Tried Crust for the first time and during Lexington Pizza Week and it did not disappoint! Sampled both the Fig & Pig and the Autumn Pizza. Both offered wonderful flavors, my favorite was the Fig & Pig! We tried the garlic knots as our appetizer and they were super soft and delicious. Our waitress was very attentive and sweet. There wasn’t a wait time and the service was excellent. Will definitely be returning to try something on their regular menu in the future.

Great ambience, we were seated on the side porch which has a cute little gas fireplace seating area. The food was amazing, we got a bread knot appetizer, pesto caesar salad, crust wedge salad, and the original pizza. Everything was more than delicious and perfectly portioned. We got the key lime pie for dessert! Looking forward to coming back and trying the pasta and white bean bruschetta. Added a pic I took after dinner of a ‘crust’ moon above Crust!

We use to go to the old Crust prior to their post Covid closure. New location has a great patio for warm and cold weather. Our server was very friendly and did a great job. The food was excellent as all Bella locations are!!! Highly recommend getting the meatball appetizer with your meal.

Wonderful atmosphere. We dined inside, but will return in the evening and sit on the patio. It was beautiful. The service was great. Our server made sure we had everything we needed and checked in regularly. The garlic knots were delicious. It was different than what I expected, but was pleasantly surprised. The Lunch Special of a two topping pizza was very tasty. I chose pepperoni and mushrooms. I also added an additional topping of peppadew peppers. My friends and I will definitely be back.

This place is amazing. The food was delicious! We got the white bean bruschetta and the meatballs. The bruschetta was incredible and different than other things I've had. It was unique in an great way! It had the perfect amount of kick to it, and the olive oil was wonderful quality. The meatballs were SO tender and flavorful! All the flavors in both dishes were balanced immaculately. It is kind of expensive, so you have to kind of go into it with that mindset or get a couple of appetizers like we did, but it was worth it, and I will definitely be visiting again. Now I just have to decide if I can convince myself to try something else that I'm sure will be delicious, or get these incredible delicacies again.

Ate there last night and was blown away. Started telling my friends instead of writing a review. Will definitely be back, Trinity and Conor are awesome people, great service. Ask them for help and they will certainly get you what you need. Kale salad is a 10/10…. pizza is phenomenal. Looking forward to going back.

This is what Lexington has needed for so long!! Great quality with attention to detail, imported Italian flour for the bread and pizzas, delicious food with a relaxed Amalfi-fresh atmosphere! The overall experience transported me back to the vibrant Italian coast. We tried the garlic knots, the Kale Caesar salad, pizza and pesto... all fabulous. I look forward to many more visits, and sharing this gem with all my friends. Thank you, Crust!

I mean come on, this food was amazing. I've been to Italy multiple times, and this is the closest thing I've had in the states. This food is QUALITY. We had the garlic knots, which were ridiculously good, the kale salad which was fantastic, and the margherita pizza, which i kid you not, was just like you would get in Italy. Service was great, atmosphere was on point, with the amalfi coast vibes. We will definitely be back.

Crust is the best pizza in Lexington, hands down. Frank and the team did an amazing job getting this restaurant up and running. We WILL be back.

Very solid. Quality food, and a restaurant with a nice atmosphere. A great bar area and patio would make this a fine spot to get a drink at in the evening. I tried one of their pizzas and was very happy with what I received. For reference, my picture is of 'the Diablo'

My recent visit to Crust was a phenomenal experience. The burrata appetizer and the Dante pizza were both well executed. Staff was helpful and courteous!

Absolutely gorgeous restaurant, I didn't catch my server's name but I came in at 2pm on a sunday and she was fantastic. great menu knowledge and super attentive. food is interesting, menu is stylistically cohesive. I only had a soup (roasted red pepper) and their wings, but both were quite good. would check it out again for dinner!

Had the best time here for lunch! The staff was incredible and the food was so tasty! Since it was our first time they even brought us complimentary ice cream and donuts! So so amazing. Can not recommend enough!

Food was actually incredible — apps, entree and dessert. Service also incredible. I’m very pleasantly surprised and will be back again soon. Great work Crust crew. 🤍🤍

My spouse and I just ate there today out in the patio area. It was truly DELIGHTFUL. We had the most wonderful, well rounded meal. The appetizers, pasta, pizza, and gelato were all so tasty. Everything complimented each other so well. Plus, the staff was so kind and attentive. We will definitely be going again.

