I visited Angler twice for lunch in 2025, and both visits were very good experiences. The dining room is elegant and calm, filled with natural light and a relaxed, understated sense of luxury. It’s an ideal setting for focused, precise cooking without feeling formal or intimidating. On both occasions, the tasting menu was excellent. The dishes were well balanced and clearly seafood-led, with clean flavours and very careful execution. Everything felt cohesive from start to finish, with particularly strong fish courses — precise, restrained, and confidently cooked. Service was consistently polished and professional, with good pacing and clear explanations. Wine service was handled thoughtfully and complemented the food well. Overall, Angler delivers exactly what one expects from a Michelin-starred restaurant: consistency, technical skill, and a calm confidence throughout. Both lunches were thoroughly enjoyable, and it’s a place I would happily return to again.
Probably one of the best meals I've had this year. Before you even decide what you are going to try you get three little appetisers which get you excited for the rest of the meal to come. We tried the tasting menu and it didn't disappoint. Each dish was expertly plated and beyond delicious (this includes the warm freshly baked bread.) My favourite was the tuna tartare but all of the dishes were wonderful. The service is attentive and well timed; the pace is relaxed without feeling drawn out. You never feel rushed when eating there is an attention to detail that makes dining here special.
Absolutely outstanding. Food was immaculate. Tuna tartare - the tuna was very meaty and had some lovely asian ingredients around it. I loved the ginger on it. Lobster raviolo - I had the lobster raviolo at restaurant Gordon Ramsay a few years ago and this one wins by a mile. The sauce was rich but light, it complimented the lobster so well. There was a slight kick to the sauce and lovely aroma of Thai basil. It was just so yummy. Sea bass with roaster carrots - excellent fish, cooked with super crispy skin. The elements around it were to die for - especially the sauces. “Surf and turf” cod and chicken - mindblown by this dish and all the elements around it. Smothered in a stunning sauce with lovely ceps mushrooms. The desserts again, were just so amazing. We had a sorbet with plum and jelly as a palette cleanser. It had popping candy which was a super fun element. Fig pavlova with a cinnamon sponge at the bottom, again great elements with it. Chocolate cremeaux was a great finish to the meal. So many textures and although it was 70% dark chocolate on the bottom, it wasn’t overpowering how some chocolate desserts tend to be. All the flavours were well rounded and balanced. Thank you to the FOH staff for taking care of us so well. We will definitely be back.
Had a beautiful dinner at The Angler to celebrate our anniversary and engagement. The staff were informative and attentive. The food was beautifully presented and had unique flavours. Would recommend!
Truly enjoyed the tasting menu. Wonderful in every detail. Generous portion or, in fact, this is setting a good standard that any restaurant needs to give the dish substantial form and food to eat in order to taste and enjoy when providing a multiple course tasting menu. Lobster ravioli was my favourite. Pasta was al dente, and lobster meat inside was full of flavours and textures. The lobster bisque had a Thai style hint to it and some vege at the bottom to balance it out. Lamb main with the lamb sausage was a bit too strong in taste for me, but I liked it for the fact that the tasting menu was an experience to try out the chef's specialities. The pre-dessert was phenomenal and was my second favourite for this menu. Welcome snacks and petit four had shown the chef had put in a lot of effort and creativity to make the meal memorable and fun.
This restaurant is now on my top list! I cant recommend this place enough, starting with the food which is so beautiful to see and delicious to eat. Drinks are fantastic and the service is calm and friendly. Will come back soon!
Best meal we have in London during this trip! We chose to come here because despite their Michelin star, they have choice of "tasting menu" or "a la cart". And we did not regret. Impressed with every dish especially their courtesy appetizers, very interesting and delicious. We would love to come back if we have a chance.
We went À la carte as I wanted to have the Turbot main. The sommelier was fantastic, pairing the wines with the dishes we chose. The plates were presented beautifully and tasted just as good. I thought it was suitably priced.
Fantastic experience with the tasting menu. The staff were extremely attentive and friendly with our kids. The som was very delightful.
A 5 star Michelin starred hidden gem in the heart of the City! Excellent service, a relaxed vibe, great menu, food presented beautifully, incredible flavours. I have been to dinner there as a couple and returned as part of a group for a private dining experience. Excellent wine menu.
