What a treat. Solid barbecue with amazing vinegar style sauce similar to that of North Carolina (if you are a fan). The wife and I had chopped brisket, potato salad, coleslaw, and beans. Everything was truly tasty, fresh, and the team working the pit outside and serving inside were friendly, eager to please, and work to keep the place looking tip-top. I would highly recommend.
It is a cafeteria style restaurant. Be ready to carry your tray to your table. The food is wonderful. Go! You will love their great BBQ!
We don’t eat out much but this place called our name when we were getting gas across the street! Great service! Amazing brisket! We parked in their lot that accommodated our 45’ Coach, called our order in, and within minutes, literally minutes, we were digging in! The side sandwich fixins topped it off (bread, pickles, onions, jalapeños, and red sauce - not sure what it was, but it was good dipping sauce!). The only “beef” I had with it (pun intended), was that the brisket was kinda salty. The flavor was amazing, just maybe hold back a pinch on the salt 🧂😉😊.
excellent quality and located right off of I-10 ; please do not miss this EPIC BBQ Experience. Great service during a time that people can’t seem keep their businesses staffed . loved the chopped sandwich within their special BBQ sauce . Sweet Tea was on point , and potato salad was very good. Huge outside picnic area “under the oak tree”🌳
Stopped in on our way home and was not disappointed. The brisket, ribs, and sausage were amazing. Add in the Sweet Tang sauce and each bite was delicious. The sides were okay but the meat made up for it. Would definitely recommend you stop in.
Amazing BBQ and worth the stop. The Briscuit or Turky or Ribs are my favorite 😍
My husband and I stopped in for a quick bite to eat. We shared the brisket plate. Brisket, green beans and coleslaw was all amazing. The brisket was juicy, the green beans had a good flavor and the coleslaw was very cold and refreshing!!! Would definitely recommend! We ate the food so quick so I couldn’t capture the food.
We make it a point to plan a quick pitstop at Cooper's every time we drive through Junction. Their bbq is delicious! Lately, we've been enjoying their brisket sandwiches, both sliced and chopped...but, their bbq plates are yummy too. It's also a great spot to stretch the legs, even if you prefer the drive-through vs indoor eating. They have several picnic tables shaded under a huge oak tree; a couple of green patches around to let the furbabies sniff about; and a small playground upfront for the kiddos. Clean restrooms are inside and the staff here is so friendly.
****UPDATE*** Stopped by again today, food was still phenomenal and so was the service! P.s. You gotta try the Blackberry Cobbler!!!! 😋 MmmMmmm! Good stuff! I can't say enough great things about this place! The food was absolutely phenomenal! Best. Ribbs. EVER! You get huge portions at a great price. I was able to make two meals out of my one plate. The service is quick, friendly and efficient. I LOVE the outdoor seating area. Plus, I had a couple of visitors who stopped by for quick hello!
Oh I've tried Texas BBQ. I've stopped at joints all over the state. But I never stopped at this one till now. I've wanted to for years. But every time Ive driven past, it's either been too early or too late. Finally it was time. I think it was exactly what I want from a BBQ joint that's not a roadside shack. I could smell the woodsmoke. The lunch line was just arriving. When you walk inside, dead critters everywhere. I didnt know what to be try first. I've had problems in the past in some BBQ places, the menu can be confusing and hard to figure out how you're meant to order. AT Coopers, easy peasy. I Just went for the combo. Brisket/Pork ribs/quarter chicken. All you need to know is, this gonna be my TX BBQ spot from now on. Every time I'm near Junction TX, I'm gonna give these fellas my money.
Best BBQ in Texas I always get 3 meat plate. I've been stopping here for 25 years food was good back then and still is. One complaint it's pricey, but compared to burger places. It's 1000 percent better.
Great food, good service and nice dining area. Brisket was pit smoked perfectly. You have to sauce it to taste if you're not familiar with dry smoked bar b que. Sausage was delicious with the sauce or ketchup. Cobbler was very good got blackberry to go. Oh and for anyone complaining about the price there is a McDonald's across the street.
Stop playing the Coopers BBQ on Saturday September 12th 2020 and I must admit it was one of the best barbecue is I've had in a long long time I appreciate the cook command the servers command the whole Coopers BBQ staff for a very very job well done I'm a very satisfied customer for my $25!. And if I lived in Junction Texas I promise you I'll be eating there three to four times a week guaranteed Straight Fire🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💥
I came here as a long haul truck driver. I think around 2013 or so the pit master greeted me with a smile and there was a nice man Mark Cooper. I believe who took a picture with now that I've moved to Texas. I think I will take a road trip!
