Opinions de Sans Souci Lake George
Visiting for the weekend and found this awesome local spot with really great food and an extensive craft beer menu. Definitely not disappointed to have stopped in! If you are in the Lake George area, getting some food and drinks at Sans Souci is a must and I will be back again whenever I'm in town. Attentive and friendly staff/owners, keep up the good work!
I've really enjoyed the menu that the new chef has put together! There's a good range of standard pub fare like burgers and salads (the grilled caesar is great), but also a bunch of more elevated entree options which are fantastic. Some seasonal stand outs from some dinner's I've had here this season are a really special pumpkin soup, and a massive + delicious pork chop (maybe the best I've had even). There's a good amount of space between tables and plexiglass dividers between them for Covid safety, which is appreciated too. Outdoor porch seating has been nice during warm weather this year too.
"The Sans" as it's known, is a beloved neighborhood joint for locals year-round, and during the summer it welcomes the seasonal visitors. Very fun atmosphere. Everyone says that the food is much better since new ownership took over.
We loved the Sans Souci. The service was outstanding, and the food was terrific.
Great local spot. Our server was very friendly and went out of her way to bring our kid's pizza out first. My wife had one of the specials, which was delicious. The chef, James, came out to check on our meals -- a nice touch. Recommend!
A hidden treasure! Our party of 6 dined at San Souci the last weekend in September. We had the grilled caesar salad, the salmon, burgers, shrimp cocktails and the nachos. Everything was delicious! Our waitress was warm and attentive. James, the chef, came out to check our meals. Great night. We will be back!
I have lived in this community for about 8 years. During that time the Sans has had numerous chefs and several owners. It was a local dive and the food was spotty at best. The new owners (who are a group of locals) have totally turned this place around for the better. The new chef (from Lake Placid) knows how to cook and he's done a great job with the food and the menu. Had pulled pork sliders last night with rosemary french fries. It was off the charts in a good way. Not your typical pub food at all. The bar now has 5 local beers on tap and a long list of micro brews in cans and bottles. My better half had the crab cakes which also were terrific. The bartender (Nick) pours a great and huge Manhattan. With covid on everyones mind, it felt safe inside. They have taken most of the bar chairs out and the tables are spread out. The staff are all masked up and customers were all masked when not dining. This place had a bad rap for years. It deserves another look.
Once again Sans Souci did not disappoint . From soup to nuts this place has it going on . I brought my parents in last night for their first time and they loved everything about it . Their food is not only fantastic but they also have an amazing staff starting with Carl the owner who is always there to greet , bus, deliver drinks and food all with a smile on his face and his quit will make you have a good chuckle every time . Sam the bartender is amazing with a very positive vibe and energy not to mention his awesome radio voice that we love to hear . Jessica was our server and she was beyond attentive and super friendly . It is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant/bar that I am thrilled to have close to our home and we look forward to enjoying their fantastic food and drinks for years to come !! Way to go Sans Souci . 5 ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️all day long !! 🩷
Great salmon meal with friends last night - good service and friendly crowd! They also have a wonderful display of local artists' paintings and photographs from The Lake George Arts Project!
I am a born and raised Lake George native so I’ve always heard about this place growing up but it wasn’t until like 6 months ago that I actually came in. All I can say is, I regret not coming in sooner. The food was very reasonably priced (especially compared to the Village and Bolton), but surpassed them in quality, both in taste and in promptness. The crown jewel was for sure my bartender/server Sam. Even if it was expensive and low quality food, I’d come back just for him. He’s a pro at curating a good time. This place hit the trifecta. Fantastic food, reasonable price, and legendary service (especially with Sam). I am counting down the days until I’m able to return.
Outstanding food and atmosphere. The bar tender was great. We will definitely come back. Highly recommended.
Absolutely fantastic. The pizza and wings were just perfect. The waitress was incredibly friendly. I haven't been there in decades but will go back soon. Went again two nights in a row, it is that good. The wraps are fantastic in particular the bacon cheeseburger wrap and the buffalo chicken wrap. The draft beer selections were great. The owner and the waitress went out of their way to make sure everything was great even though it was very busy.

We knew Sans Souci as a fun place to eat and drink on “the east side” but never visited until recently. We were pleasantly surprised. They were quite busy on a Saturday night with lots of families, but our server was attentive and pleasant. The pizza we ordered was very good, fresh and hot with ample toppings. There were many other dishes on the menu we’d like to check out, so we’ll be returning soon.

