Opinions de The Livery Tavern Lewisburg
This has been the best food during this trip yet. We are considering going back again. We had the Salmon, Trout, Creme Brulee and Apple Crisp. The drink was the hot toddy I believe it was called and it was delicious. The service was amazing and the atmosphere has been my favorite yet. Strongly recommend.
We're in town to ride the Greenbrier River trail and had an early dinner. Food was very good. Portions were just right. We tried the sweet and spicy shrimp, strawberry pecan spinach salad, chicken Marsala and espresso steak sandwich. Service was friendly and efficient. Lovely main room. The music seemed a little loud but it may have been because we were early and there weren't many people in the main room yet. Very nice first night in Lewisburg.
Never disappoints ;) phenomenal food and drink options, smoked salmon bites, to lamb, to shrimp, wonderful service… patty was super informative and helpful in our decision making … if ever in Lewisburg WV, wonderful dining spot! The vibe is very classy rustic ;)
The Livery Tavern knocked it out of the park from start to finish. The pork belly and slaw were outstanding. Loved the trout and my partner enjoyed her salad. The house made desserts were the cherry on the sundae or in this case mom’s choice chocolate sheet cake and the lemon square with the house-made blueberry ice cream both of which were amazing. Service was friendly and attentive while giving us time to enjoy our meal. So glad we stopped!
The food served at the Livery Tavern is better than some foods I’ve eaten at Michelin rated restaurants. I’m not exaggerating- this place is absolutely delightful. The atmosphere of the restaurant itself is rustic/ speakeasy kind of energy. It’s a smaller spot, but it makes it feel homey. The owner was walking around checking on tables and I thought that was adorable! We started with the calamari which was some of the best I’d ever have; the squid wasn’t rubbery and it was perfectly crunchy. For the main entree I ordered the salmon (cold smoked with honey and brown sugar and then baked!) with risotto and my husband ordered the sea bass with Brussel sprouts. He was so impressed he actually ordered a SECOND entree; the special which was a red fish and equally as delicious. The star of the show for me was dessert. We ordered the banana crème brûlée cheesecake, which I’m sure will end up on a regular rotation for my pregnancy cravings. It is absolutely worth driving 8 hours from NJ for! Overall we are incredibly happy with every aspect of this restaurant. I hope the owners know just how amazing their place is, and how equally amazing their staff is.
All around a great experience. The owner greeted us and told us his son is the chef. Kudos to the chef, our dishes were amazing. My husband especially enjoyed the brussels sprout side. Service was prompt and friendly. We would love to return!
I ate here in mid June 2025. I had the trout with Parmesan and crab, sautéed spinach and basmati rice, and goat cheese ice cream with berries for dessert. I also had cider from a local cider maker. Everything was phenomenally delicious, and was all prepared safely gluten-free. (I am extremely sensitive to cross-contamination with gluten, and the servers and kitchen were all very knowledgeable about what I could have and how to prepare it all safely.) It was a little bit loud for an early dinner, but that may have been because there was a large group of adults having some type of party or celebration. I'm not sure if it is that loud on a regular evening, but that is why I deducted a star for the atmosphere rating.
A really great place. The Food was top notch, The bartender was top notch the service was top notch. The restaurant was clean and cozy. You should try The Smoked Old Fashioned. See my pictures. Can't wait to come back.
10/10! We had Patty as a waitress who was very welcoming and sweet. Lots of delicious drinks and food. Calamari is a MUST and so is the Angel Food cake dessert. A wonderful restaurant!
We had a big group and the staff were super hospitable to accept us near closing. Most of us got trout almondine and it paired great with the pickled veggies. My SO got the espresso ribeye medium rare and it was delicious. The brussels sprouts were so tasty. We also got the pecan cheesecake for dessert and it had the texture of a pudding with caramelized pecans near the crust. What a treat!
The Livery Tavern is exactly what an upscale tavern should be. I would say it one of the best places I have encountered on the road. The atmosphere was great, the staff was friendly and we loved our experience. We will definitely return the next time we are in Lewisburg.
Fabulous evening! Brandon was out bartender. My husband and I stopped into this hidden gem as we were walking to the General Lewis Inn. We were not disappointed! The drinks were great. And the atmosphere was very cozy. We did not get any food but would love to come back to try! Perfect for a winter evening.
Most excellent establishment… Goat Cheese Ice Cream paired with a 30-yr port… HELLA GOOD!
Amazing place to dine at . My 5 star rating for the Butter chicken ( Mentioned as Chicken Tiki masala ) , me and my wife were pleasantly surprised by the prep . It was one of the best butter chicken I have ever had and that’s coming from an Indian guy who really takes pride in the traditional recipes , authenticity of Indian food ! Loved it
Amazingly friendly staff! The braised beef ragu was incredible and cocktails made with local WV spirits were delicious.
