This was my first time trying Burmese food. Very highly recommend going to this restaurant. Burmese food, to me, is much more similar to Thai food than I thought. As Thai, I’m very familiar with the Thai cuisine, and many of the flavours of Burmese cuisine reminded me of it. There are certain types of meats and curries that are clearly influenced by India/Nepal, making this a very interesting cuisine. I most recommend the mutton curry - by far the best dish I’ve had, and I’ve tried a few dishes at this place. The second meal I would recommend is the Mohinga, which is a national dish and similar to a Malaysian Laksa + Vietnamese vermicelli noodles. Food gets delivered super quick ~5-10 minutes. Staff are very friendly.

My friend has eaten here a few times and it was her choice for lunch before a show. It was soooo good! The vegan noodles and tofu was amazing. The sweet corn fritters were excellent. Great service. I can’t wait to go back!!

I thought I knew Southeast Asian food. Who isn't familiar with a good Thai, Vietnamese Malaysian or Indonesian? But Lahpet's Burmese puts Myanmar on the map. The dishes here are delicate, yet flavourful. It has the freshness of Vietnamese with its whimsical salads, acidity and playful spiciness of Thai and the rich curries of Sumatra, Indonesia. That fish curry was decadent, and the tofu was delightful. Lahpet has invited me to learn more about Burmese culture cooking. And isn't that what it's all about? Shall be back for more.

Delicious meal with friends. Not cheap but all really good. Cocktails are not to be missed. It was one of my first experiences with Burmese and very much look forward to expanding my horizons with more. The service was absolutely fantastic.

No food quite evokes a memory like one from your childhood. My mom grew up in Burma/Myanmar and as a result we grew up with the richness of Burmese cuisine. Therefore, it was a pleasure to relive childhood memories at Lahpet. The food is authentic, the service is accommodating and friendly. The atmosphere is the lovely surroundings of Covent Gardens. I had the Tea Leaf Salad and the pandan creme brûlée. Both amazing. My only regret is not having enough space to try more. I will be back here next time I am in London.

Popped in for a quick lunch and this place was absolutely delicious. Had lunchtime deal of main and starter for £17. The ginger salad was delicious - tangy, crunchy, heat - all bases covered flavour wise. One of the best salads I’ve eaten in a long time. Main course was the mutton curry - it was extremely good. The meat melted in your mouth and strong flavour of tamarind. Warming, hearty and meaty. Everything my table ordered was enjoyed. Will be back to try other parts of the menu as it all looks delicious. 😎

We were early for our res but they sat us at a lovely table upstairs right away! The staff were wonderful and never hovered over the table, quick check backs which was perfect for our date night! The food... Wow what can I say, absolutely incredible and fresh! We went for the ginger salad which was a refreshing way to start the meal and then the masala hake which was tangy and earthy with the cassava rosti then the fillet of beef which was sweet and comforting! Can't recommend enough!

One of the best value pre-theatre menus in the west end. Ginger salad an coconut noodles were delicious.

Absolutely delightful dinner at Lahpet before seeing a show nearby. We had never had Burmese food and it was an amazing introduction. We got the tea leaf salad, yellow pea paratha, grilled aubergine, shan rice with sea bass, tofu nway, seasonal greens, and black sticky rice & jaggery pudding, and we enjoyed every bite. The flavors were complex and surprising. It was a good amount of food for three people. Our party was pescatarian and we didn’t feel limited at all. We sat on the second floor balcony and it was a really nice location to enjoy the warm weather but be a little removed from the hustle and bustle.

My first ever experience with Burmese cuisine. I ordered the grilled aubergine as a starter. My main was the Shan rice with grilled sea bass. For dessert I had the frosted donut. The food was actually awesome. The Shan rice was on the spicy side but delicious. Even the green tea I had was superb. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Ambience was super chill. Real cool location considering it’s near Covent Garden. Another plus, I found out afterwards that this specific restaurant serves halal meat, so I’m definitely going to again to try out the other meals on the menu. I highly recommend.

Really great food. Subtle flavours and a really well constructed menu. A super dining experience in a new purpose-built building. Super close to Covent Garden. Loved it.

