So. There are Pizza restaurants. There are Italian restaurants. There are restaurants that just make you want to smile. And Piccola Ristorante definitely wins for all three. Service was great and the variety of the menu was enviable. While you won't be disappointed with the choice of pizza (we tried three!) maybe the test of a good Italian Restaurant is the quality of the Lasagne. A winner. Enjoy.

The food was great—my friend had the minestrone soup, which was comforting and well-seasoned, and I had a white sauce pizza that I really enjoyed. The crust was very, very thin, which I personally prefer, and because of that, it was light enough for one person to eat the whole thing without feeling too full. Easily one of the best brownies I’ve ever had. It was served warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, and the contrast between the hot, fudgy brownie and the cold, creamy ice cream was just incredible. Unfortunately, I didn’t take any pictures because I just indulged in it straight away. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. The service was decent, and the atmosphere was nice. I’d consider coming back, especially for that brownie!

I had an excellent dinner here. Surprised and delighted to walk in on a Friday evening with no booking and be seated straight away. The asparagus starter was first rate. My main was veal with linguine, again excellent. I spent £47 including a zucchini fritti side dish, a glass of Moretti and service charge. Highly recommended.

Outstanding food as always Piccola!!! As a regular customer I am never disappointed with the excellent food, the staff are so attentive , service is fantastic & the manager will always check in at your table to make sure we are happy. Amazing selection of wines also. Such great value for a restaurant in Hampstead. Looking forward to my next visit. If you want authentic, exceptional Italian food book your table !

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Piccola, and it was truly a top experience . From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The staff, especially Salvio and the manager Salvatore were incredibly welcoming, attentive without being intrusive. Every dish we ordered was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. The flavours were fresh and perfectly balanced. Highlights included the seafood pasta which was served en papillote! The overall vibe was relaxed with family atmosphere, making it perfect for a casual night out and staff at Piccola a definite major plus which made my visit a convivial one — I can’t wait to come back and try more from their menu! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a relax dining experience with good food and friendly staff!!

Avocado olive tomato and cheese salad, fried calamari, margherita pizza, and napolitan spaghettini. Fabulous food and staffs. I guess I will visit this place once in a while when I crave for Italian food.

Amazing as always. Best local Italian restaurant outside of Italy in my opinion! We love going here, it always has a buzzy atmosphere. Also, great wine list!

Went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Delicious food, food arrived promptly, attentive service. Nice atmosphere as they were playing jazz music and at a level which was not intrusive. I would go back.

If you’re Italian you’re gonna find home at Piccola. If you’re not, well, this is the place where you will taste real Italian cuisine. The staff is amazing, Salvatore will guide you through the menu like no one else. A gem in Hampstead.

Really delicious pasta and pizza. The whole family had a great time! The staff were super friendly and incredibly accommodating as I asked for a dish not on the menu for my anniversary and they made it. We will be going back for sure. The kids especially loved the chocolate treats they were given at the end.

We had dinner yesterday for Mother's Day. It's always a great sign when you enter a restaurant and every single table is booked and full of people enjoying their meals!! Service was extremely attentive, they could not do enough for us.. Calzone is AMAZING!!! Overall, an excellent dining experience, one which my family and I will be coming back to enjoy in the coming weeks! Thank you to everyone at Piccola.. Keep up the great work!!

My personal hidden gem in London! Wonderful dining experience with great food and a warm atmosphere. The Minestrone soup was hearty and comforting, the Strudel was baked to perfectly, and the Chocolate Brownie was simply divine. Service was excellent, with Dimitri making sure everything was perfect for us. The restaurant has a welcoming ambiance, making it a great place to relax and enjoy quality food.

We were a large family group and had a wonderful evening. The service was great and the food was fabulous. Portions were generous, good for sharing, and everything was so good - best arrabiata and risottoI've had in ages! The pesto arancino was terrific.

This was our second visit to this establishment and yet again the food, service and ambiance of this friendly restaurant didn’t disappoint. Booking is essential as the restaurant is very popular due to their great menu. We enjoyed a sharing platter to start with followed by two of there freshly cooked dishes. As it was our wedding anniversary we enjoyed a bottle of champagne and we didn’t feel rushed or hurried at any time. Definitely will return and highly recommend this restaurant. Thanks all for enjoyable evening.

I had such a wonderful experience here! The food was delicious and comforting, it truly reminded me of home. The prices were very reasonable, especially for the quality of the dishes. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the whole visit even more enjoyable. I’ll definitely be coming back!

I went there for dinner tonight. I am in Rome and Sardinia quite a lot; the pasta I had there (aglio, oglio e peperoncino) was every bit as good as any I have had in Italy. Outstanding food, good price..

Had dinner here recently and everything was excellent. The seafood was fresh and perfectly cooked, the pasta full of flavour, and the service warm and attentive. You can really feel it’s a true Italian restaurant, with authentic dishes and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The place was clean and cosy, and the staff made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. Definitely one of the best meals I’ve had in Hampstead — I’ll be coming back soon!

Have been a regular visitor at this NW3 gem for many years. Salvatore, Dimitri, Roger and the team always provide a great welcome and excellent service. The food is home style and delicious - always piping hot and beautifully presented. Personal favourite is the "Linguine alla Carlo" pasta (italian sausage, brocoli and a tomato/garlic sauce) but the veal limone, veal milanese, calves liver, linguini vongole are all excellent and the pizzas/garlic are banging...especially when washed down with a pint of Moretti or glass of Chianti! A definite 5 stars across the board from me!

