My wife and I love coming here on cool evenings. We enjoy decaff coffee and dessert by the fire.they have the best lemon cake, and peacan pie. They also have homemade ice cream for the warmer nights.
Amazingly great bakery products and an intelligent staff.
Very clean and pleasant cafe. I ordered the almond cake with a drip coffee. A staff member will bring your order to your table. All members were very nice and professional. Coffee and pastry was fresh and tasted great. There is a large parking lot behind the cafe so do not stress about parking. The menu does change seasonally.
Delicious, albeit pricey, desserts in a charming setting and location. I love their salted shortbread cookies (best shortbread I've ever ate), because they're buttery and the salt enhances the shortbread's sweetness ($8.15 for 10 cookies)! This bakery also sells food to-go, and Italian dry goods.
Not sure if I can ever go anywhere else for Steak Tarare. Upon suggestion from a regular, I ordered the steak tartare as a meal with an order of fries. I was blown away but the detail and effort put into the Tarare. It was as elegant on the tongue as it was the eyes. The capers do an excellent job of completing the complex flavors. The fries were of Belgian/Dutch upscale style and go excellent with mayonnaise. I will try to test their legendary brisket Burger next time if I can keep my hands off the tartare.
Fabulous and quaint. Great place for an amazing dinner with a group filled with laughs and lots of delicious flavors.
I purchased two baked items and they were wonderful. The gluten free butter cake was the best gluten free baked good I’ve ever had. Wish we lived nearby!
Really cool space. The salad was great, I appreciate when they include anchovies on the Caesar. Owner was also there and made sure everything came out good.
Here is a business that has taken the Covid social life that we are all experiencing and turned their business into a different and I think successful operation. Being a small dinning room that wouldn't work for 6 ft. Separation of tables. They converted their operation to a boutique of food to go. Some food is premade and ready to go. Such as soup, chili, tomato basil, and chicken vegetable. Chicken pot pie (and these are the best I have ever had) individual servings or larger; they also offer shepherds pie equally good. Salads and chicken to go. Great deserts to go as well. They also have a limited menu where you can request a meal to go. Very good hamburger sandwich cooked to order and ready in 15 mins. They have also converted the dinning room to a gourmet shop of pasta, sauce, spices and oils. Get the drift? Visit and support the local merchant.
A great place. I called and they held my cake for me. Very nice and professional people work here. If the cake is half as good as the service and employees I'm sure it will be fantastic!
This is easily one of Kansas City's classic Staples. It's really popular with the blue-haired crowd, but that shouldn't stop you from going there. It's wonderfully old world with a passionate staff that cares an awful lot about their product. It's really great to see the classic techniques of The Culinary world not going to waste!
Baked goods are on point. For the price you get a made from scratch delectable treat. Enjoyed a strawberry lavender bar with some blueberry headband...incredible!
Had a great time picking up some great food, pantry essentials, and a latte here yesterday! Sweet staff, extremely nice owner and amazing environment and selection.
terrific food, service and drinks; our table had the special of the day pizza (light and fluffy, tasty) , some great cocktails (elderflower in one and the best Manhattan i have had in kcmo), trout and pork belly. all wonderful.
The BLT and daily handcut fries are the bomb! Love walking here and sitting outside. Cannot wait for the larger south plaza location to open soon! and always grab something from the little bakery case while you wait. Yum!
Charming spot, darling staff, amazing service from the kindest owner you’ve ever met, fabulous food, and a great selection of grab and go meals and unique grocery items. New location has a great patio space with plenty of outdoor seating!
I love this place. Every cappuccino and every desert I’ve had here is really tasty. Ordered a Chicken Pot Pie to heat at home and it was delicious. Well laid out and very helpful staff.
Lovely cafe with an amazing staff. The food was delicious! The chicken vegetable soup was the best I have ever had, and the lemon cake is a MUST!!!! So happy to see they have expanded and it is such a bright airy place to either sit inside or in the great outdoor patio. I can’t wait to come back!
Popped in with colleagues one day and we had to go back the next day, it was that good! The restaurant/space is so cute, filled with upscale market-like items for purchase (teas, candles, chocolates, pastries, etc.). For lunch we all ordered sandwiches or burgers and they were delicious! They have a wonderful selection of hot teas and gorgeous, delicious pastries! The family and staff that run Cafe Europa were so warm and welcoming and so gracious that we came back. I would HIGHLY recommend visiting and will definitely be going back.
This is our local go-to restaurant when we need to relax and up with each other - which is often. We’re always greeted warmly by the owner and staff. We love that they have specials. And we feel valued by the way they remember our favorite table and cocktails, which are superb. The food is always good, and the ambience is small, cozy, casual but very nice. High recommendations for this neighborhood eatery!
