Really good experience , varied menu , wide choice of food available, excellent drinks. We enjoyed our food and the service was excellent. Large comfortable restaurant with great views outside . A great experience and would highly recommend eating here. It's situated inside a hotel so rooms are available , lovely heated patio area which was very busy on an extremely cold January day. Large bar area as well as the restaurant which was very lively and welcoming. Staff were excellent, very good service, friendly and welcoming.
Loved it, just called in by chance. The food, it was Sunday, so rude not to have a roast. The Beef was cooked to perfection, with a nice pinkish centre, the Large Yorkshire puddings were as good as my wifes, which are the best, sorry Chef, but she feeds me more than you and I value my life. The vegetables were cooked by an expert who knows that the should be crisp, yet slightly crunchy, but cooked all the way through. I could carry on writing for pages about the Cauliflower cheese, the gravy, the roast potatoes and the dessert, but I won't, I'll just say go, you won't regret it. We didn't!
Sunday lunch. We booked a table in the restaurant for party of four adults. which I would highly recommend. The restaurant is absolutely stunning with a warm welcome and a warm buzzing atmosphere. The waiters were very friendly smiley happy and very knowledgeable with regard to the menu and the drinks. The food came out , it was absolutely delicious. The beef was cooked to perfection! The pork had proper cracking and tasted great! We did have to ask for extra gravy (Note to many restaurants- Great deep Yorkshire Puddings need to be filled with gravy :-))) which came seamlessly. All in all a beautiful Sunday lunch excellent beer menu and service second to none. We would highly recommend and we'd definitely return!
Great restaurant with amazing food and service, if ur hungry u definitely should order a roast on Sunday! An unforgettable experience, cheers!
Always worth a pint as this place is amazing. Very friendly staff and packed with customers so a great festive atmosphere. Not many places left where you can get hand pulled Tetley bitter. The beer prices are very reasonable.
Absolutely brilliant on all counts. Great gasto-pub. Love the theme, the atmosphere. Great location, the seating outside is perfect. We had two dogs with us and they're more than welcome outside. Umbrellas and good heaters to keep you warm when the weather is a little less than ideal. All the staff were super friendly and helpful and the food was brilliant! We ended up eating at The Fat Badger in York as well 2 days later because we loved it so much. Both locations were equally as good! When we're next in the area we'll definitely eat here. Thoroughly recommend. Even parking on site! (Although a little more expensive than in town, but for the convenience totally worth it! )
The Fat Badger is a must when visiting Harrogate. Great range of beers, nice food and the staff are very welcoming. At the very least, pop in for a pint. You won’t regret it.
Superb. A great on the spur of the moment choice. Everything was spot on. Will definitely do this again.
Beautiful meal, great wine recommend by the waiter. Highly recommend restaurant.
A great find. A lovely old bar style in a grand building in the heart of Harrogate. We popped in en route to York and just wanted a quick sandwich. We chose just a cheese and chutney sandwich, thinking it was just going to be basic and something to fill a gap. However, it came in a beautiful, warm crusty bread. The sweet onion chutney was wonderful and this was accompanied by a nice, leafy salad in a pleasant dressing and some crisps. We really enjoyed it. I must say, the main meals looked a bit pricey, but we were OK with the sandwich price, just under £9, if I remember correctly. No worries with beers and lagers, a good selection. I chose Black Sheep beer, which went well with the sandwich. The staff were pleasant and helpful. There is a parking charge of £1.50 per hour at the covered car park adjacent. You can pay outside or inside the pub. We'll certainly be popping in when we are in Harrogate again.
We had a really nice Sunday lunch here. The Sunday set menu offers great value for money. The roast beef was good and came with the biggest Yorkshire pudding I've ever seen. There's some vegetarian opinions on the menu. It's well worth getting the side portion of Cauliflower and cheese sauce. They had a good range of local beers on offer. It is accessible to wheelchair users, but it's very tight to get up the ramp to the side of the main entrance.
