We had lunch at Joyful Garden and really enjoyed the experience. The quality of the food was excellent — everything tasted fresh, authentic, and beautifully prepared. We especially appreciated the vegetarian options they offered, which gave us plenty of delicious choices. The menu is very extensive, and at first we found it a bit difficult to decide what to order. However, one of the waiters was incredibly patient and kind, taking the time to explain the dishes and recommend options for us. His help made all the difference, and we truly appreciated the effort. Great food and wonderful service — we would definitely come back!
Best dim sum I’ve had in Boston and it’s in a strip mall
I love the Chrysanthemum Tea! Our group was there for Dim Sum midweek at 12:30. No wait, plenty of open tables. Weekends I am told that it is very busy. The food carts arrived promptly and the food was great. This type of dining is not for picky eaters, but is totally fun for the semi adventurous diners. Everything we had was great!
Hidden gem. The food is all the things you love about Chinese food and missing all the things you don’t like. Food was fresh, not oily, not over sauced, not too salty, and served high quality meats and seafood. Great spot for large groups and has giant TVs on one wall so you can still watch the game from your table. We forgot to take a picture before we started eating. The supreme seafood in XO sauce that our waitress recommended was delish and served on a unique and tasty deep fried mashed potato ring (sounds odd describing it but it was good and had nice presentation). Chicken and asparagus was also delicious.
Had a family dinner with 40 or 50 people and we were served a wonderful meal with many different foods to try from. I tried jellyfish for the first time. It was good!
Excellent dim sum. We had 4 items but very authentic. The crab leg ball was the best. The beef wide rice noodle stir was delicious as well. The bao was good. Overall very good. Many Asians at lunch during the week. Not too crowded.
Got takeout here for the lunar new year and their dim sum is fantastic and everything we hoped for. Fresh real food and the dining room was lovely . Friendly awesome staff !
Awesome! They have everything working very smoothly with appropriate staff levels. The food is always fresh and prepared perfectly. I have been going to this restaurant for many years when it was in Brighton. It was a big transition for them and they pulled it off. The style and flair of the renovation is fantastic. The decore is authentic and makes you feel welcome. I highly recommend Joyful Garden. You will love it!
Boyfriend’s cousin/Auntie from his Chinese side of the family hosted a second ceremony for those who couldn’t make it to their wedding in California. The place was great! The Menu-The food was really WOW. I tried jellyfish, fish soup, fried chicken , seafood bird’s nest , tea, wine , you name it !
A 4.5 ⭐️ on my food rating. Joy Garden is conveniently located inside the Watertown mall, one of the few establishments still open in the mall. Great variety of choices, you can pretty find anything you indulge except for a few things I love, soy milk and BBQ meat bun. Most of the dishes taste authentic and the only reason that it didn’t get a five star is probably for my personally biased choices. Customer service was friendly and quick. Reasonably priced items as well. Definitely recommended to try in Watertown.
Come here for dim sum and you won't be disappointed. Came as a group of twelve on a Sunday, and as soon as we sat down, we were hounded by waiters with food. It helps to have a Chinese speaker in your group, but it's not impossible without one. For the more popular dishes like Shrimp Chang-Fen, there was a bit of a wait, but not too long. Everything was delicious, but I had been craving the Xi Mi Lu (sago dessert), which really hit the spot.
Loved the food carts rolling around with all hot food. Seemed like a local spot for great dimsum I went on a Sunday with friends it was JAMMED! 30 minute wait but inside the mall so had time to run around target. The shumai and shrimp were my favorite. Ate way too much it was delicious and not bad about 25- per person after having about 10-11 dimsum large platters to share.
Dim sum was as good as the best we've had in Boston's Chinatown without the parking hassle. Food was fresh, cart service was a bit friendlier than we are used to, and items were really diverse and hot even though we tried this on a weekday. Standouts for us were the hom sui kok (fried football-shaped glutinous rice stuffed with a little ground pork and shrimp). unlike others we've had these came forward to a plate and we're a bit smaller and had less filling but we're very crispy and chewy and delicious. We also love the egg custard bun which came in a fun cupcake shape and was very filled and creamy. When we saw lots of indications that they make things in-house and enjoyed everything. I think this will be our new regular go to spot for dim sum!