You won’t be disappointed!! We went to the Mason location a year ago and knew we wanted to stop at this location too. Soooo yummy!! Sorry to say I didn’t take any pics because I was too busy eating the delicious BBQ!!
Been a bucket list item of mine since Josh Abbott and Pat Green reference Cooper's in the song My Texas. Unfortunately the staff had no idea what I was talking about until I played it for them LOL as far as the brisket plate I ordered goes, I had trouble finishing it along with the mac and cheese and baked beans I ordered as sides.. everything was great all the way down to the sweet tea. They also have an outside area for you to eat if you so choose.. all in all, it met my expectations and then some.. if you are in the area of exit 456 on interstate 10... You should stop and get you some.
I was traveling through Junction and stopped for the night at a hotel nearby. I saw the sign and Googled this place to see the reviews. I decided to give Cooper's a try and I'm glad that I did! The brisket was amazing and the coleslaw and potato salad were excellent as well. I also tried the tangy sweet sauce and it was a great compliment to the awesome brisket plate. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal, and I'll be sure to come again on my next trip through the area! Excellent job guys! Thanks for serving up real Texas BBQ!
The BBQ is always spot on. We stop here everytime we come through to eat and they never miss. As a plus there is a super guy there that cuts the meat (Manny), he seems to always be there when we go. He cuts our choices just how we like them cut. We had a little bonus this time, we ordered the pork chop, the thing was huge and delicious. Lafayette, La.
What a great spot just off the 10, some off the best baby back ribs I’ve ever had! They have a drive up window and some delicious house bbq sauces, I tried all three and they were delicious! The sides were very good as well not just filler, the atmosphere and friendly staff made me feel welcome! Thankyou for a taste of excellent Texas BBQ
The brisket is amazing!! I love good Q and this was perfection. It is not over seasoned or over peppered like other places. It was tender, delicious and the place was filled with many excellent specimens of taxidermy. The barb wore was really interesting and a great collection. I am going to have many great hours researching tue different names and styles of barbed wire in this collection.
Food was very delicious: Ribs, sausage, pinto beans and coalslow was my order. The only complaint it's about the salsa. No flavor, three of them very liquid, thin. I ate on diferent Restaurant across the US and this is the first time with this sauce. I ate on OK, MT, WY, WV, NC AND SC, GA. Best BBQ at NC.
Lordy! Texas Pit BBQ! We were welcomed by friendly and “Texan polite” young men along with the proud Pitmaster. Brisket choices are moist/ melt in your mouth meat with buttery fat or lean/ on the drier side. The ribs? slip off the bone delicious. Meats have a natural wood-smoked infusion. Loved the slow cooked, flavorful pinto beans- add a jalapeño for tang & heat. The coleslaw is creamy without being sweet or sour, a beautiful pairing. Don’t forget the perfectly prepared blackberry cobbler that is berry-packed along with a proper crisp crust. Enjoy seating with AC inside or out back on picnic tables under the shady trees with a view of the BBQ pits. Drive through as well. Doesn’t get any better than this!
On my drives to CO, I usually take off early to get to AM Donuts in Sweetwater, but got a late start on a Sunday morning and decided to finally stop at this place. Got the brisket sandwich and it was delicious. Got the backstory of this place thinking it was the same Cooper's near Austin, but it wasn't. The meat was good, but bun was a little dry.
If you happen to be lucky enough to be driving on I-10 at Junction, TX, you must stop for some bbq at Cooper's. The brisket and jalapeño sausage was awesome!
Cooper's BBQ is amazing! The brisket is tender with just the right amount of char, the pork chops are huge ribs are huge, and the atmosphere is perfect. A must-stop-by for travellers along IH-10. I…
Brisket was delectable and sides were delicious! We had a long day on the road and this spot was the perfect find. Such nice folks working there and fun atmosphere.
Great BBQ, and ... wait for it ...\n\nPeach (and Pecan) Cobbler ...\nA la Mode\nEZ on/off I-10

Some of the best ribs in TX I stop here every time I am passing through Junction always lots of people here great news to here there are other locations of Coopers bbq in Texas
The BBQ was amazing!!! You can’t beat their Ribs and brisket. The service was excellent. I will definitely stop when I am passing through again.
Good BBQ, in fact best chopped brisket sandwich I've had in quite awhile. Quality meat topped with their own rojo BBQ sauce. Truly delicious. If you prefer a more vinegary sauce, they have that too! Just wish they had more side selections. They have the usual staples potato salad, cole slaw, pinto beans, as well as Lays regular potato chips. My mom was hoping for a baked potato topped with their yummy BBQ brisket. That would have made the experience perfect!
We had the 2 Meat plates one with Pork Ribs and Sausage and my husband had the Brisket and Ribs. 👍👍 Everything was good bit I'm not crazy about there Viniger sauce on my Ribs. 🤔🤔👎👎 The plates are $18 each and that's pricey to us. The potato salad was good creamy but good as well as the beans.