Some of the best food I’ve had in the UK. I was extremely impressed with Angler, I was a bit worried as our group had a set menu as I can be a bit picky but wow, I kept trying things and was just so impressed with how much flavor everything had. It was nice having the chef come explain every dish but we still had no idea what we were eating with some dishes. Partially because of his accent but also likely largely because of the different names and foods that we just don’t know.
We had the best time celebrating a birthday dinner! Among the best service we’ve ever experienced in a London restaurant. Food was amazing and the testing menu is definitely a good choice. For 2 ppl the bill ended up £430+ which we thought was fair - wouldn’t go everyday obviously but it’s great for a special occasion!
Ok, you'll need to take out a second mortgage, but the food is exquisite. Closer to art than simply a meal. We went at lunch: the restaurant was less than half full but still had a nice atmosphere. Great terrace overlooking the neighbouring offices. Took the tasting menu: 7 courses plus 3 rounds of amuse bouche, that took us over 4 hours to enjoy. No accompanying wine flight on offer.
Well thought through and well presented dishes! The place is not too crowded, and luckily relatively quiet. Finally a Michelin experience that one does not need to book weeks in advance.
Rooftop restaurant with terrace on top of the South Place Hotel. Thus us a Michelin star restaurant and it didn't disappoint. We went on a Thursday evening and it was pretty quiet, we took drinks on the terrace which was open although it was cold the roof was up and the windows down so with some throws was quite pleasant. They have an extensive drinks menu with gins etc. We had the 6-course tasting menu and it was without fault. The service was amazing and the sommelier recommended some great wines. Service was swift to the point where there was little time between courses, but as we had to get back it was fine, and stayed at the table after for more wine so didn't feel rushed
Amazing food! Never miss a chance to stop in on a Michelin restaurant when I’m traveling and I thought I’d try this one. The tasting menu was incredible. Very seafood focused which I loved, you won’t find chicken here. Interesting takes on slaw, squid, cod, and more. Great wine pairings as well, and service was highly attentive and top notch. Well done!!
We went there for lunch on a Friday. They don't have lunch menu so same menu all day. Tasting menu is £155 and à la carte is also available. We want to try turbot fish Which is not on the tasting menu so we went à la carte -two appetizers and two mains. Prawn and squid ink cracker is really tasty and little spicy on the top. The Devon crab is really fresh with wasabi and lime. The Langoustine's succulent texture and rich truffle taste mix together omg so good. The turbot's tender and flaky just melt in my mouth. The monkfish with winter cabbage is also not bad. There are some complementary sweet at the end. Overall the service is excellent. It remains MICHELIN-starred Restaurants' level. It is one of the best seafood restaurants in London. I would love to come back.
Had the tasting menu for lunch. Absolutely exceptional cooking from start to finish. Gary’s food shines with every dish- can’t recommend more, get yourselves down here. Impeccable service from Jo and Daniele. Thanks so much we can’t wait to come back 👊
We had the tasting menu, with wine pairings, which I can't recommend highly enough! It was our first visit to a Michelin restaurant, and all the staff made us feel at home quickly. The pace of dinner was great; with seven courses, we were left looking forward to the next course while never feeling overly full, but left not wanting more. One of the surprising highlights was the bread and butter! The caramelised yeast and malt butter was stunning. The wines offered a lovely selection of white pairings. The wine pairings were a great way to explore some wines for my guests, with there being a varied selection of tasting profiles. The atmosphere was quiet for a Friday night in London. There were never more than five tables on at any one time.
A delightful tasting menu full of fresh seafood. I am especially happy with the citrus and herbal flavors that played complementary roles with the fish, crab, and langoustine. By far the standout dish was the fresh codfish. It was fluffy, flaky, lightly buttery, and immaculate. Our dinner party was sure that it was the best cod fish we have tasted ever. A very close call was the crab with lime sorbet. The flavors were just astounding and invigorating. It made me celebrate with giddiness on the spot. Service was excellent with our party left with nothing wanting.
Fantastic place to eat. Food is incredible - fresh, and beautiful cooked, all showcasing the seafood. The dishes are all so unique and beautifully plated. The service is impeccable. The only downside is that the table I was given was right next to the service station and kitchen, so it could get a bit noisy/disruptive.
