This place just what the doctor ordered. Was visiting in town and didn't want to do the "chain" thing. Saw this place. Great tasting burgers and sandwiches. Prepared fresh after you order. Good, friendly staff. Nice seating for froends, couples and families. On my to "do again" lust.

Just got a burger from there, incredibly delicious. Not a bad price either and the menu was easy to understand. It's a small place, but it's also locally owned and not a chain(hard to say that about most kilgore restaurants) Fresh and cheap, what more can you ask for?

Nice local hometown burger joint. Always nice folks. Lots of menu choices including fish and buffalo burgers. Complimentary hot bowl of pinto beans and hushpuppies while you wait on your order. Just has an old town relaxed atmosphere with some good grub.

A couple of friends invited me to go with them to Char-Burger. I had the Catfish Plate, it was so good, I tasted the Yummy Chili Burger, think I'll have that next time. Big pot of beans that you serve yourself Hot, fresh & oh it's so good. I will go again soon.

I love this establishment fish filets. The fish is always cooked crispy and fresh just the way I like it. My 21 month old loves the fish and tater sauce. This has become one of our go to meals when daddy goes bowling on Friday nights. I recommend this establishment if your in town and want some good fish. The Steber's 🧡✝️

Fun "local" joint! Treated like family. Order the special #11 and the suggested #8. Burger were both as yummy as can be! Had the large onion rings, but should have saved the dollar and purchased the small. Large portions and great food! Definitely a gem of a place!

My family has been coming here since the day they opened in the 70s. It's the 1st burger I ever ate since I was old enough to chew. I've long since moved away to another state but I still dream, dare I say fantasize about, have drool inducing cravings for the chilli cheese burger.

I ordered the #9 and omg, best burger ever!!! This place has such a big menu, burgers, patty melts, chicken sandwich, fish and chips, frito pies, you name it they might have it, okra is good too! Thanks and I'm leaving full and happy, I also drank some of the white gravy at the end when I ran out of things to dunk in it, so glad I'm full.

Very good hamburgers! My dad and I both got a loaded burger with fries. It was just a little bit over $12 and made to order. The staff was very friendly. We definitely will be back!

Amazing diner feel and a good place to scratch that burger itch. The fries are a bit inconsistent, but are not a huge let down. I will be coming back.

Haven't eaten here in a very long time. In my return, I ordered their fried fish. And it was very good. Lots of meat and the cornbread batter was perfect. I'll get a burger next time because they smelled so good!

Fantastic place to eat. First time here and not the last! The cheeseburger was fantasic and I loved the seasoned fries. We were told about this place by a local who went here since a kid, we were not disappointed. I will come from Tyler just to eat here it is that good!

Don't let this place fool you. It's a sleeper. An absolute MUST eat if you're in town around lunch time and like an always friendly\family-like staff and a fresh hot meal to treat your taste buds to! I enjoy the #6 burger w\ a large seasoned fry, and of course a bowl of the consistently good complimentary frijoles. All partnered with a nice, cold, sweet tea. I'll see y'all there!

If you're not ordering a #3 at the Char-burger, you're doing Kilgore wrong. Just kidding, I'm not from Kilgore, so I can't tell you how to do Kilgore right. That said, my family thinks the #3 is the best and most unique burger on the menu! Forget what to think a chili burger is, the #3 has a meat-only chili, cheese, a Wendy's-like patty, and smoke sauce -- which is like a sweet BBQ sauce. If eating in, make sure to get the hush puppies (fried jalapeno cornbread) and beans that's free to those who dine in. This place gets 5 stars for the great service, the #3 and mini #3, and the nostalgia factor that my family always has going here. My parents came here as kids when Miss Barbie ran the place in a different location. Always a must-eat when we come to Kilgore!

Steak finger basket with fries, coleslaw, toast and gravy for 10 bucks!!! It was really good and the staff were very friendly. A customer asked me if it was my first time and I said yes. He then turned and told me "Welcome, all of its good!" He was correct about mine.

First time here. I ordered a mini burger with everything, and seasoned fries. For a mini burger it was just right. Clean establishment, very good and fast service. Over all 5 stars ! Definitely recommend if you are visiting Kilgore like us. Also prices are really good, less than $20 for two burgers, two fries and drinks. You cant get that at any fast food place.

