Great food Good prices Lovely quiet atmosphere Definitely recommend the mash was fantastic
Arrived for lunch. Friendly staff we used a groupon voucher. Real value for money. Fabulous service. Great views around us. I had a normal burger n chips and it was superb. I'd defo recommend here.
Great place to chill and relax by the canal. Staff and service are excellent. Good quality of food . Cesar salad tasted fresh and chicken was soft and juicy. Also very dog friendly and offers dog toys and water bowls. Definitely recommend the visit. A bit pricey but £17 for salad , but you get what you payed for . Must try .
Such a fantastic place! I definitely recommend it. The staff is super friendly and helpful and the food..oh boy..hands down! To help you a little bit with what we've been ordering: as a starter we took Carnivore, basically a chopping full of different types of meat (bresaola is amazing) then Rodeo burgers with spiced chips, a total hit and our friends had some chicken and a wrap as a starters. As you can see the portions are...well big!:)) but it's food so we don't complain and the prices? Affordable. :) as drinks I am the cocktail lover, so the rest had beer. I had a classic Mojito a bit to strong if you ask me, but that is totally up to you and your taste. I hope this review will help a lot of people! 🤗
Nice relaxing vibe by the Leeds Liverpool canal, 5 minutes walk from the train station. Helpful and polite staff, food was nice, little bit pricey. Worth a visit.
The Lock boasts of a wonderful ambience, delicious meals and excellent customer service.
Wondered down here expecting to go in one of the bars I've been in before but then come across the Lock and it's beautiful, all tables and chairs outside in the sun, the bar team were straight out to us with menu's took our order and brought straight away lovely and polite. At one point I was really hot in the 28 degrees and as a long shot I asked one of the two lovely female members of the team if they had a spare hair bobble or scrunchie for my hair and straight away one of them took one out of her hair and gave it to me! Have not eaten yet but expect we will because it looks gorgeous and well priced too, we'll be back 😊🌞😎❤
We had a wonderful time!! After lockdown we met with friends, this was our first real get together and it was great! we didn't feel in anyway uncomfortable, the bar itself was airy and customers were not on top of each other! I would definitely return. The decor was lovely, loos clean and the staff attentive!
Angie in the Lock bar was an exceptional hostess. Very kind and accommodating really looked after us. Louise and Tina
Beautiful family meal before we headed off to the little mix concert. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The food is delicious! I would highly recommend their burgers and the Bakewell tart was spot on My daughters requested pasta with tomato sauce. Despite this not being on the menu the chief rustled up a tasty pasta dish that my children thoroughly enjoyed. I'm looking forward to booking another meal to try out the Sunday roast.
Always a chilled experience, obviously we avoid on a warm weekend when everyone flocks to the waterfront. But the staff are lovely, the food is nice, you don't feel rushed at all, it's always clean, tidy and well run. We've tried various bars in the area and keep coming back to here.
My family and I had a good time at this lovely restaurant. Food was fantastic, everyone including my toddler enjoyed it! Franky and the rest of the team were very attentive to our needs. Will definitely be back when we visit Leeds again!
Went for lunch and had a fantastic Asian Poke Bowl. One person with us had allergies and the attention to detail over that was perfect - very impressive! Great location too, right by the canal. Definitely worth a visit
Cake, coffee and a birthday Prosecco was lovely. Lucy our server was spot on, attentive and knowledgeable. Lovely setting right on the canal. Looking forward to breakfast in the morning!
Excellent place to sit by the canal. Only came for a few drinks but would just like to say that it had a great atmosphere from the get go. Also the hand soap smelt amazing! My favourite part of the experience was the service from a lady named Rachel. She was very attentive when needed and also remembered what we were drinking which although a small detail makes the service feel very personal. I would also like to add that her bubbly personality really shines through her service and is a great asset to the team.
Amazing place to eat or to have a drink. We had an evening meal & although booked a table we were hungry quite earlier so asked if we bring our booking forward, it was not a problem & was seated straight away. Our waitress was lovely & the speed of the food arriving was very quick The quality & the quantity of the food was very good. It was tasty & to be honest we struggled to finish it all. Great views of the canal & the surrounding buildings. Will definitely dine here again or just have drinks.
Nice place for a meal. Attached to the Hilton Hotel. Pleasant surroundings. Decent outside area with dining pods. Good service and friendly staff. Food was well cooked and presented. Prices are reasonable for a centrally located hotel restaurant. I would eat here again.
