Opinions de Main 101 Grill and Bar La Porte
I looked this place up along with another restaurant and I chose this one between the two. And I’m hella glad I did! From the moment I walked in the outer doors to the inner restaurant door, I was greeted warmly with a huge smile from the hostess. I sat at the bar and the Bar Tender, who was in training I believe, was hella nice and attentive. The Manager even came out and greeted each guest one by one. Taking time to really chat with us. The food, of which I wish I had taken a picture of, was perfect! I ordered the File Mignon with Broccolini and Oven Roasted Finger Potatoes. For dessert I ordered the Crème Brûlée. I really enjoyed myself. As a truck driver, I look for special locations to eat when I’m treating myself and I’m extremely glad I chose this place. Totally worth the mile walk from the truck stop. I definitely will be back next time I’m in La Porte. Looking forward to trying some other entree’s that peaked my interest. Thanks for the great experience
This restaurant strikes the perfect balance between elegant and approachable. The candlelit tables and live music create a beautiful ambiance, and the food absolutely delivered. It feels like an upscale dining experience without the steep prices. A lovely spot for a special night out.
This is my first time eating here, and wow! Loved the menu options, from pastas to steaks, to amazing desserts. Our server, Larissa, was extremely helpful in explaining the menu and was very attentive. Would definitely come back to this place.
OMGosh...The BEST spinach salad, ribeye steak and lava chocolate cake EVER! Our wait staff, Joey and Larissa, were on point in all aspects of their service. Looking forward to our return...
I’ve dined at all the local prime steakhouses and this was by far my favorite. The temperature, seasoning, and chef accompiants were on point. Thank you Joey and Larissa for a phenomenal night. We will be back. Don’t forget to order dessert.
This restaurant is phenomenal!! We were so shocked at the quality of the food and the excellent service. We were not expecting much from restaurants in this little town, and were pretty much expecting something on par with IHOP. However, when they brought out the food, we were so impressed with the taste and presentation. It honestly can compare to a lot of the higher end restaurants we’ve been to in Houston but this place tasted even better. Definitely a 10 out of 10!
From the moment we went into the restaurant we were greeted with a smile and made to feel at home. The service and food were top notch. The waiter was attentive answering our questions and provided suggestions when asked. The food was delicious!
Great service, great atmosphere, great food! Able to accommodate a larger party, we had 7 including two smaller kids. Cody was our waiter and he was very attentive, had great suggestions and was even helpful with the kids, saw they were getting a little antsy towards the end of dinner and suggested putting in a scoop of ice cream to tie them over! Will be back!
We enjoyed a family dinner here. Service was excellent. Cody is awesome. And the food? Really, really good. The Ultimate Burger, spinach salad with blackened salmon, the NY strip steak. It was ALL so good.
My husband and I went on a Thursday night and were seated immediately with no wait. We both ordered the 3-course meal. I started with the Caesar salad, which had cool, crisp lettuce with no soggy leaves in sight. For my entrée, I got the shrimp scampi. It was bright, flavorful, and more sophisticated than the usual heavy, overly buttery, weirdly greasy cheesy versions I’ve had at other restaurants. The garlic-butter-lemon sauce was balanced, and the dish came with six large shrimp and a portion of rice. It was the perfect amount for a single meal, though it didn’t make leftovers. My husband ordered the Andouille & Blackened Chicken Pasta. It was creamy, spicy, and very filling. He had enough to take some home for later. For dessert, we ordered the cheesecake and the crème brûlée. The crème brûlée was phenomenal. The caramelized sugar crust paired perfectly with the creamy custard. We originally wanted to try the tiramisu, but they were out (which honestly told us it must be a popular and worthwhile pick). The cheesecake was also delightful. Service and atmosphere were excellent. The hostess was extremely welcoming, opened the doors for us as we left, and kept our water glasses full throughout the meal. Our server was pleasant and attentive. The restaurant itself had cozy vibes, soft lighting, and a live saxophone player playing light Christmas music, which added a really nice touch. One thing I want to highlight is how much Main 101 pays attention to detail. They could easily plate basic desserts and call it a day, but instead they added thoughtful touches like powdered sugar and a strawberry cut into a rose on a dollop of whipped cream. When my husband mentioned taking his leftover pasta to go, the server boxed it for him without hesitation. Small things like that really show the care they put into their service and presentation. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely be back—especially to try the tiramisu.
The dinner was Fantastic! Not a run of the mill dinning experience. Their menu had plenty of options, but the Chef's evening experience actually lived up to how it was described, and didn't disappoint. Every member of the staff seemed exceptionally attentive. I would happily dine here again.
What an amazing food experience! I saw a pic of a dish when I was researching the restaurant but when I arrived there I didn't see the dish on the menu. The waitress said, no worries and that she would ask the chef if he can make it for me. I still don't know the name of the dish but it's grilled salmon topped with lump crab meat in a sauce that was so good that I almost picked the plate! 🤣 It also came with rice and spinach. It was really really good.
I was in town for my brother’s funeral. The restaurant was closings in 1 hour. They greeted my family as if we were old friends. We did not feel rushed. The food was fantastic. The service was amazing. The owner of the restaurant came out and talked to us. This restaurant would definitely be my favorite if I lived here. Go and check it out for yourself you will not be disappointed
Main 101 Bar is the kind of place you stumble upon once and keep coming back to. Cozy vibes, great service, and an impressive menu. But what truly sets it apart is Joe — the culinary wizard behind the scenes. Whether you’re ordering off the menu or feeling adventurous, just ask Joe to whip up something special — he can literally cook any recipe you throw at him. I tried a custom dish and was blown away. You can tell he cooks with both skill and soul. If you’re ever in La Porte, don’t miss this spot. Come hungry and say hi to Joe — your taste buds will thank you!