I’m a bit surprised that the reviews for Joyful Garden are only a 4.1. Try the DEEP FRIED TWIN LOBSTER. Mild or spicy. It’s very good. I feel like people don’t know it’s offered on the menu because I can only find it written on the in-house menu when you visit in person (not online menu). The tofu plates I get a lot and are also amazing. My family and I both love this place. The dim sum is so fun and delicious, but the regular dinner menu is amazing too. The service is great and very attentive.
Great dimsum with the classics. The sesame balls and congee definitely stood out. Made-to-order items like the bird's nest noodle dish were good, but a little too oily for my taste. I know this location just started out, but I'm looking forward to more dimsum options like douhua and freshly grilled taro cake. A lot of parking availability in this mall complex. Note: I came on Thanksgiving day during lunch time.
Had my dim sum fix!! Pretty spacious place so tables were well spread out. Clean and had hand sanitizers at every table. The ordering system is pretty good and to the point. They keep a list of what you ordered and cross if off when they deliver. Everything was made to order so came out steaming and fresh. Could eat here every day!! 😋
An excellent experience. For an appetizer I had the spring rolls and the vegetarian duck, which were both cooked very well with the perfect balance of vegetables and seasoning. The tofu in the vegetarian duck was very good although perhaps misleading because it has zero taste of duck, so be sure to keep that in mind. For dinner I tried the bean curd (tofu) in chili sauce and the Buddhist delight pan fried noodles, and both were excellent. Silken tofu is used in the tofu in chili sauce which I thought was interesting, and the ma/la is perfectly balanced. They also add some vegetables with some added green pepper and peas. The Buddhist delight pan fried noodles were also very good, the noodles are a little thinner than what most other restaurants do but still delicious. Comes with properly cooked and well seasoned vegetables like bok choy and carrots, as well as an assortment of mushrooms and firm tofu. Highly recommend. One thing they keep in mind is they do have desserts but they don't list it on their regular menu, so be sure to ask for the dessert menu if you want it.
Ah Xian’s service was excellent. Food was good today. Get ready to wait. They will provide a buzzer. Target is next door - walk around and wait for your table.
Forget about Chinatown. Just come here for great chinese cantonese styled food, ample, free and safe parking, spacious dining hall, friendly staff. Recommend Qui Fei Chicken with ginger dipping sauce, clams with vermicelli in its Shells, lobster with ginger n scallion, braised tofu with vegetables, frog legs with garlic in claypot.
Always a great choice for groups of all sizes with plenty of options to satisfy everyone's tastes. Food is fresh and tasty with generous portions at very reasonable prices. Service is generally friendly and attentive without feeling rushed to turn the table. The mall location with lots of free parking is a nice bonus because you don't have to fight for a spot and/or worry about a meter. Would highly recommend it!
Our go-to place for dim sum. They are still the traditional large room dim sum with pushed carts. The staff is friendly and they will get the dim sum you’re looking for for you. Easy, plentiful parking is a huge plus.
If you are looking for real Chinese food , this your place. The menu is nice balance of what I call American Chinese food and Real Chinese. You have to try the Dim Sum - It is a Chinatown vibe in Watertown. All the food fresh - great place
We’ve lived in the greater Boston area for over a decade, and without question, Joyful Garden is one of the best Chinese restaurants we consistently return to. In fact, today, Lunar Chinese New Year, felt like the perfect time to finally write this review. We came in to celebrate and once again were reminded why this place is so special. The food is outstanding, authentic, flavorful, and with an incredible variety that keeps us coming back year after year. What truly sets Joyful Garden apart, though, is the people. The owner and manager always make us feel like family coming home. The team has clearly worked together for a long time, and that continuity shows in the warm, attentive service. Over the years, we’ve celebrated so many family milestones here, and it has become a meaningful part of our traditions.