This is a nice neighborhood cafe with a varied menu and incredible pastries. I had the quiche Lorraine, which was nicely moist without being runny. The crust was perfectly baked and tasty. The grilled onions were flavorful without being overwhelming. The house salad is nicely served with the house vinaigrette dressing. I look forward to sampling more of their well prepared cuisine soon.
One of my Absolute Favorite places for lunch! Nice variety of lunch meals. I enjoy the House Chicken Salad on mixed greens. Start with their Marinated Mixed Olives, and the Iced Tea is something Special. And their Baked goods aren't Surpassed! So save room for dessert! Love, love the Lemon Cake Supreme! OMG, and with their fresh hot coffee, Pure Heaven! And the owner Ben, is usually there, he is The nicest guy! You will love it All!
Hands down the best lemon cake ever. I've been coming here for 3 years, and their lemon cupcakes with cream cheese icing are top notch. I love the staff there, always warm and inviting. Come sit at the bar and enjoy a slice of lemon heaven with an americano. The restaurant features an ever changing seasonal menu. Which is impressive.
Had the best BLT (and fries) here the other day!! Love the new location!! Finished it off with with a few French macarons, which were amazing!! If you haven’t had the lemon cake, so yourself a favor and head there right now!! It’s so yummy!! Can’t wait to go back!!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Kansas City. I've had breakfast, lunch and dinner here many times and the food is always outstanding and the service is good. Everything is very fresh, beautifully presented and feels like a European cafe. The bakery and pastries are the best in Kansas City! I can never resist if I'm even close to the restaurant. You won't be disappointed at Cafe Europa!
I love Cafe Europa. The food is exquisite, the atmosphere is relaxed. The portions are decent, but do leave room for their signature lemon cake. It is a must. I've been for dinner, and Sunday brunch as well, and this is one of my very favorite places now.
A favorite spot for fresh and delicious lunch! The staff and owners are incredibly kind and helpful. They also put together the most amazing charcuterie platters for an event we hosted!
Fantastic service and the food was outstanding! We are definitely going to be making this one of our regular spots. The carrot cake is one of the best I've ever had. Highly recommend this place.
Wonderful meal from starters to dessert. The fries are lovely and the beet salad was one of the best I have had in town. The steak was lovely but the potatoes and garlic cabbage with microgreens stole the show on the dinner plate. Holy cow that lemon cake packs a beautiful lemon punch. I also grabbed a small pie and a slice of almond cake from the bakery before leaving.
Have lived a few blocks away from Cafe Europa for 7+ years now, and love it for a go-to place to enjoy a nice meal or take folks from out of town to. They've never disappointed! With Covid, I was so sad when they closed for several months. I recently visited their new market + carryout concept and was happy with the set-up. There was a nice selection of packaged pasta, freshly made focaccia, and lots of selection in the fridge cases for jams, housemade salad dressing, carryout quiches, a variety of cheese, etc. I picked up a few things (their lemon cake, OF course!) and was happy to also purchase a few basic groceries I needed to support a local biz during this hard time. Looking forward to getting a carryout meal one of these days I don't feel like cooking!
As the name implies this is a little bit of Europe in downtown KC. The service is always excellent and food choices are good. The day we were there is was late enough in the afternoon that they were only serving a limited selection of small plates, but there was plenty enough to eat and with room left for dessert from their fine bakery selection.
The service is excellent and the food is always delicious! Each member of my family has a different food preference, but we're all happy here. It's one of our regular places for a nice meal.
The avocado BLT was very delicious. OMG the lemon cake is the BEST and enough to feed 2. A very generous portion. The staff very accommodating waiting on us as we sat outside enjoying the Saturday.
A great place to eat. The food and service are always top notch. Reminds me of a fine French brasserie. The Green Salad is my go to choice for lunch and you can't go wrong with any of their desserts.
The quiche was good, but overpriced for what you get. It was also irritating that the owner came to our table twice encouraging us to come more often.
Quaint and nice. The food is good, but the dessert case is where it's at. I'd sell my right arm for the chocolate chess pie. The carrot cake is also delish.
Staff is very nice and attentive; lemon cake lived up to every expectation! Chocolate chip cookies look a lot better than they taste (lacking flavor and a bit over cooked/dry). Food menu has room to expand for more options, quiche was amazing. Great ambiance but would love to see wine options in their future with more diversity in the menu with the addition of shareable plates.
Overall nice place. What's best? Their baked stuff..hands down! You might as well buy some off the front counter and walk away. For dine in, to my judgment, they underperform for what they project. For the price line and level they apparently serve, cooking skill is mediocre. Ingredients are however good. Why still 4 stars? It overall gives a nice experience, good for two or small groups..and certainly for their desserts and bakery! Saying that not being even a sweet lover.
The Pastries, lemon cake they have a delicious strawberry cake, red velvet cake is to just die for, the only thing that I have to complain about is that I ordered some cupcakes last year and they did not get my order correct but I can’t complain that’s the only reason I gave cafe Europia a four star up, other than that the pastry, cakes cookies are delicious. I have to stop and get a slice of all their cakes they are simply delicious.
