刷新了我对英国料理的认知!Brunch真心推荐!definitely will be back again ! The big-beard-staff was really charming and energetic. He recommended dishes to us. I ordered traditional British brunch and it was so delicious and really worth the price! My friend ordered chicken and Kimchi, which were also really good.

Great place, very atmospheric, with excellent beef steaks and fish. To drink Foxlow offers really fancy and delicious drinks and shots. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend!

Dropped in on a quiet summer Sunday. V friendly staff, great recommendations for food and drink. Try the spiced, roasted cauliflower with a glass of Riesling.

A group of us went for a girls dinner last night and the food was incredible - tasty, fresh and at an affordable price. We loved the vibe and the waiters were friendly and attentive. This ticks all the boxes and we cant wait to go back

A lovely dining experience. Fantastic food served by funny and attentive staff! Would recommend the Ribeye! Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Great Sunday brunch. Portions were just right, old classics with a small twist.

Thank you for amazing hospitality and equally amazing food. Chipolata had a great time ;) Happy Valentines Day!

Well priced steaks and the crispiest fried chicken. Delicious!

Absolutely delicious! Great options, especially the vegan. Would thoroughly recommend

Whilst people go hear for the steaks (which are very good) it also has a good selection of fish and other food. A buzzing Clerkenwell restaurant at lunch time attracting a varied crowd. Service is friendly and sufficiently attentive. The wine list is good enough.

This vegan gluten free meal was the best I have had in a restaurant over the past two years. The food was wonderful, from starter to pudding. And - I wasn't charged a fortune for some veg and beans. They have more that I could have ordered if I had visited on another day. Hurray for a chef who takes vegan cooking seriously!!

A fairly small place tucked away in the side streets around the Barbican. Good relaxed atmosphere and great tasting food (steak at the upper end of best steak ever eaten). Didn't get to dessert as I was so full from everything else (I couldn't let my wife's steak go to waste). A little more expensive than usual, but I guess pretty average for London with drinks. Pleasantly surprised!

Genuinely wonderful restaurant. I went there twice last week! The Sunday roast is to die for. Huge cut of roast beef, perfectly cooked. Wonderful gravy and big yorkshire - what more could you want! The steak here is fantastic too - as you would imagine. Beautifully cooked, good french fries and a nice selection of wines to pair it with too (but if you go on a Tuesday you can bring your own drinks in!) My friend got the sea bream which looked marvelous too. Will definitely be going back there soon! Although it's always been heaving when I've gone, I've never had to book - they've gone the extra mile to squeeze me in

I stumbled on this place by chance and I'm so glad I did. I don't know how they would describe their cuisine, but all I can say is it's very good. The restaurant is deceptively large and there is an ample selection of steaks, burgers, fish, etc on the menu, as well as some good wines and stuff for the kids, like Arnold Palmers. I recommend the fried chicken burger!

Excellent knowledgeable service. Really great steak and some good red, well recommended by the waiter. Followed up by a properly indulgent but not excessive chocolate tart. The Italian dessert wine was excessive but well worth. Smelt of mince pies. All delicious.

Lovely modern British cuisine. Book before to save disappointment, get there for 5pm to 7pm for £5 cocktails; I loved the ginger beer and bourbon one. Food is adventurous and fulfilling, nice size portions and yummy desserts. Well priced and good value for money, also great decor and friendly staff. Defo coming back.

Steak is steak right?.....how wrong I was. My colleague suggested we have lunch here and I'll be forever grateful. Good portions but the food is cooked to perfection. The quality of meat shines through as the flavours were amazing

S

Really great food and fantastic service. If anything, the portions are a little too big - I went for the Fried Chicken which was tasty but 2 portions would have been plenty rather than 2. The service stood out though - the waiter was really attentive, friendly and made sure we were happy at all times.

Genuinely the best meal (including dining experience) I have had during my 6 months in London... and I eat out 2-3 times a week. Ribs to start, Steak for Main, Sticky Toffee Pudding to finish... straight up 10/10. My friend had the Indian Sea Bream, which was fantastic. Perfectly cooked & spiced. The sweet Potatoe & Kale side is on another level - get 2! Food: 10/10, reasonably priced for the quality Service: 10/10, attentive & friendly - thank you, lovely redhead from New York. Drinks: 10/10 although a little pricey, great selection of craft beer/ale & a good top shelf Atmosphere: 10/10, good vibes & nice decor Get your table booked! Tom & Mat

We were there just before Christmas. This was our favorite meal while in London & we happened on the restaurant by accident. The drinks are yummy, the staff is incredibly warm and friendly, and we had the best steak dinner. The staff seemed to think that our food was taking too long, and kept apologizing, they just didn't realize what a nice evening we were having, we didn't mind one bit (we didn't even notice)!

