Opinions de Lightfoot Restaurant Leesburg
Had dinner here on a cold Saturday night. The decor is very nice, a converted bank. The drinks were very good and strong. Our server was accommodating and not rushing our meal as many places tend to do on crowded nights. We ended up “closing “ the restaurant and gripe from the management. Even offering drink to the ladies as gents went to get the vehicles. The good was a delight. Oyster batter was very light, crab cake with very little filler, schnitzel made with very large chicken breast. No dish we had disappointed. This is a nice find in Leesburg. We will definitely be back and recommend the restaurant.
It's a restaurant that restored the old bank a long time ago, so the atmosphere and interior are really beautiful and Elegant. The better than Maryland crab soup was really delicious. The wine was also attractive. But the fillet mignon steak was too dry and tasteless. The fried oysters were too thick and the seasoning was too strong, What is worse the liver itself was not tasty. The oysters inside were not moist either. The interior is very beautiful, the crab soup was delicious, but it's a pity that the main menu is not delicious.
What a unique and memorable experience! This restaurant is set inside a beautifully restored old bank, and the atmosphere is just incredible—full of character and charm. You can still see original features like the vault, which adds a fun and historic touch. The food was delicious, thoughtfully prepared, and the service was warm and welcoming. It’s a perfect spot for a relaxed meal with a bit of history on the side. Highly recommend checking it out!
Great old spot across from courthouse and Park in Old Town Leesburg. Apparently used to be a very old bank, not sure what the upstairs veranda was for🤣 Food was great and Joe was a perfect server. They split our entree, basically steak frites, which was delicious. Lovely decor and atmosphere. Will definitely be back!
Absolutely fantastic! Beautiful building! Amazing food! Service from Joe B was exactly what you'd expect. Excellent experience. See you again, soon.
First time in Leesburg, VA. My contractor recommended the Lightfoot restaurant. We came at 3pm and walking into the building was an amazing experience to the eye. The food was truly amazing in taste, freshness, and presentation on point. The wife and I will be back for more.
We held our daughter's wedding luncheon in the Marshall room upstairs. Everything was perfect. We scaled down the menu to 8 entrees and at least one person ordered each of the entrees. We also ordered several appetizers. Everyone cleaned their plate which is a good testimonial to quality and taste of the food. We decorated the room and tables ourselves. Carrie (co-owner) was very helpful in helping us pick menu items and allowing us in the room early to decorate. We were very glade we picked a private room vs. just reserving 14 places in the main dinning room. The small room fee was well worth the money to have a private get together. Remmy (our server) did a great job of keeping on top of drink orders and getting all the entrees delivered to the right people. Our daughter and new son-in-law were very happy will all the food and arrangements.
This was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. First the place is absolutely beautiful. Located in an old bank, it has an American feel with French decorations all about. All the poster look to be French, and if authentic, they might be very old. There is a large fireplace and mantel that right behind the bar. Good sized bar as well. There is an upstairs, really 3, the 1st goes to a second bar with a nice piano. There is also a large ballroom, which looks to hold weddings. going up the other stairs, there 3 more inclined meetung room, then a very nice furnished living room. The service was impeccable. Now the food.. OMG, the crab nachos were unbelievable! They make their own chips, and they are fantastic. My son thought his salmon was the best he's ever had! Portions were good sized as well.. I can't recommend this place anymore! It hits all the points with 5 stars
We used to live in Leesburg and were at Lightfoot multiple times per week 😁 it was top notch back then. Then moved to WV. Today we were in the neighborhood again and had to stop in. It is still just an amazing experience with lovely ambience, delicious food and super friendly owner & staff. Got to chat with Ingrid who even remembered us. I had the BLT&C & husband had the berry french toast with chicken fingers. Both were so good!
Was really yummy brunch late on a Sunday. Slightly different take on the usual meal items. Few critique on flavor or salt missing here and there but we ate everything. Will come back to try some more. Great atmosphere with spacing and music was around but not on you.
Highly recommend this place. Happen to eat here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised on my experience. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted and seated. The atmosphere is inline with the historical buildings in Leesburg. Everything was clean, including immaculately cleaned restrooms as well. Our server Eli was exceptional and provided top notch service. Our food came out hot and passed the eye test and taste was delicious. Crab bisque was loaded with crab meat and flavorful. Scallops with sweet potatoe pancakes were chef's kiss. My entree was lobster and shrimp pasta on angel hair noodles. Everything was very good and I will return. Last thing, I have to mention the music playing while dining was excellent.
