Opinions de Shahi Kitchen Jamaica
I recently dined at **Sahi Kitchen**, and it was an unforgettable experience! Their **Authentic Kacchhi Biryani** is simply divine—the meat is so tender, the rice is perfectly aromatic, and the flavors are rich and layered, just like the traditional style. Every bite was a burst of deliciousness! Another standout dish was their **Chicken Roast**, which reminded me of the classic *Deshi BeaBari* style—juicy, well-spiced, and cooked to perfection. The marinade had the right balance of spices, making it incredibly flavorful. And let’s talk about their **Boorhani**—it was the perfect companion to the meal! Refreshing, creamy, and just the right amount of tangy, it complemented the biryani and roast beautifully. The **staff were incredibly friendly and helpful**, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. They were attentive and ensured everything was up to the mark. The only downside? **Parking is a nightmare during the day!** It’s extremely difficult to find a spot, so I’d recommend visiting during off-peak hours or using alternative transport. Despite the parking issue, **Sahi Kitchen** is absolutely worth visiting for their amazing food and warm service. Highly recommended for biryani lovers!
One bite of Shahi Kitchen’s Kacchi and you might text your mom that you’ve found a new favorite cook. I walked in hungry, and walked out spiritually fulfilled. The service? As smooth as ghee on hot rice — polite, fast, and with smiles that make you feel like a VIP deshi guest. The staff? Honestly, friendlier than your cousin at a family wedding — and way more efficient too. Now let’s talk food: the Kacchi Biryani was a love letter to Dhaka — aromatic, perfectly layered, and the meat? So tender, it probably has a gym membership just to stay soft. The Roast Polao? Let’s just say if this dish was in a beauty pageant, it’d win Miss Fluffy & Flavorful. If you haven’t been to Shahi Kitchen yet, are you really living in New York — or just eating to survive?
I had an amazing dining experience, thanks to both the delicious food and outstanding hospitality. The dishes were flavorful, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. Nobi brother , made the evening truly memorable with his attentive and friendly service. He was knowledgeable, offered great recommendations, and ensured we had everything we needed. Excellent food and top-notch hospitality—highly recommended!
This is the best spot for biryani. I go all over the 5 boroughs and nothing matches the home cooking style until this spot. Try the goat and the super great priced Tehari. You try Tehari anywhere else they will try to sell it as a premium product and charge 15-20 but this place has so many great options that they price everything fairly Teharifor $10 flat. The goat Kachi is the best ever we’ll worth the price. And both dishes feed 2 people easily but you do not want to share trust me.
Come hungry because you'll want to try several dishes here. Goat biryani was super flavorful and tender. Chicken Jhalfry was a top 2 dish along side the tandoori baked fish!
I got Teheri and kachchi to go. Tried few bites in the car. It tasted so good, went right back and got more. After a long time had the taste of Dhaka's Food. Will definitely go back every time in the area, specially for the Teheri.
We really loved dining at Shahi Kitchen!!! From the moment we arrived until we left, everything was very well handled. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavour and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend the "TEHARI" and "KACCHI BIRIYANI". Some of the best food I've had recently!! They use the freshest ingredients and make sure each dish is done the right way! Don't miss out on trying their. The stuff here truly cares about their guests. They were attentive, Courteous and Polite. They made us feel like VIPs! I will be recommending it to all my friends and family👍
Can't recall when was the last time I had such tasty Kachchi Biryani and Beef Tehari! Strongly recommend. The owner is a very down to earth person. Ambiance, cleanliness, service... just perfect. They have the cleanest restroom among all Bangladeshi restaurants we went to in Canada and The USA.
