Had the privelage of attending a pre opening of Cinnamon Kitchen. Service and food were excellent. This is high class Indian food with presentation key to delivery of a top class menu. We went for Aloo Mattar Tikki Chaat and Sofiana Murg Tikka for starters, plates full of colour and flavour. Main courses of Grilled King Prawns and Tandoori Scottish Venison Rump were equally delightful. All finished with a couple of drinks at the bar, Cinnamon Old Fashioned was really nice. Looking forward to a return visit.
If you're looking for an exceptional Indian dining experience, Cinnamon Kitchen is an absolute must-visit. As someone who knows their Indian food, I can confidently say this is the best Indian restaurant I've been to. The flavors were spot on—each dish balanced to perfection, with the ideal level of spice that brought out the best in every bite. We started with the paneer, butter chicken, pilau rice, and garlic and coriander naan. Each dish was rich, aromatic, and executed brilliantly. The butter chicken was indulgent and creamy, while the paneer was perfectly spiced and cooked. The naan was fresh and warm, a perfect accompaniment to the flavorful curries. What truly elevated the experience was the dessert menu. The Garam Masala Crème Brûlée and Spiced Parkin were brilliant, inventive twists on British classics that hit all the right notes. The crème brûlée had that comforting, velvety smooth texture, with a lovely, subtle spice kick, while the Parkin was beautifully spiced and moist, a perfect end to the meal. The service was attentive, friendly, and the restaurant itself is an absolute treat for the eyes—elegant, modern, and inviting. It’s clear that the team at Cinnamon Kitchen is passionate about delivering both an authentic and contemporary dining experience. So good, in fact, that I've already booked a second visit with a friend! Can’t recommend it enough—Cinnamon Kitchen is a true gem.
Rocky was an excellent host. 10/10 food. Butter chicken and rice was gorg. peshwari nann was mid - deffo frozen. Other than that staff 10/10. Asmita was also great. Really good service.
We had a meal here on Thursday night. The food was excellent, as was the service. Special thanks to Rahul and Amy for looking after us during our meal. Can highly recommend eating here, the restaurant and bar were in beautiful surroundings too. Well worth a visit to them both.
Ate here last night as we were staying at The Queen's Hotel. The food was delicious with a totally unique mix of spice The staff who served us were very friendly and knowledgeable about the cuisine we loved the place highly recommended
We have eaten in a couple of their London restaurants so were excited when we heard there was a branch opening in Leeds. It's not your average Indian restaurant, there are some traditional Indian staples available if you really want but, it's more about Indian flavours and twists on the classics. We dined on a Sunday lunchtime and there is a set lunch menu 2 courses for £19 & 3 for £22 which is amazing value. We opted for a mix from the main menu and the a la carte and everything we ate was delicious. The surroundings are beautiful (located in the Queens hotel) and the staff and service were great. There's no children's menu but the staff recommended suitable dishes and they went down a storm! We'll definitely return.
WOW. Went on 1st table. Food absolutely top dollar. Pork belly to start.Amazing. Then a rogan josh shepherds pie.Well who would ever have thought the combination of mash and rogan josh would ever match??? But WOW WOW WOW.One of the best dishes I have ever tasted.Awesome. We will definitely be back
Delicious food and great location! Staff super friendly, especially Harshada who gave us some great recommendations.
Lily our server was amazing. Completely made our experience here at cinnamon kitchen. The food was spectacular either way but you can’t beat top tier service. The food, the atmosphere, a lovely night that ill 100% be back to enjoy again
Fantastic! The old grand Pacific bar at the grand is unchanged but it is such a beautiful room that it really suits the style. Started with a mountain cocktail with a darjeelin gin, the food was fantastic our only regret was that we didn't order more! Service was really good and really reasonably priced.
Fantastic service! We can for our anniversary and the treatment was brilliant! They provided a free round of drinks and a special desert, and catered for my partners gluten allergy perfectly. Outside of that every other part of the service was top notch, special thank you too Havshada! The food was delicious and as was the wine! Shepards pie was a big winner
An amazing experience on and off the plate! Such a gorgeous venue attached to the Iconic Queens Hotel, the restaurant has beautiful decor and a wonderful friendly atmosphere. The staff were very attentive and knowledgeable about the food and drinks on offer. The selection of cocktails are fascinating all with their own story using spices and ingredients that you wouldn't imagine working together - but they do! The food is just simply divine! All the dishes that I saw being brought out looked incredible, I love the fact the restaurant brings together traditional Indian flavours with locally based produce! The Lamb Rogan Josh Shepards pie was a hit with my mother-in-law! I must give a special mention to the Pork Belly Starter, it melted in the mouth and left us wanting more! Well Done to everyone who has worked hard to get the restaurant up and running, can't wait to go back soon!
