The whole family enjoyed the dinner! excellent food and paramount service.
Food was sooooo good. Staff was very friendly and attentive to make sure we had a great dinner. Not from out there but I definitely will stop there again
Best steakhouse all around hands down.
First time at Angelo’s for Mother’s Day and agree it is a hidden gem tucked away in a residential neighborhood in Kenilworth NJ. Food and service were excellent with a neighborhood restaurant vibe! Price was very reasonable which made it even better! Steaks were cooked just right paired with sides of creamed spinach and mashed potato. Also tried their classic chicken parmigiana and it was delish (not too salty like everywhere else). The owner Angelo added his personal touch by coming out to say hello to diners! Will definitely return to try other items on the menu!
We were in heaven after ordering the tomahawk with the lobster mac & cheese, stuffed artichoke & buratta prosciutto special. Everything was perfectly cooked and received at the right time. The wine pairing suggestions were excellent and on point with the meal.
My boyfriend and I made reservations for this location for a Valentine's Day dinner. When we arrived I parked on the street nearby. We walked in and was greeted by our server Jorge and he said we can sit where we please. Jorge was nice and attentive. We started with drinks and I ordered the red sangria and that was tasty. For our entrées I ordered the shrimp scampi and my boyfriend ordered the NY strip. While we waited we observed the restaurant and it was so nice and I really liked the decor. The owner, Angelo, came over and checked on us and he was nice. When the food came out everything looked great. I dug in and my shrimp scampi was very good. My boyfriend really enjoyed his steak. We had a nice time and would return.
The food was amazing! The service was superb. The ambiance was perfect! I would definitely go again.
Wondering dining... Great food, Great service. Everyone was really friendly, the chef even came out to see how the food was. We will definitely be back! Maybe put on some light music. Other than that it was great.
Great addition to the area! Food was fresh and delicious! Steak was prepared simply and was on point. I would 100% recommend this place and would definitely come back.
Your local Italian restaurant with at home feel. The food was right portions and tasty. My second time at Angelo’s and not be the last.
Enjoyed our delicious dinner. Maria the waitress was attentive and pleasant.
Absolutely beautiful place. The food is fresh delicious & plentiful. Great atmosphere. I will definitely be back often.
Fantastic and cozy steakhouse with an impressive list of well thought out specials and perfectly done ribeye. Lobster Bisque was delightful!
Came here tonight to celebrate my husband's birthday and we were very happy with the service and our food. We got the tomahawk steak. It was delicious and well seasoned! I suggest getting a pitcher of sangria. It was so good. We will be coming here again. This place is a hidden gem!
– Absolutely Outstanding! Angelos in Kenilworth is hands-down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment we walked in, the service was warm and attentive without being overbearing. The food? Next-level. Every dish was cooked to perfection — fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and beautifully presented. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between cozy and upscale. Whether you’re out for a date night, celebrating something special, or just craving amazing Italian food, Angelos delivers every time. Highly recommend!
My family and I were looking for a great restaurant that would be able to seat my large family, provide us with fantastic service, and bring out food that was outstanding to celebrate my college graduation. Angelos steakhouse did all of this and more. The staff was so friendly and really made you feel like you were part of a great experience every step of the way. Although the spot is new, they operate like they’ve been in the business for decades! I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at this restaurant, and I look forward to visiting again soon. Thank you for the experience!
Got the porterhouse for 2 and short ribs. Also, ordered appetizers and pasta dishes. Food was cooked perfectly. Service was also very good. Great place for steaks and pasta.
Reading the other reviews, I was surprised to drive down a residential street and find the restaurant, but it was easy to locate with the mural and there was plenty of parking. The service was top notch, the food was delicious and large portions. We all chose specials which were hard to choose from because one sounded better than the next. Everyone’s steak temperature came out as requested. The sides were fresh and done to perfection from spinach, to broccoli rabe, to mushrooms and onions. A few in our party had desert and espresso. Nothing but high regard for this hidden gem. Definitely will return.
We just moved to Kenilworth and today we had the pleasure to have lunch at Angelo’s Steakhouse. From the beginning until the end we had a amazing time. They greet us at the door. Angelo’s came to our table was very nice and friendly. Told us that he learned cooking from his grandma. Right there I felt like I was home. The service was impeccable. The food was amazing from the smoke bacon to the steak Oh my Gosh it was delicious. I loved the sangria everything was amazing. Our friends loved eating there also and we will definitely be back. The place is so cozy nice clean people nice and friendly I loved everything !!!! Definitely I recommend 100%.
