Ordered mushroom shawarma, got chicken. That was alright for me who will eat anything, but not for anyone expecting a vegan main. It was very enjoyable, and when asked if everything was okay we didn't raise it as a problem. Sending it back would likely have disrupted an otherwise pleasant evening. The only other negative was the staff who were obviously keen to get finished for the night (they close at 9), not that they hurried us to be on our way. Absolutely lovely food, The burger was cooked just right and the bottomless pancakes rival even Robinsons in York! Chips had been cooked a few times to m y but for those crispy chip experts these will be right up your street: A little slow to begin with for drinks orders but made up for it and politeness and food so 10/10 bills

A lovely time had by all of us. Lovely food and very attentive staff. We came with our 6 year old and were given a little colouring book and crayons. We did wait a little while for food but we were reassured as well by the Gee who looked after us. We were surprised to also receive a discount due to waiting. We hadn't complained at all. This was a lovely gesture. We will be back again if we can! Highly recommend!

I had the vegan breakfast which was so nice, was enough of everything, the mushrooms were so nice, and the scrambled tofu was a great add. I also has an ice oat hazelnut latte which was okay but wouldn't get again. The atmosphere was nice and the staff were so lovely and friendly. Also do 20% student discount, I believe there's blue light as well.

We stopped off at Bill’s in York and honestly couldn’t have picked a better spot. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was relaxed, welcoming, and buzzing in that perfect brunch kind of way. The sausage and egg bun was spot on – beautifully cooked sausage, perfectly done egg, and a soft bun that brought it all together. Simple food done properly, and absolutely delicious. The vanilla pancakes were the real star though: light, fluffy, and full of flavour without being overpoweringly sweet – exactly how pancakes should be. Great food, friendly service, and a lovely setting right in the heart of York. Whether you’re starting a day of exploring or just fancy a proper treat, Bill’s is an easy recommendation. We’ll definitely be back.

I now come to Bill's every Friday on my own for pancakes and it is a lovely experience. It has become a relaxing and therapeutic part of my week. The staff at Bill's are all friendly, attentive and have made me feel so comfortable as a solo diner. A special shout-out to Zara who remembered my name, remembers my order and goes above and beyond! Thank you! I would completely recommend Bill's at any time of day and I will keep Fri morning as my 'me' time, made even better by the service and experience.

Jack, the young leader was very good and represented everything one would expect. We ate at Bills 3 days in a row, and all the staff welcomed our 2 dogs and my partner warmly and welcomingly. The food was excellent.

Another great gluten free find. Has a separate menu with a wide variety of choices. Only popped in for a snack but could have had so much more. Came at a busy time but staff friendly and efficient. Overall very good experience.

Food: The menu offers a fantastic variety of dishes, each cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The addition of salt flakes to many dishes provided a delightful salty taste without being overpowering. With such a variety of options, there's something to please every person. Overall, the combination of amazing staff, a beautiful atmosphere, and delicious food made for a truly great dining experience at Bill's!

Had absolutely phenomenal service at Bills and was a really good menu for a Christmas party. Table games were also a really fun addition, made it feel festive! Special mention to James and Phil as well as the other servers for being super accommodating to all of our dietary requirements and dealing with all of our needy requests as a big party of 17. Could not ask for better service and made it a really memorable night! Highly recommend!

We stopped at Bills for lunch Monday and was served by Emily, (Scottish lass) what a lovely young lady. Great service, so polite and attentive. We both felt we had to leave a comment after such good service. Enjoyed the food too 👍🏻

We came for dinner and were happy with the very attentive and friendly service and also the food was good. We really approcated the separate GF menu, which was great for my daughter.. The only surprise was the added service charge they automatically add to your bill, I prefer to tip when I want to, not be forced into it.

What a fabulous restaurant to visit. Fabulous decor throughout, polite professional staff and last but not least, their food is fantastic.. It's the full package. So the tree of us had starters. I had calamari, the others had tuna carpaccio with tacos. We had a side of flat garlic bread and side salads. Crispy, dry calamari that was still tender inside. The tuna was fabulous too, gently seared on the outside as you'd expect. We had cocktails that were nicely made without tonnes of ice. Now the main meals were spot on. Tasty, moist and full of flavour. I had truffle chicken 2 ways with chips, the others had the same with mash. It was amazing food. The price was good for three of us with 2 cocktails each and a bottle of wine. Service charge is added with 3 options which is fair as the service was excellent throughout our meal. Highly recommend this restaurant and we will certainly visit again. Many thanks.