K

Great atmosphere with delicious food. My friend says the burger is one of the best she's had since moving to England a year ago. And the fries were amazing! A little spendy, but typical for London.

I visited the Foxlow Clerkenwell yesterday with around 14 friends for a brunch. I'd found the menu online and knew it would be a hit with my friends. I arrived a little late but was glad to see that my guests had no issue with being seated at the table and starting to make their way through the cocktail menu before we were served by Valeria. She was fun, helpful, patient and offered a great experience to us all. The food was served quite quickly despite the large group, and we were pleasantly surprised to be served at the same time - no delay at all! The general consensus is that we all loved the food and drink and prices were competitive. We'll certainly be back again soon.

Great brunch place! The place and staff is so friendly (especially after a few drinks of prosecco! They keep serving us :D ). We liked the food (the veggie and meatie brunch, the smoked salmon and leeks+potatoes). Great facilities and atmosphere. Only downside is it took some time to get the food. Would come back!

Food here is delicious, and a huge bonus is the free-flow coffee for brunch on the weekend. I have also been impressed by their puddings when coming here on dates. However, the environment makes conversation a little difficult, as it is very trendy and therefore attracts larger, louder groups.

C

Food is delectable. Place is cozy. Servers didn't know their wine menu but the wine we selected was really good. Locally sourced food for the most part which is great. Good for meat eaters. One vegetarian option. Thought for London the prices were good.

S

Cannot fault the food but service was a little slow at times.....to be fair they were busy at lunchtime. But don't let that put you off, definitely worth a visit!

Really good brunch here! The waffle and chicken is delicious! You better get a reservation here, it's very popular!

Short menu, but what is on the menu is delivered to a high standard by friendly staff. Great atmosphere and would recommend this for any type of meeting. Love the burgers

Pretty good spot for weekend brunch. They are open until late afternoon, food is pretty good and the cocktail menu is interesting and well done

Family meal for 8. They accommodated us on a large table. Good drinks service with decently priced wine. Salmon starter was excellent but others were disappointed with the Brixham squid - a little tasteless! However many of us moved on to the burger which was delicious. We would go back just for this. The dining room is great with a lively vibe.

J
John Castle (JC)

Good food, good beer, really good steak. The set menu was what we went for, and they were even willing to accommodate for a vegan diet, and the child in our group. Went on a Friday night and was half expecting it to be rammed, but was pleasantly surprised to find it wasn't.

We paid approximately £35 per head for a 2 course meal in the middle of the menu. The menu is quite small so there's not much opportunity for sharing meals and is slightly skewed to meat lovers but there are veg and fish options. The food is well prepared though presentation could do with some attention and in our group there was several reports of over salting. The drinks menu is extremely limited for beer though wine fares a little better. My first beer request was not available, the second choice came in a 330ml can, they don't do draught and the beer is nothing to write home about and not terribly good value for money. The staff were friendly and reasonably efficient and considerate. The kids meals and starters arrived in good time for a group of about 20 as did the mains - though we had to pre-order everything including sides. The atmosphere is a bit lacking but reasonably relaxed and pleasant. It was quiet for a Sat afternoon but perhaps Faringdon and Old Street attract more diners.

Popped in with a friend to take advantage of the £15 burger/chips/cocktail combo and while it was good value, the burger was overcooked and dry. Stayed for some sticky toffee pudding and it’s a similar story: overcooked and chewy. I’m guessing it’s an off day; the flavours were great but let down on cooking quality.

K
Katie Erbs

Really disappointed to see the salmon off the menu. Tried the sea bream instead, but it just didn't stack up (the cucumber chili slaw was great but the fish was just okay). Stick to the meat dishes as those seem to be great and unchanged. Sweet potatoes were great. Bring the salmon back please, if it ain't broke don't fix it!

Tasty food, and a nice menu. I had the squid and then a chicken burger with avocado which was huge and really nice. The waiters were fast and polite. The vibe was nice with a nice authentic atmosphere Would happily visit again!

We had a great lunch here. The starters were really tasty. Great salad and those little meatballs were great. Good service and a solid choice of wine. Not too pricey either and lovely decor inside. Will be back for more.

I’d give it 4.3 star, commensurate with the current average. Lovely friendly cool approachable staff - a real pleasure to deal with. Our party of 6 was served in different roles by at least 4 people in their respective efforts, and all were a pleasure to deal with - professional and friendly. The atmosphere and decor are all lovely and very Clerkenwelly. I love the location and ease of booking a 6 people Sunday roast. The choice of drinks is great. The food menu is just right, to my taste. I am ducking one star for the saltiness of my chicken roast. Our kids said “don’t come to a steak place for chicken”, and yet I said “oh how hard can it be to roast up a banging chicken!”. We’ve had a burger, a steak, a veggie dish and a chicken Sunday roast. All were excellent, the portions and the garnishing of the dishes all just right. If only my chicken that was otherwise juicy and crispy-damn-perfect wasn’t over-salted. Oh well. Still a fantastic local little Sunday spot!

