Tiny Bangladeshi spot serving incredible bhapa pitha ($2 each)—steamed rice flour cakes stuffed with coconut and date molasses. A winter tradition in Bangladesh, and they nail it here. The box arrived in the car fogged up from the sweet steam inside. No frills, just authentic. A Queens gem worth the trip.
Great food store with fresh products and excellent service! But why ask customer to zalle payment if called in advanced for take out. We ordered vapa pitha and cashier asked to zalle Simon Mia the payment. Also no receipt was given to us. Sound like that transaction never happened. Owner should pay attention to this.
I've been eating here quite often. Their food is fresh & delicious. Tried their iftaar & they didn't disappoint. My usual to go are their bubble teas & home-made achars. They have some great pastries that are like the Chinese/Korean bakeries as well. The fun part about this spot is that they have karoke. Now, where can you get a Bangladeshi karaoke in NYC? Give them a try. Their decor is beautiful too! Update: They have a lot more varieties now and live chefs making pithas. I was surprised to see the amount of snacks they have now.
Had great food good service the man on the cashier he talk so gently he take order very softly the atmosphere is so friendly everybody there like a family in my life I never see the customer service like this they all are so friendly and funnyand the food was so good and tasty the best thing everything is fresh I really love it
UPDATE: This is actually my 3rd time here & for the first time I wished it was close to my home. I don't know if the owner has changed but something has changed for better & I loved those changes . The place looks more colorful & inviting. Place looked clean . Service was much much better than my last visits. So the reason I went all the way to Jamaica , queens is because I wanted to give a taste to my coworkers of my cultural food . As a Bangladeshi I am very proud of our love for food ! So I am always bragging at work. Finally after months we finally reached there. Almost passed this store because of past experience but decided to give one more chance. And I am so glad I did. We were 11 of us & everyone loved all the snacks, winter desserts & malai cha. Yummmmm..! If it was close to manhattan I am pretty sure they would visit this place a lot. And for me I will travel 3 hours from my island to here just for the yummy food & experience! It's like all my favorite childhood favorites in one place! I am definitely coming back soon to try the rest of the food . And will update later how it goes. My coworkers thanks me so many times for introducing my cultural food to them. They said everything was amazing . So, thank you guys for the great service, warm welcome & of course for all the yummy food. And sorry for not able to take more pictures of the food lol, I was just to hyper showing them all the food & explaining everything. I forgot to take pictures of our foods ! Silly me..! So don't wait, if you are in that hillside area do give them a visit, you will love all those snacks & desserts! First time I was there the experience was better, so when I got another chance I came for second time . What a disappointment 😣🤦♀️ I hope they fix their food before we the customers stop coming … The idea for this establishment was great, just need to work real hard to keep up ! I am not trying to be that customer but I always try to be fair & honest while reviewing; nothing personal ! Customer service was ok tho. Btw the place doesn’t look clean or organized! Took my mom to eat some desi dessert. Ordered bhapa pitha, puli pitha, patishaptha, fuchka, chiken swarma . Only item we actually liked was bhapa pitha . We should have just ordered more of that . Fuchka was so cold & the chatni was so smelly ! It was real bad, after my mom told the lady about it she smelled it & through out the whole box of it. Then she goes start doing her other work . Rather then giving my mom a new chatni so she could eat her fuchka! I had to get up & tell her again & asked how we supposed to eat fuchka without chatni ! Then the patishapta was tasting weired like the mixture went bad. The puli pitha was so hard & taste awful! I am too sad to even write this review! Didn’t expect to have an experience like this here !
