The Fleece Inn

We had our wedding at the Fleece Countryside Inn, in August 2024. From our first show round to the big day, Carrie-Anne and all the staff were really helpful. If we had any questions or requests, they were responded to promptly, putting us at immediate ease. The venue tasting was a great experience, the food was delicious, and the venue were able to make any tweaks we needed for allergies, etc. On the big day, everything went seamlessly, and all our guests commented on how friendly and professional the staff were. Everything happened on time, and really allowed us to take in the magic of our day. The beautiful building and scenery around the venue provided the perfect backdrop for our photos. As planning a wedding can be overwhelming, it was a huge piece of mind to know we had secured such an efficient team, with Carrie-Anne sending helpful check list and reminder emails of any upcoming events. We hired the DJ provided by the Fleece, who was excellent. He managed to capture the atmosphere we were looking for throughout the entire evening, with everyone up and dancing! We couldn't recommend the Fleece Countryside Inn enough. Thank you for being part of our special day! Mr & Mrs Jones.

Had our wedding here back in May! I can not fault the place at all. Venue amazing,views amazing and service amazing! Everyone loved the food and we all still talk about it now! The whole planning the wedding process with the team was so easy,always reply quickly to emails and even made some last minute changes the day before. So accommodating for us as a couple and the people who had special meal requirements. They made the whole thing so so easy which is exactly what any bride planning her wedding needs. Thank you so so much I wish I could plan it all over again with you all!

Sunday roast was delicious, served quickly and was hot. Great portion size and great service. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

We ate here last week as part of our Golden Wedding Anniversary celebrations. The young staff were superb and looked after us all with great skill and care. The food was superb and we had a lovely time.

We had the perfect wedding day thanks to the amazing venue and staff! Everyone that works there is a credit to the Fleece. We couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else. Everyone went above and beyond to ensure everything leading up to the day and during went well.

Had a Sunday lunch was fantastic best ive had for a long time. Ive been a few times and it has always been lovely but today was the best. Staff very helpful kind and patient they are superb!

We stayed in our campervan in the car park overnight and had an amazing meal. The food was incredible and some of the best pub food we’ve ever had. The location is stunning with views over the moors from a fantastic terrace. Mark and the bar/waiting staff were really friendly. Well worth staying or eating at The Fleece.

The views are absolutely stunning, and the Sunday roast was amazing. I opted for the pink beef and I can honestly say that the roast was the best I have had in a very long while. Compliments to the chef, the staff and anyone else involved. Please try this place!

I hosted my Birthday Celebrations on Sunday for 60 guests. The Venue is fabulous, we had a bar area, a Party room for dining and an outside terrace which overlooks the vale of Ripponden. Carryanne, Antonia and the team provided top class service, nothing was too much trouble. I selected buffet style menu and it was delicious, most of the guests complimented the staff/cooks. I definitely recommend this venue and staff for any occasion and also any restaurant meals. Rebecca x

Just got married on the 28/5/25. What can I say…..,all I can say is we had the most amazing day which we will never forget. Not only did the weather behave as it was glorious, this added to the beautiful venue, the amazing staff through the day & into the evening, delicious 5 star food & drink, accommodation….everything was perfect. Thank you for the bottom of our hearts for making our day so unbelievably special. We loved every second 🥰💖❤️

We visited for the first time yesterday, and it was absolutely amazing! We sat on the terrace, which offered a lovely view and a wonderful atmosphere. The place was very clean, and the food was delicious. I highly recommend the Caesar salad—it was fantastic! The staff was kind and professional, and we would definitely return!

We had our wedding reception at the fleece at the end of November 2024 and couldn’t rate the experience highly enough, from the beginning with the planning process we always felt like we was in good hands with regular check ins with the team, tasting menus and email contact, no ask was too big and Carrie-Ann truly helped us plan the perfect day. The team on the day were amazing, they made us feel at ease and were always around to assist. The food was incredible- we have had so many compliments since the wedding. Just the perfect location for a cosy, relaxed wedding, if you’re thinking of having a wedding here go and have a look, the views alone will have you sold even before you meet the amazing team.

