We pop in to Terra Moderna for a glass of wine and quick snack in lovely terrace. We had great wine paired with sea bream ceviche and homemade focaccia. The flavours were very well balanced and absolutely delicious. Service was very welcoming and friendly. Thank you very much will come back next time for dinner.
Fresh clean tasty food. Nice dim lights for dinner. Good location. Staff name Zak was hospitable, very sweet and although I am vegetarian with less options, he took care of all my requirements. Thank you.
We love this neighbourhood gem. Proper handmade Italian pasta, traditional as well as unusual dishes - all outstanding! Even their amuse bouches and starters are so thoughtful and flavoursome… Extensive and inspiring wine list. Great for private events and they make very good cocktails, too. We are regulars now and frequently bump into fellow neighbours as well as celebrities…
So my partner took me here for my 30th Birthday and OH MY GOSH ! What a find 🥹 this is by far my new favourite restaurant! Every dish was an 11/10 and the food had me smiling between bites , the waiter Lorenzo was a fabulous welcoming host and helped us choose great dishes ☺️ jazz music playing in the background , what more could I ask for Thank you Terra Moderna for good food and a great birthday experience Ps : your truffle pasta is out of this world🌍
The food here was seriously incredible! The tuna tataki with wasabi mayonnaise was next level, I don’t usually eat wasabi but I loved this! The service was also great and it had such a nice, modern vibe. Would highly recommend coming here, it was definitely one of the best meals I’ve ever had!
Visited Terra Moderna for the first time on Saturday and absolutely loved it. The restaurant is gorgeous with minimalist but cosy decor, the ambience is perfect. Our Maitre D Chris was completely charming and the service was at a perfect pace. Background music was just right too. The food is really excellent, the menu is small which we always prefer but also with really interesting choices, everything is fresh and interesting. We had cocktails, 3 courses, wine & coffee & couldn’t fault any of it. Before we left we booked a table for our next visit.
Great atmosphere for a dinner with friends and very nice and original Mediterranean food. The place is a hidden sweet spot in Swiss Cottage. The food was perfect, every dish we have tried was packed with flavors and made of fresh ingredients. The service was outstanding, we were served by Chris who was making sure we are well looked after. The place got busy late in the evening, so make sure you reserve a table on the weekend to secure this great experience.
I went in with a friend and we had a great Sunday Christmas lunch. Steak tartare, Arancini and Focaccia bread made for great starters. For mains We shared 2 pasta dishes, the Linguine woth fresh tuna and Tagliatelle with Mushrooms which was particularly delicious. We were still hungry and decided to indulge in the chicken cutlet with sides of roasted potatoes and sautéed broccoli. Great neighbourhood restaurant, we’ll definitely be back!
The restaurant per se is quite elegant and the menu represents that, I have tried few starters and the Arancini and Tartare were really well made, the pasta was also nicely cooked for desserts you should try the Pavlova and Tiramisu although I would have liked more of that! :-) The service was also very pleasant, definitely coming back!
I had an experience this week at Terra Moderna, an Italian restaurant located near Sweet Cottage, just 10 minutes away. I had a wonderful experience. The food was excellent, and the service was even better. Lorenzo was outstanding - truly exceptional when it comes to service and hospitality. Among the dishes, I especially loved the Fassona tartare with black truffle - absolutely delicious - and the Taleggio arancini, which were exceptional as well. The portions were generous, and I didn't even get the chance to try a first course because I was so impressed by the appetizers alone. I'll definitely be back for a full experience whit my friends!!!! The champagne and wine selection were also excellent. Professionalism, friendliness, and great attention to detail throughout. The only slight downside is its location, in a somewhat small area and hidden from everything else. This a little gem on Belsize park. See you soon!!!!!!!
Lovely place, following a recommendation from a friend of mine..location is super cute and elegant, food is over the top..I had arancini, agnolotti and the parfait as dessert...everything was really super tasty, Lorenzo and hig colleague did just a great service, definitely recommend
Really delicious food, everything was beautifully presented and full of flavour. The service was excellent — Chris was incredibly polite, attentive and made us feel very welcome. We’ll definitely be back!