Great food experience. Every single dish we ordered was absolutely delicious. Would like to have given them 5 stars, but the lighting was a bit to dark and air conditioning where we sat a bit to cold. But of a loud place to have a quiet romantic diner, but the food is to die for.

B

Really enjoyable Sunday lunch. Cooked to order, using obviously high quality ingredients. Good portion size and price on par with many pubs. Would have been five star if the very good service had been a bit quicker and more attentive, and if my roast chicken and accompanying gravy wasn't quite so heavily salted.

Modern European restaurant with focus on chicken and steak. Good seafood, vegetarian options available. Unusual desert options; ovalatine mouse. Wide selection of reasonably priced wines and a large number of non standard bottled beers/ lagers. Very friendly service. Very busy, Saturday 18.00 onwards, may need to reserve to get in.

J
Javier Alaves

At first, the restaurant was really noisy and as a group of 5 we could barely hear each other. We sat down for dinner at 9:20, and the food arrived at 10:40. Anna, our waitress, was very kind apologizing several times for the delay, got us a snack in between and free desserts. The food itself was pretty good (even though we expected a little larger of a portion for the price). Thanks to Anna, this will be a 3/5 review!

J
John Walsh

Tries hard. Friendly service but the special burger is brought in so you can't have it medium rare. Thought portions rather small and they add the service onto the bill. Drinks are reasonable. Just personal quibbles but took the edge of eating here for me.

Visited here for lunch with work. The food was excellent, as I would expect for the price. Good choices for a variety of dietary requirements also. However, the service was quite slow considering the restaurant wasn't full, and we were overcharged by £30. The staff sorted it, but weren't particularly apologetic. Probably won't be back.

A lovely neighborhood restaurant with a constantly changing menu with good cuts of meats served with many options for sides. Reasonably priced and staff are very friendly and knowledgeable they have possibly one of the best bars on the south end of St John Street. Keep an eye out for the high value happy hour. The atmosphere is very relaxed and homely, the decor though a little tired in some places is very rustic and industrial. The chairs are comfortable and the number of tables is about right for the space and they do not try to stuff too many diners in to the space. The glassware is of good quality and well paired with the drinks served. Cutlery and plates are par for the course and about right for this price point. Great for a Sunday roast definitely in the top 5 best roasts in this area it's worth booking in advance.

2017 update: The 2017 visit, probably being the last one for a while, was a bitter disappointment. The new menu turned this wonderful steakhouse with a great wine list into mass market, overpriced poor quality meat restaurant. While the chicken and ribs are ok, the beef is of astoundingly poor quality. No more deckles, or other amazing cuts. Instead you get watery plain beef that might as well be from Tesco. I guess the new direction chosen by the management is towards appeasing girls nights out and large gathering of people who after having a lot of cocktails don't care about quality of dish they get. Speaking about beverages I must say that the new wine menu is probably the most disgraceful I've seen so far for a place that dares to call itself a "steakhouse". I have to mention that the only reason for 2 stars instead of one is that the service is still great and the staff tries really hard to make you feel comfortable. 2015 review: Great atmosphere, wine list, staff and food. Probably the best steak in London. Also they do very nice Bloody Mary's

Customer service is terrible. Food was ok, but disappointing. We wanted to try it as part of the London Restaurant Festival. The booking system wasn't working and said to call the restaurant. We did and were told to book directly on the website, which we did. When we got to the restaurant we told them what happened and we were told it was all good. We had to wait at the bar for the table, so we ordered cocktails. We were eventually shown to our table where we were told we couldn't use the offer because we hadn't booked it on the festival's website. After explaining everything, we got a 'sorry' and a shrug... as we were starving and had the cocktails to finish, we decided to order food. I got the Foxlow burger which was overcooked and cold. My boyfriend got the roast chicken, which he liked. The sticky toffee pudding was very good. All in all, very average.

Great looking restaurant with friendly staff. However there were 9 of us dining, but no-one was satisfied with their food. I ordered the chicken burger for £14, although it looked like a generous burger, it tasted bland and the majority of it was batter. The extras you can add to it for what you get are overpriced. I would go as far to say that a £4.50 burger from KFC is a lot more satisfying than this. Majority of the reviews appear to be based on the steaks, which I did not try but I guess that is what the restaurant might be good at. Other dishes on my table were the salmon, which was an incredibly small portion with a few potatoes hidden under the fish. Desserts were quite nice. Overall not a restaurant I would go back to.

Kelvin So

It's probably a good pub but definitely not a good restaurant. Potato dumplings tasted awful and were no flavour at all. Fried dumpsticks were soso and just like fast food.