I went to Joyful Garden for dim sum with my family and absolutely loved the nostalgic vibe. It’s one of the more popular dim sum spots around the Boston area, and you can really feel why. What stood out the most was the old-school push-cart dim sum service, something you rarely see these days. It honestly brought back memories of having dim sum in Guangdong as a kid. The atmosphere feels very traditional and comforting. The food itself was solid and consistent. Nothing overly fancy, but everything tasted good and well-executed. Portions were reasonable, and prices were fair compared to other dim sum places in the area. Overall a great spot if you’re craving classic Cantonese dim sum with a traditional experience. Definitely recommended, especially if you miss that old-school dim sum culture.
Updating my review: Came back to my favorite Chinese restaurant. We ordered our usuals: West Lake beef soup, bok choy, and Yang Chow fried rice. But this time, we tried the sizzling steak with black pepper sauce. The steak was super tender, but the sauce was bland. We also ordered the double-cooked pork. This was good but not what I expected. It wasn't made of pork belly and scallions. The sauce was bland and it was not spicy and mostly cabbage. The prices had gone up, and the portions seemed smaller, although the service remains good. Joyful Garden Chinese restaurant is indeed joyful! We were seated quickly with a pot of tea. Service was friendly, and food came out rather promptly. We started with West Lake beef soup and it was amazing! Light and delicious, I must say it’s my favorite soup. Then, we shared an order of salt and pepper shrimp and calamari, bok choy, and Yang chow fried rice; everything was delicious! But the highlight was the pan-fried flounder; I just couldn’t get enough of it, just quite pricey for $40.95 market price. Plenty of parking and a much better option than going to Boston. I can’t wait to go back!
Okay okay. The location may be interesting but the food is surely not. Its authentic Chinese food nestled next to the RMV and a few questionable stores. If you enjoy classic chinese dishes and dim sum you will like this place. The food comes out quick, the atmosphere is busy and smells great. 10/10 would come again with some dim sum loving friends.
I visited Joyful Garden for the first time ever on April 6, 2025, and it instantly felt like a place I’d been coming to for years. Located inside the Watertown Mall/Arsenal Yards, this classic Cantonese dim sum spot delivered on every level: warm service, authentic flavors, and a comforting, familiar menu. Everything we ordered was exactly what I hoped for—and perfectly executed. The deep-fried taro dumplings had that beautiful nest-like crunch with a creamy savory filling. The shrimp rice noodle rolls (cheung fun) were soft and delicate, draped in just the right amount of sweet soy sauce. My personal favorite? The fried shrimp and chive dumplings—crisp on the outside, packed with fresh chive and juicy shrimp inside. I also had the steamed shrimp and chive dumplings, and both versions were spot-on. These are the classics I’ve loved my whole life, and Joyful Garden does them right. The restaurant was easy to get to by rideshare, and the drop-off was smooth—even during a busy lunchtime. The dining room is spacious, the dishes arrived hot and fresh, and the prices are very reasonable—especially for lunch. No surprises on the menu, just comfort and quality.
Love Dimsum, Love Joyful garden, they do it right from the taste of the cart service, Waiters and all. Highly recommend if you like Asian cuisine. Easy to park at Best buy and Target lot. Weekends will be a line to be seated, they don't take reservations, but definitely worth the wait.
A traditional dim sum hall where freshly steamed and fried dishes are served directly from carts to your table! The vibe is super lively and interactive, though you’ll need to be firm when declining certain dishes. Everything is of great quality, and it’s best to come with a large group to sample a wide variety of dim sum items.
Nice family-style restaurant with a dim sum menu for lunch and a la carte style dinner. For lunch, they serve dim sum until about 3pm. It’s true that sometimes you have to chase down the dim sum carts as they don’t loop around every table at equal frequency, nevertheless I still highly recommend this place as it is authentic. It reminds me of the dim sum place my family took me to in the Canton region back in the 90s. The service is very warm and everyone working there is just trying to make sure every customer has a good time. Very typical Cantonese style hospitality. It’s true that some of the cart ladies don’t speak English, but you can always just point at the food you want. I like the dishes here as they’re in general tasty, hearty and freshly made, and not salty.