My partner and I had dinner at Terra Moderna on Saturday night. We loved it! The food and service were both exceptional. We ordered the arancini to start and they were perfect. Exactly what you what - good crispy outer layer, the rice inside was just the right warmth and texture and the cheese at the centre perfectly gooey. We then had the truffle pasta which was delicious also. The truffle flavour was subtle without being overbearing, the pasta perfectly cooked. Next we had the pollo milanesa which we also both loved. The chicken was tender and the pomodoro that it came with was tangy and fresh. In the interest of full disclosure, they brought the pasta and the milanesa in the wrong sequence - the milanesa arrived before the pasta. But the floor manager acknowledged the mistake straight away and rectified things immediately. The instant rectification of the error enhanced the overall experience in both our opinions. The dining space was well arranged, nicely lit and with a pleasant atmosphere. We had a wonderful experience and will be back again. Thank you!
Yesterday my friend and I went to Terra Moderna for lunch, and we had a wonderful experience! The food was excellent — we shared three appetizers, the octopus, and a main course of agnolotti cacio e pepe, which were super flavorful. The restaurant is very clean and beautifully maintained. The staff were extremely kind, especially the manager Chris, who welcomed us warmly and took great care of us throughout our meal. Highly recommended — we’ll definitely be back!
Superb place for a meal, we arrived after a long day of work and we're happily greeted, everything we ordered came very swiftly, the French 75 was superb as was the Octopus. Lorenzo was extremely pleasant and helpful. I'm sad I don't live closer to make this place a regular.
Terra Moderna is a modern Italian restaurant in England's Lane, London, known for its excellent food and friendly service. The menu features classic Italian dishes with some modern influences with a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients. I found that the staff is knowledgeable and helpful. The restaurant is also stylishly decorated, with a modern and minimalist feel. The dining room is small and intimate, and the atmosphere is relaxed and informal. Would recommend
This is by far one of the very best restaurant I’ve been to in London! We had a wonderful dinner; I especially recommend this place for special occasions because the attention to detail is amazing and will make your night magical! 💫 The food & the atmosphere is perfect. Modern, elegant & romantic. The food is of such good quality with incredible ingredients. I had the best lamb saddle ever. Thank you so much for giving us a beautiful night ❤️ 100000% recommend especially if you are in Belsize, West Hampstead, Hampstead, Primrose area!!!!
The food was amazing definitely recommend the arancini and watermelon salad as starter, the truffle pasta for main and the tiramisu for dessert. We also had a couple of drinks, my fave being the french 75, could drink these all day everyday. The staff were so nice and helpful and recommended the best wine with our mains.
Very nice restaurant with super tasty Italian food and excellent service. Highly recommend.
The newest entry to Belsize/Primrose dining scene is easily the best one at the moment. Italian influences in the menu with some excellent pasta options and a stracciatella salad to die for! Must call out the superb service as well, who upon booking an outside table informed us they also kept a backup table inside in case of rain! Seeing that they regularly refresh their menu I will be back for more very soon!
I've dined at Terra Moderna my third time, and each visit exceeds expectations. The food is consistently delicious, with rich flavors and beautiful presentation. The exceptional service, attentive staff, and welcoming manager make every meal memorable. Highly recommended for a fantastic dining experience ♥️
Honestly what can I say but what a treat! The service was fanatic and charming. The food was just so good! Delicious Italian food in Belsize Park-treat yourself!!
An amazing gem, I'm so glad it's arrived on England's Lane! Went with my parents last night, delicious fresh and tasty food. The wine is particularly nice as well. Great atmosphere and we had the loveliest waitress - excellent service. Can't wait to go back and try more pasta.
Had an amazing and unexpected lunch in this little hidden gem in Belside Park Sunday. Trying to take shelter from the rain, i went in and was greeted by Chris, shown to my table and ordered a tea. He was very polite and professional and walked me through the menu and options and i went with the oven baked provola as a starter and the truffle tagliatelle as a main. Amazing food, 5/5 stars. And the service was impecable. Will return for sure.
Great atmosphere and a lovely place for a dinner. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable of the menu and their service was awesome. We were welcomed by Chris who made sure we enjoyed our evening there, stopped by multiple times to check if we needed anything, took lovely pictures of us and made sure we made the most of our night there. Food was tasteful and we did not have to wait long for it. Would definitely visit again!