It’s been 6 years since I came to US and looking for the best possible Borhani I could find that closest to Bangladesh. I’m not a a person who eats heavy food on regular basis but when I eat borhani is must needed with that for me. I’ve tried several borhani’s from many restaurants(as most of the bangali restaurants don’t make borhani’s) most of them are flat and not no spices at all but this is the so far best and closest to Bangladeshi one. 4.5 outta 5 for Borhanis. Roast is very good compared to the pricing. Just one request to the restaurant don’t raise your prices as you guys are new comer and getting famous. If I would spent my money to eat out here is the place.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at a hidden gem in New York that transported me straight to the heart of Puran Dhaka. The moment I tasted their **Kaachi Biriyani**, I was flooded with nostalgia—it was as if I was back in the bustling streets of Dhaka, savoring the authentic flavors that are hard to come by outside of Bangladesh. The perfectly cooked chicken, fragrant rice, and the subtle blend of spices were nothing short of perfection. The **Beef Tehari** was another standout dish, rich in flavor with tender pieces of beef that melted in your mouth. Paired with their **home-made paratha**, which was perfectly flaky and soft, it made for an unforgettable combination. To wash it all down, the **Burhani** was the perfect refreshing touch—its cool, tangy flavor beautifully complemented the richness of the meal. Not only was the food exceptional, but the service and cleanliness of the restaurant were also top-notch. The staff was attentive and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. This place has quickly become one of my favorites in New York, and I can confidently say it's one of the best spots in the city for an authentic Bangladeshi dining experience. If you're in the area, this is a must-visit!
I tried Shahi Kitchen in Hillside, Jamaica—absolutely worth it! Their Goat Biryani/Mutton Kacchi was rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked and most probably was the best Kacchi I ever tasted in New York . The khichuri with beef curry tasted also great. Great place for real Bengali comfort food in New York.
Authentic Dhakaya Taste – A True Slice of Dhaka in NYC Stepping into Authentic Dhakaya Taste feels like stepping into a warm, welcoming corner of Dhaka right in the heart of New York City. The passionate chef here truly pours love and heritage into every dish, ensuring each bite captures the bold, layered flavors of Bangladeshi street and homestyle cooking. Their menu offers a wide variety of hearty cultural dishes, from rich kacchi biryani and smoky beef kala bhuna to comforting khichuri on a rainy day, paired with freshly fried begun bhaji and chutneys that take you back home. Each dish is cooked with care, balancing spices and textures in a way that feels deeply authentic while still accessible for all diners. What makes this place even more special is the caring staff who treat you like family, checking in without hovering, and sharing stories about the origins of dishes if you’re curious. Whether you are from Dhaka or simply looking to explore true Bangladeshi flavors, Authentic Dhakaya Taste is a place you will keep returning to, reminding you that food can connect hearts across continents. Very bite was perfect.
Delicious food, highly recommend. Ordered a tray of chicken biryani and egg korma for a weekend trip with friends and not only was the food great but the portions were generous!
After 16 years later I had a very good quality kacchi . I must say it’s better than many Bangladeshi renowned restaurant. Everyone must try . Highly recommend. Perfect portion of meat and complimentary burhani was just awesome.
It was on the top of my list to visit this place and finally had a chance. I was truly blown away by the taste. We had a few different items everything was just exquisite. The Tehari had an amazing smell and flavor of fresh green chili. It just complements the flavor-packed tender beef and rice so well. The Chicken Jhalfry was rich and delicious. The garlic naan had a wonderful texture outside with a soft interior. The butter, garlic and cilantro brushed over gives a wonderful herbaceous flavor. The star of the show was the Goat Kachchhi Biriyani. In fact, let's not call it the star, let's call it the superstar. The meat was literally falling off the bone. It was well maintained, the flavor reached deep in. Spending a good portion of my life in old Dhaka, it had a very nostalgic experience. I am not going to waste my time describing it anymore. You have to try it to understand the flavor. Had the Borhani (forgot to take pictures). I'm a bit old school when it comes to Borhani. I like the old style without sugar. So, it wasn't for me, but my wife sure loved it. 11/10 would recommend.
Soo soo good . I can’t believe I ate exact same food i used to eat in Chittagong. I came from Georgia and I’m glad I went to Shahi kitchen. The Kacchi and the roast chicken both on point . The funny thing is my American who barely eats Indian food loved and approved our desi Food . He loved the roast chicken. I will go again before I leave for home .

I loved their Goat Kacchi Biryani . Tasted just like biye bari one. Comes with salad & borhani also. Must try. I order this atleast once a month. Way better than other bengali restaurants in Jamaica.
I found nearly authentic flavor of deshi kacchi. Roast polaw and appetizers were delicious. Overall, food quality was satisfying. It is a small restaurant for dine in with very few staffs. Expect to wait more than average delay.