Overall a fantastic first din sum experience! Trying so many dishes delivered quickly and steaming was exactly the kind of experience I was looking for. Everything was delicious, although I will say the jellyfish wasn't quite my cup of tea, but still glad I got to try it. Energetic atmosphere, overall a great dining experience! Definitely recommend.
A solid Cantonese restaurant. They serve dim sum on carts until 3 pm and have a wide selection of dishes. If you don't find anything on the carts, you can also have dim sum made to order. We dined at a weird time (3-4 ish) so we were able to eat both dim sum and dinner dishes. The small selection of dim sum dishes I tried was quite good. It had traditional flavors and a good selection to choose from. Our dinner dishes were good as well. The flavors work very well and are very nostalgic. If you can't choose a dish, I would recommend the pineapple shrimp with walnut. It's a classic and I think Joyful Garden does a good job in execution. Definitely come with a group. There's a lot of space for everyone because it's family style dining. Portions are large and meant for sharing. If you're looking for Canto food near Boston, come here!
Updated Aug 30, 2023 Foods were just ok this time. Dying fish made the atmosphere worse. Hey they still push dim sum carts here! People were so nice. I spoke a little Cantonese and that sealed the deal! Go for SIU Mai and other steam dumplings. Always ask for chilli oil!! La Jiu Yao! Mix it with sweet and sour soy sauce (kinda like Worcestershire sauce) and boom! We were back in Hong Kong again.
Arguably the best dim sum in Boston area. Its wide selection of dishes in carts reminisce the old ways of serving dim sum that are being lost more and more these days. Don’t be shy of calling people in tuxedos for help to order if you get too shy in front of ladies pulling carts, or if you need something quick on the menu.
Stopped over there in large group while visiting Boston for the first time and I didn't know what to expect. The host had prepared the menu and we were sat in group and the food started rolling in. We started with cold meats with the host going to a lot of trouble to explain what was on offer. There was pork, beef and jellyfish. We moved on to a soup. Then fried rice and chicken. Then fish. Then vegetables and tofu. Then lobster. It was an enormous meal in the end. I learnt a lot about Asian cuisine and I appreciated all the amazing food.
Overall a solid Chinese restaurant. We came here for a wedding party and they had set menus. Lots of space for the party, though not in a closed off separate room, so it's not a place to have privacy or quiet. The food was pretty decent if not a bit oily. Service was hit or miss. We ran out of tea frequently and it took a while to get it refilled. Tons of parking available.
Food is great. Service is not that good. We told them multiple times that we no longer need any food, but they keep sending us food even though we didn’t order and they charge it!
Hmm... I was skeptical about Joyful Garden because of the low ratings but I actually enjoyed the dim sum here very much. I had a historical moment at Joyful Garden...it was my first time trying a steamed egg yolk bun and it was delicious! Dim sum is all about variety and being able to eat multiple different dishes and this place definitely has a large variety of dim sum offerings. Having been eating dim sum practically my whole life, I thought there wasn't much left that I wanted to try but Joyful Garden proved me wrong with those buns. My go-to dim sum dishes were all pretty solid: har gow, shu mai, chicken feet, shrimp rice roll, tripe, stomach, fried taro dumpling, and pork spareribs. Joyful Garden also offers short ribs w/black pepper sauce that was a hit with our party. I really have no complaints! Other than they did not bring out that chicken feet soon enough!! But that's just because we were hungry. At the end of our meal we also got this cold coconut milk with tapioca dessert that I do not know the name of. Pretty tasty and refreshing nonetheless. Brunch was delicious and I would definitely make the return trip to this place.