Me and my friends came here for dinner last night for my birthday and I cannot thank them enough for the amazing service! The food was so good! I had the classic cheese burger and it was incredible! The staff gave me a birthday card and a complimentary brownie, gorgeous! They reserved us an igloo in the secret garden as our table was booked after us which was really thoughtful. All in all it was a lovely experience and Thankyou so much to the team for making it special!
Didn't eat, stopped by when it was raining to drink a tasty coffee and soak up the ambience. Found a lovely place to eat, plenty of room, really well appointed, great people, food looked lovely too. Comfy and a great place to stop by in Harrogate.
Oddly not in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide nor hosting a Cask Marque but a superb selection of 10 real ales. ( Follow The Great British Pub Crawl on YouTube for pub tips when visiting anywhere new to you. ) Casta saw that Tetley's bitter was on sale. Joshua Tetley's Leeds brewery closed a long time ago but whoever brews this is still doing a good job. A very upmarket pub with a super beer patio wrapping round the the front and side.
Service by Michal was excellent! He squeezed us in without a booking and they delivered on service and food - impeccable xx Best Apple and Blackcurrant crumble EVER!
We really enjoyed our Sunday dinner at the fat Badger. I had the roast chicken and it was very succulent and tasty. The presentation was nice too. Portion size is very generous, I shared my 2 courses with my daughter and we were both very full from it. Atmosphere is nice and has a warm cosy feel which is perfect during November. Will definitely return for more!
Fantastic dining experience, I had the 8hr slow cooked ox cheek and it was superb
Excellent Yorkshire Blond pint and decent pub grub sat outside dogs only allowed outside. They provide water and cushions for dogs.. Fast and friendly service.
Esther was amazing and always smiling! Gave us the best pints I’ve ever had
Great Sunday roast and desert. Very good waiting staff and beverage option also. The view from the restaurant is lovely and it’s very well located
Love the scampi in mustard sauce. We arrived around 1pm and theres plenty of tables. The steak is really tender and the atmosphere is pretty chilled and relaxed. Definitely would come again for special occasions.
If you're visiting Herrogate I would say this is a must see place to see and try. The Scotch Egg was great. I tried several different dishes however the ox Sheppard pie was the best. I also loved Sticky Toffee here.
We stopped off at the Fat Badger on our way back to the hotel and we were so glad we did. It was a large room, very busy,it was Xmas, a few seats available, great choice of drinks but the atmosphere was amazing. There was plenty of staff to serve us and we found a table.People were eating in separate restaurants but this was the bar with an overflow down into the corridor and an outside terrace.Wooden panelling around the walls and badgers looking down on us,some with Santa hats on.It made for a very cosy afternoon,as we left the Badger the Xmas lights were on with views over the park .Great location, must do it again.
Lovely spot to sit out in the sun (sun at last) with friends and little doggy. Pint of beer from Kirkstall Brewery was spot on. We had a delicious Fish Butty with a side of chups. The Butty was pretty big!!
Fantastic service all the way, fantastic roast dinner and atmosphere! A place you definitely cannot miss!
Great experience at the Fat Badger, Staff were excellent and couldn’t have been more friendly and attentive! Mussels for starter and burger for main course! Both were faultless and mussels were very fresh and tasty! We also stayed in the rooms above which were full of all the amenities needed for a short break.
Loved it. Great food. Great beer. Lamb tagine was superb. Great selection of ales. Lovely decor. Highly recommended.
I booked an evening here as a birthday treat and I was not disappointed. It was our first visit but we took full advantage of the excellent menu and wine choices. The food was superb - not a single critical comment in our group of 4 - and the staff were lovely and welcoming and very attentive without having to hover around or constantly interrupt us. It was a very busy night, but service was smooth and professional.