I have stayed here many times at the Doubletree and the breakfast service here is sensational. Really good choice of foods from cereals, fruits and of course an English Breakfast. The buffet style really gave me great choice to pick things I like to eat and staff helped accordingly. This is rather pricey for my liking, but I appreciate for a restaurant which is directly alongside a Hotel its acceptable.
Love the place for a spot of afternoon drinking on a summers day. Even though it was busy we were seated promptly out on the terrace and our drinks order was taken and served quickly too. Brought some friends for their first time and they would definitely return.
We took my Mum n Dad here today as we had a groupon for 4 people. The staff are great and our waitress was awesome. She made our day taking time to chat with us, nothing was too much trouble and she was really genuinely pleased with her tip - which she thoroughly earned. The food is very nice and is essentially we had a Sunday lunch sharing platter. The house wine is lovely, we had a red and rose. We think the rose just wins out. We particularly liked being asked how we wanted the beef, so the lunch was just to our liking. Roast potatoes phenomenal, carrot and swede mash lovely and fresh, chicken, beef and pork cooked well and flavoursome and the addition of broccoli and individual extra pans of gravy was very welcome. The setting is nice and I'm sure on a less grey day this place can't get enough seats outside, but today we were happy with a table indoors with a view of the canal. Dessert of lemon and lime tart were practically inhaled by my parents and coffees ( Irish and latte) finished the meal off perfectly. We weren't rushed through, despite an event taking place and we've come away feeling like we've had a nice relaxing Sunday lunch with family. What better way to spend a few hours on the weekend. Thank you Hilton and Groupon.
A Bank Holiday / Pre-Birthday meal with my family and I got to choose where to go. So I picked the lock (if you’ll pardon my pun) and I thought this was fantastic. The Lock is located at The Double Tree by Hilton in Leeds City centre. If you’re visiting Leeds and want somewhere to stay, I would recommend the Hilton, it’s very close to the train station and has a lot of great restaurants around the area. Plus it’s a short walk into the city centre. So I went with my family to have lunch at The Lock and this was a wonderful experience. It was pretty busy, as there was a football match on and of course, it was a bank holiday too. The service was absolutely fantastic. The food was absolutely amazing. My mum and dad ordered the Cheeseburger, without Bacon (as they don’t eat bacon) there was no issue with that at all and the burgers were a really good size and looked amazing and they both said they really enjoyed them, and they were delicious and very filling. My other half and I shared some Mozzarella flatbread and we both had Caesar Salads. She had hers with chicken, I had mine with Halloumi. The food was really well prepared and presented well and it was all really delicious, very filling and really enjoyable. We also treated ourselves to some delicious (non alcoholic) cocktails and had a lovely meal together and a great time. All the staff were really kind, very welcoming, friendly and professional. This was a fantastic experience and we all enjoyed it. I will definitely be going back there again and I can absolutely recommend this place too.
Afternoon tea was excellent. Cocktails well made. Great views from the balcony. Service slightly slow.
Really enjoyable to be sat by the canal on a bright sunny day. They have black sheep on tap which definitely deserves a bonus point. Fish and chips was nice, the batter could have been crispier and the portion of fish a bit bigger, it came with a huge portion of thick cut chips which were very nice with the mushy peas and tartare sauce. I will be going again on a bright sunny day, food ok but the ambiance is great. Service was good considering the times that we are in.
Food was good from a business hotel perspective. However would like to have more variety in breakfast definitely as it starts feeling boring after couple of days. Dinner options can be also increased especially from vegetarian perspective.
Friendly helpful staff. Clean toilets, nice selection of beers.
Stopped here for a meal with my wife and some friends. Location is really good and staff were friendly however they had run out of a couple of the meals which disappointed us slightly. My 2nd choice of steak was fantastic!
I enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and the hot chocolate was top notch, compared to the places I’ve tried it thus far in Leeds.
The Lock Kitchen & Bar, located at Granary Wharf, Leeds, LS1 4BR, is a waterfront dining venue within the DoubleTree by Hilton Leeds. It offers a diverse menu featuring dishes like calamari, beef short rib, and tagliatelle pomodoro. Open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, it provides both indoor and outdoor seating with canal views. As of November 2024, it operates as a cashless venue, accepting only card or contactless payments.