Hidden right under your nose .. a fancy Chinese restaurant across the street from The Residence Inn Marriott, next door to Target. Plenty of free parking, easy to find, able to accommodate: Banquet Rooms, Catering, Cocktail Lounge, etc. On the last day of my business trip, I decided to order steamed ginger & scallions lobster (seasonal rates apply) reasonably priced, fresh, large servings. Service was fast, courteous, and they gave me complimentary egg custard tarts, fresh out of the oven! What’s better than lobster in Boston?
Highly scrumptious and awesome restaurant. The busy and bustling environment of constant food being offered to you for Dimsum is one that needs to be experienced. A huge variety of dishes and yummy treats are good for anyone wanting to have real Chinese food and I would highly recommend this place.
I recently learned that Joyful Garden offers more traditional dim sum menu and wanted to give it a try since it's not far from where I live. We visited in a rainy Friday afternoon and I was surprised it was so busy around 1pm. We didn't have to wait long but wasn't seated right away. It's definitely one of the bigger dining hall dim sum experiences that I've been used to in NYC and here. Even though it's a large area the dim sum cart ladies work fast and made sure to visit us in the corner often. Most of what I got were pretty much what you can find every other dim sum place I was pretty happy they have mango puddings since I normally don't find it in other restaurants. For the food and location definitely a bit more premium but I was happy to find a good dim sum location here and don't have to trek out to Chinatown or Quincy. The parking lot can get very busy but I think a little better on this side vs the Target side.
I recently visited a dimsum restaurant and I must say that it was a must-try for any dimsum lover. I highly recommend making a reservation beforehand, especially during weekends when the wait time can be more than an hour. The best part about this restaurant is the wide variety of dimsum options available. The staff move around with small trolleys carrying a variety of dimsums, congee, and desserts, making it easy for customers to choose what they want with no wait time for dimsum. The portion sizes are also good for a group of 4 to 6. Some of the must-try items at this restaurant include the chives and shrimp dumplings and the oyster and egg tart. I would not really recommend ordering an entrée, as the dimsum options are more than enough. For adventurous eaters, I recommend trying the chicken feet, which were okay but not as good as the ones I had at Hei La Moon. Unfortunately, there are not many vegetarian options available at this restaurant. Overall, if you are a non-vegetarian who loves authentic Chinese food, I highly recommend checking out this restaurant. The wide variety of dimsum options and quick service make it a great dining experience. Just remember to make a reservation beforehand to avoid long wait times.
Solid dim sum banquet hall experience with push-carts serving most of the dim sum classics. Service is fast, so if you know what you want you can get hot food served within 10 mins of getting seated. My personal favorite is the Chiu Chow Fen Guo 潮州粉果
Decent dim sum. Lots of parking and they have wait tags that actually works and alerts you when it’s your turn. They are usually packed during the weekend. We just go do some target shopping while we wait and the wait tags still works.
The food is generally very authentic and good here, the closest to Cantonese dim sum outside of Chinatown and Quincy. We usually do take out here but have dined here for lunch and dinner, mostly positive experiences. The dim sum variety is plentiful and the stir fried noodles are good. The only complaint we have is that the non-dim sum items, like noodles and dishes, can be inconsistent in quality and taste. Our favorites, Singapore noodles and beef chowfun, are usually very good. However, a couple of time, they were mushy and beef was tough. Service is barely OK. Wait staff always seem busy and ignoring customers as they walk by. Might be short staffed at times. Sometimes we share tables to shorten the wait. Overall, we very much enjoy the food and are happy that Joyful is in the area.
I really like their dim sum, where the servers push carts with food around the dining area, and customers and pick any dish they want. Their regular dinner menu is also solid, especially the seafood like jumbo clambs. However, the veggies we had were not very fresh and the poached chicken was just okay. The service can be slow sometime, partly because it's a huge dining area.