One of the best places I've stayed with was a great breakfast,lovely eggs, and great toast hash browns are a must. Excellent bed normally im tossing and turning all night but was asleep in 30mins which for me is very good. The room was just right for me. There were plenty of items in the room, and lovely and quiet. Opportunity to have evening meal and use of bar. First night, I just chilled in my room

Really lovely pub, food drinks, beautiful views, the only thing I would say is its not cheap, the food and drinks are above average its a place to treat yourself once in a while unless you are flushed.

The food was delightful – hearty, delicious, and just what you’d hope for from a quintessential country pub. The staff’s attention to detail, whether it was quick service or thoughtful recommendations, truly stood out. If you’re looking for a place with incredible hospitality, great food, and a welcoming vibe, The Fleece is a must-visit. Can’t wait to return!

We passed by the fleece this week and decided to pop in for some food. The location is absolutely beautiful and the setting, service and atmosphere were beautiful. We had a lovely lunch off the lite bite menu which was definitely not lite and amazing value for money. We want to say a special thank you to Reece, who was so friendly and very attentive and took time to welcome us and make us feel right at home as if it was our own regular local! We were out and about looking around the area to move over this way so cannot wait for this place to be our new local place for lovely people food and drinks.

We want to share our unforgettable wedding experience at The Fleece back in September. From the very beginning, Carrie-Anne was so helpful, assisting us every step of the way ..from our initial enquiry to the big day itself. On the day, the staff were very friendly and attentive which made everything run smoothly, allowing all of our guests to enjoy the day. The food was nothing short of spectacular! All of our guests are still raving about how delicious everything was. It certainly added an extra special touch to our celebration. We chose Aisle Style for our decor, and they did a fantastic job. The venue looked perfect, exactly as we had envisioned it. The views from The Fleece are breathtaking, and we were lucky enough to spend some time on the terrace during the afternoon which we and our guests absolutely loved. All in all, we couldn’t have asked for a better venue for our wedding. The Fleece exceeded all our expectations and we would highly recommend it to anyone who is considering getting married there. We had such a lovely dinning experience at The Fleece on Thursday 9th October! We booked a table for dad's 82 birthday and we were delighted with our choice of pub! The venue is not only special because of the beautiful building and setting - and autumnal and tasteful Halloween decorations - but we were mainly impressed by the very attentive service and amazing quality of every dish. The steak night options were superb, great quality of meat, cooking and sides dishes, and I had the best vegetarian meal I have ever had in a pub - delicious! and with very interesting and tasty accompaniments. Every dessert was gorgeous and beautifully presented, well above the quality and presentation of other pubs. The waiting staff were so very professional and made us feel so looked after! And we were so pleasantly surprised by the very thoughtful gesture for dad´s birthday on his dessert:) they made the evening extra special! Thank you to everyone at The Fleece for the wonderful dining experience! Very highly recommend. ( We are moving to the area soon and delighted to have such a wonderful pub on our doorstep!:):)

We stayed here last night and we couldn't fault anything at all. Our room was immaculate ,we loved the large bath & shower, evening meal was delicious and service first class. Breakfast was also delicious and we will definitely be returning. We regularly stay in Yorkshire for business, traveling from Swansea, and we look forward to staying here again soon. Staff we so friendly and welcoming.

I had my wedding here at the start of Novemebr 2025. I can't recommend this place enough. The whole process is so easy from start to finish and the venue is just full of beauty spots for the photos. Not to mention the veiw out over the valley. We were exceptionally lucky and got a fireworks display in the distance! The staff are lovely and professional and will help you with any query. Carrie-ann is there every step of the way and is just so organised and efficient it makes everything so much easier! Also the food is just out of this world, I will definately be going back for the food!

I got married at the fleece in the summer. We knew straight away it was the venue for us with the most stunning scenery. Carrie-Anne was fantastic helping us to plan our day making it relatively stress free and we had brilliant service from start to finish would 100% recommend!

Pulled into the car park when stuck in traffic after meeting a dodgy used car salesman, wasn't in the best of moods parking up but walking into the Fleece and being warmly welcomed by all the staff soon changed that. My group was given a nice table, and drinks orders taken straight away with a fantastic suggestion for a beer. Our food od order was quickly taken too and arrived in good time. That was easily one of the best pub roasts I've ever had, everything was perfect, delicious and generously portioned. The pub is clean and well kept throughout and i cannot praise the staff enough. After a 4hr drive to have my time wasted by one local business, The Fleece soon fixed that and i will happily make the drive again just to dine here.

