Zoran Mamdani said this was his favorite restaurant so it was worth checking out for the first time. The food was quite good. I enjoyed their goat biryani and kebabs. Not to mention that the outdoor plaza is nice and the restaurant is large and accommodating for large families. Although something to note: there are no elevators so the upstairs is not accessible for people with wheelchairs. We had to wait 40 minutes for a large party of nine on a busy Saturday night which was understandable. The Kashmiri chai was not good and is worth skipping.

Kababjees has authentic Pakistani cuisine and is located in the heart of New York. The Restaurant offers a very wide range of food and specialized in Catering for large occasions. Management is very caring and actively involved in community affairs. The place needs refurbishment & needs to come.back strong with an appealing ambiance. Extremely disappointed. I ordered the breakfast platter featuring paratha, chana, and halwa, but the experience was ruined by the mashed potatoes, which had a foul, spoiled smell (got replaced by mixed vegetables). Between the high prices and the questionable freshness, I won’t be returning. Save your money and go elsewhere.

First off the food is good, notthe greatest, but especially the biriyanis and mixed grills are a try. But, the service was truly disappointing. The waiter first took the order patiently and promptly, but when we needed anything in between, they'd just run in circles. We wanted to give them a pass, even though staffed well, maybe a busy night so we were patient for their response. However, we waited almost half an hour waiting for response which delayed the food as well. At one instance, the waiter said the goat Karahi would take time when we wanted to place an order for it, but he started walking away just as soon as we said cancel it in that case. And assuming he heard us, we decided we were done eating, waited for him to get the check. But they brought the curry in 20 minutes, and when we tried to talk to them about it they just dismissed us and said " No cancel". We honestly did not want to tip them. But the waiter decided to stay at our table with the bill, to wait for our tip patiently. And he laughed at our 15% and left. In sum they did not pay attention to us when we needed the service and only came by when the bill was due and the tip was needed. It's never worth eating at this place for a food that maybe good but the staff aren't attentive or caring.

I know this place since the time it opened up more than 30 years ago and initially, visited couple of times. Lately, I was in the neighborhood with my family for Mother’s Day shopping and since there’re no more any good Halal Mughlai food eateries left in Jackson Heights now, I returned to it after almost 30 yrs but it’s a disappointment. They’ve a nice family hall and we ordered couple of food items but except two of them, Bihari Kebab and Nihari which’re okay not great, nothing else was good. The so-called Golla Kabab $10.99 for 2 pcs were nothing but burnt beef kabab. I come from Old Delhi and know the taste of Golla Kabab better than anybody else. The meat was stale, blend and tasted sour. Out of 2 pcs 1-1/2 pcs were left uneaten by a family of 5. The Karahi chicken $17.99 wasn’t Karahi taste at all but like a regular chicken curry with a punch of black pepper. The service and ambience is reasonable but the food taste and quantity sucked for the price of the food. It seems the place got extremely commercialized at the cost of it’s own goodwill.

This place is pure hype and a complete rip-off. I came with friends and we ordered a lot of food every single item tasted like it was microwaved/reheated and thrown at us. Bland, tasteless, and honestly some of the worst food we’ve ever had, which is insane considering how expensive it was. They served us on paper plates and in cheap IKEA bowls that were clearly microwaved. We’re tourists from Canada and were genuinely excited to eat Pakistani food in NYC, but this was embarrassing. We couldn’t even finish the meal and had to leave and pay again somewhere else just to eat lunch. But the worst part was the tipping situation. The waiter aggressively pressured us to tip and made it feel like we couldn’t just pay and leave. When we didn’t tip immediately the way he wanted, he got angry, emotionally volatile, and tried to publicly shame us in front of other people. My friend Taha got genuinely scared and tipped right away just to end the situation, he was literally trying to stay behind me because he felt like the waiter might lash out. That’s how hostile and intimidating it felt. It was our last day in New York and this was a horrible way to end the trip. We came because of nostalgia from growing up seeing the advertising, and wow what a disappointment. This restaurant gives Pakistani cuisine a bad name. Avoid.

I just ordered takeout of goat pulao, and this is the third time I’ve had a bad experience with this place. They often sell stale food. I got home to Long Island around 1:46 AM, warmed up the food, and it was horrible. It smelled and tasted bad. I wish I could leave a negative review for this place. I will never be returning!