A great execution in York of this lively and friendly restaurant chain. Super service by friendly and attentive staff, food was delicious and the drinks were on offer so what was not to love? A minor hiccup was addressed unprompted by the very professional manager, James. Highly recommended for family and friend nights out.

Very Dog friendly, with excellent food and helpful attentive staff, overall we had an excellent experience, we even went back for breakfast. The salted caramel sweet was particularly good as was the gluten free chocolate brownie. Bill's is a very good chain well worth a try.

Gorgeous location right in the heart of York. Came for a big breakfast before we had a full day of exploring the city and then came back for mulled wine on the way back to the hotel! Can't wait to try dinner!

As you expect on this Saturday afternoon it was very busy. Under this occasion I visited just on my own and receive prompt service from the staff that seem to be well managed generally very upbeat. Compared to the Kingston upon Thames branch it was chalk and cheese! Recommend you book in advance!

Me and my wife only had drinks in there to get away from the big Christmas crowd and met an amazing guy called James. I am assuming He was one of the managers there and he was super professional and also very down to earth and an absolute credit to the bill's brand. So thankyou mate and also all the other staff were very friendly and a great service with a smile and would highly recommend

Visited over new years and had brunch. Split a greek sharer with my partner along with a few drinks. Great service and great food. Highly recommend the greek sharing platter and the pink lemonade

We visited Bills twice over the weekend, first time for brunch and then again for breakfast on Sunday. Food was lovely and they have a separate gluten free menu which is almost as big as the regular menu. Server's were all really nice and it's dog friendly too. We'll definitely be back.

What an amazing place food was outstanding but what really stood out was the staff. They are incredibly welcoming and genuinely seemed to want to be there. Zara and the other manager really cared about their staff and this contributed to such a wonderful atmosphere. Well done everyone we will definitely return.

Service was great and whilst very busy only had a brief wait for a table, food also arrived quicker than expected. I suppose if I had one grumble it was the bacon on my brunch breakfast which was undercooked and way too fatty/greasy (for my liking). However, overall a pleasant surprise which my daughter suggested whilst we decided where to go at lunchtime.

I recently visited and while I was happy overall, there were a few hiccups. The Katsu chicken curry I had was a letdown—the chicken was dry and tough to cut. On the plus side, I enjoyed the clean and welcoming atmosphere, and the service was top-notch. However, the drink options were a bit limited, just small cans of Coke and no orange or lime cordial. I appreciate the menu variety, but I hope they can step it up next time!

It’s always relaxed and buzzy. Friendly and attentive service. Mains took 30 minutes to arrive though. Oat flat whites were pants - send the barista for reeducation! Veggie burgers were excellent (although the fries were overcooked and dry). They were happy accommodating baby and (small) pram.

Opens at 8am on a Saturday, which we needed. Lots of tables that started filling by 9:30am. Diverse menu. Eggs Benedict was great. Pancakes were a little stodgy. Full breakfasts looked humongous. Paying by QR code from the table was a nice innovation and meant no delay when we wanted to leave.

Great place for food however a little expensive. Me and my friend had the pancakes which were a great portion size which we definitely struggled to finish!

Excellent breakfast, although slightly cold for the Eggs Royal. The traditional breakfast was lovely and the black pudding was really good. Cappuccinos were good and so we're the juices (although they did put in ice cubes to cool them down). The Staff were extremely welcoming and friendly.

As a walk in on boxing day, surprised to get a table straight away. We must have the last people to order breakfast as lunch menus came out immediately after we were given our menu. Hash brown with cheese and bacon stack and toast and jam. We might have been better if we had been offered the lunch menu. Service was fairly slow.

Popped in here to try out. Tried the 2 course lunch for 15 pounds. Good value I thought I had a good burger and fries and a decent size chocolate and caramel tart. Partner had mackerel salad and mini donuts. Pretty good value. Nice friendly staff.