Stopped at the truck stop across the street for the night and ran across the street dodging traffic to get a taste of Texas BBQ. I had the chopped brisket sandwich which was really tasty. The brisket plate was kind of dry. The atmosphere was definitely warm and cozy with animal trophies on the wall. The customer service was great!!! Almost forgot mention the blackberry cobbler we had was a delicious end to the meal.
One of my first bbq places I've tried since I started traveling outside of my city and Still delicious. Today I got the rib plate with mac and cheese and potatoe salad, onions pickles, two slices of bread and peach cobbler and ice cream. Delicious and yummy. I know people say the prices are inflated but really think how far do the have to travel to purchase the food, plus junction tx is a small town. So support your local traveling businesses in the area and be happy something this delicious is even around to taste. Cause if not you'll be stuck with nothing but greasy food like Mc D, Dairy queen or subways at the pilot store. I've eaten here several times thru my passing and I always expected the price to rise. But don't let that scare you cause the food is definitely satisfying. I took my food to go cause this dinner here is gonna be a nite 😴 🥱 💤 nite experience 😋. Stop by and Check them out ! My four stars was for the limit choices but is working for them cause 15 years later I'm still eating there. But country bbq at its finest. Truck parking in the back of the place as c well makes this restaurant more convenient to eat and sleep. So truckers stop on by say hi 👋 🙃
A very good BBQ restaurant. The brisket and beans were tasty. I'd stop in again.
Easy place to stop at while on the road, regardless of the size of rig you are driving. The BBQ food tastes great. The staff are very nice and the eating areas are kept very clean. If you need some food for the road they will happily get you what you need quickly. They also have nice clean restrooms.
We visited this Cooper's for the first time. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere exactly what you would expect in a BBQ joint. The brisket was a little dry, but to be fair, we did come at the very end of the day, right before they closed. Tried the potato salad and cole slaw, and it was really yummy.
Much like the other reviews, they are either great, or it is an off day. We visited sadly on an off day. The ribs were good but the brisket was chewy. The chopped brisket sandwich we much better than the plate. Saw and beans were both good. Cool little place out back to sit outside and enjoy the BBQ smoke!
Passing through town via IH-10, we decided to stop at Cooper's, recommended by a family member. The restaurant operates on a cafeteria-style serving line, so you get your food faster than a cheetah on an espresso. Drinks are self-service, so you're in charge of keeping yourself hydrated. I had the turkey plate, which was excellent, though my wallet felt it was about $5 too enthusiastic. However, the portion of turkey was so generous it could've doubled as a Thanksgiving centerpiece. The sides were solid too; the coleslaw was particularly good and came in generous portions. My spouse had the chopped burger, which we thought was good, though not a culinary love story. Now, the restroom situation was a different story. It was small and had an aroma that could best be described as "rustic." Being so close to the highway, it seems like everyone passing through stops at Cooper's to use the facilities. Honestly, the restrooms at the IH-10 rest area were cleaner. Maybe next time, we'll just swing by for the turkey and stick to the rest area's restrooms for a pit stop!
Howdy, BBQ Woody here. I told u all i was a bbq reviewer for Amrrica..so: 2 meat plate was the most expensive i hv paid for except in NY. The sausage was dry but good, the ribs were excellent. For most bbq joints u wld get 3 ribs. I was not asked if i wanted bread/toast..BUT i wld hv declined cause type 2 diavetes. Nice place.
I'm not going to lie; it was decent. I expected more but it was decent. Probably because I was comparing it to my favorite place so far in Texas.... Dicky's BBQ! Same vibe but honestly the brisket was pretty damn good. Everything else besides the blackberry cobbler, was a little bland.
Brisket is a little dry for the surprisingly high prices. Over thirty dollars for lunch, so I expected better. Everything else was fine.
Few positive right out of the gate: right off of i10, truck parking, and nice looking restaurant. Sure to be better than McDonalds across the street or the slop at Pilot down the road. Service was very quick which made it nice to eat on my half hour break. I went for a combo platter with brisket and jalapeño sausage. The brisket was pretty good but I would go all the way with sausage next time. With a drink it was $25.00. I felt that this was a bit pricey for the amount of food to be honest. Both the beans and potato salad were nothing special but not bad either. Would go back if I ended up stopped in this area again but don't think I would go out of my way to make sure I scheduled myself to stop here. I was not a fan of either of the BBQ sauces, but that could be personal preference.
The people that work here have always been great. I removed my previous review content because their new system has produced a great barbecue that really sings with Texas tradition. I mean this as a compliment, if you have had them before you must try them again. They really improved their smoke.