It’s been awhile since we last visited. Dim sum tasted as good as we remembered. Everything was steamy hot. Our favorites are the crispy pork chashu buns. This time we have to order them. They were in the push carts. Shrimp dumplings (ha gow), pork and shrimp sui mai were really good! Steamed Bean curds pork rolls came with three in the steamer was delicious too! Chicken feet with black beans and garlic, fried taro dumplings, steamed pork ribs, lotus leaves wrap with sticky rice, fried sesame balls with red bean paste inside, tofu pudding….They were all very good! Except the jelly fish and radish… they tasted from a package. A little mala taste (numbing) seasoning. We didn’t enjoy that! Service was excellent! The waitstaff are always so fast and friendly! Clean restroom and restaurant seems pretty spacious! Get there at 10 am when they open then you won’t have to wait. By 10:30 am it was a full house on a Sat am! Would definitely recommend this restaurant!
Very good Dim Sum, including the Turnip cake, Shrimp, Cheung Fun (sp), and Shu mai. Star was the egg custard tart, oh so good. Finally, the service was very attentive & friendly, even considering some language barriers ( not an issue for me as my family is 1st generation immigrants & most have lovely stong accents). Prices are appropriate to Boston, which is to say high 😆.
Overall, I am satisfied with this restaurant. I have visited several times. While the staff who serve the food may struggle to communicate in English and mostly speak Chinese, the food is generally delicious. The prices are quite reasonable, making it a great place to enjoy a meal comfortably. The restaurant is spacious, so it can be a bit noisy, but that isn't a major issue for me. It would be even better if there were a more convenient way to place orders.
This classic dim sum house/Chinese restaurant in the suburbs (?) checks all the boxes: 12-15 tables of Chinese/asians having dim sum (mid week, which is a pretty good number), rolling carts of dim sum, fish in tanks, reasonable prices. Taste-wise, it was average (Low salt. Yay?), some OK's, some misses. Fried dough in rice noodle (Ok), fried shrimp paste stuffed eggplant (a little greasy), steamed black bean spare ribs (OK, not enough black beans and could have used a but of garlic) and xiao long bao (soup dumplings, taste is spot on; it was from the cart, over-steamed and lost the 'soup' because of disintegrating skin) and sui mai (large and pretty good). Would I come back again? maybe.
I gave it 3 out of 5 stars because what I didn’t like was there is a rude waitress who will judge everyone for who they are, even the fat people will get judged too. Yes she is still working there, she dyed her hair blonde all over. I understand the staff members barely speak English, they understand Chinese, mandarin, and other languages very well. I don’t like being judged, this is why I’ll be ordering takeaway at home from now on.
Honestly the food is not very nice. The har gaw shrimp dumplings are very bland. The shumai was pretty good. Turnip cake is too soft and the glutinous rice is tasteless. The fried beancurd shrimp roll is the best among them. The staff bring dimsum around in a cart but they are very pushy. We havent even taken our seats and they were already asking us to take something from the cart. But on the other hand, it’s definitely fast service because dimsum is already prepared. Not sure if we will be back
Disappointing :/. We live nearby and had been meaning to try this place. We ordered Peking ravioli, double-cooked pork, and Chinese broccoli with black bean sauce to start. After a fairly long wait (not a huge issue for us) we received our dishes. Instead of the Chinese broccoli, we were given two double-cooked porks (not sure why…one person was ordering for the table..why get two of the same entrée?). Before we noticed this, the food runner had vanished. At the time, we overlooked it just assuming we could have the leftovers for lunch the next day and we’d just order more food to have some variety. Well, that seems impossible here. We were totally ghosted for well over 30 minutes (from the time we sat down to the time we left was around 90 minutes). Try as we might, no one from the service team so much as looked at us…even after we set aside dirty dishes/made it clear we need attention (I hate having to wave people down, but I don’t think that would have really worked anyway). We kept trying to make eye contact, but everyone was too busy doing sidework to pay attention. This also involved an army of staff throwing dishes into bus buckets to clear after a large party left, filling the dining room with an unnecessary clatter. It’s important to keep the dining room clean, but it’s also important to tend to seated guests. Our plan had been to order another bottle of wine and at least two more dishes, so something like another $80, because what we did receive was very good. But we cut our losses and just left instead. Part of me would like to give them another chance, but the other part thinks the same thing would happen again. If we had the chance to try a few more things, we could have easily forgiven the oversight, but being ignored just ruins everything.