Amazing menu with food to match! The starters were divine, it was so nice to have something completely different! Hubby had the Lamb Rogan Josh Shepherds Pie and I had the Old Delhi Butter Chicken for mains. Beautiful! Nice to be served with smiling staff who knew their menu too! Very attentive! Will deffo eat there again!
Cinnamon Kitchen, in the ionic & beautiful Queens Hotel in Leeds, is a top-notch modern Indian spot. Chef Vivek Singh nails it by blending classic Indian flavours with seasonal British ingredients, creating brilliant dishes like their rich Old Delhi Butter Chicken and the clever Lamb Roganjosh Shepherd's Pie. The vibe is gorgeous, like a luxurious old Indian railway which fits well with the historic Queen’s Hotel and the service is super friendly and clued-up. It's perfect for a special meal or just a really good curry with some great, spiced cocktails.
This experience was simply immersive and the most authentic high end indian food i have had. The waiters were extremely kind and proffesional and went the extra mile for me, especially our host abdula, who made the entire experience seamless. I would absolutely come back here again to explore the menu. I loved the creme brulee the most, would reccomend.
Dan was an excellent server for us, recommended great drinks and made us feel at home!
Had an amazing and delicious birthday celebration. After a very long time enjoyed eating Indian food. Harshada was very helpful and professional with the food suggestions. Would like to visit again.
Just popped in to have a glass of wine and something to eat. The fish curry was so delicious - just the right amount of heat and spicy so that I could still taste the fish. I’ll be back the next time I am in Leeds.
The food at Cinnamon Kitchen was excellent. A real twist to traditional Indian cuisine. The service from Dominic and Madhumita was excellent. Will definitely be coming back!
Went for dinner here tonight and it was amazing. Our server lily gave us amazing service and our food was delicious. No complaints a lovely restaurant that I will happily return too again. Top class
Delicious Asian /Yorkshire fusion dishes in a beautiful deco style interior and relaxing atmosphere. Staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive. Definitely will be back.
Had an amazing time, staff are lovely especially aleesha who made my cocktails. The old fashioned was to die for. Definitely worth coming again.
Went here today, and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I had the Hakka paneer stir-fry, and Tellicherry root veggie biryani off the A La Carte menu, and it was delicious! The punchless mocktail is a must try. Service was great too. Would recommend to anyone!
Delicious food and service. The menu was interesting and our waiter helpfully talked us through it. We were delighted with our choices - the fish curry and lamb roganjosh shepherd’s pie were the highlights. Would recommend for anyone looking for South Asian food with a twist.
Visited the cinnamon kitchen for the first time since the refurbishment. It's still the same art deco style, which is great to preserve. We had the set lunch, which is good value at £22 for 3 courses. First, the double cooked pork with curried yoghurt. the pork was more Chinese flavour, but the yoghurt was very nice and spicy. The main was lamb roganjosh, which was a bit average but ok. Kulfi was OK.
This is a fine dining place. The decor is beautiful. The service is thoughtful and caring. The food is an explosion of flavours. Every single item we ordered was delicious except the Lucknowi biriyani which packed salt. But since it s a fine dining place, the portions are tight. The butter chicken came with a tiny portion of rice. We ordered naans and only then was it sufficient. The naans are the tiniest I have seen 🙂 The waitress did recommend that the portions are small and we should go for starters as well to feel full. Since we were celebrating a birthday they gave a complimentary slice of cake. And it was delicious too. So come in to savour some exceptional food. And not necessarily go back full 🤣
Excellent food. Quite a limited menu but that’s good because they can do each dish well. The belly pork was unbelievable. The lamb cutlets were nice but just thin strips of lamb tasted great but thought they might be lamb chops. The chicken curry vindaloo wasn’t spicy at all but was full of flavour. Nan breads were good but not like what you’re used to in Leeds with the elephant ear size ones. Lots more vegetarian options than meat I would say. The setting is wonderful the queens hotel is spectacular looks great, location is great. Staff are excellent and attentive.