A must visit for our family when we come to London. Stumbled upon this place accidentally and were intrigued by Burmese food. The place didn’t disappoint. The flavours are there, nothing to add in terms of seasoning. Playing is beautiful as well. They have good lunch deals Monday to Friday, with 17£ for a salad plus main. My personal recommendation is ginger salad , tofu fritters and coconut noodles. Deserts are also delicious. Try pandan creme brûlée.

Lahpet serves authentic Burmese food in a modern, welcoming setting. The tea leaf salad is a must-try — fresh, flavorful, and unique. Other dishes like the mohinga and coconut noodles were also excellent, with bold and balanced flavors. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and service was prompt. The atmosphere was lively but not too noisy, making it a great spot for both casual meals and special occasions. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food and experience. Highly recommended if you want to try something different in London!

My family and I decided to eat at Lahpet West End because another dining option in the area had too long of a line. We were definitely not disappointed. I have never tried Burmese cuisine before, but the flavors were out of this world. I had ordered the braised mutton curry and a side of steamed rice, which had a spicy, but very rich flavor while another member of my family ordered the fried bream, which she stated was perfectly tender to the bone and also had a great spicy sauce. I had ordered a cocktail which did not disappoint. I was neglect to take note of the name, band it appears it is not on their online menu, but it had rum and raspberry liquor in it as well as pineapple puree and lime juice.

Great food, lots of veggie/vegan choices. Loved the tofu noodle soup and the crème brûlée. Good, kind service. Highly recommend.

Our first experience with Burmese cuisine was an unexpected treat—definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for something unique and delicious! The curry prawns were outstanding! Huge, succulent, and perfectly cooked, paired with a rich, flavorful sauce. Each bite was a delight.

Our first visit to a Burmese restaurant. It was a walk in on Saturday around 7.30 pm There was space outside . The restaurant decor is nice . Nice ambience and the staff were helpful in choosing the dishes . We went all vegetarian for a change and enjoyed every one of the dishes recommended. Loved the small plates - the tea salad is nice . They did say that they would not make any substitutions to the food .

Lahpet is a true gem in London, bringing vibrant Burmese flavours to life with style. Every dish is fresh, beautifully balanced, and packed with unique spices you don’t find elsewhere. The atmosphere is modern yet warm, and the staff are genuinely welcoming. Perfect for sharing plates and discovering something new—an unforgettable dining experience worth repeating!

I had a great meal with my family here. The food is tangy and mouthwatering. I love the fritters with great texture and delicious dip. My other favorite is the fish soup noodle- full of flavours. My son loves trying everything. It’s a good place for children to try new flavours and textures. I’ll come back again.

Had an excellent dinner here the other week, all the staff were super helpful. Booked via first table and got 50% off which was great. It was our first time trying Burmese food and I highly recommend it especially if you like the fermented flavours. If you don’t like fermented foods then I suggest sticking to safer bets like the chicken noodles and prawn and squid salad. We got 1 starter, 3 main dishes and a dessert and it was only £45! All the dishes were very large even the starter dish was the same sized serving as the main.

This Burmese restaurant is really delicious and has a unique vibe. The dishes are beautifully presented and taste amazing. The service is great, and the atmosphere is nice. It’s right in Covent Garden, which I love, and super convenient. The fried snapper blew me away — crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and looked great too. The lamb was also awesome, super tender and full of flavor. The caramel pudding is a must-have, really special. I’ll definitely be coming back!

A very beautiful restaurant with a terrace on the second floor and an indoor bar at night. It looks very atmospheric and romantic. I recommend everyone to sit on the terrace in summer. I ordered a fried fish, shrimp, tofu, rice noodles and coconut milk rice. The rice noodles were stuffed with some fried crisps, and the seasoning was sour and salty. The fish and shrimp were served with a little salad. What surprised me was that the fried fish also had a whole piece of super big meat. The overall taste was really Southeast Asian. The dessert was also an unexpected surprise. The pudding was cheese with a little matcha flavor, and the taste was very complex. It was about 35💷 per person, very delicious and filling, and you can also order a few drinks and sit down.

Amazing Burmese food! I love the Tofu Nway the most for its silky tofu broth and tender rice noodles! So comforting and flavorful. The Braised Mutton Curry was rich and aromatic, paired perfectly with the flaky Paratha. The Lahpet Thohk (Tea Leaf Salad) offered a refreshing mix of tangy, earthy flavors. Great service, cozy atmosphere – a must-visit for unique, delicious food!