There were 10 of us having different bagels, cream cheese spreads, and pastrami- tasting lox. All delicious. Too often bagels are bread with a hole in the middle. These are really bagels--delicious. We went on Sunday and it was a good busy, but not crowded.
Very cute, very friendly spot with a simple, sophisticated menu. Wine list is well curated.**UPDATE: This is no longer a restaurant, sadly. The wine is gone, along with some great servers. As a market and bakery, I think maybe they should change the name. There are still some very good items to pick up but the charm and personality isn't there anymore. I do sincerely wish the place all the best, as I know it's tough times for everyone these days, but I miss what once was.
The food was excellent but our waiter had an bad attitude, not personable, and slow to serve us throughout the night. Came in at 7:30 and left at 9:25. 2 hours is too long to be in any restaurant. He was also hesitant when we requested the beet salad to share between us before our main coarse. He didn't think it was enough to share but on the contrary. I had the scallops which were great. The other 3 guest with me had 3 different entrees which were perfect. The waiter didn't offer dessert after coming with the bill despite me stating we wanted dessert. He finally came back with a menu. Dessert was great. I had my favorite, lemon cake. He gave us the bill then walked away for several more minutes after he seen us put in the cards. My husband finally flagged him down. He came over, we said thank you, he gave us a dirty look and walked away for another 10 minutes. Horrible service!!
I think our waiter, Tim, was hungover. He was polite but rather absent. Pouring half cups in the already tiny coffee cups. With the decor, menu, and unique charm i had high expectations for the food. The food was bland and far from interesting. Coffee was burnt and bitter, reminiscent of chicory 🤢. This was a far disappointment from the farm to table locations available all over the city.
Fancy cafe that serves espresso in paper cups I think they get from a dentist. And they sell nice espresso glass? That’s kinda offensive to someone spending good money for a euro style cafe especially since they sell the appropriate glassware. Place is off and very limited in the bakery selection. Meh… better places that let customers use adult cups exist
Expensive especially for the quality of the baked good we got the carrot cake and almond cake the almond cake is only sweet cause of the frosting on it and you can barley taste the almond and the carrot cake was tough
New location in south plaza is a waste of space. To begin they barely have anything on their shelf, yes they may be new but not much to offer like the other location. Secondly let’s talk about how over priced my sub par Caesar salad was. $18 for lettuce and croutons? Why wouldn’t you go next door to the Mixx for more food and less money. Pricing feels like your in LA. Sandwiches are small and also overpriced, go to Bella Napoli if you want a real italian sandwhich. They don’t know what they’re doing besides the lemon cake. Way too overpriced for it to come in a small to go containers. Don’t know why anyone would chose to go here instead of the Mixx across the street don’t waste your time
A friend and I had coffee there this morning. We were the only customers. We had coffee and a pastry (tasty.) Coffee was another matter. $3.25, which is not unusual, but they served it in a disposable cup with a lid even though we were eating in. I also asked for a refill which they do not offer. They were going to charge me another $3.25! I declined. THEN later (lucky for them) as I filed my receipt I noticed I had been charged $1.00 for a little half and half in my coffee. BIG disappointment and I will not be returning.
Wow- what a disappointment. This is NOT the Europa of the past. The food was horrible and over salted to the point of inedible (tuna salad sandwich) and the bread was tasteless. The Caesar salad was over dressed and served in a side salad bowl and the salmon on top was unseasoned and raw. I had to return the salmon to have it cooked correctly, and it still did not improve the taste. I couldn’t stomach eating the rest of salad. The service was very lacking as well, the server never asked how the food was and then we asked about desserts, she told us to get up and look at the desert case! I wish I wouldn’t have gone back and that I could have lived with the memory of how great Europa used to be. What a waste of money on a $50 lunch!
I normally love the food and atmosphere at this place. It’s where I have gone for every birthday dinner and celebration for years. This past time the hostess was absolutely brutal. She sat us at a table and then 5 minutes later came over with another patron right behind her and tried to tell us we were sitting at the wrong table. We offered to move but she apparently she just wanted to try and make us feel terrible and then move along with her day. I asked her if there was a problem and she continued to try and blame us (with a raised voice) for sitting at a reserved table — where she personally sat us. Being in the service industry and blaming a patron for your mistake to me is inexcusable.
I just happened to see that they moved to a new location and was excited to check it out, that is until the owner literally killed my joyful spirit. I was peacefully looking around when he walks up and aggressively gets in my face and asks have we helped you? Is there something specific you're looking for? I told him no and that it wasn't clear to me that he worked there but I did speak to the hosts behind the counter. Then he torts back well "I'm the owner". Well owner I used to come and enjoy backed goods at your old location but after such a rude encounter, I won't be returning. He trested me as if I were a nuisance or trying to steal something. Not okay!