Enjoyed our 3 course lunch menu on Easter Friday at Angler (1 ⭐️ Michelin). We used our TravelZoo voucher (£55 per person including a glass of wine) On the 7th floor. Excellent service also. We were served with several amuse-bouche. We enjoyed the bread, sea bass tartare and the cod. The dessert was excellent too. Would come back for their dinner tasting menu. I shall reappraise again.
Beautiful window view. Flavor is outstanding. To an Asian stomach, it is mild in sauce but brings enough flavor to the taste bud. Ingredients are mainly seafood and taste fresh. Not cheap, but the Michelin star is worth some budget. I will come back.
Absolutely exquisite! 8 course tasting menu was one to remember. It’s also rare to find a Michelin star restaurant in London with such great lighting and a view. 10/10 would recommend.
Located in South Place Hotel on the rooftop floor, Angler is a 1* Michelin fine dining restaurant and imo, deservedly so. Friendly service in relaxed surroundings on the outdoor terrace, attention to detail, tried their taster menu, and found some interesting and beautifully well presented dishes and flavours served at timely intervals.
Such a great experience with food and service. Especially sommelier's recommendation was perfect for the seafood. And Spyros provided warm and professional service. If I come back to London again, I want to have an opportunity to enjoy the tasting menu.
Went to celebrate a joint birthday and we were given a private table with a view of the kitchen which was a lovely surprise. We got the 6 course tasting menu which was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. Our group has a lot of dietary requirements so we were very happy as they made adjustments to the tasting menu to suit all of us. Would highly recommend for the atmosphere and the food!
WOW! What an amazing tasting menu we had here yesterday evening. I absolutely loved the langoustine dish, and the seabass tartare. Monkfish dish was also beautiful my partner loved it. Along with the caramelised onion tart canapé. The food here and the service is outstanding Thank you so much. My birthday was very special.
Sitting at the top of South Place Hotel, Angler is a Michelin-starred restaurant with a nice rooftop terrace. As expected, it is showcasing the best seafood from British waters. Menu features seasonal, carefully sourced ingredients, producing truly picture-perfect plates. Amazing experience, understanably not cheap but worth every penny. Food and service definitely worth Michelin Stars. We've had a tasting menú at £120 pounds a head. All the dishes were exquisit. Taste, presentation and service were 5 star in every sense. Most recommended for any possible special occasion or as a lovely gift for your loved ones.
Simply a stellar dining experience. Lovely restaurant, excellent service, really wonderfully prepared dishes. I enjoyed the tasting menu, which offered one gustatory delight after another. Highly recommended!
Sublime service from front of house. Highly recommend the tasting menu for the first time. Tried this with the addition of scallops, which were divine. Possibly one of the most exciting tastings we've had in a long time. It took your palette and senses on a journey of flavours and textures. Curious in the most delightful way and delicious in every sense of the word. Great selection of ingredients for summer. The cocktails were also excellent, even from their specials to your recognisable signature drinks. 10's across the board and understandable why they've earned their michelin star.
Tried the 6 course tasting menu for £65. The combination of flavours was exquisite with all the dishes, especially the tuna tartare and the melt in your mouth cod. The service was impeccable from all the staff and the atmosphere was relaxed but classy, entirely worthy of a Michelin star restaurant. All in all, it was a beautiful experience and I would definitely go back again, especially with free corkage on Monday and Tuesday lunchtimes!
Absolutely stellar food and service with a fantastic sommelier. We did the Christmas Day prix fixe with wine pairing and it was one of the best meals of our lives (top five for sure). Located on the top floor, the dining feels airy despite the small space and luxurious without being overly stuffy.
We very much enjoyed our 3-course lunch menu at Angler. We were served by Hermes, who was very friendly and informative about the gastronomic delights, just like all other members of staff while we were there. Apart from the 3 courses we ordered, we were served an amuse to start off and 2 little tasty cakes at the end. All the meals had sophisticated combinations of flavors which created a wonderful balance of original tastes. Needless to say we enjoyed the food very much. At £ 34, we feel great value is being offered for the star cuisine you receive. We also enjoyed the wine. Highly recommened, I would do this lunch all over again when I find myself in the city quarters of London and who knows, maybe I would travel to London again for a lunch opportunity at Angler ;)
Angler truly delivered a Michelin Star experience. Everything was outstanding. The service and menu knowledge was exceptional all the way through. The room was comfortable and tables carefully placed. Every course was an incredibly and delicate burst of flavours in each mouthful. We had the tasting menu with matched wines and it is a must to experience. This is almost a hidden gem and must be shouted about. The team here are perfect. Thank you for a great memory.