I really like this nice Burmese restaurant at Covent Garden. It serves traditional and modern versions of Burmese cuisine. We ordered some special dishes. For starters, we had Grilled Aubergine, which was flavourful with fried shallots, garlic, chili, coriander, garlic oil, lime, and peanuts. As someone who has tried many grilled eggplants, I think this one was good. We also had Mixed Fritters, which were tasty with tofu, soybeans/corn, and shallots, served with tamarind sauce. For the main course, we tried Whole Fried Bream with tomatoes, shallots, chili, garlic soy sauce, fried beans, peanuts, and greens. The fish was crispy, and the flavours were rich and balanced. I personally liked the King Prawn Curry, with tomatoes, spring onions, chili, and greens, as the fragrance of the prawns was well released. We also tried a cocktail called Lahpet Margarita, which was refreshing and tasty. The ambiance was nice, with a mix of modern and Southeast Asian styles, featuring marble floors and glass pickle jars as decor, which were interesting and visually appealing. I’d recommend this restaurant to everyone who would like to explore South East Asian / Burmese food!

We checked out Lahpet in Covent Garden after a friend recommended it, and I’ve got to say, I’m hooked on Burmese food now. The tea leaf salad had this really refreshing vibe with some unique ingredients. But the star of the show was the Whole Fried Bream – they separate the meat and the bones, so you get this super crispy bone alongside tender, juicy fish. The flavor was seriously on point. The place itself is really cozy, and the service was great too. If you’re in London and want to try authentic Burmese food, this spot is a must!

So good in every way. We feasted on wholly vegan food, and will be back soon. Upstairs terrace felt cool and comfortable, service was fast, sweet and appropriate. Thanks! Tofu ‘puffs’ turned out to be crackers, and they cry out for a dip (they only have a tamarind sauce, and while it’s good, I really wanted a chilli or soy-based dip) and the fritters look like burnt brownies, but taste awesome! They’re made with black rice powder, hence the look.

Not very many places get full marks but this place was outstanding. The menu options were varied and had a good range of vegetarian and vegan options along side meat options. (I know this cos I went with all 3 people) The starter salads and fritters were all delicious and a great way to wet your appetite for more food. The curries and noodle dishes were also all delicious. We had the deep fried fish which was entirely edible including bones. All of the cocktails were delicious and well Ballanced. The drinks menu was wide and had a great selection within each category. You can talk a lot of thought and attention went into creating both the food menu and the drinks that diners will have to accompany their meal. The modern decor suited the modern take on classic dishes. The service was good and food arrived promptly. There is very little I can say about this place that I didn't like or wished was different.

Highly recommend this restaurant to try a new cuisine in an inviting atmosphere. The alfresco seating was comfortable and the tofu nway was outstanding! Thank you to the kind waitresses who served us and made the experience even more enjoyable.

Laphet in Covent Garden was a delightful find on a Saturday afternoon! The atmosphere was pleasantly relaxed, not too busy, so we could fully enjoy a fantastic meal. We had a beautifully rich Braised Mutton Curry (Tho Tha Hnut), infused with cumin, tamarind, and daikon pickle, perfectly paired with their classic Paratha. To finish, we went for the Pandan & Coconut Crème Brûlée, which was absolutely divine. The service was excellent, friendly, and really helpful in explaining the dishes and guiding us through the menu. A truly wonderful experience!

Had a great evening here, service was amazing friendly and warm. And the food was amazing, first time trying Burmese and will come back for more. The standout dish was the Masala Hake, and Aubergine, no pictures of the crackers as they were devoured before I got a chance to get one 😁,

Great menu and selection of delicious tasty food. Set menu was good value and loved the Lahpet beer. Everyone in the party enjoyed the food and experience. Thank you to the professional and courteous staff for making it a lovely Sunday lunch experience.

Wheelchair accessible. Accessible loo on the ground floor. Staff very friendly and helpful - great service! Tofu puffs were a revelation! They should be everywhere! Delightful salads to start followed by deep fried bream. The puddings were so good. Almost everything on the menu is gluten free - unusual to have so much choice!