Really enjoyed the BBQ. Only tried the brisket and sausage, but both were good. I didn't care for the sauce; it was watery and bitter. Sauce doesn't necessarily need to be sweet, but it should enhance the flavor of the meat. The coleslaw and potato salad were nice additions to the meal. Neither were over the top or strange in flavor or consistency. The fountain drinks tasted off; buy a bottled drink maybe? The atmosphere was okay, but smoke was a bit too thick. The restroom was not good. The stall was cramped, and the overall cleanliness was poor. Grab some BBQ to go!
We stopped by a place my Dad liked to visit when he was younger. Cooper's BBQ in Junction TX. If there was a contest for best interior of an "Ole Texas BBQ, this place could sure enter the contest. The menu is on the wall, and you order at the counter. There is a display case on the left full of Texas Treats called Smoked Meats. As you slide your tray down the line you pick up your wares, and the pickles and onions. BBQ sauces are offered on a separate counter there are three to choose from, sweet tang, rojo, and Cooper's Original. I tried all three, the sweet tang was my favorite. This was probably because I like the pronounced vinegar flavor and off-set of the sweet on the brisket. We both ordered the two meat and two sides plate, and a drink. Tea of course, I'm in the heart of Texas !! Dad ordered his usual Brisket and Sausage and I did the same. Brisket was tender, moist, and most important smokey. The. Sausage was juicy, flavorful and had a nice smoke flavor as well. The potato salad was on point with the mustard. The Cole slaw I could not eat, it was not fresh, and had a soggy feel. Plus, it was more watery than creamy. I ordered the Berry cobbler and Dad ordered the peach. Both were very good!! It was a great experience and we really liked sitting in a True Texas BBQ Joint.
We came pretty close to closing (about 8:30pm) and they were super accommodating and had lots of brisket left. The food was great and coleslaw was fresh - prices seemed pretty normal and affordable as well! Everyone was friendly and nice, but I know they were pretty tired since it was the ending of the day! The vibes were really nice and gave off a western/country/rustic feel!
Pretty good BBQ. The sides were tasty but portioned like war rations. The Coleslaw and Green Beans were absolute WINNERS!!! We took our food TO GO, but they have a nice dinning room as well as outback seating, picnic table style. Overall, We enjoyed the meals. Im sure we'll stop in again. TRUCKERS: They do have a few spaces available....DONT SHUTDOWN THERE!! Limit ur time so other drivers can use them as well. Theres truck parking across the road to shutdown.

Sliced BRISKET SANDWICH meat was 75% inedible -- VERY FATTY, bun stale, old tired slaw. Husbands CHOPPED BRISKET SANDWICH was fine...kinda dry but oddly his bun was ok. I've been to other COOPERS and numerous other bbq joints in my 15 yrs living in Texas. $38 for two sandwiches, 1 drink, 1 bag chips, slaw is beyond outrageous.
We made a pit stop here for lunch since we didn’t want fast food. They have a pretty good selection of bbq meats. I got the combo platter with fatty brisket, ribs and regular sausage. My husband got the pulled/shredded brisket. He wasn’t crazy about the vinegary flavor from the sauce. The ribs were very delicious just didn’t have as much meat as I had hoped. The brisket was a little dry sadly, but I drenched it in their red bbq sauce and it was pretty good after that. Another person in our party got their chicken, but she said it was also dry. Overall, it was a pretty good deal for the amount of food you get. Not sure if it’s a must have for us.
With all the history, and stories I've heard about this place, I guess I was expecting too much. It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't anything different. My brisket was a little dry, and ends were pretty salty. Ribs were pretty good, and sausage wasn't bad. The peach cobbler was nice, to bad the ice cream machine was down.
Off the interstate, closed on Tuesdays. Walked right in & menu was displayed above head. Average prices for single & combo plates. We ordered the combo with 2 meats- sausage, mine was jalapeno flavored and brisket for 2nd meat. The sausage was okay, dipped it in their Rojos BBQ sauce which was pretty good. The brisket I am highly disappointed at the amount of fat we'd gotten & it could've been smoked a little longer, my partner mentions. Potato salad was tasty and beans was average and hot. Fountain drinks available and the sweet tea, it's Texas honey put about another half bag of sugar in the sweet tea baby. Overall, friendly and helpful staff, clean establishment & has a playground outback. No pets allowed. I wouldn't come back here.
$14+ sandwich ouch!! 🤕 Had one earlier today $8.95 out the door and it was a LG Texas size version out before Houston. Anyways it was pretty good they must have a new cook out there cuz the texture was different than it used to be.. seemed cooked longer
I have been to Coopers in Llano many times. When I drive to my deer lease I drive right by this new Cooper's in Junction TX. I do not recommend this place at all. Ordered a brisket and sausage plate. I recommend the cook from Llano go show this new place how to make some great BBQ.