Everything was veeeeeery tasty, we will def come back again. Thank you 🙏
Great restaurant with the most wonderful staff. They really go above and beyond to make it a special night, and the food is absolutely delicious. They change the menu every few months so worth coming on a regular basis. Would recommend highly!
What a beautiful cozy place ! I went for lunch on a Sunday, it was sunny so I sat outside, but I have to say the interior is very inviting and intimate. I enjoyed the tuna with avocado and the parmigiana, which I have to say were absolutely delicious. The waiter Chris was very attentive and looked after me, and made sure I had everything I need. Coffee was great as well. Overall a great experience in this hidden gem on a Sunday afternoon, would definitely recommend.
The staff were amazing both times we visited. The 2nd time was my birthday and they brought a lovely tirimasu cake with candle, which was a lovely touch! Thank you to the staff! 😘 Every dish was amazing and loved every bite, and in a gorgeous village type street in NW London, would highly recommend! 😍
We had a work Christmas Dinner here, for almost 40 people. Lorenzo and the team made our night exceptional, everything was very well organised, the team looked after everyone so well. The food was exceptionally good. Thank you so much for a fantastic night!
We had a great dinner with friends at Terra Moderna and I must say - what a great experience that was. Food was amazing, atmosphere was warm, music was spot on for the time of the day, tidy and well maintained restaurant. And the service provided by Chris was flawless, friendly and professional gentleman, looking after us with great care. We had a great time and we will surely be back in the near future.
Had dinner at Terra Moderna in London and the pasta with clamps was amazing – super fresh and full of flavor. The pasta was cooked just right, and the sauce was light but delicious. Also, the service was friendly and quick, which made the whole experience even better. Definitely a spot I’d go back to!
We came here last week to celebrate my fiancée’s birthday and were thoroughly impressed. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and most importantly, the food was absolutely outstanding. As we were leaving, we happened to meet the owner outside—he kindly gifted us three books he had written himself, which was such a thoughtful surprise. The restaurant is also dog-friendly, which was an added bonus for us. Overall, it was well worth the one-hour drive, and we would happily return. Highly recommended!
Enjoyed catching up with family over a delicious lunch. Everyone enjoyed all the dishes and the service from Chris was great. Burrata and Arancini were the favourite starters. The fresh pastas were all delicious and make sure you try a dessert. Can’t wait to visit again.
Had the delicious truffle tagliatelle. High quality Italian restaurant, food and atmosphere are excellent. Only minor is the desserts, they aren’t very tasty, they’re quite bland. The popular classics are missing (e.g. chocolate fondant, lava cake, brownie, etc.). It would be perfection if they added better desserts to their menu.
Absolutely delicious. We had lots of different dishes and all were amazing. Standout dishes were the beef tartare and truffle starter, seabass ceviche and the venison main.
A big thank you to the very polite staff and the chef of this establishment, who prepared the fish for me without oil. I am grateful for your patience and for your excellent service. The coffee was also very tasty! Thank you. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We had such a lovely dinner here tonight! There were seven of us and everything was perfect – the starters were absolutely delicious and the main courses were amazing. Everything came on time, and the staff were super friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed our evening and will definitely be back!”
I would recommend but there are several points that need to be improved: - Some of the food arrived already a bit cold. The risotto was served in a flat plate which made it get colder much faster - a bowl would have been a better choice to serve this meal. - The room was not warm enough. When it’s 3 degrees outside I appreciate indoor spaces to be nice and warm and I had to keep my thin jacket all the time. Atmosphere and service were very good. In terms of food, I especially liked the arancini and desserts.
Finally a new Italian restaurant, and a really nice one to settle in England’s Lane after the departure of the last one. First off, the environment was really nice. Understated, modern and somewhat cosy, we really enjoyed the space. The menu is frequently updated, and the dishes are meticulously planned. Fresh ingredients and really nicely garnished. Flavour was great, the appetisers were slightly more on the salty side. Out of all the dishes we ordered, we enjoyed the ragu pappardelle the most. The waitress also recommended us the beetroot gnocchi, it was intriguing so we went for it but we ended up confused by it more than we were amazed. We enjoyed the service very much, the staff were hospitable, humorous and brings a sense of warmth and sincerity to their service.