Me & my family been going to this restaurant often. We always take out for our birthdays. This time I ordered a twin lobster noodle, opened up, find out that it has a few lobster meat, but a bunch of lobster claws instead. My family was really upset, we spent a lot on food, this was not it!!
This place is always packed on the weekends for dim sum and I used to think the food was worth the hour long wait, especially their shrimp rolls and durian puffs (hence not one star). In the recent few visits something had changed and I’m surprised that nobody else complained. If you try to taste for it I’m sure you’ll notice that they decided to sneak in shrimp-sized pieces of pork fat here and there to replace shrimp in almost all the shrimp dishes. The pork grease just ruins it for me. Every other bite is a accidental bite on an awful, pudgy, greasy piece of pork fat with the taste of fat oozing into your entire mouth. I get it, inflation is hard, but this feels like deception.
Food was gross, 40$ for this. Small food portions, only a handful of protein, crab Rangoon’s were not fresh and tasted as if they were microwaved, the food was flavorless and the veggies were mushy from being over cooked. Too many good restaurants around to waste your money here. The only good thing about this place is that it’s pretty inside.
I don't leave any bad reviews. But they didn't want to listen to anyone, and they didn't care. When the tee kettle first arrived, I was surprised. The kettle was so dirty. And the dim sum didn't come no matter how much I waited, and I had to talk several times, and I was very unkind. It wasn't that busy time we had dinner. The some food was also cold. They felt bad for us to come. And it was expensive. It is not recommended to eat dim sum for lunch here.
today i drank the fish boiled soup and while drinking it i found 3 bugs, the first time i found one i told the server and the server just washed my bowl and gave back the same bowl of soups just without the bugs. I took back the bowl of soup and continued drinking just to find another bug in my soup. I wiped it on a napkins and stopped drinking the soup altogether.
The food is good, but I will NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!! Here is why… I placed 2 take out orders and when I got home , they didn’t pack the soup I ordered. I called and told her what happened and asked to credit the cost to my credit card. She said “No, can’t do that.” So the next day I went there to get the soup and 2 appetizers. Where I got home I found the cover to the soup smashed in. I called again. Same answer, come in ! Next day I came in with the smashed soup container cover to show her. I git my soup, 2nd trip there!! After further talk, I asked to speak to the manager. “No. No manager”. She then turned away and ignored me!! NEVER, NEVER WILL I GO THERE AGAIN!
Customers should check the stamps on your check to the numbers of plates on the table. We had more stamps than dishes on the table. We were over charged on serval occasions. Our bill was over $200 but the numbers didn’t add up. We only get takeout now, as we found a fly in our water on our last visit and that was enough.
One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. We ate at Joyful Garden in Watertown and ordered a basic stir-fried vegetable dish. After waiting more than an hour, the food still hadn’t arrived. Throughout the entire time, the servers actively avoided us — every time we tried to ask for an update, they saw us coming and walked away. When we finally caught someone, we were shocked to hear that the dish hadn’t even been cooked yet. Only after we said we were leaving did they rush something out within three minutes — which clearly shows it was thrown together hastily. The dish was watery, flavorless, and completely unsalted, basically inedible. This level of service is unacceptable, and the food quality was just as bad. Strongly NOT recommended. Save your time and money. Avoid this place.
This was one of the worst Chinese restaurant experiences I’ve had in the area. The dim sum was decent, but everything else fell flat. Service was abysmal — the servers were loudly playing cards in the corner and seemed uninterested in assisting diners. We ordered a Diet Coke ($3.50), which was completely flat and tasteless — worse than what you’d get at a fast food place. We also tried to order the classic Chinese tomato and egg dish. Not only did the server struggle to communicate that the dish wasn’t available, but they went ahead and made it anyway — then charged us $20 for a completely underwhelming version. Easily the worst rendition of that dish I’ve had locally. Don’t be misled by the high ratings — I strongly recommend avoiding this place.
