The food here is absolutely incredible! I drive 80 minutes just to eat here—it’s 100% worth it every time. Carlos consistently provides outstanding service and truly exceptional customer care. Highly recommend this place!
This place has great food, but its ceviche is out of this world. I can say, without a doubt, that is the best Peruvian ceviche in Los Angeles (and I have been to many, many Peruvian restaurants in L.A.). I strongly recommend this place for anyone looking to enjoy a ceviche, and the rest of Peruvian food, like if you were eating in Lima.
This is a little gem! If you are not familiar with Peruvian cuisine, it is typically a fusion of the many cultures that have migrated to the South American country. In this case the main fusion at Kotosj is Japanese Peruvian. The menu ranges from saltados (fried rice with French fries in the dish) to sushi and rolls. All are amazing! One of my favorite dishes is the creamy shrimp soup! Traditionally prepared and is so rich and briney. Enough for a table of four. If you are nearby give this place a shot! You will not be disappointed.
I came here about 7 years ago, a good friend of mine brought me here and kept coming back. The tiradito de halibut because there are two versions of this and the Acebichado Roll is a must. And the arroz con leche or platanos. Try it and you’d keep coming back.
Our favorite spot in Lomita! This time we enjoyed their lomo saltado, jalea, some rolls and dessert. Our server was super friendly and very attentive, making us feel very comfortable at all times. This is where we come for comfort food, always good quality, fresh and delicious!
Such a great find!! Lilly was super knowledgeable & great with GF menu options/edits to accommodate my allergy. Peruvian fried rice and sushi rolls we ordered were all delicious. We will be back :)
Great food always ! I had the Jake’s Mixta and was great . Only comments the little calamari rings are useless too small too dry ! It was a take out order !
This is my favorite restaurant. I always order the cebiche mixto and the fried rice with seafood. There is something in the light green sauce because it is extremely addicting. The restaurant staff is among the friendliest people I've ever met. All the food I've ever eaten here is really made to perfection including the sushi. Expect to wait when they are busy, but it's worth it!
Visiting LA area and this restaurant was recommended. And told the lomo soltado dish was amazing. Of course that's what I ordered with beef tips option. OMG - the flavors were amazing. And the green chili sauce in the squeeze bottle - put that on everything! So much flavor in the dish and the presentation was great. My server was great and attentive but it took about 22 minutes for the food and that was irritating. Place was not crowded but server apologized (he saw disappointment in my face!) - said kitchen was backed up because of large carry out order. The dish was fantastic and can't wait until my next trip to SoCal.
Wow! This little restaurant tucked away in a strip mall is a paradise for Peruvian/Japanese food, and will become a frequent haunt on my trips to South Bay. Intimate, clean, prompt, friendly, and helpful all describe the atmosphere and service. Fresh, vibrant, balanced, and innovative describe the flavors of the dishes we tried. If you're looking for a quick date night place, or a fast lunch, I'd highly recommend Kotosh. The only caveat I'd add, is to bring a light jacket. The dining room was likely in the mid 60s, so a little bit brisk for dining, but that doesn't warrant not visiting, nor my subtracting a star from my review, because everything else was THAT good..
I have never tried Peruvian food before. But little did I know, my favorite food ceviche was actually a PERIVUAN FOOD?!?!?! Kotosh’s ceviche was the best I have ever had so far. In fact, my only excuse for not taking any pic of food in this place was due to TASTING SO GODD*MN GOOD. I’m returning this place. Definitely. Again. And again. And AGAIN!!!
A wonderful place with amazing food, we came here because the kids wanted sushi rolls while the grownups wanted Peruvian food, the selection was amazing the rolls are very creative with a Peruvian flair, we tried the Acivochado roll which by the name you can tell what it is, it was absolutely amazing and the other dishes were also great. Overall great food, fast and friendly service and definitely affordable. Highly recommended.
The food was good - flavoursome and delicious. The portion was quite large as well. The staff was nice and it was not very crowded in the evening.
Been coming here for over a decade. One of the hidden gems in the South Bay. Nothing fancy from the outside and the Interior has gone through a few renovations. Staff is as welcoming as ever and the food is delicious. My favorite dishes by far here are the Chicharron Mixto Al Ajo and the Tallarin Saltado. The green sauce is amazing here, I swear I almost finish a whole bottle everytime. I put that …. On everything. No joke. Chicharron is nice and crispy and a good mix of seafood from fish, squid, shrimp, and more. The garlic sauce is delicious. Though sometimes they make it a little too salty for me. But the crispy seafood, garlic sauce, rice, and green sauce to top it off is delicious. The Lomo Saltado is good, but I personally prefer the Tallarin Saltado. The noodles, onions, beef with green sauce is delicious. This boast we got the assorted sashimi. Excellent cuts and variety of fish. If you ever come with a large party, I recommend the chowders as well. Nice and creamy with lots of flavor.