A group of us met for dinner. We all enjoyed the starter and dessert but had reservations about the mains. I ordered the monkfish, expecting it to be soft and juice, but it was a bit hard and overcooked. For £34, I was expecting to be blown away by the dish. My friend who ordered the same dish felt the same. Meanwhile, our vegan guest was utterly disappointed with his pasta. It’s a shame the vegan dishes weren’t given the same level of attention.
My partner and I had booked this restaurant for our valentines date. Our reservation was booked for 8:30 however we were only seated at 8:50. This was the first issue of the night. Moving on they didn’t have the beef tartare and substituted it for Carpacio. Although tasty for 21 pounds you would expect something that lasted more than 2 bites. We ordered for mains, a pasta dish a lamb dish and potatoes on the side. When the mains arrived it was only the pasta and the lamb and the potatoes only came after we had finished our mains. We had to ask where they were in order for them to bring them to us. When they did bring it all they said was someone “forgot it”. For desert we ordered 2 glasses of frangelico which were priced at 3.5 per glass. When the bill came the two glasses were priced at 7 each. When questioned the waiter told us this was the price for the double shot which was never mentioned to us nor did the waiter give us a choice of a single or double. For this the least you do is change the price and apologize however in order for them to change the price back to what was advertised I had to insist and ask the waiter for the price to be reduced. Then to cap it off whilst we were drinking our apertifs, the waiter asked us to move once another table of 4 came in so they could seat them all together. At any good dining establishment that charges 70 pounds at the least per head, you would expect much better treatment of customers.
Terra Moderna was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve had in London. For a restaurant positioning itself as refined Italian dining, the food, service, and overall experience were shockingly poor from start to finish. The pasta beef ragu ox I ordered was completely undercooked and appeared to have been reheated in the oven -inexcusable for any kitchen, let alone one charging premium prices. They had also run out of beef tartare and, instead of communicating properly, served us a beef carpaccio claiming it was “the same” because it cost £21. It was not. The flavour, preparation, and quality were equally underwhelming. Our dishes arrived over 30 minutes late, and when the tiramisu finally came, it turned out to be nothing more than a dry piece of cake masquerading under the wrong name. The table next to us seemed to be enduring the exact same issues, which clearly points to a wider problem with consistency and management. The most concerning part of the evening was the behaviour of our server. When I calmly mentioned our concerns, he openly made fun of me - an utterly unprofessional and disrespectful response that left both of us appalled. My partner had to intervene before the situation escalated further. After a long and frustrating discussion, the only gesture offered was removing the wine from our bill — small consolation for inedible food, long delays, and a ruined evening. Terra Moderna fails on every front: food quality, service, authenticity, and respect for customers. Save yourself the disappointment and the £150+ — this is not an Italian experience worth having in Hampstead.
TERRIBLE st Valentine’s day experience. I booked this place for a dinner with my fiancé. I’ve been there before and thought it was pretty good but this Saturday was really bad. Where to begin: 1. We arrived 5 mins before the reservation time and were told that the table would only be ready in 10-15 mins - so we had to take a walk. When we got back, we were given a table right next to the door so it was pretty cold every time anyone opened the door. 2. There is no wardrobe so you have to try and squeeze your coat on the back of your chair (which means you are sitting pretty tight) - I know this issue exists in many restaurants in London but at least in some places you can have an extra chair to put your staff on. In this case - NOTHING. 3. Nobody approached us for the first 10 minutes. No hi, no water, no menus. 4. When making a reservation,l chose an option with a Valentine’s set menu - ie we would have a meal for two for a fixed price. When the waiter approached us and I asked him about the set menu he said there was nothing on our reservation about set menu (which was not true) and that we should choose from à la carte. That was fine with me - BUT…. my fiancé ordered a tartar with a brioche and truffle- he was told that they only have the tartar itself (INSTEAD OF SAYING THAT THE POSITION IS NOT AVAILABLE THEY BASICALLY MAKE YOU PAY A FULL PRICE FOR A NON COMPLETE MEAL). 5. The more the better - when we got to the mains they brought us our pastas but the portions were at least 1/3 smaller than they usually are (I’ve been to the restaurant before), and the same thing happened with desserts. We were clearly eating leftovers from their set menu for a full à la carte price. We are quite used to the fact that service is not the strongest part of London restaurant experience but this time it was just at a different level.
