks never came until one in our party went to the bar and got them herself. Our server was overheard telling the barmaid we were the table from hell. We got up and left. The manager apoeared out of nowhere and offered another waitress. What would be the point by that time? Someone different to spit in our food? Have been going there for years and nothing like this has ever happened. It’ll be a long time before we go back, if at all.

I just got a three-course meal for I want to say $49.00ish this is what they consider a three-course meal an app I got mozzarella sticks, a nice steak kind of.. They consider a side salad a "Course" No dessert . just dont understand . Please Explain... spoke to the manager and was told that he agrees and will run it up the ladder to the owner what the hell was that all about? Is what it is I guess

I went out to lunch with my wife, mother in law and 3 year special needs son. My son was sitting on his chair drinking his apple juice and having his lunch and inbetween watching Disney plus on my phone. Mostly locked in on Curious George. My son was not being disruptive (not running around, throwing objects on the floor, not throwing silverware). He let out a short yelp 3 times at the table. I literally just said to my my wife I was going to walk him outside whe the manager had the audacity to come to the table and say if he keeps this up we have to leave. He said wow what happened he was behaving so well when he came in?? Again a 3 year old boy sitting still at the table keeping to himself and yelled in a practically empty restaurant.And on another note there were 3 maybe 4 other tables being waited on in the entire restaurant portion.I don't know if the manager has kids or grandkids but is extremely rude and out of line. Anyone with young kids this place is not for families especially if you have little ones that let out a yelp here and there. I drove 40 minutes out here to have a nice lunch with my wife and mother in law and son and have not been disrespected this way before. In my 38 years I have never been asked to leave a restaurant as a child, young adult now as a parent with young kids. The back staff was even being interacting very nicely with us and our son. The back staff and server was around when we were to me when we couldnt stay if he kept up his "bad behavior". The server even apologized to me for being asked to leave. We picked up our stuff and said we will pay and leave. I was even going to bring desert home to my other kids and did not. I would be more then welcome to have an open conversation with the owner about this. I have how many pictures of him sitting there watching Disney plus on my phone, eating and drinking. And also you can clearly see how empty the restaurant was. I truly don't understand the reason he had the need to come up to us and make a comment about my special needs child that let out 3 yelps becuase he liked hearing his voice echo in the empty restaurant. The irony in all this was when we walked in past the bar the bar, yes the bar filled with adults (all over the age of 21) was 20xs louder then my kid but no one was spoken to in the bar or asked to leave just me and my family?? Again I welcome having a conversation to see what he did that was so wrong other then make a few noises that the manager had a problem with. My wife even told him he has special needs and his response was bluntly I did not know. Not looking for sympathy but he needs to think before he speaks for something so minimal as making 3 noises. I don't know if he forgets at one point he was a young kid and shockingly it's what kids do. And my wife and I are on top of our kids and go out all the time with them and make sure we walk around with them and take them outside if need be. I don't need to be told that by some random person that is just looking to swipe my card when im done eating and treat me like garbage. Again as i said in my post by coming over to say we would have to leave if he does not stop is not the same as "recommending a stroll". And Im embellishing and exaggerating as to what really occurred? Was he constantly yelling, crying, throwing items, not sitti g in his seat. The answer is no. But you know what really happened apparently. I would not allow my child to yell over 10x as you have said because you were counting i am sure, in any place. 80 percent of the time we were there he did not make a sound but because multiple tables (the whole 4) complained about him. And I do not post any reviews on any forum. This is my first one. Only this time after this horrible experience have I decided to make my first post because the way we were treated. And funny how you say out of respect for me in your reply. Now on another online forum you're respectful when everyone sees my post and your reply. And of course you're saying I embellished based on what YOUR STAFF and customers that complained.