Lovely food! However the 12.5% Service Charge which is awkwardly automatically added to your bill is just greed from corporate at the top who don’t want to pay their employees a proper wage and want to take it from the customers pockets instead I wouldn’t of ate here if i knew this was the case, normalising of tipping culture is getting out of hand in the UK and will ultimately push your customers away to spend their hard earned money elsewhere

After going to other Bills restaurants we expected good things. This has a similar theme to the others & it's an enjoyable place to be. We'd wanted to try the unlimited pancakes for a while but unfortunately we left feeling a bit disappointed & kind of short changed. They tasted okay & were presented well but they were just 'okay' The restaurant wasn't very busy as we arrived just after 3pm. Our initial server was quick to greet us, polite, friendly & seated us straight away. However from then on things took an age to move along. A different server took our orders & after the first arrival of the pancakes we sat & waited.... & waited.... & waited for the next serving. Again they seemed quite some time before arriving & this went on for the whole of our service. Staff wondering around chatting to each other, glancing our direction at empty plates, to then carry on chatting. By the end of our visit we felt like the cost of the pancakes was coming out of the staffs pockets & they were doing everything possible to string out the time between orders & save a few ££ (obviously not the case but how it felt) So we both left with a bit of a disappointed feeling really, which is a shame as we've always enjoyed other Bills🫤

Came here on the back of a day shopping to get a slightly early evening meal. Interior looked nicely decorated with a genuinely cosy atmosphere. Server was friendly and attentive though the service itself was a bit slow considering that things did not seem very busy. The food when it arrived was colorful, vibrant, fresh looking and followed up on the visual promises it made with the flavors it provided. Absolutely delicious. Not so great for me was the fact that Bill's is cashless. Check out the smallprint (literally!) on the bottom right hand corner of the front of your menu. As a business decision I always kind of feel this kind of decision is not taken for the benefit of the customer, but so the business can save itself the inconvenience of having to handle cash. Cash is no less convenient for me to carry. Nice food in a nice location, would have scored higher from me if they had not dictated how I choose to pay.

Disappointing visit. We had been looking forward to a visit to Bills for quite some time, friends had recommended it. We found the restaurant to be very well laid out and really attractive inside and the staff to be helpful and polite. However we found the food service to be slow today and when the food arrived although well presented, unfortunately my chicken burger was only just warm. Although the replacement arrived in minutes and was nice and hot it left us disappointed with our visit. Would we go back? Probably not.

We booked a table for 4 for my Grandma’s birthday. We were sat down quickly at the table and ordered our drinks. The coke zeros came in the form of a warm can, so warm to the point the ice melted completely within a couple of minutes. The food was tasty but i wouldn’t say particularly good value, but i suppose that’s the coney street tax. We waited ages for our table to be cleared and to order a desert. This was a Sunday at 1300 and it was fairly busy.

Been to Bill's York before, a couple years back and thought it was fabulous. But this time was quite disappointing. The service was extremely slow, the burger came stone cold, and my mum's order came with hollandaise sauce when she asked for it without. Aside from that, the fries were delicious and our waitress was friendly and helpful.

I was really disappointed with my visit to Bill’s in York. I’ve been to several Bill’s restaurants around the UK and always enjoyed them, but this one was by far the worst experience. My pancakes came out brick solid and the portion size was noticeably smaller than usual. We even sent the pancakes back to be made fresh, but they were still very tough and hard the second time. At other Bill’s locations, the pancakes are fluffy and stacked — not two small pancakes that taste like they’ve been put in a toaster. My partner’s meal was also served cold and in a very small portion. It would’ve been fine if we were paying half the price, but for a £15 breakfast you expect the food to be hot and properly made. The only positive was our waiter, who was kind and patient despite how rushed the restaurant felt. I was genuinely excited to eat here, but this visit was such a letdown. I won’t be coming back.

The food was awful. Had the chicken burger and honestly tasted raw. Everything was luke warm. Was surprised as this place wasn't cheap either. Burger king would have been 100 times better. Very disappointed.