Great food, great staff. We had a beautiful meal at the Fat Badger. Our evening started with a drink at the bar; very busy as this was a Friday night, but the bar staff were really efficient and we didn't have to wait for long to be served despite the crowds. A shout out to Esther who was so pleasant and welcoming and suggested some white wines for us. She also provided directions for where to go for our meal. We sat in the side dining room which was busy but was quiet (not too quiet) but still a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately I did not get the name of our waiter who was just excellent (I think he may have been French?) Delicious chowder soup to start with and we opted for the duck (cooked to perfection) and Risotto (a starter which came as a main). The wine was beautiful as well, and while we didn't opt for dessert (despite them looking gorgeous!) we did have a lovely coffee and liqueur to finish. We headed back to the bar after which was even busier and we were served by Esther again, who asked how our meal was. A pleasant surprise that she remembered us as the bar was standing room only at this stage! We managed to find a table in the corridor outside the bar which was also very busy and still had a great atmosphere. I would definitely recommend Fat Badger for the food, atmosphere, ambience and service - top notch
Gorgeous pub, was ideal as very close to our hotel, beautifully decorated with lights at Christmas time, dog friendly although only outside and in one section inside, not the main part of the pub inside. Still very nice. Would return.
Firstly I have a service dog and when we visit restaurants or pubs, we are stuck away from the restaurant but here we were seated within the main restaurant which made it more Special and a treat to be served in the main restaurant. The food was amazing, my starter was muscles, they were the biggest ones I’ve ever had. The rest of our food was fantastic and the atmosphere was great. The serviced amazing would recommend and go back again.
If you’re on the hunt for a Sunday roast that’ll make your taste buds dance, look no further than The Fat Badger! This cozy spot has mastered the art of the perfect Sunday feast, and every visit feels like a warm hug from an old friend. The moment you walk in, the inviting atmosphere wraps around you like a comforting blanket. The wooden decor and friendly staff set the stage for a memorable dining experience. But let’s get to the star of the show—the roast! The Fat Badger serves up a Sunday roast that’s nothing short of legendary. Picture perfectly cooked meats, whether it’s a succulent roast beef, tender lamb, or juicy chicken, all seasoned to perfection. The portions are generous, ensuring you leave feeling satisfied but not overstuffed. And those Yorkshire puddings? They are fluffy masterpieces that deserve a standing ovation! The sides are equally impressive. The roasted vegetables are caramelized to perfection, and the creamy mashed potatoes are so good, they might just be the reason you come back week after week. The rich gravy is the cherry on top, bringing everything together in a savory embrace. What truly elevates the experience is the attention to detail. The staff are attentive without being intrusive, making sure your glass is never empty and that you have everything you need to enjoy your meal. And if you have room for dessert (which you absolutely should), the selection is delightful and the perfect way to round off your feast. In a nutshell, The Fat Badger offers a Sunday roast experience that’s hard to beat. It’s a celebration of comfort food in a welcoming environment, and I can’t recommend it enough. Grab your friends or family, and make your way there—you won’t regret it!
I have been visiting the Fat Badger for a few years now and the food and service keeps getting better and better! Lois and Kallum did a splendid job of keeping us with full glasses and great food. One of the bar managers even comes from our hometown of Greensboro, NC. What a small world. We look forward to our next visit.
Thank you so much for fitting us in last minute after our bad experience over the road! Michal was a wonderful host and so accommodating- what an attribute to your team! Wonderful food and a great night saved by you guys! Thank you again!
What a fabulous place . The food was to die for . Five of us and not a thing left on any plate . The staff were just the best , service was great and efficient all with a smile , nothing was too much trouble. Well worth a visit. We will certainly be back
This pub was great. Our large party of 8 was seated right away. The buttermilk chicken was good. I wasn't expecting it to be chicken tenders I thought it was going to be a larger piece of chicken, so keep that in mind if you order. The burger was also really good! The portions were reasonable and the food came out fairly quickly with how busy it was. I would recommend this place for a bite to eat and a beer.