Lovely place, food beautiful just not enough unless you go for the burgers or steak. The salmon & chicken are delicious but still hungry as there isn't enough vegetables. The dauphinoise potatoes were tasty but didn't have them layered up they was only was one, so very disappointed 😔 it's a shame as I've got to have a gluten free diet too so not much to choice from
Went here using a groupon. The staff were very friendly the location is nice by the canal basin. A bit pricey but probably to be expected. Not that impressed with the starter however the mains were very nice and the triple cooked chips with the steak were fabulous. Definitely worth a visit
Most of the food is very good but that doesn't include the pizza! Service could be better as once you get your first drink, you can almost forget about someone checking on you for at least 30 minutes! I could understand this if they were super busy but they are standing around chitter chatting instead of checking on customer's
In fairness I only visited here as I was staying at the hotel on business and couldn't be bothered to look elsewhere. That said, I was impressed with the food and the attentiveness of the waiting staff. I was here on valentines evening so it was a busy time but I was still treated with the same level of hospitality as all the romantics that surrounded me. I only saw the hotel and it's restaurant at night but it seemed to be in a great location directly next to the canal. I hope I revisit here again and spend some more time getting to know the place.
I went for coffees and light snacks after meetings and had an excellent server called Andrew. The location was wonderful and enjoyed the experience.
The atmosphere was ok, the service not good, the food average. I believe the service left a lot to be desired. Female server was great, delightful smiley and quick. The gentlemen who served us, rude & dismissive, one laughing at myself when I mis-phrased something much to my partners dismay. The pizzas were ok, definetly not special, nachos were great, chips average. Overall the place was good but nothing to write home about. If the service improved it would be much more of a delightful place to sit, enjoy the canal.
We booked the dome for two. The atmosphere is really nice and it’s a nice private booth. We ordered food and drinks food came fast drinks shortly after. After we received our drinks the waitress immediately tried to charge us after we had already paid a deposit. Like let us finish our food first at least, like every bar/restaurant does in the world and it seemed like we were rushed, it constantly felt like “the next booking” was the main priority.
This is the general meet, greet and eat area of the DoubleTree hotel Leeds. It is very sociable and light hearted environment. Food choice understandably limited, if you like salad try the Super food salad. You can add chicken or beef as an extra. Staff are fun and efficient although at times it can be busy.
In a silent Thursday evening, while there were less customers than staff, it took longer than 10-15 mins to serve a 1.5x priced beer. It looks like they try to help us to see how efficient self service is. It is located in a cosy, silent place near the canal. But luckily, it isn't the only place there. You can go to the other side of the canal in a few minutes for better service and prices.
Food was delicious, great spot and close to the river. Service was really slow though, and we were really surprised when the team had to look for a table for us as it was so quiet. Took a while for the servers to come and take our orders too and we just felt a bit disappointed as it was really hard to get anyone’s attention.
Hmmm. Well, I like the fact that it is part of the hotel, and the hotel is awesome. It's clean and tidy and nice to hang out at. However.. There is something weird going on with the staff. They have drinks and food menus by the door when you go in. So the natural thing is to pick one of each up as you enter to have a look through. But then as soon as you sit down staff members are swooping in on you asking what you want before you know yourself. I mean it is nice to have prompt service, but it can be too much. Then.. as soon as you order, they take away the menus. So then I have to go get them again and they ask if I am okay as I go to the door. Yes, I am perfectly fine thanks, I just want to look at the menu! Next.. the wine is extremely expensive, and nothing to write home about. I understand it is a premium hotel bar, but just saying. Probably I would let it pass, but they pour this expensive wine in really small glasses. It feels more like you are in the bar on the Dover to Calais ferry rather than a swanky posh lounge. One time I did manage to have a slightly larger glass, but then they tried to take it away from me when I went for a second drink. I asked if they had another glass which seemed to confuse them. They made some joke about me wanting the "big dog", lol. No, I simply would like a glass that is appropriate for a nice glass of red wine🍷 It doesn't take much.. everybody knows that. And next, as other people have mentioned, what the heck is up with the pay as you go. This is a high class hotel. Why are you making people pay every round. It makes them look bad and brings down the tone. At the end of the day I wish I could give them a higher review. There is so much potential here, but it is let down by poor management decisions I think. It would be nice if they put some heaters outside as well with blankets. The Double Tree bar in Amsterdam has those. It is awesome. I guess it is what it is, and I will surely be back. But... Just saying.