Fantastic brunch options and excellent service! Brunch burger was flavorful and you could taste all of the ingredients. I love sunny side up eggs, but don’t think it contributes much to the burger. A regular hard fried egg would be better and less messy. The tots were nice and crispy.
One of the best meals we have had. The filet was amazing!
Great atmosphere, food, and service. Worth the price.
Great food and staff is friendly. We love coming here.
Excellent meal, atmosphere, and service. High dollar but sooo worth it! The ribeye was delectable!
Amazing place with an elegant and fancy atmosphere which will make you enjoy a romantic evening with your special person or a meeting with friends!. Service is really helpful and polite. Food is really good and well presented.
I ate at the bar. The ambience and decor are pleasing. I had the smash burger. 🍔
Beautiful place to go eat, the food is amazing, service is great, and to top it all off its not loud. 10/10
Fireplace ambiance. Excellent drinks and the goat milk ice cream was fantastic
I’m so happy to find a great place to dine out! The Livery Tavern has a delightful ambiance, welcoming staff, and locally-sourced food. Plus, an outdoor seating area. The brussels sprouts salad is outstanding. You simply have to get the bread, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. I recommend this place to any discerning food connoisseur.
Was fortunate to be in Lewisburg again and dined at our favorite spot, The Livery. The new owners were a pleasure to meet, and we gladly told them that everything was perfect! Living 4 hrs away, we aren't here often, but it never disappoints. Filets were perfect, desserts were amazing, and service was spot on, down to meeting our request for one of the small booths that we requested during the reservation. Patty did a great job, and everyone involved truly cared about our experience. Can't wait to return!
This was a special place to celebrate our engagement dinner on a recent vacation. Our waitress was so sweet and so accommodating! The food was tasty, the atmosphere was lovely, but the real 5 out of 5 stars came when the manager came running out in to the POURING rain, knocked on our truck window and handed me the cutest bouquet of flowers! She said, "I was trying to not miss you and wanted to say Congratulations!" Wow, what an extra special touch and made us feel so special! Thank you all! 5+ stars for customer service and making us feel special! Especially in the downpour!
While working in the area, I asked the front desk agent at the Historic General Lewis Inn (a gem of a property) if there was a restaurant that she recommended that isn't a chain and this place was her recommendation. I could not have been happier that I took her up on her suggestion as everything was absolutely wonderful! The food, the service, the atmosphere, everything! I wish I lived closer so I could dine here weekly.
5 stars all around. Our waitress was wonderful. The food was perfect. Goat milk ice cream is creamy goodness. We will be back.
We were tourists in the area and stumbled upon this lovely little restaurant. I had possibly the best ribeye steak I'd had in my life, the espresso rubbed ribeye. Everything we had was delicious, and the staff was top notch. Expansive wine list, elegant menu, great ambience. What more do you need?
Completely blown away. We arrived late in the evening without a reservation and were seated immediately. The ambiance is very cozy and refined, so I was a bit hesitant walking in with an infant, but we were made to feel entirely welcome. Our server, Shayla (sp), truly went above and beyond- not only providing thoughtful accommodations like a high chair and water in a kid-friendly cup, but even crafting a little flower for our baby. The menu was creative and fun, and I enjoyed trying new dishes like goat cheese ice cream and lightly glazed opah. Plates were clearly well thought out and balanced. If I could offer one small, constructive note, it would be that the fish and chicken might benefit from just a touch more time to ensure even cooking throughout. Everything was delicious though, and my husband appreciated the thoughtfully curated cocktail menu. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who made us feel like family. We would absolutely go out of our way to return.
Patty is an awesome server! Just moved to the area & heard great things about this spot - cocktails were delish, great wine menu, & outstanding food (MUST try to potatoes!) Rotating menus supporting local business. Hospitality was top notch & can’t wait to be back.
Amazing restaurant in Lewisburg. Food was outstanding, with outstanding service. Our waitress was a true pro! Great Ambiance!!
Wonderful atmosphere , delicious food, and great service!! The Steak Au Poivre was amazing ! Cocktails and dessert were awesome as well!! One of my favorite restaurants in Lewisburg!
We had a delightful dinner here a few weeks ago! We really enjoyed the service and variety on he menu! Delicious!!!
Such a great spot for some delicious food. Super charming and our waiter was awesome. Food was the best part. Must try the Pork Belly and Burger 2.0 for sure. We went here for date night and it was just perfect.
We came to The Livery Tavern and were blown away by the delicious food, the excellent service and hospitality, the tasty handcrafted cocktails, and the cozy atmosphere. I can’t recommend this place enough.
