Fantastic in every respect. There was an amazing close-up magician after the main course. It was something I had never seen before in a restaurant and it is something that happens Wednesdays to Sunday. The food was very tasty and beautifully presented. We had the Sunday roast set menu, which was £70 for two courses and £80 for three. Another highlight was the bread selection at the beginning with lovely butter.

Went on a Friday evening Good service and thankfully quiet enough to have a conversation whilst the main bar / lobby area was very loud. We had Oysters which were very good, lagoustines so so, steak very nice and Halibut very tasty. Prices are high , but we didnt hold back on wines. For dessert the Panacotta was so so

Absolutely recommend!! We went on Friday night. Great ambience, outstanding service, high quality foods. We will be back! Really enjoyed the whole experience! Every single dish we ordered, were very tasty and authentic! When you step out the Lutyenes restaurant, it does get a bit noisy (maybe because it was a friday night).

Great steak and prawns. It was so delicious. Best steak ever. Service was amazing too.

Just absolutely incredible! A faultless meal, faultless superb service in a beautiful intimate setting with a great choice of dishes. The staff were just so attentive and friendly and advised us on the different steaks. We had the scallops and pea & fennel salad to start, the Chateaubriand steak to share and the chocolate cake pudding and we got a lovely surprise pudding from the staff for our anniversary too. A wonderful evening. Thank you to everyone at Lutyens!

Delicious food. Fantastic service and a beautiful setting. They start you off with complimentary bread. It is warm and although a tad salty I still really enjoyed it. I then had the steak tartare which was again really good. It was packed full of capers and flavour. My partner had the scallops with chorizo which were really tasty and well balanced. We both had the filet mignon which were perfectly cooked. We also ordered the dauphinoise potatoes, the Bordelaise sauce and mushrooms. The potato slices for me were a little underdone but the flavour was good and the mushrooms were great. The sauce completed the steak well. At the end of the meal they also gave us complimentary chocolate and kind of jam cube which was interesting. The employees were super attentive. We had tap water and there wasn't a single moment my glass was empty. They clear the table in good time and I don't feel we had to wait long for our meals. They opened the door for us and took our coats but given the price mark I guess you are paying for good service. (It cost us £180 for the meal and that was without any drinks). The restaurant is in the Ned where there are other bars and restaurants with a live band in the middle. You do have to leave the restaurant and go downstairs to go to the toilet which felt quite far away but they were clean. It's set in an old bank so it looked pretty cool and you can see the vault door downstairs. Outside was the highlight for me though; it's surrounded by beautiful buildings and just a short walk from the Royal Exchange. You can walk to the restaurant from London Bridge. It takes just 17 minutes and gives you an opportunity to get some nice photos and burn off some of the meal 😉.

Great atmosphere, the food was fantastic. Maybe the best steak I ever had. The service was very friendly, polite and fast. The place might be a bit over-budget for some people, but it's worth the money. Great place for special occasions like anniversaries.

Faultless service, food and atmosphere. I had a soup starter and the iberico chop. Husband had scallops and steak. Proper old school vibe and menu but I liked the fact that there was a really diverse bunch of people there enjoying themselves, not just a city gent place. Can’t wait to return.

Lutyens Grill is a high-end steak restaurant located in the historic former Midland Bank building in London. The restaurant is set in a beautiful wood-paneled room creating a very sophisticated and elegant atmosphere. The service is excellent, with attentive and knowledgeable staff who are happy to recommend dishes and wines. The menu features a wide selection of steaks, as well as seafood and other dishes. We opted for the Hereford chateaubriand, which was cooked to perfection and served with delicious armagnac sauce. We also tried the fries, which were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. However, I would have preferred a chunkier type of cut. Overall, we had a very enjoyable meal at Lutyens Grill and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a special occasion meal.

