Came here for the £1 oysters between 3-6pm!!!!! Fresh and cheap. Lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff! We ordered a selection of 100g shell fish, amazing value for money and fresh!!. The fries are super!! Definitely coming back for more ❤
They have great service, it's a very clean and posh restaurant. Their toilets are clean and so beautiful. The waiters are nice and friendly and very attentive to their customers. The food is to die for....the fish and chips was delicious and the platter with oysters, crab, prawns, mussels and cockerel was the hit of my day😊😊
Great atmosphere and service. The central bar seems to work well and the booths to the side where we sat were ideal for people watching! Cocktail delivered by a smiling barman was delicious. Seafood was fresh and presented beautifully over ice. I still think oysters taste like a great mouthful of sea water but that’s just me! A very enjoyable experience overall and made to feel special. I also enjoyed seeing binoculars on the shelf, if only we could see out to sea! And sea kelp soap in the bathrooms, nice touch.
The food in this restaurant is just beautiful and exquisite! The oysters are nice and fresh and the octopus is a real must, although you really can't go wrong with any of the dishes. The staff were also very attentive and helpful so you won't regret your experience in this restaurant. There's also a winter heated terrace outside which looks just as lovely as the restaurant inside.
Super seafood restaurant in an original Spitalfields market premises. Great service, great food, well prepared in a great environment. Prices to match. Selection of freshest and best seafood on the market, including some of the best Carlingford lough oysters I've tasted.
Lovely! Been there for in the afternoon, in between meetings, enjoyed the 1£ oysters deal. Fresh, delicious, great wine list, attentive service.
Great atmosphere, marble counters, fresh seafood. It's difficult to write a review for a place like this. On one hand it was nice to come over with my partner, we didn't wait long, the food was fresh, the drinks were cold, the premises were clean and tidy, we got looked after and we will probably return. But, yet again, if you are not willing to spend less than £100 (£64 on the medium sized platter + drinks) I don't think that this is the right place for you to go to
My family and I had an amazing time at the Spitalfields branch of Wright Bros. The staff were so attentive and helpful to explain what options were available to us. The food was all delicious, definitely recommend going for a platter as this can be customised to include what you prefer. Will definitely come again!
You can never go wrong with £1 happy hour oysters and a bottle of white. Food is fresh and service is unpretentious and outstanding.
So I know it seems a little crazy to write a review when you only really had one course, but I can’t let this experience go without a mention. So after being convinced to try Oysters for the fourth time in my life (after not enjoying the first three times), we arrived at the famous Wright Bros Ltd at Old Spitalfields Market. I have it on good authority (from Chef Chris) that they not only serve fresh seafood in this beautiful seafood restaurant and Oyster bar but they also supply over 300 restaurants in the UK alone. In addition very day there is a happy hour between 3 & 6pm where oysters can be as low as £1 each. With this in mind between the two of us we had a total of 8 Oysters, accompanied with the usual Tabasco shot and a simple little onion style vinegar to choose from. I must admit I was pleasantly surprised these were nothing like I have tasted before and I enjoyed every single one, I preferred the onion vinegar to the Tabasco shot, and the taste was so clean and the perfect level of the “flavours of the sea”. The perfect accompaniment to this was a glass of the classic Picpoul De Pinet which compliments the oyster so well and cleans the palate beautifully. I was so impressed with my visit on the Tuesday, I returned again on the Thursday with more friends to share the experience with them and I will be back again that’s for sure.
Love the seafood here. Their oyster happy hour is fantastic (Oysters £1 each) They have a good beer and wine selection and the staff are always friendly and accommodating
Delicious seafood. Romantic atmosphere too. A little pricey though
Lovely place to come and enjoy great seafood. Offer from 3pm-6pm with Oysters at only £1 !! The range of Seafood offered here is broad and their sides compliment any order very well. 5/5 Great Food, Great Service !
Great place, very friendly staff and good selection on oysters and sea food. Happy hours on oyster!! Wow loved it, £1/oyster amazing. Extra * for the shot of the Czech famous Becherovka ;) We will come back soon.
Top notch seafood and great waiting staff. On the expensive side but worth it for a treat.
Great staff, will discuss your needs & likes then tailor your platters. We went for the Full House with chips - ate every last morsel.
Fresh food, very customer centred service, good wine. Recommended place! Ask to seat at the counter!!
This restaurant is still the best sea food restaurant around me ,l have been for more than five times and still enjoy every menu l choose.
Loved this place. Superb oyster selection, friendly and knowledgeable service. Not too expensive.
Bets seafood restaurant I've been to in London. Excellent service.
Great food and nice environment at Spitafields market
Great place - friendly with really wonderful food
Terrific oysters coming from an Aussie who’s used to the best seafood. Sydney rock oysters still beat this but it’s very close up there.
love their fresh seafoods at very reasonable prices
Incredibly good food and a lovely experience
Great service and fresh seafood for a decent price. Especially the oysters were very good!
