Amazing food and service

Love their chicken! It's always nice and hot. We live about 40 min away, so when we pick it up and take it home, it's still nice and warm. I really love their rolls!

Who would have imagined that fried chicken could be this amazing? This is, without a doubt, the most exceptional fast food fried chicken ever! Although we rarely indulge in fried chicken, we were craving it and wanted to order from our usual place. However, we decided to try something different and opted for Golden Chick, despite never having tried it before. To our astonishment, it was an absolute game-changer! We have never experienced chicken this phenomenal before. The crunchiness was unreal, and the flavor was the best we've ever had. It's unbelievable that it's considered fast food! Since we can only have fried food occasionally, this is now our go-to place. It's incredibly delicious, juicy, and piping hot. Even after taking it home, it remains too hot to handle. Normally, I'm not a fan of fast food, but this is a noteworthy exception. It's mind-boggling that we have passed by this amazing place countless times, but now we know exactly where it is. KFC, you've been surpassed!

Great Food and good customer service 👌 Update Today Sat Feb 8 2025 5:00pm i went into the lobby to place an order, the lady in charge there aside from mistreating a new employee, she was being rude to customers. Her facial expressions were very uninviting. Ms De La Garza , this place for many years has shined in La Joya , don't allow employees like that ruin the legacy. Mr. De La Garza ✝️ would have not allowed that! 🚫

Very clean and great service!

Always a good experience at Golden Chick in La Joya. They almost always have exactly what I go there for...instead of having to pick and choose from whatever they may only have available at the time. Friendly & polite service. Only negative thing is the wait time at the drive though however this time around, given there were three vehicles in front of me, I was in & out within about 20 minutes.

Staff was friendly and looked neat and clean. Food was fresh and great tasting. We had the fried gizzards and chicken tenders with mashed potatoes, gravy and rolls with sweet tea. Everything was AWESOME! Bathrooms were both very clean.

Clean area to sit and eat dinner. Chicken tenders were delicious along with Mac and cheese and okra. Free ice cream cone was a bonus. Large portions. We had enough left for a take home box for another meal

This establishment is always busy. It is best to order via phone. If not, you will have to wait in line for your order if you go in person. But other than that the food is good, and people are friendly.

2/18/25 Ate lunch at 1 pm and had best roasted chicken and okra. Chicken very moist and okra hot and fresh right out of the fryer. Was not in a hurry so watched as the employees seemed to work well together to get the orders out in a timely matter. Keeping tables cleared seem to be the only issue but still think staff were all busy to keep the food flowing out in a timely matter. As a winter Texan this is one of my favorite places to dine at.

This place is my go-to for some Fried chicken or Chicken tender, and their chicken livers are pretty tasty and never dry ... and the okra is Awesome ... Always crispy and just done right! ...will say thou..wish the gravy was thicker... Now the Bread Rolls ...WOW!!! delish!!! if you ask for Honey, they will have it !!!! Totally worth breaking the total daily recommend carb intake... load up!

We have been searching for a restaurant that has southern fried catfish. We ordered delivery. Wife had the catfish and I had chicken both were delicious. We will definitely be dining with them again.

Great chicken. I've tried both cruchy and crispy fried and the roasted chicken. Both super moist. Sides are all good. Service is always great. Only one thing that would make this a 5 star. I cant stand the white gravy they serve. Livers are the bomb!!

This particular location was great. My first time eating at Golden Chick. The staff worked together and there was an abundance of smiles. Would visit again soon if I did not live in Mission.

Came here because Church's had no chicken. I know, right. By comparison, food is good. The taste is different. Not a nice looking place, but you're here for the food. Server was not very polite but not rude.

I enjoy Golden Chick chicken. I have to wait every time for the chicken yes it will be hot and fresh when I finally get it, but tell the customer that it will take time to fill the order. I understand fast food places get busy but it's lunchtime you should be ready for small and big orders La Joya location

Love this place they serve other kinds of foods compared to their competitors. Golden chick can only be found from LA joya to Brownsville and nothing North of that. I recommend this place great selection of items like livers, dirty rice, potato wedges and much more. Closest to Starr county is LA Joya, Texas so a drive away.

Too many people working who are NOT working. Just standing around and not assisting. Food takes too long to make even after a phone order, calling ahead of time. Food(catfish) tastes good tho

I was supposed to receive my order at 5:40 but didn’t get it until 6:10.They had me waiting 30 minutes just for them to finally bring it out, but since they don’t pay enough attention they gave me someone else’s order. After telling them that that wasn’t my order they went back inside to get my order and brought my order incomplete. I told them that part of my order was missing so they went to get it back some rolls which doesn’t take long but since they still were taking long I decided to leave. When I got home and opened everything I saw that they didn’t even bother to put a single napkin or anything in there.

I went to the restaurant and they closed at 11:00 and none of the doors were open and there was people inside and the open sign was on they didn't even tell us that it was closed would not recommend to go in the night

I placed an order at 8:21 pm online and then another one in person to add some drinks at 8:52 with Cristal M when the store closes at 11pm , it is currently 9:46pm and I still have not received my order. There is 3 crew members working 2 females and 1 male and 2 of them are cleaning the lobby and restrooms instead of helping . there are 4 cars parked in the front just like me and they keep piling up. worst service i’ve ever experienced. The doors are locked and no one is allowed in, to top it off once they did give me my order it was incorrect and missing items, not even a sorry or anything basically just threw me the bags and ran back inside.

We waited for 23 minutes, before the said the employee forgot to drop the basket into the oil...Its just a bunch of kids that dont want to work...Very rude , the Whole staff was a joke...

Terrible service, I went to buy a dozen of rolls and they told me that they didn't have it because the Manager Elisa had told them to not take out bread again.

Returned to the restaurant for a refund that I was told to go in two days the lady manager is rude and the guy manager took over because she left the restaurant and didn’t come back. But the guy manager helped me and told me go back tomorrow if the bank doesn’t return it in the 3rd business day. Overall the lady manager is rude and condescending.