Crazy unlimited dry aged prime rib! Trimmed meat, you only get the middle part, baked to perfection, melts in your mouth! They do serve some trimings to try the outer layer. Sides are perfect mashed potato and cream spinnage, with gravy for the meat on the side. Couvert is butter with 3 warm pieces of bread, I asked for seconds of this! Oysters very good as appetizers alhough many people go for lobster. Dessert is choco mousse, not at all sweet but puts a final nail in your coffin! Special thanks to Gabriel from reservations who ammended my reservation! Price very high but well worh it when you see what yiu get for the money you pay!

magnificent experience. on Friday evening you can have the three course prime rib menu. They make you choose an appetizer (I started with half a grilled lobster) and then bring you mashed potatoes, spinach with cheese, sauce and a slice of prime rib (succulent and cooked to perfection). you can ask it as many times as you want without end. Then they make you choose dessert too. The waiters are expert and kind. truly a place with great charisma. there was also some great live music coming from the ned. Magnificent

Scallops were nice, meat was cooked to perfection, I really enjoyed the dauphinoise with truffle and the lobster mac and cheese. We shared the cherry cobbler, which was delicious. All together we had a very nice evening and the waiters were attentive, constantly filling up our water and wine glasses. It was the three of us and we spent almost £500. At the end we were a bit cheeky and asked them if they would give us a little drink/shot on the house, waitress was so lovely and checked with her manager but she declined. Yes, they obviously don’t have to say yes but given what we spent and for such a big hotel/venue it would have been peanuts. That was a bit disappointing.

Utterly delicious food, top class friendly service. Went there for a midweek late lunch for two and what a treat it was. I started with the scallops, they were delicious and beautifully presented (see photo). For main course I had the New York strip, the best steak I have eaten in a very long time. My partner had a soup starter and the Iberico pork chop, for sides we shared truffle mash, a salad and some chips. All perfect. The whole experience was flawless and delightful. Great to see London so full of people out enjoying themselves, just like the old days. The central area of the Ned and all of the surrounding bars and restaurants were heaving with people having fun. Update for 4th Nov 2025, simply fantastic food. NY strip to die for , same deal for the scallops!

Service provided by the waiters is fantastic, but you would expect that considering the discretionary service charge will be quite hefty due to the price of the food. I had the scallops to start and they were amazing. I didn't enjoy my fillet steak and dauphinoise that much, but that could be because the complimentary bread and butter was surprisingly filling so by the time our mains came out, I wasn't so enthusiastic. The steak was perfectly cooked to my liking though and whether or not I enjoyed every dish, I can't deny it was all cooked very well. It's quite dark inside the restaurant. I like that it feels private behind a closed door, and still close enough to the bustle just outside with the live music clearly audible at a comfortable level. The Ned (where the restaurant is located) is bustling and busy on a Friday night. It felt like every person working near by was there after clocking off. The eating experience is nice but can be a bit intimidating. I like that the waiters will make sure the table is clean between courses, and they came to fill our glasses with tap water constantly. They also took our coats and returned them back to us when we were ready to leave. However, I did feel like I had to be careful not to put my elbows on the table, and to hold my fork properly! Overall we enjoyed our visit here, but the price locks it out from being a regular visit. If you want a great steak you can get more food for less at Hawksmoore. But if you want to feel like you're getting a fine dining experience with your steak, Lutyens is worth a visit as a treat.

Lutyens Grill restaurant is a culinary gem that caters to the discerning palate of a professional like myself. The extensive selection of wines complements the exquisite dining experience, and the very good steak exceeded my expectations. To top it off, the indulgent cheesecake was the perfect sweet finale to a memorable evening. Highly recommended for those seeking a delightful combination of exceptional food and an impressive wine list.

Prime rib melted red wine jus was excellent the potatoes were hard not crispy veg and Yorkshire could have been hotter but the beef was outstanding. The restaurant was not busy so not much atmosphere service was on point.

The Ned is a spectacular destination and yet I found Lutyens to be welcoming and hospitable. The ribeye steak I had was excellent, but it was the desserts that stole the show for me - particularly the peach pie.

Fantastic spot for lunch, well worth booking ahead. We started with lobster and oysters, followed by the beef rib mains. Generous portions too; they offered us more after the mains, but we were already happily full.

Brilliant steakhouse / fine-dining experience complemented with excellent food, live music, pleasant decor and an excellent wine list. Professional and friendly staff - all steaks were cooked excellently. On the pricier side but worth it. Recommended!