We came here with a group of 8 for our 30th wedding anniversary and had the most delicious meal! The steaks were perfectly cooked and the chicken dishes were fantastic!
It is a great place with a nice atmosphere and wonderful staff. The owner even stopped by to say hello and asked if we enjoyed our meal. Though it's a steakhouse, I ordered fried calamari for an appetizer and short ribs over gnocchi with meat sauce for the main course, and both were incredible.
I had the lobster bisque and the linguine with clam sauce. I will go back for sure
My husband and I went Friday night for our anniversary dinner. And it was absolutely delicious. Staff, very friendly and attentive. I had a great beet salad, which was a special and topped it off with a shrimp cocktail. My husband had the filet mignon with vegetables and potatoes. Wld definitely go back.
Upon entering, the ambiance was relaxed and cool. In sitting 🪑 at the bar, I met the owner himself, “Angelo”, and he was humble and down to earth. I asked for a cosmopolitan and it came out amazing. Thereafter his wife, “Maria” was hospitable, ensured I was happy and adjusted. About an hour or less, my dinner was ready, because perfection in culinary takes time. And the food was delicious 🤤, to die for. If you’re in the #Kenilworth area of NJ come to #AngeloSteakhouse 🤞🏽 you won’t be disappointed 👍🏽
We had a phenomenal experience. Maria and Angelo as well as their staff were personable and most helpful. We both had the filet mignon med rare cooked to perfection. Our sides of onions, mushrooms, and broccoli rabe were superb. Our server recommended an Amarone red wine that robustly complemented the steak. The decor is drop dead gorgeous. It was our best dining experience after living in New Jersey since 1991. Yes we are old but we can still enjoy a night out!
Beautiful and quiet... the food is well made and the service is excellent. I would steer away from the cocktails if you dont know what goes in the making of them. Vould be a swing and a miss at times.
THE FOOD WAS AMAZING N THE STAFF IS AMAZING AS WELL I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO HELP THEM N THEY ALL WERE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING THE STEAKHOUSE IS CLEAN THE WORKERS R ALL DRESSED NICE N THEY R ALL VERY NICE N HELPFUL I WILL B LOOKING FORWARD TO RETURNING KEEP UP ALL UR GREAT WORK UR ABSOLUTELY AMAZING 💯
A hidden gem right in Kenilworth! The food is top notch, always fresh. The drinks are perfect and the atmosphere is family friendly. The staff is great and always give amazing recommendations. Can’t go wrong with anything chef Angelo is cooking! 10/10 recommend for your next date night or family dinner!
Staff is great. Food is delicious. So many choices. And everything is good. Fantatic drinks from the bar too.
We had a wonderful experience tonight! Vicente was excellent—he recommended delicious options and was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and the tastiest dishes. The filet mignon was incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked. My partner’s ravioli Bolognese was absolutely amazing! My aunt couldn’t stop raving about the prosciutto served with the burrata special—honestly, it’s the best prosciutto I’ve had in a long time. The atmosphere struck the perfect balance: easygoing and relaxed, yet romantic and warmly family-oriented. We’re so grateful we chose this steakhouse tonight. And let’s not forget the cappuccino—it was spot on. Huge compliments to the chef, and a sincere thank you to the owner for the complimentary cappuccino. A lovely gesture that truly capped off a fantastic evening!
Nice little Steak house with too of the line choices. Good choices in meats, seafood, and pastas. Ambiance was good as they had already decorated for Valentines day. Music was at a good volume to allow you to hear your party. Drinks were great. Would def return.
We visited for a family member’s birthday. The staff were friendly and answered all of our questions. We ordered 3 steaks, creamed spinach, mac n cheese, and a salad. I did call to reserve in advance and asked if they do anything to celebrate birthdays. I was told they do but they didn’t do anything for us so that was very disappointing. We still had a good time and the food was good.
I had my 5 year anniversary with my boyfriend here and the service was really attentive. We had like 5 waiters come up to us to see if we needed anything. The bread they gave us in the beginning was hard. But the meatball as we had were so delicious and the ribeye steak was amazing. But the waiter told us what side we wanted, we were thinking it came with the meal but it didn’t. They charged us for the one side which was like 16 dollars u can’t remember. Please give a disclaimer to everyone if the entree doesn’t come with a side. But overall experience was great and food was tasty. I would come back
So another steakhouse that was on our radar was Angelo's in Kenilworth on N 10th Street. It seemed to have very positive word of mouth . So trying it out was something we had to do. Glad we did because it was above average. Our appetizer was baked oysters with broccoli Rabe and parmesan cheese. For our entree, the Filet mignon and a chicken covered with prosciutto, mozzarella in a brandy type sauce served with a side of mushrooms and onions. Definitely worth the visit. A+.