Small quiet restraurant in a small strip in Lomita. I Love the Peruvian and sushi combo. Food and service was on point.
Delicious Peruvian good!! It’s one of my favorite restaurants! I absolutely love the food here you must try highly recommend! The waitresses are very attentive and kind as well.
The lomo saltado was delicious, the juices from the meat were absorbed into fries and tomatoes and made the dish really filling and warm. I really enjoyed how there were so many different textures in the dish and how well they all worked together.
One of the best restaurants I’ve tried so far. Decided to eat my country’s food today, I was in the mood!! If you’ve never tried Peruvian food, start here fs! I just wish that they can put Peruvian or Japanese ambient music because it would match the vibes more. The service is very nice. Big restaurant and it’s very comfortable. Large portions of food for sure. The papa alawan cayina was SOO GOOD. The avocado sushi rolls are amazing as well. I got tallarin saltado, OMGGGG IT WAS SO GOOD I SO RECOMMEND THIS PLACE U GOTTA TRY IT
We have been coming here for years it’s probably the only place that has not changed in this shopping center… the location is kind of hidden but the food there is good and the servers are the BEST, they are so accommodating!!!!! You will see they have some combos and if I am in the mood for a different side instead of white rice with my favorite chicken Saltado they will put whatever I ask for. They can mix and match for me I love them so much! The saltado is my go to. I don’t really get sushi there but I see a lot of people getting it and they say it’s always fresh :) I do love the ceviche it’s a fusion ceviche not your normal ceviche… try it. 100 stars for their service! Look at the size of this fried beef cutlet it’s literally too big for the plate and hanging off and this is a normal dinner plate it’s HUGE!!!!! I asked for a side of fried rice with it this will last me 3 meals I have an air frier so I can refry and make it crisp again at home. This is really good with any of their spicy sauces but I am weird I like it with soy sauce. Lol
First visit in given the food and service has made me a regular customer already. A true gem right in my backyard. Check this place out!
This place did not disappoint. I had this in my to do list for several years. Was in the neighborhood and the wife saids hey isn't this in your list? Heck ya it is! Fantastic sea food soup, had random rice bits in it so it felt like leftovers... Super tasty leftovers I have to say! Will order again! Had some sashimi, had a fried seafood platter. Even orders a sushi roll! OMG everything was very tasty! I wish this place was closer to my work, as I'll be there every chance I get! Kotosh gets my recommendation that's for sure!
Twoish decades? Well, at least one. And in restaurant years that is certainly a milestone, for * /the finest/ * Japanese PERUVIAN FOOD. This has to be freshest seafood caught off San Pedro. Now I have tried Helado de Lacuma, or: eggfruit ice cream. Creamy buttery caramel fresh. Pictured are as follows: halibut sashimi, wasabi and ginger, scallops roll NEW ITEM, eel roll with shrimp tempura and chimichurri NEW ITEM, pesto spaghetti enough to share with deep fried breaded chicken katsu, deep fried seafood with Peruvian red onion slaw, and lomo saltado beef tossed with tomatoes onions fries served with rice. For drinks there might be a Sapporo or Asahi, unless you prefer like I do a maracuya passionfruit or lemonade.
Delicious Peruvian restaurant! It's tucked away in a cozy strip mall. There is a small private parking lot. Upon entering, we were greeted by the friendly staff and quickly seated. There's a sushi bar with seating as well as plenty of tables. The ambience is nice and cozy with nice music. It's not too loud. The menu has two sections: Peruvian and Japanese. Both offer lots of options. Also has gluten free options. Our order was prepared quickly and everything was fresh and tasty. The presentation was also nice.
Was in the area and tried Kotosh for the first time, and so glad I did. Service was good and the food even better. An interesting mix of sushi and Peruvian food, but ends up being a unique and flavorful seafood experience. We mixed it up and got a little of both and had a great experience trying new things. For example, the sushi with cebiche sauce was a gamble, but so worth it. Really enjoyed, highly recommend and we'll be back again!

I googled this place that has good ratings and decided to try it out with my gf. She was very happy that they had a vegan option plate. She ordered the tofu saltado and it was delicious. 5/5 tofu..highly recommend this spot.
Such a great place with a great variety of sushi and peruvian food. Try the shrimp and seafood chupe... you won't be disappointed!

