All of the food here is amazing and authentic in my opinion. You can hear them cooking in the kitchen and the food doesn't come out immediately. But the wait time isn't crazy, either. The staff is VERY helpful, patient and polite. I recommend any of their Island Specials, their recommended dishes on the white board, and their spam musubi. They just add a little spice to them that makes it hard to stop eating them.

What else can I say? A place that actually focuses on the star of the plate. The Sauce. When you say Teriyaki. It's like a good Mexican spot. If the salsa is good, the food is good. Louis is a master of the craft. His fresh made chili is the best on the planet for me. Your service is impeccable, and your attitude is one that should be emulated in every business. Amazing Kailua Pork plate! These are the same people who ran a grill in Los Alamitos on Katella Avenue. After losing their lease, we are so glad they found a new location. Don't miss out on trying the chicken salad as a side. Just wish you were closer to Orange County. Still, worth the stop when we are in their neighborhood.

Island Hut's location was easy to find and with affordable prices, perfect for large parties. There was 13 of us! Our friends from out of the country treated us all! I would like to reciprocate when they return to visit Southern California! Fish, pork, chicken, and other meals were fresh and tasty! Popular destination! Efficiently delicious! Really was impressed with the overall meal. We actually used to get catering from here, for a private school, and food was always good. But never happened to dine there myself. But recently stopped by and ordered their beef and ribs plate... and wow, their ribs got me hooked. Everything was great though and has definitely become a regular for me. Looking forward to stopping by again soon.

Salmon collar is my fave and a must have! They have big portions. They have the best sweet potato fries with a green yummy sauce! The bento box is awesome with different things in it. Try the teriyaki chicken sandwich! It has noodles inside and so tasty and yummy 😋 All their food are delicious! The workers are very friendly and accommodating! Definitely a place to go ! Very family friendly!!!

We have passed by this place quite a few times and one day we finally said hey let's try it. Boy what a good decision. There's a lot to choose from, the portion size is worth the slightly higher prices when compared to similar places, there's real chicken in the Chinese chicken salad you get on the side, and of course it all tastes great. They even have a stamp card for 1 free meal after 10. I've seen reviews of other Hawaiian restaurants nearby and they sometimes mention Island Hut as a better alternative. It's not hard to see why.

If you're close by to Island Hut then you're one lucky person. The food here is phenomenal, my sister and I tried the teriyaki salmon plate, the island fries, the Chicken katsu Sandwich, and the teriyaki beef plate with California rolls. Our favorite were the island fries, the teriyaki salmon plate and we really enjoyed every single bite of the chicken Katsu sandwich. Everything is made when you order. The staff is very quick to get your food out especially during the lunch hour. Check them out for sure.

Island Hut is a good place to eat they have Hawaiian and Asian food and even shaved ice. With limited outdoor seating if you buy 10 dinners you get one free dinner of your choice from the back of the business card that is stamped. They have all beef with rice and a combo of chicken and beef with rice you can bring the whole family kids 😷 to takeout orders you can call ahead or order postmate delivery.... when you're there ask for the green sauce that's good stuff....

Friendly and welcoming woman at the register. My teriyaki chicken and Chinese chicken salad came out quickly and fresh. The person size was ample. The flavors were on point. Even the salad(green leaf and iceberg mix) was not over dressed. The young lady never stopped helping customers and maintained the dining area between taking orders. Very pleased, I'll be back!!!

Been here before and decided to check it out again. Writing a good review this time. Me and my family love a good Hawaiian style restaurant. This place happens to be a fine one indeed. Our daughter loves Chicken Katsu and ordered their Katsu plate, My wife got their grilled chicken plate, and I got their grilled chicken and pork spareribs plate. Place is clean, organized, and our server Edgar was pleasant and friendly. He was extremely polite, professional and had a big smile. Hope you all get Edgar as your server!!! Everything was amazingly delicious. We even tried thier shaved ice🍧 That too was amazing. Loving our experience, we'll definitely be back here for more.

We got there at 7:50 on a Thursday and they closed at 8:00, so we had to eat it in our van. It was my first time there, and for $15 I got a drink and a large take out of Chinese chicken salad, rice, and teriyaki chicken. It was delicious, and enough left over for lunch the next day. I'll be back, but get there early to enjoy a sit down experience.

I had the Patty curry and the patty was Angus beef. It was very flavorful and juicy!!! The meal came with a dinner salad and the dressing was so good!! The rice that came with the dish was cooked to perfection! The meal was a very good size! The people who work there are so nice and accommodating! I would recommend this place for all people. My friends had a salmon poke bowl and she commented on how there was a lot of fish. We both agreed that the quality of the food was very good and worth the price you paid. If you are someone who only eats halal meat it is not there BUT you have many other choices.. there are many fish dishes and vegetable dishes. Do yourself a favor and check it out!!!