If you are looking for great, close to award winning BBQ, this is not the place. If you havent had good BBQ in a while, then this place will kind of satisfy that craving. Pulled pork was "ok" at least it wasnt drowning in sauce or water like a lot of places do. The brisket wasnt anything to write home about. The bark wasnt that great, but it was tender and tasted "ok". The smoked sausage was, well, smoked sausage. Pinto beans were pretty good. Seasoned well. The 2 young kids working the counter were not very enthusiastic. Didnt Crack a smile, looked like they didnt want to be there. Cut the end piece of sausage that was mostly hard end and casing, and threw it on my plate. Thought that was weird. The inside is clean, lots of beautiful deer heads and a moose head on the wall. I like stuff like that though. There was a wooden board hanging on the wall that had Barb wire and the person's ranch I tr came from dating back to the early 1800's.
Here for late lunch on Monday. Ordered a 2 meat plate from the server who didn’t seem too pleased to be working. Had brisket and 1/4 chicken. Both were very dry and not very flavorful. Seemed maybe not cooked recently. Husband had sausage which he said was good. Sides were good. None of the employees were friendly.
Great atmosphere, we enjoyed a sliced bbq and a chopped bbq sandwich. They were good with ample serving size. Ut the taste was just average, what you can get anywhere but this was expensive and should have been better for sure.
Sat. 2-21-26. 7:30 pm . Ordered 1/2 chicken to go . The chicken was very tasty. But I have to comment , and add upon the comment of another review. That person criticized the cooper sauce. Said it was like water. I have to agree , I have never been here before and the first thing I thought when I saw that sauce container was they must be cleaning it. It is late in the evening and I thought they were cleaning it out with water and somebody forgot to empty it. I never saw sauce like this in a barbecue place in my life. I tasted it , it tasted like vinegar and water with maybe a drop or two of ketchup in it. I think you ppl can do better than this. If my name was Cooper , I would not put my name on this so called sauce.
I just had the sliced brisket sandwich. Was traveling so I didn't have a lot of time and the service was fairly quick. The brisket was pretty dry... the sauce came in handy, the flavor was kind of off though. In all fairness, that's the only item on the menu I ordered, so it could have been a one-off...
Sorry, I have eaten in three (3) of the Coopers stores and this one was the least impressive of the three. Service was "ok" once I got their attention. The sliced brisket seemed have been sitting for a while in the meat case. I found it to be dry. Seasoning was fine, but most of the moisture of the meat was gone. I prefer the Llano store; more of an eating experice.
The food here is good, I’ve visited this place about five times over the years. My only concern is the extra charge of $0.59 for each jalapeño and also for the bread. It genuinely surprised me because I’ve never been charged for these items in the past. We spent over $72 for two plates (the 3-meat mix with brisket, sausage, and ribs) so it feels unreasonable to add small extra charges on top of an already substantial order. I understand that prices have gone up everywhere but charging extra for something as simple as a jalapeño comes across as trying to squeeze every last dollar from the customer. Also the guy I feel like could have done it better at saying things I grabbed my jalapeños and the guy simply said. “You have to pay for that” That’s my honest review.
Food is good if you are looking for some BBQ. Not any type of OMG BBQ however. The service isn't that friendly and the prices are SUPER inflated. $13 fir a basic brisket sandwich is alittle much. They do. Nickle and dime you a little as well. Food is good and I recommend trying just keep in mind what was mentioned above.
Their prices have gone up considerably. It's as if they know they have a captive market. Although the food quality is still pretty good.

It's a nice place, and the staff are friendly and helpful. I got a 2 meat plate with brisket, turkey, potato salad and pinto beans. The meat looked dry, I found the brisket to be overly dry and salty. I didn't care for it at all. The turkey was also very dry. I generally don't eat sauce with my bbq, but I wish I had gotten some. The beans were okay and the potato salad was good. The sweet tea was good. I couldn't finish the meat though, I drank all my tea before I was half way through it was so dry. I went to eat the bread figuring they can't screw that up, and of course I have an end piece. Just wait and get bbq in Boerne or San Antonio, even the chains are way better.
I've always heard Cooper's, you gotta try Cooper's. My husband & I weren't that impressed. We got 2 turkey sandwiches, a single serving of black cobbler and a 1/4lb of sausage. I was shocked to have paid $32. The sandwich was all bun hardly any turkey, the turkey had a nice flavor, but really could use more turkey. The sausage was ok. The cobbler wasn't good at all, not sure what happened there.