Good food. Perfect for Brunch. They can make minute changes to dishes as in we asked to exclude meat in one dish and make it vegetarian. Must book a table in advance.
Love this restaurant! The tomato soup was amazing as was the filet and berry desert. The waiter was one of the best we had ever had! I loved the doggie bag 🤣 Would definitely return when in the area!!
The atmosphere is fun and elegant. I enjoy their food and the cocktail menu!
Rich flavors in the rockfish. The bread was good. Personable staff. The rest of the menu looked interesting as well. A second visit is definitely in the future.
We had a wonderful brunch! The cheddar biscuits are awesome and there were so many brunch options. I had the smoked trout mousse on a bagel which was delicious. The portions are large. The setting of the old bank was grand and the service was impeccable. Our servers Lisa and Cameron were wonderful,
We came here to celebrate a special occasion. We had heard great things about the restaurant so thought this would be a great reason to check it out. When we arrived for our reservation we entered and was just intrigued by the atmosphere and decor. It's apparently an old bank where remnants of the old decor are still visible from the vault door, wood ceiling tiles, and the chandeliers. There was even a table that caught our eye and we asked if it was possible to be seated there. We were told it wasn't available due to a valid reason. But as we were waiting for our table they actually informed us that they were going to make it happen and get us that table!!! For them to go above and beyond was quite touching as it made our celebration more special ... an extra thank you to the staff for going out of the way! Food was impeccable! Appetizers: We started with the honey ham biscuits (total of 4). The biscuits were so fluffy. I thought at first the thickness of the biscuit would overpower the ham, but it was actually a perfect balance of flavors, with the honey being a nice addition to the overall bite. These were so good, we ordered a second order! Deviled Eggs (total of 4) were good. My first bite was a tad salty but then the pickle it sits atop kicked in and a sweetness took away some of the saltiness. Crab Bisque - if you like she crab soup, you will enjoy the flavors here. Plus there are a good bit of crab chunks within the soup (which is pretty rare now, especially with increasing costs). Lobster Bisque (this was a special for the day) - I didn't really try this one but the person who did Loved it and said there were chunks of lobster in the soup. Entrees: I asked for suggestions from Remi our server, and he stated one of his favorites is the Shrimp & Lobster Pasta Entree. I opted for this one and was not disappointed. It's served with a cream sauce but it wasn't heavy at all, over a bed of angel hair. My first bite provided a burst of flavor that makes my mouth water just thinking of it - one with a light smoky flavor, blended with perfectly cooked shrimp, and the sauce providing a perfect compliment. Cheeseburger - we were told the ground beef was from the parts of the tenderloin steak they don't use. That was enough to sell us on it. Person loved it! Tenderloin and Crabcake Special - Tenderloin was tender and cooked perfectly to the medium rare request. Crabcake was full of lump crab. Served with housemade mashed potatoes and asparagus. Another great option. Dessert: Pumpkin Brownie with vanilla ice cream. The brownie is a generous serving and provides plenty to share. Bathroom: Bathroom is still the old-school metal stalls. There are a total of three stalls, one being the wheelchair accessible. I don't recall a changing station but perhaps it's in the larger stall. It was also a nice addition that they offer different lotions - especially nice during the cold winter days. Highly suggest when you're looking for a nice place to celebrate a special occasion!
We had a party of 6 for a lovely work Christmas party dinner. The restaurant is decorated beautifully. Tony was our server and was phenomenal. We had wonderful food and service. And will definitely be back!
Elevated American dining with a French accent is on the menu at Lightfoot. Housed in a former bank building, the atmosphere is grand, even imposing, but the staff are friendly and warm. I can see how this would be a great place for a special occasion. We just went for a regular Sunday dinner. We started with the Virginia ham biscuits which are mouthwatering, tender, savory and simply delicious. The meal went from strength to strength with perfectly prepared and presented main courses. We tried the streak salad, the fried chicken and the French onion soup - all delicious. For dessert - butterscotch banana bread pudding and the sundae special plus the fabulous chocolate pudding hit the spot, filling up the last spaces. They also offer a full bar and a nice wine list - I opted for an ice cold cosmo that was perfectly tart and refreshing. Overall, really can’t recommend highly enough. You won’t regret making time for a meal here.
