Opinions de L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon London
I recently enjoyed a truly magnificent lunch with friends at Le Comptoir Robuchon and cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. Great location in vibrant Mayfair, all the staff were knowledge, friendly and attentive. Fantastic a la carte and special's menu supported by an extensive champagne and wine list. I would recommend the Seabream carpaccio, Duck breast and all the desserts! Relaxed atmosphere for a French restaurant. Excellent.
So it used to be that l atelier was the consolidation price for those who couldn't go to France, now that robuchon has passed away its more of a place to celebrate one of the giants of the french cuisine. Expect the best of his food, made by an expert staff, not cheap but the quality is superb as is the tastes.
We absolutely loved our very special evening at this restaurant. The spicy margaritas were ace. The random fois gras amuse bouche was delicious. Starters were great - gazpacho and ceviche. Loved our mains - duck and beef. Enjoyed the rum baba dessert. Excellent wines. Totally recommend. I was also particularly happy with the most excellent service. The staff at this restaurant are ace.
Went there with my friend for lunch in december and we love the ambience (+ pretty restroom) Had a 2 course meal starting off with the sea bream carpaccio, very refreshing and well balanced with the lime. Followed by the quail stuffed with foie gras with mash, the meat is so tender, skin is perfectly seared, the sauce goes nice with the mash. Quite generous amount for the bread basket, and the waitress even asked if we wanted refills! Would definitely recommend this restaurant especially for birthday celebrations :)
I don't know where to even begin - I can't compliment this experience enough. The service was second to none, everyone was genuine, friendly, polite and so welcoming. The decor and general ambiance felt so relaxed and warming. The general pace of the evening, the waiting staff, the management, the chefs and everyone involved were just lovely. I would most definitely recommend this restaurant and am certain I'll be back. The food deserves a mention of its own as every dish was meticulously prepared and presented beautifully. The reputation of the dishes is well deserved as every mouthful was delicious! I have never been so keen to share my photos and experiences about a restaurant as I am about Le Comptoir Robuchon - my new favourite that I will be banging on about to everyone I meet!
If you love interior design alongside fine dining this place will hit the spot. The interiors oozed elegance and attention to fine details along with the walls clad in gold. The warm glow from the chandeliers set ambiance and the black floor was very unique. Bread has taken a backseat in todays health and fitness industry - but the Robuchon bread basket shouldn’t be missed. It will bring you heavenly happiness in one bite. The three course set lunch was spectacular, all the flavours and ingredients combined uniquely making my taste buds come alive.
Went there for dinner with some friends, excellent service, staff were friendly, organized and professional. The place had a very nice ambiance. The food overall was delicious, the carpaccio, the sliders, the wagyu steak and the spaghetti with truffle were the dishes I liked the most. The mashed potato that they serve with the steak was top notch! I’m not going to lie, the portions were small, but it really was a special experience overall. I loved that they had a non-alcoholic section in their cocktail menu which i enjoyed before the meal came out. And our waiter gave us some dessert on the house which was a very nice gesture!
We went twice; once a little after it opened up and tonight again. We did not think it could get any better but it did. If you want to treat yourself to a special dinner, this is the place to go. We have rarely been to a place around the world where the restaurant design, atmosphere, service and food are all outstanding. Gary took excellent care of us! Such an outstanding service and attention to detail to his guests. It made the dinner experience extra special.
Robuchon became my favourite restaurant I have been a couple of times with my partner for the 3-course meal and every time has been a great experience, different menus Good portions and the staff is supper nice and friendly! They always give us something extra last time they gave us a whole delicious brioche to take home, it make me so happy 🥰 Always a pleasure to come back
Perfection. Gorgeous interior. Very knowledgeable and attentive team - service was excellent throughout. Delicious food. I would go back for the bread basket alone - next level. Premises would also be great for a classy, romantic dinner. Strong recommendation, we will definitely be back.
Exquisite. Absolutely deliciously beautiful presentated french food. The decoration is so chic! As a French person, I found this restaurant “Atelier” better than some Michelin Stared restaurants I have tried in the past. All staff I encountered spoke fluently French which made the atmosphere familiar and warm. Will definitely come back whenever I can, as I had a wonderful Christmas Lunch with family. Love it.
First of all, the atmosphere is calm, nice, and luxurious. Secondly, the staff is very polite and considerate all the time. I was able to see the chef while dining and I was impressed how focused and hard working he was, as well as the rest of the staff. And finally, the food was beyond delicious! I loved their sea brim carpaccio as a starter. I had the lobster spaghetti as a main dish and the lobster was very fresh and tasty, but the pasta was a bit much for me as a quantity. However, my boyfriend had their sole fish as a main dish and it was absolutely worth every bite!!! Finally, the desserts were a nice finish to the dinner. All of them looked good and delicious, but I chose a more fruity one, which I was very happy with! Overall, it was a very good experience at the restaurant and absolutely worth it coming for a dinner again!
