I grew up in Queens where the Chinese food industry is very competitive and Dah Lee is my favorite of them all. Always a quality delivery and dish when I order from them.

My first visit here was on a date, in 1978. That relationship didn't work out, but my love for Dah Lee Restaurant endures! To pick one favorite dish is too difficult. I will say that my son wants General Tso from here and nowhere else. Egg rolls and shrimp rolls are perfect, and their shrimp with broccoli is quite unique on Long Island. Every other restaurant I've been to has had a brown sauce (which is also delicious) for their shrimp with broccoli, but Dah Lee has a different take that no one else has had, in my experience. A must-try!

Had to edit this since my last post. This place has won my trust simply by the fact that there chicken, in the general tso's chicken is actual real white meat chicken. Any other Chinese place I go to has some weird thing going on with there chicken. Other than the wings , the wings are always good.

Just moved out of Manhattan recently. There is a dearth of great Chinese food in the Ronkonkoma area after trying many places. Decided to try Dah Lee after scouring reviews. This place has really great Chinese food. No dine-in due to COVID, so strictly take out. A definite win. Don't let the outside fool you, the holes in the wall usually turn out to be the best spots. My new go-to spot. String beans in garlic sauce and chicken chow mein are really spot on.

This is definitely the best Chinese food restaurant in the area. The shrimp egg rolls are cooked perfectly and not greasy. Any item you order is cooked to perfection and always fresh.

I saw several reviews complain about portion size relative to cost, but I'm glad I ignored them. The food was very good, and more than I needed for one meal. The restaurant itself is small, built into an old house and able to seat maybe forty people. There is a neat little bar, too, if you wanted to grab some quick drinks in a low key environment. Would eat there again.

I lived in the area for 30 years and finally tried this place... What a surprise!! We ate in and the food was amazing, a far cry from all the take out places that disappointed us ovwr the years. Best boneless spareribs I ever had - lean and so tasty!! They do a mean take out biz too. The whole time we ate there, there was a steady flow of orders being picked up. This place reminded us of old fashioned Chinese restaurants when we were kids. I definitely plan to return. Btw, what I liked the most was that they don't just have the typical dishes all the other places have. They have them too, but also have things you don't normally see. Don't be fooled by the cheesy looking exterior, this place is my new favorite Asian restaurant in the area!

I have driven past this restaurant a million times over the many years it has been there! I was a diehard Hoi Ming restaurant fan. I was heartbroken when this fabulous restaurant went out of business. The owner was tired, and ready to retire. I understand that. I just wish the staff would have chipped in and took it over. This restaurant had Chinese food the way I remember it to be...since I went there back in the 60s! I always use Won Ton soup as my test. If their Won Ton soup is good, I am pretty sure the rest of their meals will be to my liking!

We ordered for take out. Gentleman behind counter was waiter. Bartender Order taker Cashier. And did it all with a smile. Great wonton soup delicious. Egg roll hot and crispy. Vegetable fried rice outstanding. General Taos chicken was perfect. Vegetable lo mein outstanding. Boneless spareribs juicy and tasty. Definitely will be back. 5 stars 🌟 My boyfriend was in hospital from a fall all he wanted was Soup from here. Two times this week and he is a happy camper.., and on the road to recovery. Back from Florida August 2023 our first dinner stop was here. Great service , Most delicious food from the nicest people. You won't be sorry, everything is fresh and delicious. Wonton Soup , Eggdrop soup , Crispy Lemon Chicken , Vegetable Moo Shu , Boneless Spare Ribs , and Garlic Broccoli. Delicious and as always hits the spot.

The only place I go for Chinese food There's not a lot to say about this place. It's very spacious inside. Very well maintained. Food is always great. Prices are great. The staff is great. This is just a great place overall for a Chinese restaurant. It feel more like a restaurant than a fast food joint. Great for family gatherings and take out. Returning soon.

I first went here in February 1980. The food was great. I think this place is still owned by the same family and the food is still as good as it was back then.

Dah Lee is very good, another Chinese food gem in Suffolk county, the sweet and sour chicken balls are some of the best I’ve tasted out of all the Chinese restaurants I’ve been too, also love the wonton soup and dumplings, the place itself looks nice too, will come again

This is an old school style restaurant with outdated but 1970s charming decor, (think scarface/disco 1978ish) A full BAR, excellent soup and overall a cool vibe. Like going back in time. I was reading some other reviews who you can easily tell are FAKE trying to hate on the place. Dont listen to them, most everything we have tried is homeabe style and delicious. I am willing to bet the other local chinese takeout is who made the comment. They even put out those old school house fried noodles, not the crap that comes in a plastic bag the house fried wonton strip with homemade duck sauce. This place deserves respect. I am not saying every single thing is amazing but some of the things like the general tso’s adlnd the egg foo young are so good and the details like noodles and the tea and heck the table service are hard to fond elsewhere around here

Sat down to eat and it was amazing. The wonton soup and chicken broth is out of this world with flavor. The service was great with the food coming out fast and delicious. The sesame chicken was one of the best things I’ve eaten from a Chinese take out place. It was perfectly crispy and sweet tender. The other plate was Szechuan chicken and it was absolutely fantastic. I love how much flavor is present in their food. Would absolutely come back to again and again. For sit in and two meals and three eggrolls it was only 31$