The Livery Tavern is outstanding! The food is flavorful and beautifully presented, the cocktails are amazing, and the staff is friendly and attentive. A perfect dining experience! 🍸🍽️✨
We were in town for the Lauren Daigle concert and unfortunately they were closed. However the building looked beautiful so we walked over to see it. Just by chance the owner and one of his daughters were there while we were looking at the property and reviewing their menu. They were both so kind, we spent over 45 minutes talking to them. The owner was so kind. He and his daughter opened the restaurant and gave us a tour. We will be back to enjoy the restaurant when they open back up after the fair.
Was really impressed with the quality and presentation of the cuisine. This wa the rare meal out where everything, from the sides to the dessert, was perfectly executed. Also love the atmosphere, especially the fireplace and rustic flourishes throughout. The dessert (the brownie with goat milk ice cream, etc.) was one of the most decadent I've ever had and capped off a festive and memorable meal. Will return.
The Livery Tavern was a very good experience for being in Lewisburg WV. 5 years ago my family and I ate here and had the worst experience possible, but under new ownership the Livery has truly become a wonderful place to enjoy a meal. The food was outstanding, perfectly cooked, exact to all preferences, with classical technique shining through with every bite. My dad hates Brussel sprouts with a passion, but was amazed at how good the side of roasted Brussel sprouts were. The gnocchi and steak tips were excellent with the gnocchi being the perfect texture. My dad ordered the hanger steak, which they cooked perfectly. There is one employee at the Livery who has been there since the last dreadful time we ate there, and the menu is not organized well, but other than those two issues the restaurant was top notch. I would recommend giving it a go.
While members of the family went shopping, I decided to come here to relax with a drink and some calamari. Very nice atmosphere and friendly service. My only negative is that things seemed a bit pricey, but in exchange, they definitely provided a memorable experience.
A pretty good stop for dinner and drinks. A bit overpriced, as 3 old fashioneds came out to $54, and the lobster & shrimp paella was far more paella than seafood. Otherwise, food and drinks were really good. Appreciated the mocktail menu, great option for those don't want to or can't drink alcohol. A bit of constructive criticism, the server was far too over-apologetic over non-issues, such as asking multiple times if the drinks were okay because the bartender is new (the drinks were great), or walking up to the table while apologizing for I assume not coming around for a few minutes (also a non-issue, we were in no hurry). Being from the midwest, I know the personality, and it was even a bit extreme after a while to keep reassuringly saying "it's no problem at all!".
We had Appetizers, a cocktail, and dessert. A Banana Margarita with bruled Banana, Calamari, and Froglegs with a comeback sauce .
Very nice restaurant, decent food and ok service. No issues just nothing spectacular.
Great food, great service. I had the trout, very good, the sauce was good, not too heavy and didn't overwhelm the fresh local trout. Friends all enjoyed their food, including the truffle lobster Mac and cheese and the phenomal filter. Very tender and flavorful. While they were not offering a full menu due to an event, they accommodated my friend who is vegetarian. Only 4 stars because owners/managers walked around and spoke with all tables except ours. Granted we are a rougher crew (we were vendors at a local music festival), and maybe didn't "fit in" with the more middle class crowd, it was still rather inhospitable to be the only table ignored when they were glad handing with all the guests but our selves. Our server was phenomenal, he remembered me from a visit to another restaurant one month earlier. He even recalled my order and beverage preference. This place is great food, good servings (don't expect huge portions, but you wont leave hungry) with friendly and helpful staff. If you come here (which I recommend), expect a semi-upscale atmosphere, with good food and for a good bit of money. It isn't cheap, but well worth it.
The food was well prepared. I was surprised that there wasn't a ribeye included as one of the four beef offerings. The hostess team was AWESOME, and the bartender was SUPER COOL. One miss was the server. She was rushing around like crazy. Stressed us out. She moved and spoke so fast we were exhausted by it. Oh and the decor... awesome!! Beautiful. Will definitely be back.
Cocktails r overpriced. Eating light, my salad with salmon ended up chopped lettuce and ground up salmon. Something I had never seen before. For their food rating, they r average.
I froze inside the restaurant. The Squealing Pig Sauvignon Blanc was delicious, as well as the local bourbon. The Caesar salad was good, ragu was pretty tasty and oysters better than Alabama. The bad part is the Pho was over salted and only a few oz of meat for $40. Our waitress was adequate, just didn’t spend much time at the table and the restaurant was not busy. This restaurants quality of food is not commensurate with the price.
We had to wait forever for food then the steak was overcooked. I did not want to send it back to wait another hour or so again. Asked for butter for our bread the girl said the kitchen said there was no butter. My steak came with herded butter on it. The fried Brussel sprouts were just burnt leaves. Very disappointed. I had been before and it was great. I don't know what they are doing now.