We went here for breakfast, it was really a satisfying meal in London conditions. The prices are affordable, the environment is really clean and decent. I wish the staff were a little more friendly. Maybe the portions could be a little bigger because we were not full with a sandwich. If you go here, you should definitely try the croissants. It was the best croissant I've ever had in my life.
Wow! What an amazing experience. From the moment I arrived at the restaurant, the excellent service began. Table service was attentive, well-paced, and exemplary. The dishes were delicious and beautiful, and the tasting menu was a truly enjoyable journey. Service, food, atmosphere - all 10/10. Can’t wait to bring friends and family here when we return to London.
Although I didn’t dine in ,only went and bough the cube pistachios croissant. Really good and filling. Will try other flavours when in the area.
Great experience nice ambience a clear display of a classic French cuisine deliver with perfection would definitely visit other locations
Great French restaurant with nice vibes. Professional service and great food.
This review is long overdue but not forgotten. I went to Le Comptoir Robuchon on 30th June; my first real venture to a restaurant when lockdown lifted. It was an excellent choice: the food, service and ambiance made for a most memorable lunch with a dear friend. The restaurant's attention to detail is impressive: from something as simple as the butter shape and temperature to our waiter taking his time to understand what flavours we enjoy so that the bartender can personalise our cocktail selections to the manager checking on our dining experience...I could carry on with more examples. I cannot find fault with any of the food we ordered. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented, although I am partial to and would highly recommend Le Pâté en Croûte as a starter. It wasn't just a great meal, it was a lovely afternoon with my friend; and so much of this had to do with their impeccable customer care and service. Merci beaucoup!
I recently dined at le comptoir and I was thoroughly impressed by the food and service. the staff went above and beyond to ensure that my experience was enjoyable, with friendly and attentive service throughout the meal. Overall, I highly recommend this place for anyone seeking a delicious meal and an excellent dining experience.
Unique dishes and menu updated from time to time with amazing new dishes. Exceptional service and a pleasure to watch the team working on the creations.
We can’t rave enough about our 7 course meal with wine pairings. Excellent service and every single dish exceeded expectations.
Well fine dining at it’s best. Great service lovely food and the price to match. The red wine list is to die for and the foie gras was amazing
I’ve been here four times in their first week. Being in Mayfair, Le Comptoir Robuchon is rather a step up from the old Atelier in West St. in a brand new building, Le Comptoir offers a much more spacious atmosphere with twelve counter seats, in addition to around thirty or so table covers. After covering about half of the extensive menu now, my personal favourites are Le Mackerel, La Saint Jacques and L’Encournet from the starters. For the mains, Le Wagyu is the star for me although Le Tounedos and Le Turbot are also good. Le Tatin is my favourite dessert, as suggested it’s a tarte tatin without pastry. They have eight cheeses on a well afineured board, both British and French, and I have to say I particularly enjoy the Lancashire, usually a weak supermarket offering but this is properly matured and tangy. I prefer sitting at the counter myself: indeed you are even closer to the kitchen action than at the Atelier, as the service channel’s no longer there. At the far end you can watch the infamous pomme puree taking shape.
Superb service, superb food! The food was a top culinary experience. Every dish was made to perfection.
Amazing food and amazing service. Thats all I need to say. Would come back again.
Amazing dinner , spectacle culinaire 👏, delicious food, 🎊 to all the team Kind regards nadia Maisonnet-Leigh
Quite the amazing experience. In several ways better than higher rated restaurants in London. Food, service, everything.
I had a delightful time dining at Robuchon. The ambiance of the restaurant is very cozy and warm without being overly relaxed. I found the dishes interesting, exciting, and with unexpected complexity in their flavour bouquets. The bread basket was a particular highlight, funny as that is to say. What really made my meal special was the team: they were extremely attentive and friendly and made me feel very comfortable and at home. I unreservedly recommend Robuchon and feel lucky to have such lovely restaurants in the neighborhood. I will be certain to return!
Authentic and artistic French lunch! I highly recommend it. It was an amazing time. The starters and main courses were fantastic and fresh, bread basket too, but the desserts were a bit not special. (I and my friends visited the deli before. We were addicted to amazing dessert.) Great service and pleasant atmosphere. I am looking forward to the next visit.
We had a wonderful lunch to celebrate our Anniversary. The Set Lunch Menu is excellent value for money: the bread basket was fantastic, and generous in content; and the food artfully presented, perfectly cooked, and tasty - we even had a small bowl of the famous JR mash potato! The petit fours were delicious, and the espresso coffee, excellent. A very convivial atmosphere, friendly staff and an elegantly understated presentation. Would definitely repeat the experience, no hesitation!
Service was very attentive and caring. Beautiful interior, spacious and inviting. Food was excellent with a few highlights - fried foie gras, foie gras terrine and the mashed potatoes were absolutely incredible. The generous bread basket also wonderful. The beef tenderloin was a bit tough and hard to cut with the silverware at the table. A variation of deserts was served - the tiramisu had room temperature which is never great considering it is made with raw eggs. Panna cotta was uninspired. Still a lovely night. The mash potatoes were a dream.