Visited Lutyens Grill with a friend and came away with a fairly mixed impression overall. We mainly focused on the meat. I ordered the 1 kg Tomahawk steak, while my friend chose the Japanese Wagyu ribeye. Both are clearly premium cuts and were cooked correctly from a technical point of view. The Tomahawk was solid, well prepared, but for the price, it was not particularly memorable or exceptional. The Wagyu ribeye was extremely rich and oily. To be clear, this seems to be largely inherent to the cut itself and its very high fat content rather than a clear mistake in the kitchen, but it made the dish heavy and limited how much my friend could actually enjoy it. The restaurant itself is quite small and clearly old. While this is not necessarily a negative in itself, it did not match my expectations going in. Based on the website and online presentation, I was expecting a larger, more modern space. In reality, the dining room feels compact, traditional, and somewhat dated. Some people may appreciate this old-school atmosphere, but the contrast between the online image and the actual space was noticeable. Service was uneven. At the beginning of the evening, the waiter came across as nonchalant and somewhat dismissive, even laughing in a way that felt uncomfortable and slightly mocking. This created a poor first impression. That said, as the meal progressed, his attitude improved significantly. He became more professional, more attentive, and the interaction ended on a much better note than it started. Overall, Lutyens Grill offers premium meat and classic steakhouse dishes, but the experience does not fully align with the expectations set by its pricing and online presentation. It is not a bad restaurant, but it did not feel exceptional either. An average experience with some highs, some lows, and room for improvement.

A truly brilliant restaurant with a focus on providing the best quality of food and a warmth of service one might not expect to find so easily at the centre of the City. In terms of the food, we have started the dinner with a rightly warmed amuse-bouche, oysters, rightly seared scallops, and a rightly seasoned beef tartare. They were cooked to perfection and played a great overture of what is coming next - the côté de bœuf was aged and cooked to an impeccable delight, and served with well textured bone marrow. Together with the thoughtfully made sauces and salad, a remarkable harmony was made and their craftsmanship well demonstrated. The lobster mac and cheese, which I would rather call it ‘cheesy lobster and Mac’, comprises a burst of fresh lobster scent and meat, while the macaroni baked to al dente and the cheese subtly bonding the ingredients for a perfect balance. I opted to pair the beef with a glass of Chianti, which beyond my expectations the wine was served in a perfect temperature. This is where I would show my compliment to the service. They have some of the most friendly and professional front of house staff I have ever seen, who were devoted to creating the best experiences so elegantly for their patrons, while maintaining privacy for reunions and semi-business talks. Albeit that our requests were always being heard within seconds, and perfectly dealt with. Being in an old bank building, the hotel, where this grill is located at, was already a gem of architecture. The restaurant has taken the heritage further with the wood paneling and antique furniture, subtly creating an atmosphere of the golden age. I am truly humbled and grateful for the experience, and will definitely be revisiting this restaurant soon. It has become my go-to grill in London and I would recommend this place for anyone who look for a reliably great meal for a reasonable price.

We had a fantastic time and had some delicious steak. The service in particular was extremely friendly and quick. We had the tomahawk steak (pictured) with the red wine jus which was delicious. I wouldn’t bother with the oysters and the cocktails were nothing special. Just have a lot of steak and some nice red wine!

Visited for Sunday lunch and found the meat to be exceptional and the real standout of the meal. You can upgrade to unlimited meat but this did not seem at all necessary as we were absolutely stuffed with the three cuts of meat already. The lobster and beef tartare to start were also excellent (being picky, they should offer the right utensils for the lobster so you can get all the flesh out), as was the sticky toffee pudding and chocolate mousse. Service was great and attentive but we felt we waited a lot in between courses. Little to no atmosphere (it was very quiet on the Sunday we visited). Would absolutely recommend for the quality of the roast!

We opted for the Jack's creek wagyu/angus steaks at the recommendation of the head waiter - unbelievable steak, and a great blend of the best characteristics of the two. Chef seasoned them to perfection - no sauce required. The sides were moreish (creamed spinach, potatoes, and greens/tomatoes). I can't really add more to the review than others already have - Everything was fantastic from start to finish.

Incredible steak, classic setting, faultless service We had an outstanding meal at Lutyens Grill at The Ned. The restaurant itself is beautiful, classic, elegant and full of atmosphere, but still relaxed and comfortable. The steaks were the real highlight. We went for large cuts to share and they were cooked perfectly beautifully pink, incredibly tender and full of flavour. You can really tell the quality of the meat. The sides were just as impressive, especially the crispy potatoes and greens, which complemented the steaks perfectly rather than feeling like an afterthought. Service was excellent throughout, attentive, knowledgeable and well paced, without ever feeling rushed. Overall,: amazing food, great wine, and an atmosphere that makes the whole experience feel memorable. Would 100% return and would highly recommend to anyone looking for top-tier steak in London.