Craziest prices I’ve ever seen for food. $50 for two people to each have a chopped beef sandwich, 6oz sides, and a drinks is wild. I’ve been to gourmet BBQ restaurants that serve sandwiches with multiple meats, cole slaw, and homemade sauces for only two bucks more. When I gasped at the prices, the staff told me that’s an extremely common reaction, especially from local patrons, however few remain. No wonder I didn’t see any inside. Other than the $13 sandwich on a dried out bun, the food isn’t THAT bad, but for that much money I’d expect a little more love put in it. I won’t be back any time soon, but I can see why a traveling Californian wouldn’t mind shelling out $50+ for what costs 2/3rd’s at other places.
The restaurant was nice and tidy. The employees were very nice and overall it was very fast service and clean seating areas. The pricing was average overall I would not recommend because their sauces weren’t amazing and the brisket was subpar in taste (salty) the turkey was good. The beans were very bad lacking in flavor overall and the coleslaw was good so overall out of the four items that we got two of them were very bad and two of them were good that’s 50% equaling an F in grade school, try at your own risk.
The only reason I’m giving 3 stars is because the Owner or maybe the manger was very nice. But man, the other employees are just so rude! To the gentleman cutting meat: Not everyone lives in your town and knows your procedures. When your menu doesn’t specify, you can answer the question without the irritation and condescension. Even the lady checking us out was rude. When I simply asked for an itemized receipt she says “I know” Ok I am just asking. I could literally feel everyone’s irritation the minute I walked in. And they spoke to every customer that way. No “hi, how are you“ no “have a nice day” just not nice at all. As for the food, the watery beans are a hard pass for me as is the overcooked macaroni. Now the brisket and ribs were pretty good. They did have a good flavor. And like I said, the man who I think is the owner was very nice. Sir, can you please pass some of that kindness to your employees? Thank you very much!
*Note: this review was originally posted a couple of years ago but has mysteriously been removed. This restaurant is not like the Cooper’s we know and love in Llano (the OG!). The food is not the same. The quality is nothing short of disappointing. The original is pricey, but worth it, and this is MORE expensive and not! The brisket was chewy, the portions smaller, the sauce is different, and the staff was flat out rude. They were making fun of customers right in front of us and then overly accommodating to a young lady in revealing attire. It was weird to everyone in the room. We will not go back - ever. If you’re looking for great Texas barbecue- drive a little farther down the road into Junction and a great place is on the right a couple of miles in. This place cannot be even related to the original.
Ugh. It hurts to write this about my favorite bbq place in the country, but I feel like I’m watching a family member self destruct. As a trucker I’ve been coming here once or twice a month for 15+ years so I know this place. The last 3 or 4 visits have been going downhill with today being the worst. I ordered a pound of brisket and probably got 1/4 pound of fat and inedible dried jerky. (See pic) It wasn’t even sliced it was so mushy, it resembled chunks of pot roast. Also got a pound of sausage and he couldn’t even be bothered with slicing it all the way through on every piece. Now I have to play sous chef with a plastic knife later for snacks. Each visit lately is getting ruined by the constant churn of new meat cutters up front that are not being trained properly to maintain a high standard of quality for the brand name. Please try to do better.

SKIP! There is no reason a spot in Junction should be charging $30 per plate for sub par bbq. It was some of the worst we've tasted. And the staff was awful. They rolled their eyes at our requests …

The people behind the counter could barely be bothered to wait on us. I kept waiting for them to bring out the bouncy house, so they would have something to do besides grab ass with each other. T…
Barbecue not good. The meat is dry and overcooked. The location in Llano is much better. I would not recommend it.

Got the pork rib plate. meat was dry, harder than a pork rind. meat looked like it was microwaved. $19.99 was not worth it. Best part of my meal was the Lays chips.
Worst bbq I've had my entire life. Do yourself a favor and wait in line at Lum's BBQ.
We walked in and they were upset that we came. They couldn't wait for us to leave. $320 dollars later. It was the worst BBQ I've ever tried. Don't waste your money. I wouldn't feed this to my dog.

Totally disappointing overpriced food. I wouldn’t call this bbq!! Tasted liked it was cooked in the oven. No flavor tasteless food and the bbq sauce was not good either. I think this was left over…
The sausage was edible. The brisket was super dry and poorly cut. It looked like it been out all day. The sides were nothing special. Not worth the money we paid.
So let me start off by saying that I enjoy tasting different barbeque but this was super dry. The guy cutting the brisket was struggling to cut as the meat was dry. You would think he would have gotten a different piece. The positive thing is that the guys were super polite and friendly.