I took a catering order for a wedding ceremony. Their food was very good, I appreciated it very much. Their service was very nice, Budget Friendly.
Typical deshi place. Kacchi was good but meat pieces were not good. Borhani was good. Other items were ok. Recommend.
We were a group of three people, ordered three different dishes to try. Kacchi biryani meat was nicely done- tender, juicy but the rice lacked flavor! Achari khichuri and beef Tehari was not bad. Their service was horrible and needs more attention from the management. When we went there, literally the restaurant had 5 customers and three people working at the front. We sat down and no one even bothered to say hello, after waiting for the server ti come and take the order- we decided to go to the register and ordered. I wish them all the best
Kachi birani with borhani. Around $16.00 . It’s tasty but less juicy . It seems dry. Seating chairs are really comfortable. Customer service excellent. Foods are fresh no doubt.
I had polao, chicken jhalfry and 2 naan. Chicken jhalfry tastes amazing and the polao has the “ Biye barir “ polao smell. It was tasty Naan was little bit thick, I prefer more thinner side. Overall good food. I spent $20.39

I bought butter chicken from Sahi Kitchen and was disappointed. The portion was very small with barely 5 tiny pieces of chicken. Taste was okay, but the quantity and size of the chicken pieces were not worth the price.
The kacchi is really good. But you will probably not get the real info as when kacchi will be ready. We started calling at 11:30. And every ti.e we called they said it'll be redy in 30 min. Called them every 30 min. Went there at 1:20pm and they are like it's not going to be ready till 2pm. So we had to leave and they had the kacchi ready after 3 pm.
Got the khacchi today had really high expectations but Taste was totally bland. Sorry This is not the dhakaiya khacchi I had in dhaka. jali kabab and shami kabab was good also their roast pulao was good. Anyways 3 star because rest of the items were good.
I recently visited Shahi Kitchen twice and tried a variety of items from their menu including kacchi biriyani, polao, chicken roast, borhani, and a vegetable singara. The kacchi biriyani came with two pieces of meat, a potato, and an egg, which is generous in portion. While it didn’t taste extraordinary, it was slightly better than other nearby options. The spices were balanced well, but the overall flavor didn’t stand out as memorable. The polao was a bit disappointing — the rice was undercooked, which took away from the enjoyment of the dish. The chicken roast was decent; nothing remarkable but cooked to a good standard. Unfortunately, the vegetable singara was a letdown — the filling was burnt and gave a bitter taste. This definitely needs improvement. The borhani had a nicely measured spice level, but the consistency was kinda watery. A slightly thicker texture would make it much more satisfying. Overall, Shahi Kitchen has potential, but some dishes need more attention in preparation and quality control. With a few improvements, especially in consistency and cooking, this place could become a solid go-to for desi cuisine in the area.

Their kacche biriany has no real taste at all. The rice should be authentic basmati kacche rice. Meat quality is not bad but sometimes got too dry. And their is no good combination with rice and meat. They serve salad 1 for 3 person. Asking for extra borhani they replied okay i will bring it after that 2 casier was busy to their gossiping and finally forgot to bring it. Seating area is nice only feel comfortable and the kacche price they increase 2 dollar up that not up to the mark about food quality. Please try to make qualityful kacche biriani. Its taste was like simple biriani and took $18.00 per order!!
I initially wanted to support this restaurant as part of our community and had a good experience during my first visit. However, my recent visits have been disappointing. The server seems to have an attitude, forgets orders, and provides poor service. Today was especially frustrating—one section of the restaurant was marked as 'reserved,' but it appeared no one had actually reserved it. As a result, I was forced to sit by the door, where I was constantly uncomfortable due to the cold weather and people opening the door. When I asked if we could move, the server flatly refused. I truly wanted to support this business, but after repeated poor experiences, I won’t be coming back!
Honest review as a customer: We try kacchi biriyani and tahiri after watched one paid food vlogger . Kacchi and Tehiri both test are disgusting. We can’t finish our food and left over food we bring our home. Their burhani just like water Kacchi overpriced. I will suggested don’t try their food otherwise you will waste your money.