Valentine's Day early dinner at the bar. Drinks. Peking Duck Quesadilla, Asian Crab Nachos, Perfectly Medium Steak n Crab Cake, and cotton candy. What a great meal with always outstanding service.
Visiting from out of town. Went to a catered event here. An eclectic restaurant located in what used to be a bank. Wonderful venue. Excellent service. Delicious food. I can only say that I would absolutely be a regular diner at Lightfoot if I lived nearby.
I had the pork/ shrimp and grits. My wife had the filet mignon and crab cake. They provided some jalapeño cheese bread and corn bread. I missed the appetizer and dessert picture. We had a small private room upstairs. Perfect for the table of eight. I used to go here years ago when it was still People's National Bank. Love how the kept the beautiful bank building and tweeked it to fit the needs of a restaurant. Remy or Remi was our server. He was amazing just enough attention when we needed and let us have a nice evening out to enjoy the company. We had a party of seven. We showed up a 6 and they had already run out of a few items. Other than that the food the service was stellar. I have ate here maybe 10 times over the years and Lightfoot never disappoints.
We used to come here with my family years ago and decided to make the almost 2 hour drive to come back. Let me tell you it was way worth the trip. Being from Annapolis I can certify that the Better Than Maryland Crab Bisque definitely earned it's name. There is lots of crab, just the right amount of sherry and loads of creamy goodness. You will also never find better fried green tomatoes. They are perfectly breaded, topped with jalapeno cheddar cheese, a shrimp, and the szechuan chili sauce gives them just the right amount of heat. My husband had the maple glazed halibut which was also delicious, I couldn't stop stealing bites. The portion of fish was generous, not overly sweet which can sometimes happen with maple, it was totally the star of the dish with just enough of the other elements to complement it. I was still on a crab kick so I the crab cake sandwich and again it was a great portion of jumbo lump crab meat not loaded with filler, you just get that great crab flavor and the dill sauce just adds to that flavor. It is hard to find a restaurant that checks all the boxes but Lightfoot has managed to knock it out of the park consistently for years. Thank you Chef Ingrid for making our visit special. We can't wait to come back.
Oh man, found this gem in the historic downtown of Leesburg. Top notch restaurant, great customer service, great tasting food made on the spot from scratch. The chef has been there for 20 years. Kudos for you guys. Good for the whole family. I strongly recommend. 👍🏻
We went for our Anniversary dinner. It was festive. The service was excellent. The food was delicious and beautiful. The old bank building is so elegant and refined. We loved our dining experience.
I had an amazing dining experience at Light Foot Restaurant in Leesburg! From the impeccable service to the delicious food and inviting ambiance, every moment spent there was truly enjoyable. Highly recommend for a memorable dinner with friends or colleagues!
Lightfoot is our favorite place to go to celebrate special occasions. You can't go wrong with anything on chef Ingrid's menu, but especially don't miss the crab bisque! The wine list has good variety and is thoughtfully curated for a range of price points. We also love the ambiance of this beautiful, historic former bank building. Reservations highly recommended, especially on weekends.
Amazing and delicious. The menu is always changing and every time it's awesome. They have a great "special" selection which I highly recommend you try. The staff is also really attentive. There is parking right behind the rest so you don't have to travel far. The one complaint is the wine selection needs a little work
Beautiful ambiance. Strong drinks, tasty food (at a good price point), and friendly service.
Just the history of the place is amazing to look at, plus the fried green tomatoes was something else, absolutely brilliant ☺️
The shrimp and grits is phenomenal. The atmosphere is classy and romantic. Service is excellent.
Stunning architecture. Restaurant sits inside a former bank. I could look at this place all day. The crab bisque soup, cup, had a HUGE crab cake in the soup! Silky soup full of flavor. Spinach salad with walnuts had a tangy dressing. The au ju sandwich is large enough for 2. Professional service. Nice vibe, lovely spot. Nicest restrooms of any place around. Check out the men’s room, can see the vault. Sit next to the fireplace for ambiance. Highly recommend
We enjoyed our dinner so much here! It was absolutely delicious and our experience with the staff was lovely from start to finish. The place feels slightly dusty and the food tasted good but not what I expected for the price. Overall it was a nice experience
Lightfoot never disappoints as the consistency in service , food and atmosphere are perfect. We went recently for lunch without a reservation and they were able to seat us promptly. We enjoyed the French Dip Sandwich, yum yum. The bread was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, the roast beef was prepared to perfection. And the sauce- the right balance of flavor and consistency. The French onion soup is our absolute all time “ must haves” when we go. I have tried to order it elsewhere and nothing lives up to Lightfoot French Onion.