Amazing experience at Lutyens, a very cosmopolitan night out with friends at the uber busy Ned in the heart of the city. The menu is pricey but well worth every penny. The service was super, and the food portions very generous - quite the opposite of what I expected. I had fillet steak, which was cooked to perfection. My friends has a variety of steaks too all of which looked enormous. I cannot fault the experience, and definitely going back. #lutyensgrill #thened #finedining

One of my favorite dining establishments in the city, this restaurant consistently delivers an extraordinary culinary experience. The food is nothing short of divine, and every penny spent is well worth it. Having savored both the Tomahawk and Porterhouse on multiple occasions, I can attest that they are always cooked to perfection—medium rare, with each bite melting in your mouth. These exquisite dishes are beautifully complemented by a selection from their superb wine list, allowing you to perfectly tailor your meal to your personal taste.

The old midland bank mangers office great for a business lunch and a reasonable selection of food and vast selection for drink. Staff are impeccable and couldn’t be more helpful. Only thing is the toilets are do stairs and so a bit away but not a real issue.

Dining in the old Bank Manager’s office at The Ned feels like stepping into history, only with much better steak. We went as a foursome and shared our way through the menu: steak tartare, scallops, Jack’s Creek Wagyu, ex-dairy sirloin on the bone, Hereford fillet, lobster mac and cheese, those legendary 15-hour potatoes, creamed spinach, green beans with cherry tomatoes and garlic, a mix of sauces and the beef fat chocolate marquise. The beef was cooked to perfection, rich, flavourful, and every cut distinct. The lobster mac and cheese, however, felt a little overhyped. Pro tip: don’t skip the green beans; they’re perfect for balancing out the richness. The setting is wood-panelled, plush, and impressive, but the service didn’t quite live up to it. Our waitress couldn’t suggest a wine pairing and didn’t call in a sommelier, and while staff were helpful when asked (like pre-slicing the steaks for sharing), there wasn’t much initiative otherwise. We could also hear the laugher and occassional banging from those at the bar on the other side of the wall. All said, the food was superb and worth the visit, but for the surroundings, I’d hoped the service would shine as brightly as the steaks.

Food was amazing, can’t fault it. Service was mediocre. When you are having the unlimited prime rib and are told the table is for two hours only, you don’t want to wait 50 mins to have your first plate. That’s what happened to us. It just felt like staff were on slow mode to make sure we didn’t overeat on the prime rib. As it was, I would not have the unlimited again- that’s totally down to us having eyes bigger than our stomachs. If you are greedy like me, trust me, the unlimited is defo not worth it - one slice of prime rib with all the sides plus starter and dessert was ample. We allowed ourselves to be influenced lol. What we did have was outstanding though.

I never leave reviews but I feel like I should this time. I had booked restaurant 3 months in advance and my husband and I were really excited to go as we had seen reviews and insta posts etc. We got there and were seated immediately but the table wasn't very good. We were placed very close to the entrance of the kitchen in the middle of the room of the restaurant, which meant there was lots of traffic in and out on both sides and it made my husband felt really anxious which dampened the entire night. Our waiter was alright except he gave my husband a latte in a normal drinking glass which was too hot to hold and it would have been helpful if he would have helped us with the wine list as there were two menus for drinks. Over all, I would say that the table was one massive factor about our night. If you're seating people near the bathrooms (not applicable in this case) or the kitchen, it can make for uncomfortable dining experience. The food was impeccable so there are no complaints there, and another waiter allowed me to take my food to go which he said he doesn't do often.