Very very disappointed: Food wasn’t good at all. Very bad service. The main issue is management of staff. Lack of staff. Most of the items on the menu are not available. The ones are available take long time to serve.
i buy two kchibrine they add twomuch joyfol joyatri more solt mit size small ,. now prise up no good ,
4 Small Cubic pieces of beef in a whole full tehari lol. 😆 also finni wasn’t that much tasty.
After seeing the review of the other people we went to taste their “Kacchi Biryani”. All of us got absolutely disappointed. The Meat(খাসির মাংস) was not cooked properly (কাচা, রাবারের মত), spices were uncooked (কাচা মশলা), excessive amount of spice which made the smell/and taste of the Kacchi like Hydrabadi biriyani, ( but we went to eat Kachhi, not hydrabadi, come on !!)..when we complaint about the issue to the manager/salesperson, instead of being sorry , he was rather arguing saying that, may be only this Time it’s not taste okay, but they are the best. We are never going back there. Utterly disappointing experience!!!!
The young girl behind the counter has very bad attitude. She behaves as if she’s doing customers a favor by taking their orders. You ask one extra question and she will have the worst facial expression. She clearly hates her job. Food is good but makes you not wanna go to avoid dealing with her.
They charged an 11 dollar service fee but didn't provide any service, so what was the service charge for? The food service was provided late, and the garlic naan was given after 10 minutes. To much bad service
My wife and I visited this place for the first time to try their so-called kacchi. As someone who is very passionate about kacchi, I was extremely disappointed. After waiting for 20 minutes, what we received was heartbreaking. It was completely dry polao rice cooked separately, served with separately cooked mutton and a fried potato. When I asked the server about the condition of the kacchi, he replied rudely, “This is how we sell it everyday” and continued in the same manner. I requested at least put some gravy or curry. He and other people got angry on me and and shoed attitude by pushing me to order another extra curry dish. I was not agreed and they were stop responding on my call. Strongly recommend: Please DO NOT waste your money here.
One of the worst tehari i have ever had! And surprisingly the amount of beef in my beef tehari was not enough for a full plate tehari! Roast polaw wasnt available so i asked for acchari khichuri which was a waste too! No taste but excessive oil! And the borhani was awful !!never coming back
I always loved their food from the very first day of their journey. Last Tuesday i was sick so told my husband to bring one beef tehari from them. But see what i got from the packet. One pice of plastic bag. It was so gross. I immediately called them but they told me that maa’m pls tell us your name we will give you another one tomorrow. But its not that i cant buy another one. You should be careful while you cook food. Will you eat that food? Will you tolerate the scene? Very disappointing.
I had an extremely bad experience here with the frankly dishonest staff. To start with, I ordered an item (roast pulao) for take out without knowing it was dine in only. That is on me, however, instead of telling me that, after waiting for 15-20 minutes, they gave me separate roasts and pulao. This is not what I ordered, and it came with an upcharge. Not only that, they served my 4 roasts in 2 containers instead of 4. They did not give me the appropriate amount of gravy for 4 servings by doing this. Much of what little they gave me leaked through the bag because of the inadequate containers they used. They also seem to have extremely poor quality control, as the 2 roasts in one of the boxes we received were half the size of the 2 in the other box, and certainly not the "quarter-chicken" advertised in the menu.
I bought 3 items polau roast , goat kacchi, tehari. The goat kacchi is totally west of money for me . It’s test horrible . The polau they gave is almost half of the box,Which is very cheap way to make money. The rost was very hard and the test wasn’t good also. I saw some recommendation about this please so I went there , now I think they must be there won people.

Very disappointing experience. The kacchi biryani did not taste like kacchi at all—there was no proper flavor or aroma. It felt completely bland and not authentic. The portion size was fine, but that is the only positive. I informed the girl at the counter about the issue, and her response was simply, “Okay, I will talk to the kitchen.” That was it—no follow-up, no concern, no effort to resolve the problem. For the price they are charging, this level of taste and service is unacceptable. It was far too expensive for a tasteless kacchi biryani. I would not recommend this place based on my experience.
They should learn what a kacchi is before selling it. Absolutely dry , feels more like polao. For almost 20 bucks this is daylight robbery. We got firni and kacchi as takeout , there was no spoon .