I had the ceviche and deviled eggs with fried oysters. It was fabulous as usual. I've eaten both before. For dessert, I took the strawberry shortcake home. It was delicious. Logan, our awesome bartender, made an espresso and chocolate martini for our after dinner drinks. Thanks Logan. You are one great bartender.
Celebrated a birthday with a friend. My friend ordered a Steak Tartar, the owner served specially for my friend. She shared with me and it was delicious. I had the Salmon, it was also wonderful. The atmosphere and service was perfect for having a relaxing lunch, dinner or business meeting. I've been here many times and will return.
The hostess opened the door for us to enter and happily greeted us. We were sat and immediately had our drink orders taken. The atmosphere is soft and quiet, in a good way. The lighting isn’t blinding and gives a nice ambiance to the place. We were served fresh bread and herb butter. We ordered the pork belly as an appetizer, which was a delicious flavor combination. I ordered the filet mignon, which was cooked perfectly and melted in the mouth! This entire experience was pleasant and I will definitely be back!
I was very fortunate to come into this restaurant while on a work trip and also on Valentine’s Day. The team here had prepared a special limited menu for what they were serving on this day. I order the grilled oysters and the lamb chops. The grilled oysters were perfectly cooked and had a lot of flavor for oysters that didn’t require any hot sauce or added flavor. However the lamb chops that were prepared for me was absolutely the greatest enjoyment in eating I have ever experienced. The meat perfectly melted with every single bite. The flavor was perfectly preserved inside of the meat and you could taste the chef’s intention for the evening on the flavors of the menu. Absolutely amazing job by that team on this night.
This is about our 10th time here. Always enjoyable. The bread and homemade butter of course was a home run! We had the spinach salad, smoked, salmon, and dessert. Got a side of onion rings just because! It's always a nice dining experience and we tell everybody about how wonderful their food is. You will not go wrong no matter what you order.
Decided to eat around the historic downtown area of La Porte across the 5 points intersection. I've passed this place several times waiting for the right occasion and this was not it, lol, but figured why not. The menu was a little short but covered most pallets and they sounded good. We both ordered the 3 course options and mixed our choices as to taste as many different options as possible between 2 people. Grandson just ate some chicken strip meal that was large enough for an adult. For $14, it should be. Unfortunately they charged me for a Lemonade on a kids meal that should have had a drink included. My wife's drink looked like something little kids would play adults with. The food was delicious and the service was great. Apart from these few small things, this place was very charming. After suggesting that a patio in the front is needed and hearing that it's in the works soon, I can't wait to return to Main 101 and eating dinner outside with the city lights outside.
The food was great! I ordered the soup of the day which was a squash soup and Cesar salad. The soup was delicious and creamy. It was a tad bit salty nonetheless tasty. The Cesar salad was good. My friend had the shrimp poboy and it was a fairly large portion, and my sister in law had the shrimp wraps. It was wrapped in a crepe with cabbage and lettuce and it had a nice dressing on it. The service was good started a little slow but they were attentive. The owner/ mgr came to speak with us and it he was very pleasant. All in all, it was a great dining experience. We came for lunch but I know the dinner is also very good.
First time visiting this place. We were seated right away, and our server was quick. He made sure he was thorough with us about what we ordered. Food came out in a timely matter. The food seemed fresh and was at a good temperature. My husband and I ordered from the 3 course menu, which is $31. It isn't a kid friendly page. There isn't a kids' menu or high chairs/ booster seats. Seems more of a place for like couples or business meetings, maybe? There's a large bar area. For my 3 course meal, I had the spinach salad, then the Pan Seared Chicken served with barley risotto and chef veggies, and the cheesecake with caramel sauce. I ordered water. My husband had the House Salad, then Applewood Smoked Salmon served with mustard caper cream and crispy fried potato balls with some kind of spinach salad as well, and molten lava cake with raspberry sauce for dessert. He had Dr. Pepper. For our 3 year old, we ordered the pizza they offer but with only cheese and a Shirley Temple. The food was delicious; price-wise, it is on the higher side. We spent $111 after tip for just us 3. We went @ around 2pm and there were hardly any people, which was nice. The waitstaff was kind, helpful, and accommodating. We will visit again sometime but in the evening(just us 2) to try other dishes and check out the live music they have.
We arrived at the restaurant and ww were immediately seated at the table, the restaurant was not busy about 10 occupied tables about 6 people at the bar and 4 servers plus a woman in sandals and sleeveless blouse serving tables. 5 mins to get our drinks, no biggie right? Almost 20 mins go by and our server never went back to take our order he and the the woman in sandals passed us by several times, until I got frustrated and asked the woman in sandals for the check she didn't even ask if we had been helped at all or why we were leaving, she then tells our server to get our check he brings our check and says he was sorry, not even asked to take our order, the woman didn't even offer to take our order either like wow really? We were dressed in jeans and T shirts, decent like you wouldn't take our order because how we were dressed, mind you the restaurant is nice but the majority of patrons were under dressed. I mean the woman in sandals was not better dressed I guess she is the owner? Either way there was no excuse for them not taking our order. We were respectful until they had us wait almost 20 mins. Never again. Well spend our money elsewhere. This place is not worth it, there are better places than this. I guess they assumed that we couldn't pay for our meal? I've never felt discriminated just because of the way we were dressed!