On my way to San Angelo, I stop by to this barbeque place ( COOPER'S BAR B Q ) I bought a pound of brisket is the worse barbeque I ever tasted , it cost me $26 dollar is horrible, awful, is hard, dry and no taste at all, I waste $26 dollars, just went to the trash ..do not stop by to this place is a waste of money and is horrible..for sure I will not stop by there EVER.. AGAIN..
Spent $64 on (2) 2 meat combos both with brisket and jalapeno sausage, pinto beans coleslaw and potato salad with 2 peach cobblers and 2 teas. This is by far the worst brisket and sausage I have ever had in my life. I'm a native Texan and hunt in an area around Junction. Never tried coopers before, usually go to Lums...I made a costly mistake coming here. Brisket was cut at almost half inch thickness and was extremely tough. Sausage has an almost chemical after taste to it. Sides and tea were acceptable. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere.
On 12 9 25 I walk into coopers bbq in junction tx. The place was full of smoke and the guy who was cutting the meats gave me the strangest stare 😳 like yeah he's getting scraps portions I've never had Brisket that had Gell around it it looked like it has been around for days and I was the lucky customer to get the crap 💩 Brisket the sausage was hard I spent $40.40 that evening they absolute worst ill never be back ill do Mc Donald's before i return there again very unhappy customer
Unbelievably overpriced for really bad food. Paid $50 for 2 chopped brisket sandwiches (worst flavor ever!) I didn’t know you could mess up chopped brisket 🤦🏻♀️ (SO salty & just awful flavor in general, we had to feed them to the dogs.) 2 sides, & 1/4 lb of turkey! $50 seriously?? Extremely shiesty on the bbq sauce which literally tastes like watery ketchup. Buns were dry. We bought Mac & cheese for our son & he couldn’t even eat it because it was full of tons of pepper which they didn’t bother to mention. Potato salad was literally just potatoes & watery mayonnaise. Save yourself & do not go here! I see the replies from the owner on these reviews & he is very defensive instead of apologetic & literally told a customer to go to McDonald’s instead which is obviously extremely rude & unprofessional, big red flag. We’re from San Antonio & were starving after the 3.5 hour drive & still couldn’t force ourselves to get the food down our gullets, that says a lot. I wish I read the reviews first like I usually do but like I said we were on the road awhile & this was the first restaurant after a long stretch of nothing. 😭😭😭
Brisket was dry and old. Ribs over cooked. Mac and cheese was bland. Potato salad was good. Won't be going back for dry over priced food.
Don't waste you money! When I say money I also mean over priced, for horrible barbecue. I honestly can't believe a place this BAD in TX is still open. Sausage so hard I could not chew it. Overcooked! How do you overcook sausage?? Brisket mediocre at best. Dry and flavorless. The green beans, macaroni and cobbler good. However I didn't come here for sides. We won't eat here again. Btw .....they charge a credit card fee....they don't have it posted at front, where it needs to be. They just add it at the end of the line when you pay. $64 for 2 meals is horrendous.
Stopped by on our way back home,I had never been there my husband had been there several times we order a 2 meat plate to go,Brisket and sausage it tasted good ,but we felt Robbed!! Half the brisket was nothing but fat !! Never again will we stop by,my husband passes through there every 2 weeks! So disappointing and for almost $20.00😡
This is probably the worst bbq I’ve ever had. The brisket tasted old and dry even after ordering it moist. It’s also expensive and feels dirty. Avoid.
This was by far, the worst BBQ I’ve ever eaten. I had the potato salad and pinto beans, with an order of peach cobbler. The whole meal was below average and partially unbearable. Besides the size of the portions, NOTHING about the meal was satisfactory. Worst case scenario, you’re gonna have the option of a tasty sauce to mask the poor quality or dryness of the meat. Even that aspect of the meal was terrible. Even the workers were eating BBQ from another restaurant. I should have taken that as a sign to pass on the meal. This location needs help!
Skip this one and head to Luns BBQ close by. Coopers in Junction was among the worst bbq I’ve ever had. The brisket was uninspired, green beans canned and 400 degrees, and potato salad bland. On top of everything poor with the food, the value was also negative with the plate coming in at just over $24. Bbq shouldn’t be cheap, but at $24, you’d expect better than average at a minimum.
Let me tell you this, the food here is really good, but be warned, they'll overcharge you if you want something that they don't do. I ordered the combo plate, thinking I could get any 3 meats I wanted. That was a big mistake. I didn't know they'd charge me double for two brisket since they only do one brisket per combo, but I didn't understand this until I got to the register to pay. They don't have this clearly listed on the menu, so my bill was nearly $40, and then they suggested after the fact when I protested at the price. That's when they wanted to take my plate back and weigh my food out. I'm not trying to get a free lunch, but that just seemed excessive, in my opinion. At that point, I told them I'd pay, but I'm not coming back. It's really a shame since I came here last week and really enjoyed myself. I tried ordering something different this time, and this is what happened. That there is what $40 looks like.