Absolutely incredible experience at Angler! If I could give this place 10 stars for service, I would! My partner and I enjoyed a delicious meal at this restaurant to celebrate an occasion. We were absolutely blown away by the attentiveness of all the staff, especially our waiter George. He struck the perfect balance between knowledgable, caring, and fun/goofy to lighten the mood! John and Serge, the sommeliers, helped us select delicious wines to pair with our meal. A lovely touch was helping us swirl our wine glasses before serving the wine. Mladen, Pierre, Jovine, Chardonnay, Jeshika, and Moira (sorry if typos) were also great. Huge A*** to the team! Every dish was delicious and the exact kinds of flavours we wanted to eat. Nothing too weird and avant-garde, which is honestly refreshing these days. Just great flavours. We ordered the signature tasting menu which left us stuffed to the brim, so don't worry about leaving hungry! My only criticism of the restaurant is the decor. At 12 years old, the restaurant's design is definitely showing its age. However, our seats were comfortable, table linens were pressed neatly, and everything else was great! Thank you, team!
We had a fabulous six course tasting menu. The main course of cod was probably the best fish we have ever tasted. Service was exceptional - professional, efficient but with a perfect blend of friendliness. A special mention for Serge, the sommelier, who was very engaging and knowledgeable. A superb evening capped off with a chat with the chef. Exceptional.
I normally rate restaurants by how delicious their food is, but this is the first time where I have found service to truly make a difference. We went there for our anniversary night and Mladen and his team were amazing hosts and made our night feel extra special. The food of course was incredible too. Overall, an amazing experience!
The restaurant is located on the 7th floor of the South Place Hotel, just a short walk from Liverpool Street or Moorgate tube stations. After taking the lift up, we were greeted by the maître d’ and shown to a banquette table for two. Unfortunately, a large private dining group nearby created a lot of noise, which made conversation quite difficult. The ambience was otherwise very pleasant—particularly with the rain outside trickling down the slanted window panes, adding to the atmosphere. The long, stylish dining room features an impressive metal-designed ceiling that catches the eye. We had the “Taste of Autumn” menu: a three-course set menu with complimentary champagne (£55), with supplements for certain dishes. Bread Course Potato & polenta sourdough with whipped brown butter – as expected, very good. Starter Tuna Tartare With ginger dressing, toasted sesame, and pepper purée. An excellent dish—fresh, vibrant, and distinctly Asian in flavour, with the sesame and ginger complementing the tuna beautifully. Main Pork Belly Served with smoked celeriac, Morteau sausage, and puy lentils. The pork was cooked to perfection: tender meat, crisp skin, just enough fat, and accompanied by a delicate apple note and a lovely sauce. The lentils and crackling added great texture. (Scottish Cod with caramelised cauliflower, lovage, and chicken butter sauce was available with a £15 supplement, but we did not try this.) Dessert 70% Chocolate Crémeux With milk chocolate nougat and salted caramel cream. Outstanding—one of the best chocolate desserts I’ve had: rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced. Extras Three petits fours rounded off the meal nicely. Drinks & Service Service throughout was attentive and friendly. The complimentary champagne (Piper-Heidsieck) was a welcome touch. Overall Almost a perfect evening: excellent food, well-presented courses, stylish surroundings, and good service. The only downside was the intrusive noise from the private event, which significantly impacted the otherwise refined atmosphere.
Pretty good experience of tasting menu, specialised on seafoods, with great view and atmosphere of the restaurant. All the amuse bouche had a very strong taste, not sure if it was necessary if the mains are mostly fish, only one of the bites were still memorable. Very good appetisers, great sauces and uses of asparagus was impressive. Mains were great too, especially cod was my favourite, so soft yet firm meat with great flavour, was a fantastic piece. Desserts were just average. Service was very quick as the restaurant was very empty, the waiters/waitress had a strong accent which made hard to understand when they were describing the dish, which is not a big deal however they could have smiled a bit more often as it felts very cold. Overall, was expecting more from this restaurant but I guess the standard of 1 Michelin star has gone down which is disappointing.