Splendid and tasty meal that packed a PUNCH. Tamarind is a favourite flavour of mine so this went down a treat. The hake masala with an additional side of crisp roti to mop up the sauce was sensational. I only wish there was more of it and more of the flaky buttery fish that fell apart on a brief touch of my fork. Really atmospheric with the touch of tea lights. I was quite impressed. I would like to return but give how satisfied I was with my selection, I cannot imagine trying out the other dishes.

I was pleasantly surprised by the food here, me and my party had a delightful experience and a lovely introduction to Burmese food. The amé hnat was definitely the star of the show, the meat fell apart and the gravy was subtle and not overpowering. If anyone is shy of spice I recommend this dish, it isn’t hot but has lots of gentle warm flavours running through it. I’ve seen very few comments about the spicy fried chicken online but can confirm that it’s worth ordering, it definitely has some heat to it. The crunch on it was perfect but my only suggestion would be to provide more sauce on the side with it as the portion of chicken to sauce provided wasn’t to scale. I left this restaurant feeling fully fed and the portion sizes did not disappoint. Despite what others have said about the service I had no issue with the staff. They constantly replenished the water on the table without instruction and had the attentive characteristics of a waiter you’d expect in central London. I hope to bring some family and friends here in the future and would hope to try some new specials (given the very shortlisted menu they operate with)

The food here is very good. The chickpea tofu noodles are delicious and creamy. The braised beef curry was tender and tasty. The pandan & coconut crème brûlée is a must. What brings the experience down however is the slow service. Staff are nice and friendly, just not enough of them. 3.5 stars.

The place has a great ambiance. The service was decent (they made us sit in the counter while the tables weren't occupied the entire time we were there, a bit sus) and the food was alright. We were trying different place one night and decided to check this out by ordering 3 dishes. We tried the fritters (wasn't salted, not sure if that was intential but the sauce was perfectly sour, tandy and tasty), the flatbread (was really good, similar to the India/Sri Lankan Parotta) and the chickpea tofu (which was interesting).

The ginger salad was brimming with flavour and texture - though comparatively small - pearlescent in its miniature glory. The chicken noodles like a chilled out laksa - rich and mild coconut broth and really liked the crispy noodles… all in all tremendous value for £17.50 for the express lunch menu in this part of town. Home made ice tea serviceable but on the pricy side at £6. It was freeeeezing outside and the door didn’t shut without an effort so the temperature in the room meant you couldn’t take your jacket off so sit away from the front door…

I was craving a fresh, flavourful salad and came across this Burmese restaurant for the first time. The traditional tea leaf salad was lovely, and the other salads were enjoyable too. The curry was rich and full of bold flavours - a bit too strong for my personal taste. The staff were friendly, and overall, it was a pleasant experience.

I've been here a few times and, though the menu is fairly small, the food is flavourful and served quickly. They do a pre theatre menu with limited but decent options, providing good value in the middle of the West End. They add a 10% service charge which is at the lower end in London but I still believe customers should dictate tipping practices and establishments should pay their staff a fair wage without the expectation this is topped up by service charging. Anyway, Lahpet is worth a visit because staff and food are good.

I went to Laphet for dinner on 2025-07-22 (Tue) with my work colleagues, I mentioned it’s a business meal on the booking and the restaurant staff gave us plenty of space and privacy perhaps because of that, or just because it was a Tuesday night, either way I appreciated it. All of the dishes were tasty, but we particularly liked the tea leave salad, lots of flavour and textures. The king prawn in the curry was also pretty meaty and big.

We always love going to lahpet for yummy Burmese food. We were walking around in covent gardens and stumbled upon this place. We ordered some wine. We ordered the tea leaf salad, the mutton curry, the prawn curry, a side of morning glory and mushrooms, a paratha and coconut rice. We ended with black sticky rice pudding. Everything was yummy though the quality of mutton was not great as there was a lot of fat on the two pieces I got but other than that, it was all good!

We had a fantastic meal at Lahpet West End, one of the few places in London serving Burmese cuisine. The tea leaf salad was light and refreshing, while the coconut noodles with chicken were rich and comforting. The braised mutton curry was delicious, and beautifully tender. Each dish was delicious with well-balanced flavors. A must-visit for anyone looking to explore Burmese cuisine in the city!