Just enjoyed a lovely holiday party at Lightfoot hosted by Salon 454. The private room was so pretty and cozy with the beautifully decorated fireplace. The server was very professional and always smiling. Wish I remembered his name to mention, but great service. Food was yummy and loved the specialty holiday beverages. Fabulous evening.
The building is very unique. While sitting you can take in the historic architecture. The staff are very well dressed. We arrived with no reservations, and there was even a wedding reception happening, but they still took us to a table without any wait. The food was incredible. We had the Mediterranean style salmon, and the salmon salad. The flavor combinations were so savory and delicious. My 2yr old daughter, wife, and myself were dining. They put a rush on my daughters food so she got it quickly and was occupied while we waited for ours. Truly a great dining experience. I highly recommend the Mediterranean salmon and salmon salad.
Amazing food, unique atmosphere, and perfect portions. We had the fried tomatoes (the smokey flavour was perfect), deviled eggs (simple but a perfect bite), scallops (very elevated taste and presentation), and split the Poseidon's Pair. The wait staff is both polite and kind and made the visit easy. Really great date night overall!
Lovely restaurant, good food and good service. The only thing that fail short is their blood orange margarita, it wasn't freshly squeezed and overly sweetened with syrup. Also lack presentation.
It's a very nice place and I can see at night it might be a good "date night" location. It's grand and has lovely bones. The food is also quite good.
Cool vibe in historic bank and really excellent menu. Everything we ate was fantastic - crab dip, scallops, meatball appetizer, grilled cheese, and pumpkin brownie dessert - and I want to come back to try more. One downside is that they seemed understaffed for the space - and the crowd that occupied that space.
My wife and I decided to try the Lightfoot restaurant for the first time on our 16th wedding anniversary. We found it in a google search for fine dining in Northern Virginia and then one of our co-workers vouched for the restaurant. At the restaurant, we had to park at one of the free public parking areas in the rain less than half a mile away, but we didn't have a problem with that since we had an umbrella. We were greeted by a manager (we presume he was a manager since he was seen everywhere in the restaurant after he sat us down). The manager was personable with us as he sat us down and before he walked away from our table. He even came back by to check on us 2 more times before we left. We were serviced by the bartender who provided respectful customer service. The restaurant even gave us complimentary champagne (2 glasses) to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We ordered appetizers (deviled eggs and fried green tomatoes with shrimp) and then our main entrees (Braised pork, shrimp and grits and organic buttermilk fried chicken). Then we shared a big ice cream sundae (they were out of the mint chocolate chip one, but we still enjoyed the regular ice cream sundae). The reason for 4 stars and not 5 stars was because my wife unfortunately did not enjoy her appetizer (fried green tomatoes with shrimp or her braised pork, shrimp and grits entree). Other than that, the experience was great at the Lightfoot restaurant from the greeting, the ambiance, the food and customer service.
LOVE this restaurant! Just had brunch there and the food was amazing. They have the best Oysters Rockefeller I have ever eaten. All of their food is uniquely prepared and delicious. However, the service today was horrible. The server rushed by our table time after time and never stopped to look at how we were doing or ask if we needed anything. When he spoke to us, it was in such a rush that I was unable to understand what he was saying. I think his english was fine but he was in such a hurry to talk that no one at our table could understand him and we had to ask him to repeat himself several times. It is unfortunate that the quality of the service did not match the quality of the food. Maybe they will do a better job next time.
I went for an early dinner to celebrate a birthday with family. For starters, the waiter Jose was very attentive and let us order at our pace. The interior decor is of an old bank with mahogany wood all over. My party ordered a lot of food starting with the Asian nachos and ham biscuits. Both were very tasty. We ordered the salmon salad and steak and eggs and again food was well prepared and tasty. We also ordered the chicken schnitzel. It could have been thinner and the chicken a little more tender. Otherwise it was tasty. Only thing I hate now is the 3% charge for using a credit card. Otherwise, good experience and will most likely come back again
A very nice and unexpected experience in leisburg. I was tickled. It's worse than your stop being. If you're in the neighborhood.