We went there a couple of times & each time it felt that the restaurant vive was not fully there. It feels a little weird like there's something always out of the place. The food and service were alright, pretty average. Also customers need to learn how to behave in public. Some people treat the place as their living room (not cool at all). I don't know, maybe the management may need to change the layout or something. Our best wishes to them 🙏
Disappointed with Smart Cafe 3 – Quality Has Gone Downhill Smart Cafe 3 on Hillside Ave, Jamaica, had initially impressed me with its compact setup and authentic Desi flavors. That first visit truly felt like a hidden gem. However, over the years, the quality seems to have steadily declined—and today’s visit was unfortunately the worst yet. We purchased several snacks, but what we received was far from acceptable. The items had a noticeable spoiled smell—particularly the Singara, which seemed rotten and completely ruined our appetite. The alo chop were stale, and the so-called Pati Shapta pitha was just halwa awkwardly wrapped in a dry roti—nothing like the traditional item it claimed to be. It’s disappointing to see a place with potential ignore the basics of quality control. In such a competitive area, Smart Cafe should focus on fewer items done right, rather than filling the display with subpar, possibly expired snacks. Customers deserve fresh, flavorful food—not a ruined afternoon. I traveled all the way from Long Island, hoping to relive that initial charm. Sadly, I left with nothing but disappointment. Smart Cafe, let’s be smart—quality over quantity, always.
I had a very uncomfortable experience here and felt the need to share it. After placing my order, I sat and waited for about 10 minutes. When the worker finally brought my food, he was touching my food directly with his hands. I asked for a big plate, and he told me it only comes with a small plate. I calmly asked if I could please get one extra plate. Instead of helping, he reacted rudely and again touched my food in an unhygienic way. What made the situation worse was that the manager was standing right in front of us and said nothing. There was no correction, no apology, and no concern for food safety or customer respect. This experience felt rude, rough, and very unhygienic. Food handling should always be clean and professional, and customers should be treated with basic respect. I do not recommend this location based on my experience.
Very disappointed with the cashier behavior. Left without taking any order, I literally waited patiently for 10minutes just to receive some cold and arrogant behavior from one of the cashiers. I understand the place is busy and sometimes it is overwhelming for the people working there but when you’re working on such environment, you should also acknowledge the way you’re approaching and handling the customers instead of giving away some cold behavior towards them. Never going back there.
This was by far one of the worst café experiences I’ve had. The staff showed no respect for customers waiting in line, service felt careless and attitudes came across as rude. It was clear that customer satisfaction is not a priority here. There are plenty of much better cafés nearby that offer cleaner spaces, professional service, and a more welcoming environment. I strongly recommend avoiding this place, your time and money are better spent elsewhere.
I waited 20 minutes for my pita while it wasn’t really that busy when I arrived. 10 minutes later I saw a bag of pitas randomly sitting in the counter area and asked a worker if it was mine and when mine will be ready. He said no and I have to wait for mine which will be ready soon. The bag of pitas was still in the counter when I left and they don’t know who it belongs to. Another 10 minutes later another worker asked me what I was waiting for and was talking between the other workers why I didn’t say anything which I told them I told someone. That worker I told initially was not even working and was sitting and chatting with customers like he was a customer himself. When they place orders, they do not write down the orders or do anything similar to remember the orders. I did not even receive an apology for waiting so long for my order.
I think they don’t even deserve 1 star. If you wanna clean your colon you can try their food. Nobody knows how old and rotten their foods are. You’ll have food poisoning instantly.
We went to this cafe, the young lady at the front was kind and accommodating but the food tasted old and the fried pastries were stale and the beef samosa had liver in it which was not told to us before ordering. The store was also not properly clean as the tables were not wiped down.
Food was worst test, citoy pitha was old, employee was so rude they don’t know how to do costumer service especially who was in register he touching nose clean nose front of costumer I never go this store, I feel sick when I come at home date 09/29/24 Sunday especially employees are very very rude
We go there for their Pitha. Which I believe are the only good thing in this place as they make it fresh per order. We went there few times as my wife likes their Pitha. Tried their Puri, Roll, Singaras, Pakoras, and Patties. Puries had some flavor but hard. Most of the food such look stale, such as the cakes with dried fruits on it. Tea is bland as their rolls and patties. Patties feel like we’re made with wonder bread. Evening time the place is packed. It’s also very disorganized. No price charts on display. You have your ask for price of each item.
