SMITHS Spitalfields 1st Floor Dining Room

Had dinner last night. Lovely staff and great food. Had Chateau Briand (labelled Chateau Amazon on the receipt) via Amazon deals and it was beautifully tasty. The Tempranillo was gorgeous and just right. Slightly pricey and we were told our steak would take 30 minutes (we ordered medium rare but there must have been a run on the kitchen) so we ended up having picky bits like bread and olives to keep us going. Would definitely recommend.

I am somewhat a regular here at Smith's. I started to go when it was first The Luxe and was slightly apprehensive when I saw it was changing. HOWEVER; They've kept the menu amazing and scrummy. It's still an all around great place if you want a bar vibe in the evening or amazing breakfast to cure the hangover. A pint sized Bloody Mary and blueberry pancakes are my first recommendations!! I've also hosted a private lunch for my company away day up in the loft and from booking to service received on the day it was nothing short of impeccable. Thank you x

This place is a victim of circumstances. It's a a banker-oriented brand that's opened up a branch in the hipster part of town. That means they're surrounded by superior establishments with superior menus, prices, brands and atmospheres. Here's the problem, this place is bland. So bland! They have all the hallmarks of a hipster eaterie (for example regular live music and a brunch menu) but it's a pale imitation that overlooks little details. For a start the breakfast menu doesn't have enough variety. When The Book Club and The Breakfast club have branches nearby with a wider variety of better and cheaper food this is a problem. Both of those places also provide free wifi. Smith's doesn't. I had the Blueberry pancakes and they were nice enough but nothing special in an area where restaurants like Shutterbug exist. The building itself is divided into multiple different kinds of restaurants including a grill. Unfortunately there's a branch of Hawksmoor 100 meters down the road so I can't see any reason for eating here. There's nothing especially bad about Smiths and given the way they've crammed it full of tables you're more likely to get a seat here than in any of its neighbours.

excellent bacon sandwich. The Earl grey tea needs a different brand as you feel you are drinking builders tea, which is great if you have asked for that....Pret do superior tea.

Had lunch here with a friend last weekend and unfortunately the experience was not good. Food arriving cold on the plate and forgetting to bring the wine (which eventually arrived after the food was on the table) is just not acceptable. With so much choice of eateries around Spitalfields, Smiths will not be one of mine again.

Very average food for a high price, but good service and nice ambience

Called in after work after being mesmerized by the offer of £5 cocktails. Unfortunately that is probably about all they are worth. The City Iced Tea didn't taste very boozy at all and was a little bit too sweet. The menu is not that extensive and I can't really comment on much else. It was very quiet on a Monday and I've heard good things about the food but I wouldn't rush to go back

Went for a birthday celebration expecting good meat dishes. I ordered the Rib Eye Steak best part of £20. It came cold on a cold plate with cold onion rings and lukewarm chips. The chips came to the table in a variety of different bowls and metal beakers which looked poor. The steak was really fatty and the waiter apologised and offered a free dessert. The dessert was also cold. (Sticky Toffee Pudding) The staff and service was great but the place is bland and my experience of the food was bad. I shall not go back or recommend as there are better places nearby.