Sat at food bar overlooking open kitchen. Great atmosphere and fun watching the craftsmen at their stations cook beautifully presented plates overseen by an expeditor. Great date spot. This was my 2nd visit. Service was excellent the first, but poor the second time. Many dishes were excellent, but not all. The unique bread service and small tapas- like plates rocked. Our seats at food/kitchen bar were not ready when reserved, and they tried to set us up at cocktail bar without asking, so took a walk for 15minutes. The first trip service was excellent and prompt. The second, blithe, at best.
I was there for my friends birthday and if I had to summarise the experience id say, great atmosphere and interior, mindful, attendant and engaging staff as well as pleasant food. The cocktails were enjoyable too.
A beautiful restaurant with great lineage falls short. Initially food arrived in a timely fashion. However our main course came out of synch, and seemed forgotten. A younger manager’s obvious irritability towards his direct reports was evident and further took away from what was hoped to be a nice experience.
Food was good. Drinks were way too expensive for how mediocre they were. The prices and offerings on their menu online are vastly different from what they actually offer. Service was friendly but extremely slow. Would not go back. The night before we ate a Loconda in London which has a Michelin star, comparable prices but the food, drinks and service were far superior
This is our third visit at this venue (including the previous run as La Comptoir Robuchon) and we've always been impressed by the food. Most of the staff has also been super helpful and friendly but our visit this time was marred by honestly quite a shocking staff. When we sat down we were given the a la carte and tasing menu only, even though we made a booking for the set lunch and we weren't given the menu until after specifically asked for it. The same staff then asked for our allergy info and when some of our party informed him we can't eat certain things he pushed further for whether it's just a preference or allergy, which we found slightly intrusive. Then the same member of staff pushed for us to order some cocktails, and explained that there were non alcoholic cocktails. At that point we did find he was interrupting the conversation of our table and told him we will make our decision and let him know, to which he said he was simply making a recommendation. We were feeling strong urge to push us to up the spending of the table and it was done very untactfully. When we have made our orders from the set lunch menu we also overheard the same staff mentioning/commenting to other staff members that we aren't going to order drinks, at that point it was simply getting slightly offensive. Afterwards I think the restaurant also sensed some tension at our table and we were served by other members of the team which the experience was pleasant. The same staff then returned to present us the dessert menu later on and he was avoiding looking us in the eyes. He also borderline 'dropped' the plate of desserts on our table, to which I simply found odd. At the end we were presented with our bill. Then the original staff with the attitude was going to take my card for payment. He then asked us what water did we order (still/sparkling) and how many we ordered, to which we gave the information. Then he returned with a new bill with the addition, without apologizing for making a mistake on the bill previously. It was as if he was catching us withholding that information (although obviously we weren't even told what the charge of the water would have been in the beginning, and obviously we had no influence over the first bill). At that point the hostility was just super clear and it was plain rude. It was my first time being presented a bill at a restaurant with one sum, and then being grabbed back and presented a higher bill without an explaination or apology. Meanwhile the quality of the food was still excellent. Other staff members have also been very kind and helpful (it was a rainy day and the original staff who took our coats and bags at the reception stand was super friendly and helpful) However this recent experience will probably make us reconsider hard before feeling comfortable again to return to the same venue.
The restaurant is beautiful, the food I wish there was more flavour to it. Went for my mum’s birthday and was a bit disappointed they couldn’t offer not even 1 sauce for her dishes due to allergies, despite booking ahead and mentioning her needs. The wine list is to die for though and the bread of course, because of their bakery being one of the best in London
Dinner X2 250£ Expensive alcohol drinks The food was good but not worth that value. Small piece of beef The ambiance and service was good. Although We waited nearly 40 min to get the dessert.
Did not like their business style. You need to walk around to get your drinks and food. Ordered a double espresso, got just one in a huge mug. Taste was not good. Then, a vegetarian quiche that was cold! Staff was friendly. Seats seemed dirty.
I went to this restaurant several times before it closed down in 2020 so I was really excited to return. Whilst the food and presentation were fabulous we had a terrible experience. Our table was booked for 2pm and around 3pm the team started cleaning the kitchen and making really loud noises ( it’s open plan) banging and crushing. They eventually stopped, this really spoiled the atmosphere. We were the only customers left but we had been there less than 2 hours and to our surprise, loads of staff came out into the restaurant to eat their lunch. So the restaurant literally turned into a staff canteen, we couldn’t believe our eyes! Our lunch bill was c£300 and we left feeling it was such a terrible experience, never in my life have I seen this before! I emailed the restaurant twice asking for the General Manager to call me as wanted to share my feedback. Unfortunately this was two weeks ago and haven’t had a call back, hence the reason why I am doing a review. Wouldn’t recommend it at all.