This was our second visit and we were not disappointed. The service was great and we enjoyed the outdoor patio. The food was excellent. We started with the Burrata and then had 2 pizzas. My wife had the Funkhi and I had the Murica both EXCELLENT!! We would highly recommend Crust to anyone wanting great food, relaxing atmosphere and first rate service. Oh... and try the coffee and donut dessert!! The Jones

We had a solid experience at Crust on a recent Friday night. Without a reservation, the wait was 35 minutes, which didn't seem bad. The location of the restaurant is a little weird (in a shopping center with a call center and a boutique gym), but the ambiance on the patio very much makes up for it. We shared a salad and a pizza, and both were full of flavor and delicious. The waitress made a few mistakes (most notably not knowing the tap list—delivering a fruited hazy beer when we were expecting a filtered IPA, and completely missing the need to refill a water glass.) But the restaurant is still pretty new, and these things are to be expected to some extent. It definitely didn't sour our time there. We'll be returning soon!

This has got to be the classiest pizza place in Lex. Everything we tried was bursting with flavor. Our BBQ chicken pizza was so savory, satisfying and good. The crust really is amazing. Also, so reasonable priced! We are so impressed and can't wait to come back and try more dishes from their menu.

My wife and I recently visited Crust while briefly in town Lexington. We loved it and it was well worth the high Pease from locals who insisted that we visit this spot. Ingredients here are fresh and delicious all on top of a delightfully chewy crust. We very much enjoyed our visit here and highly recommend Crust to all in Lexington!

Updating my review. We made reservations and had a wonderful experience. Crust was just as I remembered: perfect pizza, great pasta, and good drinks. The patio was beautiful and the service was very nice.

We stopped by for lunch today and had a great experience! The staff was very attentive and the food was phenomenal. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful, but the patio looks like the perfect place to unwind and enjoy some food & conversation by the fireplace!

First time at the crust was recommended by my lovely wife and I have to say that this restaurant deserves five stars across the board. Food was great atmosphere is great and our server. Stephanie was great as well. Try it you’ll like it and we’ll be back.

first timers, and Kat was the best at walking us through all the firsts! from the amazing garlic knots through to the surprise we were very impressed with everything, Italian salad, truffle mac and the bolognese were all delicious. unsure why we’d waited this long but very much look forward to getting back!

Man now this is great pizza. Some of the best kentucky has to offer. Minus one star because in the side room the chairs are awkward with uncomfortable backs and the benches sit too high for the table, made for a very awkward setting to just sit and talk over pizza. Service was great. I recommend anything on the menu i haven't gone wrong once here.

First time at Crust, won’t be the last. Great service, food and ambience. Everything was really well done, and I appreciate the creative wine list. Ashley was stellar. That garlic bread in cast iron is a must have.

Lunch was fantastic! The pizza for two combo led us to possibly my favorite salad ever (the bodega). The pizza was perfection and garlic knots were my favorite I’ve had since I left New York!!!! Service was wonderful and the restaurant is gorgeous

The prefect Atmosphere we got outdoor cover patio seating this was our first time here to the New Crust. We had been to the Richmond road location a couple of times years ago and this Location is much better. Wings and pizza were great Beer was cold. we will be back to try out more of the menu. David was our server and did a great job.

I'm really struggling with my review here. This was my second visit, the first visit was not great but I love the family of restaurants and very much want to add this to my rotation. The atmosphere is fantastic. The service the second time was lovely, from the hostess stand to the server. The pizza the first time was really good, they were def still ironing out answers and when I asked on this visit about a few of those things, like mods-not "diva" mods but can we leave the meat off half the pizza mods-I got solid answers that would likely have me come back, because the pizza was good! But if you've read any of my reviews, you may know I'm not a meat eater. The pasta tonight however was very salty and the portion for the price was quite small. I would struggle to order it again. Listening to folks around me though, it's about the pizza. I also ordered the cheesecake and it was fantastic. I'm just still struggling with the prices for the portions. Would I go split a pizza and a bottle of wine with friends on Thursday? Yes. But I prefer to cook my delicious lex pasta at home compared to what I had here for the price. It's probably a great fit for the neighborhood it's in. Truly, the service was lovely and the cheesecake divine.

Atmosphere and patio are a 10/10. The inside is lovely as well. Staff are so sweet, nice and on top of it. I cannot brag enough on our waiter. He never rushed us for an after work cocktail and snack. However, the food could be improved upon. We got the white bean bruschetta, which was supposed to come with the a drizzle of Olive oil. It was drowning in olive oil. The dish would have been perfect with a drizzle. This was swimming. The garlic squares were tasty, but again, swimming in olive oil. The pizza was very soft and not heavy, but it was burnt in some areas. For a 2 cocktails, 2 glasses of wine, an app, and pizza, it was $65. They do have a happy hour, but no food on the menu for it. Just $2 off cocktails and wine, something about beer, from 3-6pm. I would recommend this place for a bite and patio night for the girls, but I’d warn to just omit all olive oil on all things just in case.