Didn't know what to expect at a Puruvian and sushi restaurant but was pleasantly surprised. Food is flavorful, and portions are not skimpy. The salmon skin salad is a good starter to share with 2 people. They have plenty of gluten-free options and a specific GF menu. You might have to push a little to get it brought to you ; I don't know if the waitress wasn't of it or just didn't want to go get it since she was busy but I had had read they have one, so pushed a little. Give yourself time to cross reference the titles to the main menu. Restaurant is noisy and we could hear all the concerations around us (especially the guy talking about as loud as he could on his phone :)). Lots of tables squeezed into the space - cozy but not uncomfortable. Parking is tight but there. Bottom line: will we go there again? Yes.
Great food - Japanese Peruvian. I typically order the chicken chaufa & lomo saltado which are both very good, especially with the green sauce. Came here for a birthday dinner party of 13, which included 5 kids (3 in high chairs). Made a reservation in advance asking for the space in the back, which was perfect. Food was timely and delicious. Staff was responsive and helpful with all requests. They also kindly refrigerated our cake and helped with the candle lighting.
Good food but one of the servers made us wait almost 20 min before they even offered us water.
Unique restaurant in the South Bay that offers Peruvian & Japanese food. In my opinion, it's less of a fusion and more of a place that just serves two types of food. Their Japanese food seems to just be American rolls. The taste was good, but nothing special. The service is friendly and fast. They sit in a plaza so there's free parking, although spaces can be somewhat limited. Prepare to pay $30-50 per person. Worth checking out.
This spot nails Peruvian-Japanese fusion. My husband is religiously loyal to the Lomo Saltado--according to him, it's the holy grail: great flavor, hearty portion, and best of all, they bring an entire bottle of the green sauce to the table (none of that tiny cup, pay-extra nonsense). I usually go for the seafood fried rice--can't remember the name, but it's always delicious and generously portioned (hello, doggy bag). If you've got room for dessert, try the helado de lúcuma--a tropical Peruvian ice cream with a SLIGHTLY mochi-like texture and a flavor that's oddly addictive. We always go during the quieter hours, and the service is as sweet as the dessert.

First timers at this restaurant. Great food, we always check the reviews before going to a restaurant; KOTOSH had good reviews and we decided to check it out, we decided to drive 30 miles to give it a try. We had ceviche mixto, it was ok, lomo saltado was good, meat cooked at medium, you could taste the flavor, piranha roll, Chupe de pescado was very good, a Sapporo beer and tried the Lukuma icecream all good. Pamela treated us like kings. Give it a try guys. $108 for all that food, my wife agreed, all that food somewhere else could have been more than $150. 100 % recommend.
I thought, Peruvian and sushi? What?? This is an ok place to visit. The food is ok and the location is ok. Ordered the lomo saltado beef and while the beef was cooked to my looking with a little pink, once the food cooled I realized there wasn't much flavor. Not in the beef or in the fries or the onions and tomatoes. So it tasted a bit bland. Overall ok, rating 6.7/10. The chicken katsu white meat was a good dish. The pasta had a really nice flavor profile and the chicken was fried to perfection. Still, there wasn't much flavor in the chicken but you do have the katsu sauce that makes up for it. Overall 6.5/10. The location was clean, the staff was nice. I would love to see more "Peruvian" in it. It feels a bit clinical. I wouldn't go back because it's far from me and it was just ok.

Hi I'm a master chef in French , Italian and Japanese.. I was having so many compliments about this restaurant so I gave it a try.. Usually I'm starting with oshinko - assorted pickled veggies...but they didn't have so I've ordered sashimi... Look at that sad plating and the fish.. They are using sushi cut instead of sashmi cut. Yes. Game is over. Just paid it and walked out... also their servers are super rude and ignorant also language barrier.... Definitely no go place in Torrance area...
I just returned from a family dinner at Kotosh in Torrance-Lomita. We have been enjoying dinners there for many years, however, our waitress at dinner tonight was unsatisfactory and had a bad attitude. The service and wait staff in the past were always accommodating, fun and pleasant. Tonight was not the case. I had to use the restroom after dinner and the bathroom did not have any toilet paper although the chart on the back of the door showed it was serviced. I asked about it twice to our waitress and she said it would be handled. Several minutes passed and the paper was not replaced… our waitress said she told someone to replace it, but it was not done. Finally asked again as it was not being taken care of. She pointed at the women’s only bathroom and told me to use that one, which I did as I had waited over 10 minutes. Absolutely no apologies for lack of basic service, then she had a very rude and negative attitude towards me when the check was delivered to our table as if I did something wrong!! What the heck is going on at Kotosh now? What used to be a nice and friendly restaurant has evolved into a place with bad vibes and negative attitude and lazy wait staff. I won’t be returning anytime soon and will tell me friends about the horrible treatment I received. You can do better!
Got food by delivery. Used to like this place in the past but it’s been too salty and over sauced lately with the pollo saltado. Didn’t finish the food. The plantains were a bit too burnt for me. Food 2. Maybe the food is better eaten there