Out for drinks and food with a good friend. We go to the Ned and plan to dine in Lutyens Grill. We book a table in advance The initial greeting was lovely. The staff took our coats. We had a casual friendly conversation with some of the front of house staff and was seated at a nice table. The food took a short while after our starters but all was well. Water and wine was of good quality. However as the table is being cleared my friend and i ask to take our left overs away. The waiting staff was not pleased but returned with one bag. We check the bag and the food is all mixed in one box. Im a pescatarian and dont eat meet plus my friend is allergic to mushrooms which was shared at the beginning...why was it not clarified how we wanted the food handled? Im annoyed not wanting a fuss or double handling of food therefore I decline the offer to seperate the food. A short time passes and were offered dessert. My friends gets a coffee and I begin to finish my glass of wine to only have a card reader shoved in my face. No greeting, no excuse me as were in the middle of a conversation, the man continues to jest to me paying Although surprised at the rudeness. I agree to pay after looking at the bill while the waiter huffs and holds the card reader close to my face. Upon reviewing the bill is not ours and twice the value. We inform the waiting staff and he doesn't apologise but grabs the receipt and correct the issues but then stand over my friend with card reader again pointed in her direction. We ask him politely to give us a moment. He agrees and rushes off and begins to land other customers bills on their table despite them not having ask either. Now it's not closing time, what's the hurry to get the customers out. The interaction was poor and in my opinion inconsiderate as we were still finishing drinks. Then when I pay he doesn't give me the card back he hands it to my friend and she's explains its mine, despite seeing me pay he ignores her and places my card and receipt on the table despite my hand being open to collect it from him. I didn't not deserve that treatment and it was totally dismissive and u called for. I won't be going back any time soon. This experienced tainted a lovely evening.

A pleasant enough experience but not one where we'd spend our money again. Compared to other places of a similar price: Hawksmoor, Blacklock, Goodman - Lutyen's falls well short. We went for the unlimited prime rib. Everything is nice but there's just something always slightly off. The potatoes - crispy but served slightly cold and tough, the prime rib - succulent and flavoursome but a proper workout to cut, knives which are all show and no utility, the greens - just plain boiled veg, the gravy - a nice flavour but the second batch overly salty. The desserts, by far the most disappointing. All utterly unremarkable - the crumble you could make better at home, the mousse and cheesecake tasted like something you could buy from Tesco. We didn't finish them Atmosphere-wise, it's stale, mundane, and feels every bit like you're in a hotel restaurant. Like someone asked AI to "create me a NY steakhouse vibe" but without the soul. The Maroon 5esque band's cover songs leak into the room from the lobby, inbetween non-descript jazz music quietly clinking along. The sense of resentment from one particular waiter deeply apparent. Not a bad time, but pretty uninspired.

It's a rarity I leave a bad review but there are some issues. Service was good. No issues there. Lighting too dark for my taste. The food however was a let down, but I will share the good and bad: Prawn Cocktail was genuinely fantastic. Scallops were so so, the sauce really overpowering any sweetness of the meat. Mash was very good. Bernaise sauce was very very good. Possibly the best I have had. Now the bad: very simply it is unacceptable for a steak to be served underseasoned, which two out of two were. There are better, and more reasonable, steak places in London.

Frank Terry

I genuinely never expected to write a review like this — especially not for a place like The Ned, which prides itself on top-tier service and experience. We arrived at 8:30 PM, a group of six, and ordered two of the largest £250 steaks to share. The order was very specific — we couldn’t have ordered less, as one steak wouldn’t have been enough for our group. The restaurant was practically empty, so we anticipated a smooth evening. However, by 11 PM, we were still waiting for our food. Not once did a member of staff acknowledge the delay or offer an apology. When the steak finally arrived, there was only one — and what followed was not just disappointing, it was frankly insulting. They brought out a plate of fat trimmings alongside the single steak, and tried to spin a story claiming that this was somehow equivalent to two full steaks. As a former butcher, I knew this was completely untrue — the cut we ordered does not come in 2.6kg, and what we were served was clearly a single steak accompanied by waste trimmings dressed up as something more. When I challenged this, I was met with more deflection. I was told that what we had was indeed two steaks — again, simply not true. Rather than admit the mistake or offer an apology, they doubled down, which made it all the more insulting. I was made to feel as if I was in the wrong for pointing out the obvious discrepancies. Had I not had the experience and knowledge, I fear that any unsuspecting customer would have swallowed the story — and a plate of trimmings — thinking they received what they paid for. That’s £500 for a fantasy, not a meal. The situation escalated further when speaking with management. My concerns were met with defensiveness, and I was even told I was being insulting, simply for politely but firmly insisting that something wasn’t right. I’ve been a loyal customer for years, and I genuinely cannot believe that such a well-regarded establishment would handle a situation like this with zero accountability. No transparency. No apology. No professionalism. What should have been a celebratory evening with my team turned into an experience I wouldn't wish on anyone.