I want to preface this with, my wife and I had a good time and with crust being as new as it is will iron out any kinks. The atmosphere feels upscale and our server was really great. The meatball appetizer was delicious and I recommend it. My pizza, the Dante, was delicious. Not spicy but I have a high tolerance for spice so I assume that's more of a me issue. My wife had the barbecue chicken pizza and unfortunately said the flavor was a bit lacking. On both of our pizzas the crust was still pretty doughy inside. All in all, i enjoyed myself and will be going back.

Fat Man Reviews

Before it opened, the Fat Man and his wife were invited to friends and family events at Crust. Crust closed during COVID but was a Lexington foodie hotspot. Crust uses local and seasonal ingredients to serve up edgy artisan pizza, unique appetizers, healthy salads and drinks in Lexington, Kentucky. We started with the Meatballs. These come with two meatballs, tomato basil cream sauce & grilled ciabatta. The meatballs were good-sized, moist, and filling. They had a great mouth feel and chew while being light and delicate. The cream sauce is flavorful with a slight tomato pop, and the shaved Parmesan adds saltiness to the bite. The ciabatta bread was crunchy on the outside and chewy soft on the inside. We also were served a complimentary order of Garlic knots. These come covered in a Parmesan and garlic sauce, but not swimming. The bread is light and chewy with a little crunch. The Parmesan garlic sauce has lots of chunky garlic and cheese and a nice kick of red pepper. The pepper flakes on the back end lingered and were welcomed in each bite. We shared a couple of pizzas, starting with the Murica, which comes with tomato sauce, pepperoni, quattro formaggi & oregano. The crust is airy and light with a good crunch, chew, and flavor, and the sauce is sweet and slightly chunky, and there is just enough on the pizza. The pepperoni is thin but chews well, has a good spice note, and makes for a great bite. The cheese holds the pizza together with a saltiness and slight creaminess. The next pizza that we tried was the Original. This was made with tomato sauce, pepperoni, sausage, quattro formaggi, mushrooms, olives, onion & peppadew peppers. The olives offer a salty brine, the mushrooms were in the background but offered an earthy flavor, and the pickled onions have a sweet crunch and are the star of the show. The porky salty sausage and the spice of the pepperoni pair well with the creamy cheese, olives, and sweet onions. The only knock was that the crust, while flavorful, was soft and spongy. It could have used a little more time in the oven. The entire bite ate well, and I enjoyed the spice in both pizzas. Crust has now opened and offers a menu full of tasty options. They also serve wine and beer and have a full bar. They offer desserts and pasta dishes. The waitstaff was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. The Fat Man says that Crust is Fat Man Approved with 2 chins.

I enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant and am excited to go back and try more. I went for an early dinner and sat at the bar. I ordered the garlic knots ($12) as an appetizer. I wish the bartender had advised they had a sample version with 2 knots. The appetizer version is way too much for 1. I also got a spicy mango margarita ($12) and the scampi pasta ($22). The shrimp in the scampi pasta was really good but the squid ink pasta did not have much flavor. It tasted like pasta water. I asked for Parmesan and sprinkled it on top. It gave the pasta a much better flavor...can't go wrong with cheese.

Great patio area with awesome service. Awesome spicy marg, one of the best I’ve had. Pizza needed to be cooked a little longer for my liking but other than that it has great potential and I will be going back to try some other items and more margs.

Delicious tartufi and pizza! The garlic knots are definitely the best part of the menu. Only thing I wasn't crazy about was the brownie sundae, but that's not what we came for! Today was my second visit and I'll definitely be back!

The pizza was really good! The place is new everyone still trying to get used to the place! Also appetizer need to be more for your buck I get your there for pizza but you can put more food in your apps! Almost had to get double orders if apps just to feed my family!

Pizza crust was soggy, very dissatisfied with the small amount of toppings, maybe 1 small piece of sausage on each slice. Service and cheesecake were excellent Probably will not go back

Second visit with extremely slow bar service and food service. No one came to our table for 15-20 minutes and we had to ask for a waiter. There were plenty of wait staff walking by. Waiter was new, nit his fault. Burrata app is good, but for $20 it should include 4 pieces of bread for the table, not 3 and don’t charge extra $1/piece so the 4th person at table can enjoy it. Had reservations and put us at worst table, literally 3 feet from hostess and lots of foot traffic. Bright spot was server named Sam and pizza was good.