We had a bunch of apps and a main courses they were good. Our waitress was great but the lady came over to us at the end of our meal after we paid and told us she had a party of 10 coming in and that we need to leave asap. We weren’t even there that long! Disappointed. After that we won’t be coming back.
We had a great meal. Everyone was really friendly. We were not rushed. But we felt ignored at times, we were never asked if we wanted refills in our drinks, had to ask for our check a couple times.
Tomahawk steak was horrible. We had to send it back 2 times. The server was very misleading. He said we had 2 sides included with our order and wind up charging us for them. Drinks were ok, and the French onion soup. I definitely wouldn't recommend it.
The inside of this restaurant is very nice reserved with a nice bar. Our waitress was awesome and super attentive to our needs making our stay pleasant! I liked my steak but didn’t love it as I thought it could have been more flavorful. Spaghetti was well presented but same issue, lacking flavors and salt. I did expect more steak options for a steakhouse menu but there were a few more options on the “specials” for the evening so biggie I suppose. I would recommend reservations if your dining after 6pm on the weekend.
***3 1/2 stars*** I'm genuinely curious how most people find out about this place. I literally noticed it on Google Maps while I was looking around for something else in the area, and was completely confused, based on my knowledge of Kenilworth. "Wait, isn't this...not where restaurants are? I'm pretty sure this is is in the middle of a bunch of auto repair shops." Well it was, but thankfully it has a giant cow mural painted on the side to distinguish itself from the other establishments in the neighborhood. My top tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality and I came here for lunch on Sunday, deciding to try a new place (we have a regular spot in the area of town that DOES have restaurants). It was easy to find and wasn't COMPLETELY surrounded by auto shops - this is also on the edge of a residential neighborhood, but they definitely do have the monopoly on restaurants here. (My chum did peer along the sides of the building to make sure it was open/safe, but for the record I thought that was unnecessary; as mentioned, there was a cow mural.) The interior is very black and white, which now in hindsight feels like a bovine homage as well; I literally don't think there was another color factored into their interior design. We walked in around 2PM, I believe, and the restaurant was completely deserted for about the first hour or so. By the time we left, there were maybe two other parties but it was never remotely crowded, and aside from a mildly miserable toddler in the corner, we were the youngest people in there by 20 years. We sat at the bar in view of the Mets game/tribute to Doc Gooden, and had complete control over the TV, which is always a subtle perk. We'd accidentally eaten some high quality pastries earlier in the afternoon so we weren't in the best position to succeed here, but we still put together a respectable performance. We split some burrata and calamari, as well as the 22-ounce cowboy steak on the specials menu, with mashed potatoes on the side. It's also possible a pitcher of white sangria showed up. My chum liked the food a bit more than I did, but it was decent for what it was. My preference is for the calamari to be on the crispier side, but this was softer than I like it and the texture felt chewier than usual as a result. The steak was tasty (I requested that cut specifically as an homage to Cowboy Carter, but I admit that might not be the best approach when ordering food) but had a fair amount of fat/gristle that needed to be cut off. Honestly I don't know enough about this cut to know if that's unusual or not. The star for me was the mashed potatoes, which were delicious and I wish had been accessible to me when I got my wisdom teeth out. The sangria was made to order (which I liked, but my far more sophisticated chum pointed out limited the ability of the flavors to set), but I enjoyed it. A rosy hue almost immediately showed up on my cheeks. The service was excellent. We were pretty much the only game in town for a good chunk of our visit, but notwithstanding that, the bartender/waiter was almost always within eyeline/earshot and checked on us regularly. We were both impressed by his knowledge of the specials menu, which was pretty extensive, and he "read the room" well (aka knew we were taking our time and didn't rush us through the experience). Angelo himself showed up once or twice as well to ask how we liked the steak, which was a super nice touch. This isn't an insanely high-end steakhouse (not an insult) so the price point is pretty competitive, all things considered. There really wasn't anything here though that truly separated Angelo's from any other steakhouse in the area, but it was perfectly fine. It's a very short walk from my chum's HQ, so the convenience and service puts this one just over the top for me.