A quaint and unremarkable exterior concealing a delicious local gem! I'll be honest, the first time we decided to try this place, we almost didn't go in. It looks like a converted house with the parking lot tucked into the backyard. But once you step inside, you get a quaint little restaurant feeling, like you might have found in a Chinese food place from twenty or thirty years ago. The staff are friendly and quick to get you seated and the restaurant is very clean. The food is where they excel. For a very reasonable price, the portions are impressive and the flavours are delicious! They go beyond the generic menu we associate with Chinese restaurants, offering many unusual and authentic options. The food is fresh and cooked to perfection. All in all, a great experience. I'll definitely be back!

The place is not the cleanest but the food is great. The day I was there only 3 locals we at the bar eating and DRINKING but no one eating in the dining room area. The staff were nice. I would eat there again.

The food is really fresh and def. tasty which is great only downside which is why I gave 4 stars is the price/portion... I never finish a combo plate from the Chinese place I always can split it into two (eat some now...finish the rest later) that being said I finished my combo in one sitting...and relative to how much I usually pay for my order at other Chinese places they are about $2 more then average and again you get less food! So aside from the portions and price increase the food is good and I guess all in all worth it 🤔

Moved out here from Brooklyn and had not been impressed with previous Chinese takeout choices near me. Dah Lee came through big time. I was greeted and taken care of immediately when I came by to order some takeout. The chicken and garlic sauce was delicious, even though it was actually a little sweet. The fries were fresh and crispy. The steamed pork dumplings were juicy from whatever the pork is marinaded in. The fried rice orders were perfectly prepared as well. Good prices for the area. This is my new go to spot for Chinese takeout, and the entire family agrees.

I ordered the chicken curry special with fried rice and ended up getting pork fried rice. I hope they update their online menu so that it lets you know “Fried Rice” means pork. The chicken was good.

Very first time there... Food was good. Terrible service. Only one waiter. Took forever to get food. People who came in after us were served before us. Portions of food was cold. Cant see us going back there!

Sesame scallops were on the soggy side. I heard the place was good but maybe the cook had the day off.

Our first time eating here and we are very disappointed. The food was not bad but the service was awful. There was only one waiter and it was dinner time!! He served two other tables that came in after us before he gave us our food, which came out at all different times. And the appetizer came out last. It took longer to get our food wrapped than it was to eat it. We will not be coming back here.

We had to ask him twice for our drinks and then we had ordered egg rolls and didn't get them. Worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. Ordered dah lee shrimp specials and it came a pot full of tomato juice ( looks like ketchup) and a few small shrimp floating along with onions. Horrible. Wage of time. Waste of money.

website gives you option of pork fried rice, or fried rice. i am a muslim so i cannot eat pork. i selected fried rice and they sent me fried rice WITH pork. they are extremely disrespectful on the phone. and said it was our fault the order was wrong even though the website clearly gives you the option to do rice without pork. (see photo) highly reccomend AVOIDING this place.

Sesame chicken sauce was bitter, fried chicken pieces were barely recognizable as chicken inside the soggy mess of breading. Sauces are offered in those little plastic packets like at storefront Chinese places. I was expecting something more like a regular restaurant. The plain rice was the best part.

11/08/24 I ordered Mixed Vegetables with brown sauce and Vegetable fried rice and the Vegetables they used WAS NOT FRESH IT TASTED LIKE THEY WHERE NOT FRESH THEY TASTED SLIGHTLY ROTTEN I WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN NO THANK YOU 🤢🤮

I’m utterly shocked. The container the food comes in is worth more then the food they send. I ordered two lunch items sweet-and-sour chicken, sauce on side and roast pork both with pork fried rice for both and 1 soup. The sweet-and-sour chicken has nine small pieces of chicken “9” my three year old might be full on this but not me as a grown adult will not be. The roast pork is drowned in some kind of sauce. I’m new here from New York City, it’s my first time ordering. I have never in my life seen roast pork swimming and brown sauce. 🤢 yikes! In each container there’s 3/4 specks on actual pork in the pork fried rice. It has no onion, no vegetables whatsoever. I’m just shocked this is my lunch. There is no food in the food I ordered. $14 for a lot of very unseasoned rice! 🤯 The soup container is not full. I won’t ever be ordering from here again.

I don't know if they have a new chef? Different product Or maybe because I have been ordering right before they were closing but last 3 times the food was horrible. Cheese wontons seemed stale,gross and hard 2 orders for $10 wasted. chicken did not taste fresh, Everyone that ate complained too, so it wasn't just me. Step it up DahLee I'm sure I'm not the only one to notice the change. I'm not ordering from there again any time soon.

If I could give zero I would. Were there to dine in, place is filthy and I should have walked out. I’m shocked how people go here as the food is nasty. Ribs were raw inside and as I took a bite of the pork steamed dumplings, juice spattered everywhere. Just gross guess people haven’t venture out to try other local places. So sad