Was told last orders were done yet other tables continued to be served for up to an hour later by the brunette, curly haired manager lady. Very unprofessional and very judgmental. Do not visit unless you are ok with being criticised and refused orders if management have a problem with how you look
Great food Unfortunately the service is a bit of a let down. More paying attention to your guests and less chatting to your colleague while rehearsing a dance routine and we maybe wouldn't have asked for the service charge to be taken off the bill
Typical hotel buffet for breakfast. Everything over cooked. Hard sausages, dried out bacon, solid eggs. greasy little hash browns. Fresh fruit and breads all good though. Real missed opportunity for better food. Would not return or recommend. Receptionist in hotel very nice and helpful on the upside. Sky bar staff also very helpful and friendly.
Popped in for a bite as I was staying in the nearby hotel... and found it wanting. There appeared no meet n greet, no instructions mentioning what to do. I found a wandering waiter who showed me to a table then left me with a menu but no further details, so was unsure if I needed to order at the bar. I ended up flagging down a passing waitress who told me someone would be over. Later, someone *did* come over - that same waitress. The place isn't what you'd call tranquil: they had music playing but at a high volume, making people speaking up to hold conversations so the whole place felt a bit loud and not something you could relax in, but there was some respite later when the music stopped to show the football match on the large screens I had a pie which came served in a metal tray with gravy in a pot and salad to the side. I found the pie a bit overdone, the crust hard and dry, but the gravy managed to dampen it down a bit. I ordered a second beer with the meal but this took a good 15 mins to appear. During the wait I observed staff going about their tasks, washing glasses and stacking plates whilst people stood at the bar waiting - it was as though serving customers wasn't as important as getting through the backlog of work accumulating. Given my experiences of how I was served and acknowledged as a diner, I didn't think the service was much, and won't bother returning here.
Slow service and although we were there early, they had apparently already ran out of the food we were looking to order. We had to pay straight after everything we ordered, which seemed counter productive when we were planning to order more. Considering the cost of the food and the standard of the restaurant, the level of service was not reflected so would unlikely return.
Buffalo chicken wings were some of the poorest quality I’ve ever eaten. Small, dry and 3 out of the 5 had broken bones. Clearly frozen. Very poor for £10. Barmaid was very friendly and accommodating but the waiter in the black shirt this evening not so much. Putting aside the low quality of food produce, I wouldn’t eat here again due to the quality of service.
TL;DR: Constant disruptions for pay as you go ruined the atmosphere. The staff work hard, are friendly and the food is good. However, they immediately charged at the table with a card machine after each individual item was ordered. "Pay as you go", it was called. The disruptions made me lose my train of thought multiple times during conversations with friends, which was exhausting so kind of ruined the atmosphere for me. I appreciate this 'pay as you go' may be to avoid dine and dash, and to speed things up, so can I offer a suggestion that would achieve the same goal without disrupting my experience?: You could offer to open a tab and place my card behind the bar. You can then charge the card and hand it back at the end. For extra peace of mind, you could to an active card check or even pre-authorise the card for £100 to show I'm good for the money, like the petrol stations do. Failing that, please let me pay at the end please like everyone else does. I trust this constructive feedback will be taken in the spirit it is intended. Thank you.
We ordered pizzas so I can't comment on the other items on the menu but the pizza was, put simply - frozen pizza from a box. And that for £15... It's just a bit ridiculous. Otherwise wine was okay and service was good too. The atmosphere is really nice, especially if you're seated next to the windows overlooking the canal.
Spent £80 on 4 glasses of wine, going from one to the next trying to find something that didn’t taste vile. A review of your wines is needed!! Shocking quality. Nice view. We decided to order some food to cheer us up, the nibbles were just as poor as the vino. AVOID
I’ve dined here on numerous occasions and the food is always very nice. I was somewhat offended when the waiter informed my friend we had to pay upfront after we had ordered. Now, had this episode happened whilst I was at my table and not in the bathroom I would have paid for the beers and left! My friend paid upfront. To be accused and tarred with the same brush as others is insulting and I will not be returning.
Absolutely horrendous, ordered the pulled pork and it was still frozen in the middle, 6 members of staff behind the bar stood doing nothing, no one came over to see if everything is ok, not even an apology when informed them of the issues. The worst place I’ve ever attempted to eat at.