Overall not bad for a local place. Appreciated the more modern atmosphere than some old school steak houses. Porterhouse decent but was twice as good once you added salt. Loaded potato’s best part was the bacon! Caesar salad had way too much dressing and was served on a warm plate, which made for limp greens. Desserts were premade somewhere else and looked like they hadn’t been chosen in a while. Some food tweaks and this could be a great place. Didn’t try the bar scene but a very nice bar.
I ordered the steak and was pretty disappointed. It was burnt on the outside and lacked flavor overall — I’d give it a 5 out of 10. The service was excellent, very friendly and attentive, but unfortunately the food didn’t meet expectations. I won’t be coming back
Artichoke was not hot, and had no meat nor heart. Tiramisu was not fresh. Won't be back here.
We waited an hour and a half for our food, even though we were one of only three tables in the restaurant, so I’m not sure what caused the delay. I also mentioned to the owner that it was my sister’s birthday, and she said, “I can throw a candle on the dessert, but that’s the best I can do,” which didn’t feel very warm or celebratory. The staff overall didn’t seem sweet or welcoming, and the vibes were honestly pretty off. I will say the food was good, but definitely not worth that kind of wait — I’d rather go to Olive Garden. Lol
My husband and I came to the restaurant to have a date night , and try a new restaurant. We had a reservation and the hostess couldn’t find us , mind you I had the confirmation but anyways she sat us down but the waitress awful , took her time did not ask any single question or suggest anything at all , steak was cold and forgot part of the order . Do not go here , she looked bothered and we spent 300 dollars .
We were a group of eight adults and only 2 of the meals were cooked the way they were supposed to be. My husband and I had steaks and they were supposed to be medium rare but they were well done and considering how long we waited to get them it wasn't worth sending back. And the steak juice in the dish was burnt with a little bit of a bitter taste because of that. Our friends dinners... the halibut and vodka sauce dish which was very dry, the shrimp scampi didn't have any real garlic in it and she ate about ⅓ of it, the cowboy steak was also supposed to be medium rare as well but it was well done. The salmon dishes were ok. And for a Saturday night we were only two tables in the whole restaurant which was a little concerning but we all decided to give it the benefit of the doubt considering it was already 8:30pm. The only saving grace was the appetizers which were VERY good especially the Applewood pork and the Mozzarella and carrozza. And we waited quite a while for drink too. I'm always a full supporter of small out of the way restaurants because they can be very surprising and rewarding but this was just disappointing.
It was honestly disappointing to WASTE money here. The service was great! The waiter was very attentive But unfortunately the food was bland, no seasoning on the steak or lamb or mashed potatoes. We dont mind spending good money on a good steak so to come and waste almost $200 on bland food was devastating, the worst part was that the restaurant was completely empty so you’d think they will take the time to serve something good. We would not be coming back here. I’d suggest for you to find something different as well. Oh and after we expressed our discontent with the food they added the tip! To the bill lol. I do NOT recommend this restaurant.
Where to start, I ordered a $45 ribeye steak cooked medium, I got an overcooked disappointment, and I sent it back to receive a raw steak in return. Our potatoes were raw, and the broccoli was soggy and overcooked. The owner was aware of everything going on. He finally came over to tell us his chef doesn't know what he is doing, and mind you, the owner is wearing a chef coat sitting at the bar. They took nothing off the bill even though they knew our dinner was a disaster. $400 mistake, I highly suggest avoiding this dump.
We waited over 1 hour & 30 min for our food. Staff are nice but you can barely understand them because they all have heavy hispanic accents. Barely any food options. Also food is extremely overpriced for what it is. You're better off going to any other Italian restaurant, there's hundreds in the area.
Went with super high expectations and was very disappointed. Upon walking in there was a faint smell of must like there had been water damage turned me off immediately, then ordered the special appetizer. Some kind of pumpkin thing with sausage in it it was OK but strange that the owner’s wife kept lurking around the table, asking us if it was good…like was it supposed to be bad???Then I ordered the short rib special and my husband ordered the fish special. The short ribs came out so tough. I couldn’t even get one bite out of them and the fish was still raw on the inside. It was never cooked right so both dishes went back …they offered something else but At that point didn’t even wanna try one of their desserts on the house. Nope paid the bill left and will never go back very disappointed
These reviews have to be fake. Porterhouse Steak, med-rare, was hard and tasteless. The lobster bisque had a few small pieces of lobster and tasted like heavy cream and off. Place was empty. What a letdown.