Lovely dinner last night, one of most favourite places in London! Great service, delicious food and lovely atmophere
Wow what can I say. The food is unbelievable. I had a seafood platter which was amazing. I would fully recommend this place for any seafood lover. The restaurant itself is lovely, and staff are great. The prices were good but the real reason to go there, again, the food. WOW.
Excellent choice! The menu is simple but great - I had the chicken and waffles and Oreo cheesecake, and it was delicious! Not terribly expensive, either. Very nice location (cozy English feel, second story) and good service. I would definitely come back here.
I went here for lunch and had a lovely meal. The mussels were some of the best I have ever tried in London- except I did not like the bloody mary sauce- please add an option to get them marinere style and you will have a loyal customer. The service was friendly without being overbearing- a hard balance to have.
Absolutely superb! - very attentive and helpful staff and an excellent restaurant manager who took the time to explain everything to us and talked us both through the menu. The way the food was presented was amazing and the whole meal from start to finish was tasty and incredibly fresh. Highly recommended - we will be back!
We came 5 of us for dinner and had the most amazing time. Food was delicious, drinks likewise. The seafood was fresh, we tried oysters, crab, prawns, lobster and al tasted fabulous. Fish and chips was also one of the best I had in London. They serve it with mushy peas but I asked to have Garden peas and they were very accommodating. Highly recommend.
I'm so glad we stumbled across this place. It was busy but the friendly staff found us a seat at the bar. This was fine by us. The atmosphere was great. We ordered a hot seafood platter, it was so much bigger than expected with langoustines, King prawns, mussels, razor clam, lobster and more! It tasted amazing and it was clear that the fish was fresh. In the cellar you can see all the huge tanks holding the lobsters, and there are more fish tanks in the restaurant where you can choose your own, I'm glad they chose mine for me though. The price was so reasonable with drinks too. Please open one in Manchester!
Wright Brothers are amazing! It's our favorite place to eat on a special occasion. Treated us like royalty as it was our wedding anniversary and the food is always wonderfully fresh and delicious! The cocktails served perfectly compliment the food too and the have a great range. Will recommend till the end this place, I'm always telling my friends.
Dropped in here on the off-chance with my GF for the first time when passing by and had one of the best restaurant experiences of recent memory: the seafood is outstandingly delicious and prepared with use of excellent catch/produce; the staff are friendly, helpful, and attentive (so must be commended); and the place itself is comfortable, well designed/decorated and has atmosphere. Well worth the price! Shall definitely go back.
Yesterday was my first time visiting a Wright Brothers establishment and the food was amazing! Usually I don't like bar seating but here it wasn't bad at all. The acoustics were such that every other person's conversation couldn't be heard and the low lit surroundings made it more like a booth than being at the bar. Although it can get pricey it was well worth every penny as the food was stunning. Well worth a trip!
Always a pleasure eating here. Oysters, mussels, squid... delicious. Nice decor, friendly staff. A bit expensive but always guaranteed good food and service. They also have an oyster offer between 3-6pm at a pound a pop :) Even more reason to go!
The food was really good and the Bloody Mary was amazing too. I loved the oyster happy hour and really enjoyed the place too. The atmosphere and location is chilled and a great place to go with friends, partner or as a small few. Friendly staff and definitely go for them scallops! Yum
Great customer service from all staff members who served us, very attentive. Food was nice, we ordered the house platter and it was a shame they left some cockles that didn't open(cannot eat them). Will go again
Nicely converted from an Expo Hall into an open and spacious looking museum. Nice cafe for refreshing oneself.
Pricey but tasty seafood, would recommend smoke Oyster, scallops and octopus. Great service but quite crowded.
Go during happy hour. £1 an oyster. That’s a great deal. Had a fair few with some good stout which the barman advised would go well with the oysters (and they certainly did). Has an absolutely stunning interior too. You wouldn’t think that when you are coming from a modest outside of the place.
Fantastic day to enjoy a drink and a light bite, particularly during their happy hour between 3-6pm where £1 oysters are available from the bar, including weekends! Oysters were of a decent size and very fresh. The regular menu is a bit on the higher end, but the overall setting makes this a great place for a special occasion.
Bustling-busy indoors, perhaps a bit too loud from memory; we sat outside in the heated, half enclosed terrace, in mid winter, and were quite content. We ate our fill of delicious seafood, and felt well looked after. I recall the bill coming in higher-than-expected at c. £100 per head, and we hadn't felt like we'd been extravagant. Service was competent and pleasant. And thanks to the kitchen's skill and care, there were no emergencies afterwards.
I would skip the tuna and scallop starters as they were quite bland but the salt cod croquettes were really good as were the mains. The whole gilt head sea bream was one of the best fish dishes I've ever had - cooked to perfection! Shame about the paltry serving of cold fries. Service was excellent.
Fresh seafood platters (Frutti di mare). Sea bream filet was very soft and well cooked. Nothing special here though. Love their honeycomb ice-cream. Convenient and Nice atmosphere for casual meet-up with friends.