Tried the set lunch menu here with a friend and it was quite a fun little experience overall! We had the last reservation slot before they closed up to prep dinner so we enjoyed a very nice and quiet atmosphere looking out at the dreadful rain outside, and the staff were all very nice and friendly. We also ordered the Devon crab starter separately and that was honestly the very best thing we tried that day— we debated ordering another one before we left and if we ever came back I would order it again without hesitation. For the lunch menu, it was generally very fun to devour everything in one bite, though I will say for a seafood restaurant, I preferred my duck ravioli over the John Dory (though it was the reverse for my friend). It’s generally not very fish-forward I found, which I guess is a shame because the crab from their a la carte menu was just SO good and the lunch menu doesn’t really reflect that. The desserts were just a tad too sweet, however, and really not the best note to end the meal on. We had a wine pairing which I did drink but didn’t think much of— but I’m not a wine person so who knows? I also ordered a cocktail which was very good. Overall, if you want a fun upmarket multi-course menu experience, I WOULD recommend this place, but maybe manage your expectations and order extras off the a la carte!
They were super cautious about my son's allergy and offered some safe nice food for him. We had their tasting menu and each portion was small but really beautifully presented and we were quite full by the end of the course. Looking forward to visiting again.
The restaurant set in a very convinient location, the lift takes you directly to the restaurant. The deco is simple and modern. The food is delicately presented. None of the dishes tastes very heavy and oily, most of the dishes are quite light and refreshing. It is definitely average michellin standard .
Tasty food for sure. The eight course menu is great. Ambience and service are ok… Nice for a business dinner.
We had the tasting menus, paired with wine. The food was good, tasty and interesting. But it was not wow, it did not blow us away like other Michelin starred restuaurants did.
Nice dinner. Amuses were refreshing. Both dishes were beautifully cooked. The dining room had maybe 4 tables when we arrived, and I guess that contributed to the very fast pacing of the first few dishes. A little unfortunate, made the meal seem rushed and actually less enjoyable. The AC was also blowing quite cold, and after the main course, I asked if we could finish the desserts on the out door patio. We were politely told no, and that it was too crowded out on the patio. Even though there were still plenty of tables open when I asked and when we left. Overall, food was very good, sommelier was charming, service was ok/good.
This was utter garbage. The advertised seafood feast turned out to be nothing more than a pan-fried fish fillet. Three out of five courses were desserts – is this the kind of menu a Michelin-starred restaurant should have? The order and speed of the dishes were also questionable. The first snack arrived while we were still looking at the menu! And the bread served before the first snack came during the wine discussion. Most egregiously, the sommelier recommended a sweet wine after all the subsequent desserts – were they afraid the desserts wouldn't be sweet enough? This meal cost nearly £300 for two people; consider yourselves!
Angler, a Michelin star seafood restaurant cervical British cuisine. Elegant decor and ambience. Very simple menu to choose from. We left satisfied but not convinced, with mixed feelings. The dessert, however, was outstanding.
Super mixed feelings about this place. I went in with very high expectations because I had heard very good things about this restaurant and I love seafood. The staff were very professional and I had zero complaints about the service. The fish was incredibly fresh and of high quality as well. However, the food was salty consistently! A gentleman seated to the table right next to me expressed the same concern. I have been to several dozen Michelin starred restaurants and have enough experience in these types of restaurants to know that this amount of salt is not typical. If they controlled the amount of salt a bit better this would have been a five star experience. Perhaps this is not the usual standards at this restaurant, but nonetheless I was disappointed.
I don’t understand how they got a Michelin star. Food: There was nothing extraordinary with the food. The flavors are common and did not surprise me at all. It gave me nostalgia about foods I used to it growing up but that’s it. The appetizers and desserts were better than the mains. The seafood/fish were not exemplary at all. Some of the sauces overpowered the fish instead of complimenting them. Service: Mediocre service. Was trying to make a conversation with the server but he did not seem to care at all. They were not even busy given very minimal guests that night. There were probably 3-4 of them serving everyone. On my reservation and while dining, we told them it was my birthday. Nothing special was done except a happy birthday note on a chocolate slab which is part of the dessert. Not even a sign of geniune excitement or care. Ambience: Setting looks like a typical hotel restaurant. We went on a Friday expecting that it will be packed. To our surprise, there were very few of us and a lot of vacant tables. This alone speaks volumes.