Absolutely fantastic Hawaiian spot. The portions are enormous and the prices are not! Getting a katsu curry the size of a sourdough loaf was great as well as the slab of katsu chicken. New place for me, although I drive by it several times a week. First visit I had the Chinese chicken salad and California roll combo. Chicken salad had a good amount of chicken and a flavorful dressing, but was all cabbage (no lettuce) - I’m used to lettuce or Napa cabbage so this was different… not bad just different. Came with 4 very large slices of calif roll - equivalent of 8 slices I’d get elsewhere. Being big there was more rice, but enough filling to balance it. Second visit was karaage (fried chicken) and Chinese chicken salad. Kargaae was a little dry, salad was like before. Also picked up Chinese chicken salad to go - got a small order that pretty big. The to go salad was lettuce based and my wife liked it. Good for a quick lunch. I’ll be back to try more of the extensive menu.

I've always passed by this place but always forget about it. I was with some friends who live in the neighborhood and suggested we come and eat here. So many choices on the board, I was a bit overwhelmed. I kept bouncing back between 3 or 4 dishes. I guess that just means I have to come back and try the others. I opted for beef teriyaki and egg rolls, I'm on the search for a greasy tasty egg roll 🤣. Although this was tasty, it wasn't greasy, which is good , I'm just on the search for a specific one (from childhood days) I will be coming back to taste the other dishes I had my eye on.

The food was good. Lots of selections. The customer service from one of the employees was less than desireable...That aside, it's a great place to chow down on some Hawaiian and Japanese flavors!

Food was so-so. I had curry katsu chicken with vegetables. The vegetables were pretty tasteless, but the curry itself was ok. My grandma and mother had the teriyaki beef with noodles and rice, which they said was ok, but my mother said the beef was salty. The girl who took our order was a bit rude, but the other girl there who helped me later and brought our food was very nice. Will probably visit again, if only to try some of the other things in the menu, which is pretty large, and the shaved ice.

The Teriyaki Chicken Special with the Chinese Chicken Salad so well prepared, fresh, crunchy and tasty. The Chicken Teriyaki with generous amount of meat, thick cut but on the dry. I also ordered Cheeseburger Combo. The burger was tasty, good thick burger, well seasoned. The onion rings and fries was average, it could use more seasoning. And it was already cold and limp when I got home. Overall a good first time experience. I'll definitely go back, this time dine to dine in.

Not friendly service at all. Teenagers at the counter are not happy to be working at all and they let you know it. Food was a letdown this time and we’ve been here a couple times and each previous time it was very good. Not sure if we will be back with so many other choice available all around us.

3 stars for quick service, cleanliness and presentation.... I ordered the "loco moco." My gravy was watery, hamburger patty lacked flavor, but overall, I'll be back! I just wont order the same meal....

This is an average Hawaiian style restaurant. The food is prepared and seasoned well. Nothing special. However, they do give you a lot of food with plenty of rice and cabbage with your order. They will bring the food to your table, but the drinks are self-serve and you bus your table. That's why the service was rated at 2.

I heard good things about this place so I went and ordered three different things spending around $67. I received no napkins no utensils and at 7:45 they told me I was no longer to eat inside but to go order which I didn't mind more so I didn't receive any napkins or utensils and I had to ask him three times for Sriracha and ginger. Not a happy customer after leaving a tip.

The teriyaki was very Salty and the chicken and beef was over cooked and dry. First and last time. The green sauce was amazing and helped with the dry protein!!

My husband and I love Hawaiian food and so we decided to stop at Island Hut on Thursday. I ordered the Orange Chicken Special and my husband ordered the Rib special. Even though service was fast, we were sadly disappointed in the food. The Orange Chicken was tough and not at all tasted like what orange chicken should taste like. The Rib special tasted like it was cooked too long - the meat was tough. Usually we go to our favorite place in Gardena, but Island Hut was close by and so we stopped. Unfortunately, we will not stop here again.

Ordered 3 teriyakis (over $40 worth) and no sauses were given. A girl at the front said they don't come with sauce. What? 3 boxes squashed in sheer plastic. They just fell to the side in a car and all food leaked out of the boxes. Unbelievable. And it was worst beef teriyaki ever I have eaten. Salty, hard beef, marinated too much for over a long time. It was just like beef jerky with over-cooked rice (Mush rice) and the salad was not fresh at all, tasted like 2 days salad. Terrible service, attitude and bad foods. Just a shame they do restaurant in my neighbor.

The take forever to serve you food,,it takes more than 30 hr for a chicken sandwich,,, I don't come here again

Very sloppy Service. We ordered island fries and they made a mistake and gave us regular fries. We then go buy the island fries .. super heavy oily fries .. not even crispy. The Shreded pork was dry. The resister person brings their food out and sits in the middle of the restaurant and just eats on her break. Pricey food and bad quality food.
