The staff are such sweethearts and are super patient with me when I was struggling with my stutter. The food is delicious and I ate a burrito that was super warm and cooked perfectly.

Love love love this place! My wife and I can’t get enough the burritos are absolutely massive. Pictured is the surf and turf burrito next to my wife’s leg for comparison. It took my wife 2 days to finish it, totally worth the $12. Yep! Only 12 dollars for that monster! And they don’t disappoint with the ingredients! Every bite you get shrimp, it’s totally loaded with shrimp. They’re while menu is awesome but the surf in turf takes 1st place in our hearts when eating at El Compadre

We went to El Compadre because we received a coupon in the mail, but we will definitely be going back! I love that they have a drive-thru, but we went in on our first visit and ordered food to-go. The lady at the front was very patient and helped me figure out what I wanted (my Spanish is limited and most of the menu, including descriptions, are in Spanish). They prepared the food quickly, and boy was it delicious! I had a Shrimp burrito and my husband had the two taco combo plate. They were generous with the salsas as well! But seriously, the food was great. Well cooked, full of spices, and very little grease. The prices are excellent for the quality food. We will definitely be going back!

A long over due review. I've been going to this place for over 5 years. Each time is nearly always through the drive through. Regardless of the time of day the employees are always friendly. They always have a home feel to them. The food is always fantastic to their burritos to the chimichangas . It is easy to customize your orders asking for no pico or to add rice ect they never have an issue to it. Yes sometimes it cost extra but realistically that's any place the more you add the more it's gonna be. When it comes to portion sizes it is more than enough food. Their burritos are always big and filling. Not to mention ALWAYS hot! Temperature hot so u burn ur tongue when you take a bite and I love that. Means it's fresh food and their cooking from the heart I always love their chocolate banana shake. As no matter what time of day it is always cold and refreshing.

Spent the Christmas weekend in La Mesa had the best Mexican food I’ve had in my entire life and I have been raised in California never knew the difference of having Mexican food and having real Mexican food. This was real Mexican food fresh the meat. The tortillas were fresh home handmade restaurant was clean. Bathroom was immaculate friendly service ever. ended up having their food at least three times while we were there definitely a go back!

Went to drive thru on way home from an appointment. Had a chicken tostada. It was very good. The woman at the window was especially pleasant. This shop is not where I am routinely but I will go back when in the area.

I miss the older guy that used to work there, I know he went to work at the El Cajon location. Does anyone know if he's still around? He was always so friendly.

The food was okay. Got a california burrito, like others have mentioned the potatoes were boiled or maybe baked rather than French fries. I also had red hot sauce that was just okay, end up using hot sauce from home instead. Would return to try something else but will be searching elsewhere for a cali burrito on this side of town.

The carne asada was whatever. The fries were soggy. I saw the lady prep them and then my order sat there for a good 5 minutes before I got charged and given the food. After eating half of the food my stomach started killing me. I am honestly really sad because for $15 dollars all I got was disappointment and stomach pain.

I definitely hop around to different taco shops. This one has the best hot sauce and Freshly cooked Mexican food. The ladies always nice. This one time she was kind of yelling, looking at me funny and it was because I was busy. I had something going on that was basically none of her business Inside my truck, my window went down 3/4 of the way. So she did not give me my soda and the correct hot sauce. I quit going there. It was weird experience. Maybe a month went by I went back one time. She was great like nothing happened then I went back last night, but it was on the last bite of enchilada. There was something hard I almost swallowed. It was a very thin piece of glass. It was small enough to go in my stomach unnoticed I don’t know why I felt like it was intentional. I’ve never had a piece of very thin, sharp glass in my food before. Hair yes! Here quite a few times! Maybe even a bug or in somebody’s food that was eating with me at any other restaurant! But never, Glass! My gut feeling tells me that it was intentional. Over me not giving her attention or her assumptions of what I was doing regardless. That’s sick. It sucks because it was one of my favorite places. Be careful. I wish I had the photo I should’ve took a picture and I’m not one to complain or ever put up bad reviews I don’t think I ever have. Maybe once This seemed pretty important, so please be careful. God only knows what that small sliver of glass would’ve done to my inside my intestines, my large intestine, my colon etc.. To think about thank you so much my name is Bobby Clark

Drove by and got a carne asada burrito. They forgot to add the guacamole. They added cheese and substitute the pico for onion and cilantro for my request... But the cheese was a bit cold and the tortilla as well. To top it off, no guacamole ;( carne asada looked a bit boiled…
