This is one of the Denny's I intentionally frequent, even though it's a bit out of the way! The employees always have a positive attitude and it's clear they enjoy their jobs. Food is typical for a Denny's, not incredible but decent, and the facilities are clean.

Let’s talk about Carlos C., the Picasso of pancakes, the Mozart of morning service, the Beyoncé of breakfast vibes. This man isn’t just a server; he’s a one-man show. I’ve been to this Denny’s exactly twice—just twice!—and Carlos remembered me like we’re long-lost pen pals. The first visit was months ago, but he greeted me like an old friend and didn’t miss a beat. He’s like the Sherlock Holmes of diners, minus the deerstalker hat but with all the attention to detail. After making me feel like royalty and promptly delivering my order, a group of 16 people walked in. Not only did Carlos know every single one of them, but he had already set up their tables in a way that can only be described as a breakfast symphony. It was like watching the Michael Jordan of hospitality run plays at 6:15 a.m. on a Friday. While most of the world was still hitting snooze, Carlos was dishing out smiles, coffee, and unparalleled service to the entire restaurant like the breakfast superhero we didn’t know we needed. As a small business owner, I know how rare this level of dedication is. Carlos reminded me of the gold standard I strive for with my own clients—personalized, top-notch care that leaves a lasting impression. If you’re reading this, Carlos, know you’ve got a lifelong fan. And Denny’s, if you’re smart, you’ll clone this guy. If you’re in La Mesa and you’re not starting your day with a plate of eggs and Carlos’ contagious good vibes, what are you even doing with your life? P.S. Server was OK. Couldn't understand him well as he talked very fast. Food was barely warm and hashbrowns were terrible. The omelet had the filling on the outside with cheese hard not melted. Not sure what happened to this restaurant as it was very good a year ago. New owners? Also the cooks were shouting to the servers across the restaurant which made it feel like the swap meet.

Arrived at this Dennys restaurant for breakfast. There wasn't any wait however it took a while to be acknowledged to be seated. Staff was busy chatting. We were seated and were told that they had no bacon... could happen, but how can you run out of bacon 🥓 🤔 especially at 9am in the morning. Breakfast was good but not served hot, it was warm. My cousin had to ask for more coffee ☕️ and I was never asked if I wanted more water 💧so I'm being generous giving this restaurant 2 stars ⭐️⭐️ for service. The only person that asked us if she could take our plates was the bus person, thank you 🙏. Restaurant seemed to be clean however the front door could use a good cleaning. My cousin said the coffee ☕️ was very good 👍

There was only one hostesses/ waitress on the clock at the time surprisingly since it was dinner rush time. She who was chipper and pleasant. Although we had to wait for her to notice us after she took care of 2 or 3 things before even saying welcome In. We were seated at a dirty table that was obviously was done with no care to quality of cleanliness of even basic standards. She had to tell a customer that she would have to come back to them because she had other orders to take. She wasn't rude and did her best to give a positive and timely performance of her duty. No shame to her but it was clear she should have had more coworkers on her shift. She deserves a gold start for handling her work load. One of the dishwashers cane out to help her serve. Cuddos to him the food was satisfactory. Over all this dennys experience was a 1 star expierence. I wouldn't recommend this particular location if you are looking for a memorial restaurant to add to your revisit places. My suggestion is to hire even just one additional server to the shift.

Lots of issues the whole meal. We had a group of 4 plus a baby. We we're seated fast despite them being busy and our order taken in a good amount of time. After our order was taken the table next to us finished and left, the table was cleaned and a group of 8 sat. They had there meal which included a tbone brought before we recieved our app sampler and my wifes small soap. The soup was nasty, way too much seasoning you couldn't taste the broth at all and the sampler came cold, and our meal came only a minute later. We had to ask for silverwear. I had a skillet which was warm, but the chicken was dry and the potatoes all mush. We found hair in my daughters spaghetti that matched the cooks we could see's hair and no one wearing a hair net in the kitchen. The manager seemed to not think it was from them but compt the spaghetti anyways without agruement. We did not finish the food as the overall experience was disappointing. I suggest driving to ask different denny's.

DONT GO HERE! I don't post negative reviews based on one experience... I've been here multiple times and have had the same terrible experience. Very poor customer service. I just gave this location another try and they failed. Me and my wife left. No organization. Go to the Denny's off Navajo Rd.

Wouldn’t give this place a star, we walk in and they tell us it’s a long wait, the place is bare, 3 waiters, couple line cooks, waited 45 min. Food is minimal at best, hash browns weren’t warm at all, w nobody in there, no refills…why are u even open. Omg, I have never ever had such a bad experience like this place. Go to the counter to say nope, not paying, he tells the other people waiting, “ We told them”, u said long wait, not bad food preparation. Disgusting for a Denny’s.

It took over 5 years for me yo return to this location and nothing has changed. The service is hit and miss... the server was very kind but clueless about listening to our needs at all...we repeated ourselves several times. The restaurant was dirty [which is a shame when the owner clearly put money into remodel], and the food was horrible! The toast was probably in the toaster a whole 30 seconds, the hashbrowns [I requested well done] were undercooked in every possible way, and the sausage patties tasted like they had freezer burn. I told all of this to our server and he could see I barely touched the inedible food and he didn't so much as offer a discount let alone a 2nd attempt from the cooks or to flat out comp the price. This is basically a repeat of what happened to my husband and I 5+ years ago at same location. All this time later and same issues... we will NEVER go there again. Marie Callender's is our new go to and they are always spot on! The 5 minute extra drive is worth getting my food order correct.