I had 6 oysters, a dressed crab and a salmon tartare with a couple of bloody Mary’s. The food was lovely and fresh but the service was just terrible. I felt ignored and overlooked from the moment I entered to the moment I left. Barely had a smile when the food was served, had to wait a good 15 min for the person who knew I wanted to place an order to tell the other person to take my order. And it toon a good half hour to get my bill after I asked for it. And all this while I was sitting at the bar. First time there and a stereotypical example of how good food can be ruined by terrible service. I won’t be back.
Had a disappointing meal, for a place that does charge a premium for its seafood. Oyster Happy hour - oysters for £1 between 3 to 5pm daily, however its an oyster that is not on their menu. I think it a Jersey Rock oyster. It was incredibly salty and mineral, not to my taste, it might be yours. But the waiter didn't even know what it was - I had to find out from the oyster shucker at the bar. Service - had to make a huge effort to flag down the waiting staff every time. They should be scanning the room instead of eyes down all the time. When our crab came, they forgot to bring the hand wash bowls until we asked. Pretty standard service stuff that isn't being done. Confusing pricing - the crab was £19 on the menu. When the bill came, it was £24. When queried, we were told that it costs more if it comes roasted and with a side of chips. We weren't told that at all when ordering, which was very poor service. Food - happy hour oysters were not very good. Even at £1, I think I'd prefer to not have them! The crab was really good though - succulent meat, with a nice butter sauce. Overall, I think I wouldn't go back again. It seems that Wright Brothers is now riding on its reputation, and the London seafood scene is very competitive with very good alternatives.
We booked this restaurant for our anniversary as we live locally and have had good experiences in the past. We did let the restaurant know that it was our anniversary, however despite having many empty tables and a reservation they sat us at the bar. Our booking was for 8pm on a Sunday bank holiday weekend, but although they weren't busy they kept us waiting 20 minutes to order drinks. Soon after we were told the kitchen was closing at 9pm and we should order if we wanted to eat hot food. Simultaneously the staff kept on clearing, spraying and cleaning the counter and bar areas near us making it really obvious that they wanted to close. Subsequently all our dishes were hurried and came together, the food was nothing to rave about and it seems the quality has deteriorated. In general there was no music, no atmosphere, staff could not be bothered, we didn't feel welcome and certainly what should have been a special night turned into a mediocre one with a bill of £140 for two and a sour taste in our mouths on one of the most lively nights of the year accros London. Another thing was the paper napkins... yes! They gave us paper napkins at a restaurant charging premium prices... really shocking! They won't be seeing us there again, which is a shame as we used to like this place.
Let’s start with the negatives - After eating here myself and my wife felt very sick. Maybe this was because we ate too much (6-7 small dishes between two), maybe it was the alcohol (1 bottle of wine between two), or maybe our food was just bad. Based on the other many many problems we had here, I have to assume we were sick because of the hygiene of the restaurant. - We saw a mouse run past us - We asked for bread 3 times from the moment we ordered, but it didn’t come for an hour. I asked why and they said they were baking it freshly, however it was cold, tough, and i saw the waitress pick it up from the side counter, not the kitchen. - Our waiters changed 4 times throughout the meal - We ordered one last dish at the end of the meal, and the waitress brought us the wrong dish, then as it was late the kitchen was closed so we couldn’t get our order. She apologised and the manager came over to apologies, so that’s not a biggie. - One of the 4 people that gave us our food was very surly, and just plonked the food down on top of our menus. I think he was from the kitchen and wasn’t actually trying to be rude, he just didn’t speak English, however I’m not sure why he was serving us food at all. - Our order of fries came with no salt, pepper or ketchup, so I asked for these from the waitress, who said ok but then continued to clean the table next to us. We got the ketchup a couple minutes later but considering she had just mixed up our order it would be nice if she put what we asked for ahead of cleaning the restaurant down as quickly as possible so she can go home. - the place began shutting down very early, and similar to what I read in another review it felt like we were overstaying our welcome by about 9.30, which seems pretty early to me. - Our first waiter (of four) brought us our oysters, put them on the table, then picked them up and walked off back to the kitchen. When he came back he explained one was missing. Fair enough I suppose, but it was odd and I wasn’t happy about our food being carried around and being passed back and forth to the kitchen. Now the positives: + Three of our four waiters were perfectly friendly + The manager was very friendly and apologetic and took the wrong dish off the bill, and also the bottle of wine (because of the mouse). + The manager explained that the mouse is because it’s an old building, which it is so maybe that’s fair. + The food tasted good (until I threw it up a few hours later). Especially the oysters and the cheese cake. + Nice decor Overall then I think the staff at this place just don’t care, or maybe they’re over worked and tired. Maybe that’s why our orders were wrong so many times & the waiters changed without a word. I can only assume the kitchen staff care just as little when preparing our seafood which is why it made us sick. We’ve eaten here before and it’s been fine, so we’ll be back one day, hopefully it will have sorted its problems out by then.