Love the hamburgers at Char-Burger. Have been eating here since college and other than moving to the present location, it hasn't changed much. If you're looking for one of the best burgers around, you'll want to eat here. I recently tried the grilled chicken BLT on a wheat bun. I wanted a little healthier version and decided to give it a try. It was a good decision.

Burger was awesome. Nice little place that you can get a great burger. This would be a good place to take the kids since they have a bunch of options other then burgers.

I tried the #4 burger (chili, onions, cheese, smoke sauce, relish sauce) and it was delicious! The menu is a bit overwhelming but has plenty of options. 1 year update: Char-Burger has now become somewhat of a Friday tradition. Seasoned fries are also great. Faster service would earn a 5th star.

Forget McDonald's. Love this place. Pricing us about the same if not a little cheaper. Great food and wonderful service. I never give 5 stars. Keeps us up to those standards or helps exceeds them.

I was a but disappointed in Char burger. I give it a 4 because it was hot fresh the people were kind and had great customer service. But the food was not the best. Not enough chili powder in the chili meat. And the sauce on the number 3 was not enough to be considered a number 3.

A no frills restaurant that serves classic American food. Tried it for the first time today. We had the chili burger, steak sandwich and fries. The chili burger had good flavor while the steal sandwich needed more mayo/ sauce and seasoning.

The God was good! They have some beans available where they have their condiments and they are good. I ordered some fish and I thought it was supposed to come with coleslaw...I guess not. Three of us are for $25 not bad!

Very friendly staff, but the poor woman at the counter was taking orders, doing drive thru, busting tables, and serving the food alone. Which made service slow as much as she was trying to keep up with it all. The food was decent and if you like chili, I’d definitely recommend it.

Reliably delicious "greasy spoon" which desperately needs a thorough cleaning and decor update. "Comfort food" on steroids! Great specials and reasonable prices. No printed menu, and menuboard takes 30 minutes to read; better to just ask cashier for what you want. Complimentary beans (with meat), hush puppies, and onion. Actual lemon wedges for tea and catfish!

While the cook-to-order wait for our buffalo burgers was kinda long, everything was fresh, delicious, affordable, and correct on the first try. The workers are very friendly.

Had very good patty melt and the counter girl was very sweet. She cleared tables, brought out food and serviced the drive through and was smiling the whole time. She really was 3 people that day. She did a great job.

The food is good and inexpensive. The staff is friendly and attentive. They offer complimentary pinto beans and hush puppies as well which are also good. The only thing that bothers me about this place is that it always smells strongly of disinfectant. I'm glad they're using it, but it is strong and not very pleasant to smell while eating.

Great food and low prices. When you hear the name Charburger Stockade, you picture a western themed rustic restaurant. Unfortunately it's not like that at all but it's still a great place. It feels like a classic diner.

I came here on a recommendation by a local Texas comedian and I'm glad that I did. The restaurant has a nice homely feeling and the staff was extremely friendly. The cashier was very sweet and gave me recommendations on what to try and personally brought out my food to me along with some ketchup for my fries. I liked the burger but the only reason I gave this a 4 instead of a 5 is because the burger was heavy on the sauce and detracting from the taste that I was looking for. Otherwise, the burger patty itself was homemade and seasoned, the fries were piping hot and crispy and the soda tasted perfect. I love the pricing here, and that everyone is able to afford a burger whether full size or mini. You can walk out of here spending less than $10 for a homemade burger and feel satisfied.

Food is good but the service is horrible. Sat in the drive through for 14 minutes and they never came to the window just looked at me.

First time to visit. Ordered it plain and it came with mustard. Got all the way home to eat and was not happy. The onion rings were good, just not alot of flavor.

The only reason I even gave this place any stars is because the people were actually pretty nice. Besides that I wouldn't come here for food. Now it wasn't horrible, but it just wasnt that good either. As soon as I got my burger it started falling apart. The buns were super soggy, and it had little taste overall. The fries were even worse, their large fry is the same size as a small fry from McDonald's.The food had poor taste, and the environment just felt outdated. Overall I wouldn't recommend this place, but just in case you happen to come here don't worry, its not a total disaster.

I was very disappointed that the hamburger didn't have that great taste of being Char Broiled. When I went to college in Kilgore the Char Burger Diner was in one of the old corner buildings. It seems like I ate there every other day. Now it's in a newer building across the street. The French Fries were good.