Food was lovely and came out quickly. We turned up and were shown to the deepest darkest corner of this restaurant on the top floor. Felt like we were stuck in the naughty corner. Ahead of being seated we were pretty much ignored by all staff. Once seated service was fine and the staff were friendly. We ordered the mutton curry, seabass and coconut and pandan creme brulée. The mutton curry and dessert were the winners. We had never tried Burmese food before and did really enjoy it but it was likely quite westernised. We had non alcoholic drinks which were as expensive as the beers!

EXPRESS LUNCH DELIGHT 🍛 📍 West End, London ⭐️ 5/5 💸 ££ 🍴@lahpet is a stunning #Burmese restaurant with an incredible terrace, perfect for sunny days and stylish dining in the heart of London’s West End ☀️ The vibe is modern yet cozy, making it ideal for lunch or pre-theatre meals. We tried their Express #Lunch & Pre-Theatre menu for just £17.50: incredible value with bold, authentic Burmese flavours that really surprised us! Our favourites were the rich, tender #Mutton Curry and the perfectly cooked King #Prawns 🍤 I was especially blown away by the Shan #Tofu Fritters! I’m not usually a tofu fan, but these were next level crispy and flavour-packed. For dessert, we went off-menu and tried the Pandan & Coconut #Crème Brûlée: creamy, fragrant, and delightfully different 🍮 Drinks were just as impressive, the Thai Basil & Kaffir Lime Sour was my absolute favourite, fresh and zesty with a great kick 🍹 If you want authentic Burmese food with a chic atmosphere and beautiful outdoor space, Lahpet is a must-try! ❤️

Had the popular coconut noodles but the yellow pea paratha is what stood out for me! Flaky paratha and a mild white pea stuffing. They have a good lunch menu too, economical and great variety! I liked the community table vibe and the service was friendly. It was quite busy on a weeknight, so a reservation is recommended.

Visited as a birthday treat & high recommendations via First table. First impressions very smart but homely with low level lighting. We were put in a warmer spot near to the kitchen which was good as the door was constantly left open on a cold night out - hence 4 star for atmosphere. Surprised we were not allowed upstairs considering other people were?!. Food was as good as described elsewhere, we had nearly all the mains, unfortunately the sweetcorn/spring onion fritter starter was burnt and no taste of the ingredients described & I asked for that to be removed from the bill - it was. The fish/prawns/mutton were small sizes but were delicious - didn't need additional condiments to spice it up. Desserts were also delicious - the pardon one was something I'd not had before. Had the server drop used cutlery twice (once on my coat) hence the 4 star. The bill didn't make any sense with no breakdown of costs and 'voluntary' charges been added without permission, irregardless of the small amount, a head's up would be appreciated. All in all, yes I'd go back as the food was amazing esp being able to eat deep fried fish bones 😋 and also I want to try the famous coconut bowl meal.

Imaginative, well-cooked Burmese food. A good selection of beers, wines by the glass and cocktails. Well-meaning, if not the most professional service. Tables available outside. Open all day.

This place came recommended to me by an acquaintance: they raved about the food and, having never had Burmese food before, I thought I would give it a try. It might be because of this that I was not super impressed with the food, but I thought the Dahl lacked in flavour. My friend’s mutton main was also ok, maybe the dishes are designed for white palates? the desserts were good, though, the crème brûlée especially. Service was good, but the price to food tasting experience was meh overall.

L
L N

We would have given this restaurant five stars, but the service unfortunately ruined our experience. None of the staff at the restaurant were attentive. We always had to flag them down whenever we wanted to order something. We also had a female server who behaved very strangely. When we ordered desserts, she simply came over my wife’s shoulder and quickly tossed our cutlery and napkins on the corner of table next to my wife and walked away without saying anything. Later, when we asked for the bill, she did the same with the bill. It felt like she was trying to avoid us. However, the food was excellent. It was our first time trying Burmese food and we loved it. The catfish noodle soup bowl was the best introduction to Burmese cuisine that I could have hoped for. In fact, it’s one of the best noodle soup bowl that I’ve had to date. I also loved the restaurant’s take on crème brûlée. Again, it was the one of the best crème brûlée I’ve tasted. The chicken noodle soup bowl and fried dough dessert were decent. If the restaurant could improve their service, this restaurant could be one of the finest in the city.