Nice time, friendly staff. Food was ok. It has a pub type atmosphere. Nothing spectacular but made for an ok dinner.
I had heard good things but was underwhelmed with my meal. I got a creamy garlic pasta with tomatoes and spinach over linguini you could add chicken or shrimp for extra . I chose shrimp. It was not fresh . It was 5 small precooked chewy pieces with the tails still on and the sauce was not creamy it was watery. I was also disappointed that it came with no garlic toast/ bread.

The newish owners have really changed this place. Fancy food menu replaced the great menu we were used to. Feels stuffy and fake now. Maybe ok for a date night but not the cool, local hangout that it once was.

Recently redone and possibly under new management? If you are renting a house on Sandy Bay this place is the only game around unless you want to drive 20 mins through twisting roads towards town. The prices are a bit steep when you consider the quality of the food you are actually getting. The chicken wings kind of made me feel sick, my family wasn't impressed by the burgers or the salads. Maybe we should have just stuck with the pizzas? Seems like that's a specialty of theirs.
This was our second time here to give it another try since the 1st time was not the best. 1st time: waitress older and seemed like she has been a waitress a long time and was confirmed by owner when he checked on us after our meal. I ordered Prosecco and she brought me a beer mug with the bottle of Prosecco. Let it go since I am not that person to make a stink about the proper glass, but since the owner inquired I was honest about it and showed him, he did apologize and said she should have known better she has been waitressing for over 20 years. Food was ok, atmosphere very outdated which is totally fine since most places that lack on decor bang out fantastic food, but that wasn’t the case, nothing to rave about but since it was the beginning of the season we figured they were working out the kinks. Tried again the other night after a long day on the lake, shrimp cocktail was not cleaned thoroughly, cocktail sauce minimal and very thick, had to use my fork to get a little on the shrimp and not tasty at all. Hubby’s apps were good though, he had the dumplings. After giving our order to the waitress she didn’t write anything down but ok some are really good at memorizing the details, I was a waitress back in the day and I for one always wrote things down. She came back to confirm the order, gave exact order a second time she said ok just confirming, order still came out wrong, let her know, she was going to send it back but I just let it go, I never send food back. However, she never adjusted the bill for items missed. We just wanted to leave so again let it go and paid our bill so we didn’t have to wait any longer. My chicken was very dry, hubby’s beef was bland and so was the au jus. So for over $100 bucks for dinner and one drink each for the 2 of us, when we have had better for less, just not worth it, when food is fantastic we are happy to support and pay good money! Also, couldn't hear our own conversations very loud between music and people talking, only 2 other tables had people, so not crowded at all, seems nothing absorbs the noise and we love music but this was a bit much. We won’t be back for a 3rd time, the Cleverdale country store right down the road, has way better food! Get the blueberry scones- best hubby has had, but also hot foods, fresh made salads are awesome and delicious! Speaking of, need to give them a shout out too!

Wow,, all I can say is the food is not good at all, I've had better food at a ballgame. My child got a 12" pizza,,, I was thinking it would be a fresh hand tossed pie..nope,, it was most likely a frozen red baron pizza, no exaggeration.. it was a $20.00 pie I could of bought at a supermarket in the frozen food aisle for $5.00. I had the chicken parm, no taste chicken with sauce that was bland, (think sauce you get at a high school cafeteria). I should have known walking in the tables and chairs looked like they were purchased from a yard sale. Oh well,, I am scratching this one off the list...never again.
We had the opportunity to try Sans Souci under it's new ownership and wow what an experience. We walked into the dining room and were immediately struck by the minimal use of air conditioning. The hostess told us to seat ourselves. We waited several minutes for menus. When we finally fought our way through the diner inspired menu, we placed our orders. While we waited we were subjected to way too loud 1950''s music which impaired our ability to talk to each other while we perspired. When our entrees arrived, the fiasco continued. I ordered the Lobster roll, which had come with about two tablespoons of finely chopped lobster in a roll who's size overwhelmed the tiny serving of lobster it contained. Next was a burger with swiss cheese that tasted like it was spiced with lighter fluid. Finally, we had a grilled chicken sandwich with sauteed onions. The sandwich was described to me as eating an unseasoned hockey puck. I watched as our guest made several attempts to deconstruct and reconstruct the sandwich. Eventually, she gave up and ate what she could of the bacon and mushrooms. We washed all of this down in our warm, ice-free sodas. The one shining star of the meal were the French fries, which arrived hot, salty and delicious. They were the only satisfying part of the meal. I don't imagine that we will be returning to the Sans Souci. .