Slightly disappointed with the paneer starter, the cheese was a bit white and flabby, but for £11 the size was miniscule. The butter chicken though, with a side of garlic & coriander naan, was fantastic. Just the perfect size, no waste. The ambience of the plane is good and the staff very friendly. Just up the size of the starter and it would be 5*
We visited Cinnamon Kitchen tonight, the lady who served us was lovely, extremely helpful and looked very happy to be doing her job, we never had to wait for anything as she was very observant and was very on ball to accommodate everyone’s needs. So the service was 5 stars. The food was good, not exceptional for the price, the naan’s were too over in my opinion and were much more charred than we would have liked. The paneer butter masala had a great depth of flavour but slightly on the runny side so could have done with being reduced a bit more, same with the butter chicken however that dish slightly lacked flavour. The shrimp starter was lovely though and was cooked perfectly. The interior was very nice and the restaurant itself and the toilets were very clean. One thing that was very disappointing was that they didn’t allow us to box up any food- this wasn’t made clear when ordering quite a lot of food so that really let things down as I don’t know any places at all that don’t allow this nowadays so we unfortunately had to leave around half for our meal as we couldn’t eat anymore as we had ordered starters and when you’re paying £100 for a meal for 2 people, this shouldn’t be a concern. We would have ordered desserts could we have taken some of the main back with us but didn’t want to as we aren’t big on wasting food! Overall, the food was nice but not amazing and most likely won’t be visiting again until they allow food to be taken away as I question how much food is wasted for this reason:(
4 of us came for the bottomless brunch on Saturday, the waitress who served us was wonderful , the starters where very tasty, unfortunately the main course was let down by cold plates which made the rice cold very quickly. Not what we expected in a fine dining restaurant.
So I was very excited to try this place given the credentials of the chef and the fact I'd tried the bazaar in London. I'm afraid to say I was somewhat disappointed. The pork belly starter was nice, but due to slow service, had clearly be sitting for a while when it reached me. The fish curry main was on the bland side, with not a lot of spice and too sweet. Overall an average Indian meal. I expected more.
We had lunch here. The food was absolutely delicious however 5 out of the 6 dishes we ordered were only tepid. My pet hate is tepid food! My daughter’s main arrived hot but by the time my dishes were heated hers was only warm and our naan bread cold! We asked twice for our rice which eventually happened after at least 5 minutes. Disappointing as our lunch could have been so much better.
The food was very nice and plenty of it. We paid for it and asked if we could have the left overs boxed up (take away). There was plenty left and they refused! Very disappointed with the outcome. The staff were pleasant but higher management have said no food is to leave the premises!
The restaurant looks beautiful and the surroundings were great for a special occasion, my husband’s birthday. We were greeted warmly and when we ordered 2 glasses of Prosecco we were told that one would be free as a birthday treat. Our waitress, Swapnali, was friendly and helpful. We shared a starter of beetroot hummus which arrived very promptly and was very tasty. We then had quite a gap before the mains arrived. We ordered tandoori mushrooms and butter paneer but, while they were quite tasty, neither was particularly remarkable and they could have been warmer. The rice was nicely cooked but, again, nothing special. A nice touch at the end of the meal was a complimentary slice of Parkin on a Happy Birthday plate. It wasn’t a poor meal but we had expected better from the high-end named restaurant and you can certainly do better in Leeds at Tharavadu and Aarti for example.
Young lady who served us was really good and attentive . Service was a bit slow considering place was half empty on a Wednesday evening. Not enough waiting staff. Fabulous location, decor and ambiance. We had gone with great expectations. Food was real disappointment. There is not much choice for vegetarian starters and out of three option only two were available. Haka paneer and murg tikka were tasty but lacked presentation and small portion for what you pay. Our main course was a real let down. Lacked flavours and was served lukewarm. They really need to up their game because there are so many other better options at similar or less price point.
Very poor not recommended. Nothing like an Indian restaurant inside. Food average at best. Service wasn’t good either. I had the chicken vindaloo no heat at all in the sauce, very disappointed. I’m not sure what this place is trying to be, we were having 2 curries and the 2 next to us were having afternoon tea and cakes. Weird.
I’ve been visiting this restaurant mainly because it stays open late, and I enjoy having coffee in the hotel lobby. But almost every time I ordered coffee, it was handed to me dripping with the saucer filled with spills. For this reason, I stopped going for long months. I went back this week and unfortunately the same issue happened again, which shows little regard for the customer experience.
The food is sugary sweet, portions extremely tight and the food lacks flavours and aroma. Both the lucknowi biryani and old delhi butter chicken were far from tasting like the originals. The prawn dish was good with south indian flavours. The restaurant is pretty, fine dining as set inside the queens hotel. The service was lovely I wish the flavours were not so mellow.
I was on my way to Bundobust when I spotted this place. I could see a couple of empty tables near the window, overlooking City Square, and there are a couple of vegan options on the menu. However, the main restaurant is in the back with no windows. The decor is fabulous but they sat me at an awkward, uncomfortable table in the corner where I was forced to sit at a 45 degree angle to the table, despite the place being almost empty with loads of other tables available. I asked to move to a better table, no problem. I ordered the root veg biryani and was told that it was a quite dry dish. Since there are no other vegan mains, I didn't have much choice, other than to leave. It was indeed quite a dry dish considering mostly of rice and not very spicy. It came in a red hot dish with no serving spoon so it was quite tricky to get onto my plate. I was underwhelmed tbh and indicated my disappointment to the waitress, who graciously offered me a dessert on the house. So, based on my personal experience: service 5/5, decor 5, comfort 2 (awkward corner seat and no windows), flavour 3, portion size 3, value for money 3. Animal eaters have more menu choices but for a vegan, it'll be back to my usual place in future.