This started as a bizarre experience. We had reservations. As soon as we entered the door and walked to the host stand, we were ignored by the man standing there. He eventually said he’ll be right with us, without ever looking up from what he was working on. Instead of asking how he could help us when he was done whatever he was doing, he just stared at us. Keeping with the uncomfortable feeling and wanting to be treated as a human, I just stared back. After several moments of awkward silence, he finally opened his mouth and asked what he could do for us. We were seated in the corner of the restaurant next to a freezing cold window. I made reservations here because I have heard of how lovely it’s decorated for Christmas. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see any of that where we were seated. On the flip side, our food was great. The portions were healthy and everything tasted great. Our server was attentive as she could be with the number of tables she had. Overall, we won’t be back. We didn’t feel welcomed or wanted and will take our business elsewhere.
Ill cut to the point, if i pay 50 dollars for a dinner plate my fillet better be buttery soft, not a chew toy. And it wasn't just the fillet, the crab dip was more cheese than crab. My hot date also wasn't impressed by their pasta dish. Service was spotty at best, it was V day and I understand they were probably busy. But there wasnt flowers or a candle on our table i had to ask to get these things halfway through the meal because no one noticed. Our server was nice but again not exceptional. The only exceptional thing about this place is the actual dining hall, it is beautiful but again im paying for food and service, not just a pretty sight.
I recently visited Lightfoot for an early dinner and was seated in the back near the bar. While I was looking forward to a quiet meal, the bartender’s talking was quite loud, which prompted us to ask for a different table. For my meal, I chose the schnitzel, while my dining partner enjoyed the pork, shrimp, and grits. Unfortunately, I found the schnitzel to be underwhelming, although my partner loved their dish. On a positive note, the service throughout the evening was excellent and attentive. To top off our experience, we discovered a $25 parking ticket on our car from a private company when we left. There was no visible signage indicating that it was pay parking, and the only small sign was positioned so low that it was obstructed by larger vehicles. This unexpected inconvenience really put a damper on the evening. Overall, while there were some good aspects to the evening, I left feeling a bit disappointed. I might consider returning to Lightfoot in the future, but next time, I think I’ll stick to Tuskie’s.
Overall, a solid and pleasing choice for a night out, but be wary of food consistency and service during last minute group reservations. It was off to a rocky start, with guardians not planning well with time and inserting a change which probably landed us in a nosy bar seat. Environment was beautiful but loud and crowded. When we first ordered drinks, once hot chocolate was more watery than the other, and service was slow and a tad unprofessional. However, after the long wait, our mind blowing food mostly made up for the experience. Would come again on a Monday to avoid crowds.
I was so excited to finally eat here and was disappointed immediately. The hostess actually frowned at us when we entered! We were seated after a moment because we had reservations. I had the crab cake with asparagus and mashed potatoes and my husband had the ribeye with broccolini and mashed potatoes. I found shells in my crab cake and my husband’s steak was very tough. The potatoes and vegetables were delicious. Our waiter didn’t come back once to check how our meal was or refill our drinks. We ordered dessert which was delicious. I think if you pay $54 for a ribeye it should melt in your mouth, not have to saw though and a crab cake should not have shells! Very disappointing and overpriced! Also, charging $5 for using a card??? Aren’t the prices inflated enough? First and last for us.
The food was absolutely amazing, and our server was professional, kind, and attentive. Unfortunately, what should have been a wonderful anniversary dinner took a very uncomfortable turn due to what we overheard at the front of the restaurant. One of the servers (dark hair, beard, lean) was loudly sharing his personal political opinions with colleagues, including comments like “the racist at table 20” and “the homophobes” at another table. His rant continued into topics about “Trump’s America,” which made the entire atmosphere tense and inappropriate for a dining setting. I hate all things politics these days and not to say I disagreed, or agreed, but ruined the moment. We eventually asked our server to please address it, and while they handled it discreetly, the other server clearly took offense. About 15 minutes later, he walked past our area and loudly shouted an insult in Italian while a colleague laughed and quickly walked away. My husband didn’t catch it, and I chose not to escalate the situation further. It was incredibly disappointing, especially for our first visit and our anniversary. We recently moved here from NYC and were hoping to find a new favorite spot, but sadly, this was the most unpleasant dining experience we’ve ever had.