Great pub, excellent beers, friendly staff.We ate the pub on New years day, the food was very good. Scollops were fantastic as was the steak I had, my wife had the Venison Wellington which she said was excilant. Great pub!!

I met up with two other friends for a catch up and dinner at the fleece. We had fillet steak which was cooked to perfection and the salad, chips and sauce were great. Friendly staff. Nice and warm (can't emphasise how important that is in the autumn and winter!). Vibey on a Saturday night. Great visit and would definitely go again.

I attended my stepdaughters wedding and was treated to a fabulous and emotional day. This venue was ideal, 50 guests for the afternoon and 100 guests for the evening, handled expertly by the staff. My only gripe is that the movements of my Father-in-law in his wheelchair was very very difficult, more could be done to make it wheelchair friendly for the venue and bar guests

We had a wonderful wedding at The Fleece Inn. The staff were so professional and worked like a well-oiled machine. The food was outstanding, the views were beautiful, and the rooms were lovely too. Incredible service, amazing food, perfectly picturesque and they made our big day a seamless exercise. Incidentally, every single time we went for a meeting we’d go early so we had an excuse to get dinner there too. Worth the trip for the food alone, and such good value for the quality. I don’t think our wedding is the last time we’ll be heading there!

The Fleece is an absolutely wonderful venue and we're thrilled that we could spend our wedding day there. The team were incredibly friendly, attentive and organised and made the entire wedding day run so smoothly. The venue itself is beautiful, both inside and out and it was amazing to have the dramatic countryside views throughout the day. The space is so versatile and we were really impressed with how seamlessly the team were able to transform the room from wedding ceremony, to wedding breakfast to dancefloor. The honeymoon room was wonderful and a great way to end the night, with a really thoughtful card and present from The Fleece waiting for us. Carrie-Anne and the team have been so helpful from the moment we booked and we felt so at ease that everything was being handled for us. The food was also delicious and all of our guests loved it too. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Fleece for a moment, thank you so much!

A great new find.... I have only just found The Fleece Inn and wanting to try a new place to stay when on business in the area, I booked. Good quality rooms, great menu and local ales. Very friendly team, I would recommend and will be back

Had lovely fish and chips here. We didn't stay so can't comment on rooms.

Visited for the first time today. Lunch for 3 of us. Not a bad experience but a couple of things went awry. Starters were plentiful but 1 was late due to the server getting the order wrong. 2 plates of pork for main but black pudding missing from both - although we didn't notice until later! An extra drink ordered didn't arrive. To be fair to the staff who were lovely, there was a wedding reception on at the same time, so that may have accounted for the missed items. However food very tasty in lovely surroundings and we haven't been put off and will definitely give it another try.

Nice restaurant but can be slow sometimes due to how busy it gets. Would still recommend

4 of us, 1x fish pie, nice, 2x fish and chips, nice, 1x chicken burger, a joke. Chicken burger was two measly chicken nuggets with lettuce in a plain bun, no wonder we rarely visit the place anymore. Very disappointed :(

The waiter forgot one of our main courses and also one round of drinks. We were seated in a corner and blocked in by the table next to us, so whenever we wanted to go to the toilet we had to ask someone on the table next to us to get out of their chair and let us get past. Food was very nice but it should be for the price of it. Not the best experience overall.

Its a shame really because for the most part, its great, some amazing tasting food. However, three things: - The Vegan pasta tasted like it came out of a jar, tomato sauce, no herbs,mixed with water (however, not pasta water as there was no starch for the sauce to stick to) - A meal was dropped on the way to us, at the bottom of the stairs. Which happens, understandable. However, what isn't understandable is that no-one bothered to come and apologise for the now 10 minute wait and didn't tell us what was going on. - All the staff were young and inexperienced. Clearly the owners value cheap wages over qualified staff. Everyone needs their first job, understandable. But there was not one member of staff with the experience to guide the ship.

Disappointed! After seeing the reviews, was looking forward to our lunch with friends at The Fleece. When we went in the toilets are straight facing and the area had a smell of toilets, our table was next to the entrance and so the smell was there all through the meal. The table was sticky which was just "yuck" and the guy serving was very surly and had zero customer service skills. Really disappointed with this place.