A pleasant surprise. We walked in after 3pm, they made us welcome and served excellent and surprisingly large pizzas. Great value for money.

The pizza was delicious. Had the ham and mushroom on the margarita pizza. The garlic bread to start was yum and it left us full but not super stuffed. My friend had the four cheese and artichoke and also loved it!

Great pasta and lasagna. There are not many people, it’s a quite and small place. Waiters were not the kindest, they kept forgetting things. But enjoyed our time.

Went here as couldn’t get into our preferred Italian in Hampstead. Very solid second choice! Pizzas not quite as good (the tuna one was amazing though) but a really nice atmosphere, great service and moretti on tap

Went into this cute little Italian Restaurant on Heath Street over the week end with some friends. It was really buzzing. Food good, staff very friendly. I recommend it.

Nice little restaurant, friendly and attentive staff. Pasta was good, pizza would benefit from a bit less tomato sauce as was a little too damp! Shame as the crust is really tasty and the flavours were good.

It was amazing it has lots of good food. The desserts are terrific but maybe they could bring the food a bit more earlier because when we ordered food, another family came and their food came a bit more earlier than our but on the-whole thank you it was very good

What a treat! The restaurant has a warm, inviting charm. The seafood platter was fresh and beautifully presented. The house white wine paired perfectly, and the staff made us feel like family.

Food was nice and came out extremely quickly. Took a while to even get a menu as the staff (think manager) was more interested in speaking to a customer he knew. Took a very long time to pay despite having our bill and having our card in view all while 3 staff members see to a table with their friend. In the end had to wave them over. There was an Italian waitress who was the saving grace, she was polite and friendly and was there to take our order as soon as she saw we were ready to.

We didn't feel welcomed, and the food was pretty good but not £60 worth of good -- 2 pasta dishes and 2 teas, no sides (not even bread). Menu said "homemade" pasta mwas an extra charge so we didn't ask for it. Another reviewer's use of the term "tourist trap" seems spot on; it's exactly how we felt.

The staff was adequate. Not rude but not very friendly either. I did not enjoy their recommendations. I ordered the sea bass and was extremely disappointed. I was expecting a filet but is was 2 small pieces from near the tail. It tasted like it wasn’t seasoned at all. I did not enjoy this at all. My wife ordered the bolognese and it was just ok and also very different from any bolognese sauce I’ve ever had. The kids ordered pizza from the adult menu and it was average. With so many other great options in the area I would not recommend this restaurant.

Very disappointing meal for upscale Hampstead. Service was slow, beef ragu was tough and house red wine was very ordinary. Much better Italian options in Hampstead.

Unfortunately, we had a disappointing experience at Piccola last night. We tried two different pasta dishes and shared them, both suffered severe stomachaches shortly after, which lasted through the night and into the morning. The discomfort was intense, as if we'd been punched in the stomach. Additionally, the service left much to be desired. The staff was not welcoming, and when we called to inform them of our experience, their response was quite rude and dismissive. It's disheartening when the response to customer concerns is handled poorly. I must advise others to consider these issues before deciding to dine here.

WORST “Italian” RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE – A COMPLETE JOKE If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Actually, I’d give it negative stars for wasting my time, money, and appetite. This isn’t a restaurant — it’s a sad parody of one. We walked in and were greeted with… nothing. No “hello,” no smile — just a miserable man muttering “any table” like we were interrupting his nap. He flung menus at us like frisbees. Honestly, I’ve had warmer welcomes at the DMV. The arancini looked like they were dredged in something scraped off a school cafeteria floor. Bland, soggy, tasteless garbage. The calamari? An overpriced pile of frozen rubber, dumped next to a sad handful of wilted lettuce. No seasoning, no dressing, no clue. I wouldn’t serve that to a stray dog. Then came the pizza. If the “chef” — who was loudly yapping on his speakerphone while cooking — had actually paid any attention, maybe the dough wouldn’t have been RAW. Raw. Inedible. Toppings were basically nonexistent, and the so-called porcini mushrooms were clearly frozen, tasteless, and possibly a health risk. Calling this “pizza” is an insult to Italy — hell, it’s an insult to cardboard. A greasy, late-arriving side of courgettes showed up after we’d nearly finished everything else. They tasted only of burnt fryer oil and sadness. And the Coke? Just a warm can slapped down on the table like they were doing us a favor. Oh, and the ambiance? Screaming in the kitchen, chaos in the dining area — it felt like we’d wandered onto the set of a budget Kitchen Nightmares knockoff. This place has supposedly been open since 2017 — I’m convinced it’s a front for something, because there’s no way it’s surviving on food or service. Maybe blackmail? Witchcraft? Avoid this disgrace at all costs. I’d rather eat gas station sushi off a bus floor.

I spent this morning in the emergency room because I ate pasta at your restaurant and got gastroenteritis. ‼️‼️‼️‼️ It's amazing why this Italian restaurant on the main street in Hampstead is empty, right? 1. The toilets smell terrible; McDonald's is cleaner. 2. There was a guy with a fly swatter right next to the kitchen; apparently, a certain percentage of insects can be found in food. 3. I ordered an Americano coffee, and they brought me a pizza. 4. The most brutal thing, a showdown between the staff in the kitchen. We heard the word "AMERICAN" for 20 minutes. Most likely, the place will close soon; customers will never return to such a horror. The manager is standing there for some unknown reason, smiling, hearing the squabble in the kitchen and pretending everything is okay.