Pretentious. The one word that I can describe this place. Ambiance/Atmosphere is nice and somewhat welcoming but comparing the price the place was asking vs the food that we were served... Pretentious. Their pasta plate was a mere appetizer size. Garlic knots appetizer and their Quattro pizza were bland and flavorless. Service however was amazing and staff were all kind and sweet. Might come back later on to try other items in the menu to see what the talk of town is about again but this visit was an absolute bust. Felt like I paid almost $60 for barely a liter of Sprite.

Today was my and my wife's second time trying food from Crust. The first time, we got carry out for their pizza and garlic knots, and we very much enjoyed it. Today we decided to try the brunch as we very much enjoy the brunch from its sister restaurant, Bella Cafe. The server admitted that it was his first day working, so we gave some grace for some of the smaller hiccups with our service. Some things included not knowing if coffee or juice came with the brunch buffet, not knowing the brunch buffet was included with brunch entrees, and having to ask another server for a plate for the buffet. I'm betting that these things will improve with time. The biggest issue came with my wife's entree. My wife got the Croque Madame, and she asked if the egg could be served over-medium instead of sunny-side-up. The server said yes and thus my wife made the order. When the dish came out, the egg was sunny-side-up. My wife asked if the egg could be cooked more, and the server took it back to the kitchen. When the dish came back, they had cooked a new egg, but it was barely cooked more than the previous egg. The server informed us that the chef did not want to cook the egg any further for this particular dish. My wife just pushed the egg to the side as she did not want any runny yolk on her sandwich. Besides the egg, when my wife tried the ham in her sandwich, it was incredibly tough and had the consistency of jerky. I don't know if that is the intended way for the ham to be served, but I agreed with my wife that it was very unappetizing. I got the lox sourdough, and I took a picture of it which I'm including in the review. I thought my dish was fine. Overall, we were very underwhelmed with the brunch experience. My wife in particular was upset enough that I don't think she wants to come back again. I personally would be okay with trying the pizza again in the future, but not the brunch.

Disappointing pizza- crust was so soggy. The burrata app only came with a couple pieces of toasted bread- not enough to eat the app with, asked for more bread- took forever and they charged us $1 a slice…won’t bother coming back to eat but did enjoy the outside seating area, maybe grab a glass of wine with a friend.

I just went to crust this evening. My husband and I own a bar. If you are going to have a bar in your restaurant you need to have an actual bartender who knows how to make drinks that are actually on your menu and waiters and waitresses that know how to open a bottle of wine on half off bottles of wine night. The pizza was fine but I have definitely had better wood-fired pizza.

J
John Black

We’ve eaten at Crust at least a dozen times, and two things are universally true based on our experiences: 1. The food is delicious 2. The service is atrocious Forgotten orders, painfully lengthy wait times for bar drinks even on slow weeknights, everything arriving at once with no attempt to course anything out, servers disappearing for looong stretches…the list goes on, and don’t expect management to make things right when things inevitably go awry. As for now, the tasty ends (barely) justify the means. If Smashing Tomato starts serving cocktails, though, we’ll get our wood-fired pizza fix there and never look back.

A strange, disappointing first time visit. Dined there 6:30 Sunday evening with another couple. The place wasn't crowded. My wife and I planned to share a pizza and dinner salad (the menu features several salads at $12-15 each) but waitress, who was nice, informed us "no salads were available" because they had "run out of lettuce". (Really? There's a Kroger is right next door). When asked about the kale salad, she checked with the kitchen and informed us it was available. What was served, though, was just a pile of greens (not kale, probably spinach) without the cherry tomatoes or "crunchy parmesan streusel" described on the menu. We ordered three pizzas, "Margherita", "Murica" and "Original", to share, none marked as spicy on the menu, assuming the former would be OK for one of our group who's allergic to peppers. The pizza was tasty, but crusts of all three were so lip-burning spicy that three of us who enjoy reasonably spiced food could barely eat any. When asked why, our waitress explained the kitchen brushes crusts with a spicy pepper/herb butter which can be left off upon request (but no indication of such on the menu). My wife's glass of (nothing special) white wine was $14 for a rather skimpy pour - more like the expected cost at a high-end Lexington restaurant as opposed to this casual place. Bill for two 10" pizzas, 1 glass of wine, and a glass of water came to more than $60 including tax and tip. It had a $1 overcharge on one of the pizzas, which wasn't worth contesting at that point.