I have been wanting to try this place every time we go to Junction , we'll finally we went yesterday and I was so disappointed, I love brisket 💜 In the parking lot a couple were leaving and I asked how was it since it was my first time here . The husband said it was okay but the brisket was way to salty. So we go in and I order the brisket plate, chopped brisket, potatoe salad, Mac and cheese. My son got the brisket sandwich, boyfriend got the brisket sandwich and a side of potato salad. And we each got a regular drink. Price over 60.00 - okay thats fine right .. we'll as well were paying a older man came up to the line and had complaining that the brisket was to salty and the staff were like we told your wife she could have something different. Not sure what happened as I paid and went to sit down . The potato salad was great . Mac and cheese no flavor at all . And the brisket very salty and I like salt on my food . With the BBQ sauce to cover the salty taste I was able to eat it . My boyfriend could not eat his though and after a few bites he said he was done . For 12.99 I was like ugh no - I go to the register and tell the gym that my BF doesn't like the brisket it's just to salty . He tells me .. oh your just saying that because you heard that other customer say that . I was shocked that he said that . I told him that a man in the parking lot had told me that also . He then said we'll what do you want then extremely rude. My boyfriend wanted the sausage instead. I asked the guy if he wanted me to throw away the brisket in front of him so he could see that we were not trying to get free food and he just ignored me . So that was my first and last time to eat there 😒
I hate to leave a negative review but I was very disappointed with the quality of the bbq. I grew up going to the location in Mason and on my recent road trip was happy to see this location and decided to stop in. I tried the brisket, but it was so tough and flavorless. I am not sure what is happening behind the scenes but an improvement is needed.
Been stopping here for almost 15 years and sad to say the last year or so each visit everything gets worse. All the older workers are gone and it's obvious these kids are just not into upholding the quality of the food or the cleanliness of the restaurant. Nobody cares how to slice the brisket properly or trim the excess fat anymore. This visit resembled pot roast that just fell apart into strands and chunks with 20% fat attached. Sausage might have been from yesterday. The sides are now flavorless like they came right from the food distributor. 70% of the tables were dirty at 3:30, and the sauce area was a mess. It's such a shame to see this decline. And it's never packed with people lined up at the door to get in like it used to be. The lower revenue should be a giant flag to management that something is wrong. They can't blame the economy because I-10 is still packed with hungry travelers. What a shame.
WOW....... I'm sure surprised that this coopers in junction has some positive reviews. Me and my uncle made a two hours drive just to go eat there and boy it was absolutely a bad experience from not being greeted to the crap they serve and the ridiculous price. The brisket was dry very little flavor the sausage was undercook and the beans were undercooked as well. A can of bush's pinto beans taste ten times better than theirs the only one thing that was great was the potato salad and we had some blackberry cobbler it was ok but it sure had a big scoop of seeds or hard pits or whatever they were and for the meals and two drinks including the dessert it was $70.65 I guess that you could call this coopers bbq highway robbery. I'm sure staying away from all the coopers bbq
9/4/2025 12:15pm this was my experience and my experience only. Entering I was not greeted at all even being the only person in line. I had to get their attention. Ordered a Pulled Pork sandwich and medium drink. I was immediately disappointed in the size of my sandwich and even more so when I saw how much brisket each sandwich in front of me had. The cashier was very nice but I was shocked at my total of $16! I assumed since the price wasn’t posted it was a few dollars cheaper than the brisket sandwich. The sandwich itself was very tough to eat. Large long strands of pork. The Coopers sauce was the consistency of water. Overall very disappointed in what I got at a well known place. But when I told ppl about it not one person had a nice thing to say about coopers. Sad. Below are pictures from my visit. Judge for yourself if this is what one would expect for $16 and mediocre service. For the remainder of my time in the area working 14 hours a day cleaning the river from the floods. I’ll spend my money elsewhere in town
It had been years since I had been to eat at this establishment, and upon stopping by to eat today, I was reminded why I had quit coming. We showed up around an hour before closing time, and the choices of meat available were few. I had the super combo 3 meat, brisket, ribs, and sausage. The brisket and the ribs had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. And, when I say "no flavor," I mean not even the slightest hint of smoke flavor. The sides were decent. I had potato salad and beans. The staff were as friendly a they could be, and the business was clean. The amount that I paid was ridiculous for the less than mediocre barbecue I purchased. It wasn't this bad the last time that I dined here. It has gone way downhill from what "Cooper's Old Fashion Pit Barbecue" is supposed to taste like. Save your time and money from this joint. As for me, I'll stick to the Cooper's in Llano.