Went for sunday roast dinner cooked perfect also had cauliflour cheese perfect folowed by sticky toffee pudding and iceream the icecream not to sweet
This is a go to place for me in Harrogate, great setting, lovely atmosphere, food & a wide variety of drink. A special bonus is the outside area with its all tear around heaters & blankets provided. Every staff member I've had contact with has been super friendly & welcoming. My dog loves to go & chill with me on the outside area & has always been made a fuss of.
Nice change of menu since my last visit. Starter was nice. The lamb main had good flavors. Will definitely be coming back. Keep improving.
Really spacious and well situated pub. Large bar area which was busy, casual and vibrant. Moved on into the pleasing aesthetic of the restaurant which was modern and classy but still you felt comfortable enough to be casual. Great classic British food menu with some continental dishes thrown in which made the menu more exciting and caters to everybody, generous portion sizes complimented the fresh and well presented dishes. We stuck to the Sunday roast menu which had a nice variety of options and at a very good set course price. The staff were attentive, professional and friendly without being pushy. I would definitely go back if in the area and I would highly recommend.
I've been looking for a great burger and was told to try this place. Sadly another sauceless burger with melted cheese. The raw onion (perhaps fried would have improved it) was literally a sliced in the centre which meant you had a mouth full of onion when you reached it. The tomato relish served with the fries was very nice and was handy to mix with mayo and make my own burger sauce. I believe the battered hake was very good though.
Restaurant bar joined onto the hotel. Stayed here for a meal during a short stay in Harrogate. Service was good, with the chap who showed us to our table friendly and interacting with us. Food and drinks orders taken quickly, even though we were only one of two families in there. Food was good quality and reasonably priced for what is a more upmarket restaurant bar. We all enjoyed our meals and service. My only gripes would be parking has to be paid for, the lighting in the restaurant is a little dark and our disabled family member struggled to get in due to steps in every access point as far as we could tell. Otherwise, recommended.
Great setting for a meal and drinks. Lovely outdoor seating area too.
Overpriced for what it is but nice pub and good service. Food was good but too steep for a simple sandwich. Ideal for small work meetings during the day day.
Fun place. Good range of beers. Food was mixed - bit overpriced. Some dishes were massive in portion and some were small. Best food on our table was the pork belly for sure. Was going to order the burger until I saw it being delivered to someone else. Would go back, but there’s room for improvement on the menu. Nice people. There’s a no dogs sign on the bar door. But dogs are allowed in the restaurant and patio tables. Would be useful if it made that distinction on the sign…
Atmosphere and environment great. Service was very quick and professional, friendly staff. The good was nice, but nothing special. A little more expensive than the usual. We had pub classics, so maybe the other meals were more special.
Fell below expectations after having a great experience at the York Branch. Starters of duck as well as the vegan tacos was nice. The Chateaubriand simply had little flavour. Peppercorn sauce also lacked flavour and was far to runny. Side order of peas were average at best. The mushroom was very nice, as we're the chunky chips. However the deserts were excellent. Service by the young man was attentive and helped make up for the meal falling below my expectations.
Starters were good, but no better than a fairly good pub. Steaks were good quality meat but not treated as well as they deserve. Decent selection of wine which is reasonably priced and ok selection of local bitters/ales but only continental lagers. Such a shame. Restaurant has a nice atmosphere and fantastic high ceilings. Overall, ok but could do better with more attention to detail, better notice on service after initial seating and more pride in the quality meat that's been sourced.
Very busy pub and liked the decor of the place. Quick and efficient service and the two young girls that waited on us were very friendly. The pork sandwiches were pretty average and shame the fat chips were the frozen variety but probably our expectations were set too high. Not the sort of place for an evening dining experience but a great selection of drinks.?
Table booked for Fat Badger but the restaurant is part of the White Hart hotel. We were told this when we had to go twice to the bar as no one came to greet us despite saying we were here. I felt it smelled of fat cooking which was off putting. On leaving (decided not to stay due to these issues), no apology from hotel reception staff, just a " no problem " .Won't be returning