Booked on Sunday through First Table at 5pm we were initially the only people in the restaurant which seemed odd given this is a new opening in a 5 star hotel. I ordered Chettinad shrimps and the other diner order Patjar Ka Gosht. These were very small portions and had little to no spice. Main course we ordered the lamb rogan Josh shepherds pie and the grilled king prawns. Again these portions were particularly small, the shepherds pie came in a dish more fitting for a starter. The king prawns - well there was 4 with literally a handful of rice in a small bowl, this dish was supposed to be £25!!! For 4 prawns! Shocking. We also ordered the chicken biryani to share which wasn’t particularly flavourful and again came in something resemble a cereal bowl. All in all despite the 50% discount we still paid over £75 for 2 people for a meal and a drink each which was in no way worth £150 at full price. Nothing like the restaurant at Battersea which we have been to twice and loved. Very disappointed and definitely won’t be back
Had the high chai minus the chai masala as they didn’t have any.. Overall the food was verging on bland with very little spicing. The potato in the puri wasn’t even seasoned. Not only did they not have any chai, they also didn’t have my second choice of tea so ended up opting for English breakfast which was a twinings teabag
The setting is glorious in the Queens hotel and the waiting staff were attentive, helpful and pleasant. We had high expectations of this new Indian restaurant in Leeds having visited their Devonshire Sq restaurant in London shortly after it opened its doors. The food however was the most disappointing element of our visit. The menu is limited. The food is served on cold plates. The food was tepid at best. The rice was cold. The curry was bland - they serve everything ‘mild’. Sent the rice back and it was returned hot but after we’d finished the somewhat meagre portions of the main courses. A new restaurant with significant competition in close proximity, should be pulling out all the stops to impress. Sadly it didn’t.
Woeful. This is a franchise: it it not owned nor operated by the owners of the original Cinnamon Kitchen / Club in London. Merely acceptable food served in an ear-splittingly loud environment (went on a Saturday night). The bouncer on the door was our first warning of what was to come: this has positioned itself as a lively cocktail bar which just happens to also serve food, with loud house music battering your ear drums throughout. Terrible service: took 1.5 hours to serve us our main course and staff completely absent from the floor for circa 30 minutes. Vacated tables were left uncleared for unacceptable lengths of time. It's not like Leeds is short of great Indian or Pakistani curry restaurants. Just go to one of those, not Cinnamon. An expensive mistake and really disappointing.
Just been with my wife this evening for a meal. The place was freezing cold and had pretty empty. Think 1 other table. The young lady that served us was lovely. But the food for what is supposed to be a high end restaurant , was shockingly bad. The starters I got Pathar ka ghost was bland only nice thing was the coriander chutney and railway bhel papdi was stale and as crispy as a soggy Rice Krispie . The mains I got was a butter chicken and a tandoori mushroom . Mr Vivek Singh this is the worst butter chicken I have ever eaten. You as a Punjabi should know how a butter chicken tastes like, I got 3 pieces of bland chicken in a almost Heinz tomato soup!!!!. A table of 4 came in after us , they had a lucky escape they drank water and left . Honestly this is not worth the money . Overpriced rubbish. The server asked me how my food was I told her, she offered to knock of the food as she could see I had hardly touched it. But I paid in full including the service charge.
Very very disappointed. We visited with a lot of expectations. Starters: chettinad prawn had few pieces of the tiniest prawns ( check the photos) Pathar gost: The only food we liked but portion size was very small. Old Delhi butter chicken- very runny and average in taste. Even pub menus have better butter chicken in some places. Lucknow Biriyani- either change the name of the dish or ask the chef to learn what Lucknow Biriyani actually tastes like. It was tasteless and too salty and after having two spoons we sent it back to the kitchen. Worst Biriyani of my life. Sorry Cinnamon Kitchen, Leeds has several excellent and authentic Indian restaurants and I don’t think we will be visiting your restaurant ever. It was a waste of our money for tasteless food.
I rarely write reviews, especially negative ones, but yesterday night’s experience compels me to share hopefully it helps others. No wonder the restaurant was nearly empty on a Saturday night. The food was extremely basic and didn’t live up to the hype at all. The lamb starter was just about okay, but the rest, like the fish curry was very disappointing. It tasted like plain fish in tomato sauce, lacking depth or authenticity. The Lucknowi biryani was the worst of all, overly salty and completely off. I tried a spoonful and couldn’t eat any more, so I left it untouched. Strangely, no one in the restaurant seemed to care. The server did ask how the food was, and I gave honest feedback, but the kitchen didn’t respond or follow up in any way. We paid the full bill and walked out regretting why we ever came.