I was actually disappointed in the lunch experience I had here today. The cheeseburger was nothing to brag about, and I had some friends give me a sense of false hope. I was all excited to get this big juicy burger and what I got was comparable to the soy burgers we used to get in the school cafeteria. It was really so bad that I didn't even eat it! Definitely stick with the catfish here. It's always very good, but super expensive. I've been told the chili burger is good, but now I'm scared to try it honestly.

The chili burger and frito pie here were very very good. The steak fingers were absolutely terrible. The staff was slow and the restaurant was filthy dirty. If the staff would clean the place up and work on the service part, this place would be great.

Old old school burger joint. Boss Lady and I came in for lunch. She ordered one of their burgers and I their steak sandwich. Her burger was just Okay, not the best. My sandwich was kinda funky. The "steak" looked like some kind of processed meat that had been frozen. It all tasted fine. The onion rings and fries were good too. I wouldn't come back, although there's not too many many choices in this small town.

I’ve been to char burger quite a few times, they always take a little while but this time was a bit ridiculous. I order one cheeseburger in the drive threw, no fries or drink, just the burger. This was at 12:42 (checked receipt to make sure) it is now 1:13. I’ve been waiting for a single burger for 30mins. Now I understand being busy or something, but honestly, 30 minutes for a burger?

Great burgers, I would've said good prices. But I went and accidentally ordered chicken fried steak instead of chicken fried steak burgers (I'm not originally from the south, it threw me), ran back in and said I needed two buns with lettuce and some mayo cause the husband wanted burgers not just the patty. They ended up charging me the full price of two chicken fried steak burgers for the two buns and some lettuce. It nearly doubled the price. I went too my car flabbergasted and then balled my eyes out. Not sure if I'll be coming back.

about the place itself, the booths are uncomfortable, they don't have a variety of seating, and it was overall just crowded in there. about the food (at least what I got) the steak fingers weren't seasoned, weren't all the way cooked, they tasted like they were microwaved and then fried, and the gravy was actual water. the fries were alright.

We've been there 4 times, the first 3 times were great! The 4th was disappointing, the staff was very nice but clearly overwhelmed by the amount of people during lunch rush. There were open tables but they all needed to be cleaned off. It took 45 mins to get our food and another 15 mins to get the fries that didn't come out with the burgers. It wasn't as clean as the other times, there was a dying cockroach on the floor by our table, made it difficult to enjoy our food when it finally made it to the table. Felt bad for the staff that were hustling around trying to stay afloat.

The people were really nice . Unfortunately the food was gross. Everyone raved about it and the only good part was the prices were cheap. Unfortunately out entire group was not satisfied with the quality of food. My chicken salad tasted like rubber

I’ve gone in twice in the past week and ordered hamburgers and fries to go. Watched my order sit under the heat lights for a minimum of 10 minutes each time. Tonight it sat up there several minutes, gets taken down and then put back up. There was one family already eating when I went inside and ordered. Yet took over 30 minutes to get one hamburger. My mother has ate there for years and I’ve been eating since I came back to town 2 years ago. They have gotten my last dollar and I told my mother she needed to pick another place because I will never go there again. I don’t know what happened to the owners but I haven’t seen them the last few times I’ve been there and the service shows.

Super disappointed. Everything we got was cold. We watched it sit in the window for about 5 mins. Didn't even finish my meal. We ordered two burgers, fries and onion rings.

The wait time was rediculous. The food tasted like it had been in the freezer too long. Part of the order was simply forgotten. The staff seemed to preoccupied with carrying on conversations with each other than serving patrons. Perhaps it was just an off night. My friend even commented about how she remembered the place being better.

Decent food but HORRIBLE SERVICE. Called in 1 order of fish, 15 minutes later arrived to pick it up, it wasn’t ready so they asked me to park in the back. 20 minutes later still not ready. I walk up to the drive through and ask about it and the guy says “oh this must be yours, we couldn’t figure out who’s it was.”

I pull in at 8 pm and walk inside and tell them I am waiting on my wife and grandson. I sit at a table and the cook and a waitress tells me that the dinning room is closed that if I go outside and call them they will take my order. I call them and they say it is closed and hang up on me All of this before 8:30. I walk to the drive thru to let them know it is me and they said that everything is shutdown now that they cannot fix any food. Excellent customer service there. Anyone know who the owner is?
