Opinions de The Duke Of Cambridge London
The food was great, perfectly executed. And my previously vegan partner said it was the best chicken she's ever had. (Not sure if that is a high bar or not, but she's in catering, so probably a well deserved compliment). Only criticism, and it's more of a suggestion, is add something to the ceilings to soften the noise. Too many hard surfaces make it hard to understand the person next to you with all the chatter.
We recently had our office Christmas lunch at the Duke Organic and honestly can't recommend it enough. The food was exquisite, service was brilliant- what a friendly team. Our whole office are still raving about how good the food was- especially the basque cheesecake. We will definitely look to return. Thank you Rob and all the team.
First of all can I just say that this has to be on of my favourite pubs in London. It’s ideally located in Angel. The staff here are all super friendly and will walk you through any options you need. The food is fantastic especially their Sunday roasts. You’re looking at £25-30pp as of Oct 24 for a Sunday lunch which given the quality is not bad at all. Would highly recommend if you’re in the area
The food was delicious - the quality of the product was evident and the preparation excellent. While not cheap, I would consider our meals real value for money. The staff were accommodating (e.g., one of us had to avoid gluten and was given all the necessary information). Being a bit older than most of the other customers, we really appreciated that this pub has quieter areas. A great evening! Fabulous wine and a superb cheesecake at the end!
Pleasant, friendly and delicious food. I had a lovely time, it's worth going. The staff is delightful and attentive in details. Seats easily arranged and dietary wishes-no problem. All in all a great experience which I will repeat soon.
This pub gives you a warm feeling the minute you walk in. The staff were very friendly and quick to make sure you have everything you need to enjoy your meal. The Sunday roast was very tasty and filling. We had the lamb and fish roast, which I thought made a nice change from the standard roasts you get in most places. All food was organic and the pub claims to be the first organic pub in the UK.
I think the best way to describe the Duke is gourmet dining meets cozy family dining with a strong environmental mission. The food is so good that 9 plates out of 10 are basically licked clean. It’s all organic, locally sourced, seasonal ingredients with options for everyone (vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and meat and sea food lovers) all while not being overwhelming with too many choices. The staff is super kind and warm and at the slightest rare mistake or discontent they really care to fix it. Even all the customers are lovely and many become regulars. Be it a family sunday roast, a date night, a work private hire, a birthday meal or a quick drink and meal alone - I highly recommend the Duke for any and all occasions.
The Duke of Cambridge is located in Shoreditch, neighborhood of London and is Britain’s first organic pub. Had the Sunday roast and the burned orange polenta cake as well as some sourdough bread and it was delicious! The Sunday roast was perfection with unique sides like kimchi cabbage but still had the traditional taste and comfort one would expect. There is outdoors and indoors seating and the staff is attentive and friendly. I made a reservation on their site but it did not seem necessary. To get to the pub, you can take a nice walk alongside the canals nearby. Great spot to relax and have an afternoon out with friends over delicious food.
The food is out of this world, the service super nice and the whole place feels like home. I’m not vegetarian but love that they always have lots of veggie options, that each tastes better than the other. I wish I could do this at home 😜 And if we have meat I know it’s top quality. Great atmosphere whether you’re with friends or family. They are also engaged in the community and raise money for charity, another reason to go back again and again. Love this pub, definitely in my top favourites. See you soon!
Extremely busy due to the unexpected March sunshine but the food was still top notch. My chicken roast was incredible and the dish pictured was the best aubergine in years. They easily dealt with gluten free and dairy free. Could probably have used a few more staff to deal with the deluge of people but they were all pleasant under pressure
Celebrated my 30th birthday at the Duke Organic and was a fantastic experience. The staff is so friendly and helpful - if you need to book a table for 6+ people, ask for Adam (he’s the best) Food and wine list is also fantastic 🤗🤗 My friends were very happy and will be coming back to the pub a lot
Nice cosy modern looking pub with organic delicious food. Foods has an Iberian feeling. We were there on a Saturday afternoon and it was packed. I believe reservation is a must for weekends. The service was good but i believe they need more staff on busy days and hours. Our waiter was very friendly and polite but they were running around and it was not easy to get them. The Roasted Squash Soup, Sourdough was almost perfect. Delicious soup for a cold afternoon. All the food was good. We had nice an pleasant time. Thanks
Came here for a Sunday roast, thanks to a recommendation. The food was delicious, and the service was delightful to match. The scallops are definitely a must have if you’re stopping by for a meal! If I were to be nit picky, I would say that the absence of gravy for the roast was a bit of a surprise, but it was delicious nonetheless!
I organised a meal for around 25 staff, trustees and commissioners at the Duke. Customer service for the booking process was top notch, clear and informative, and Robert dealt with our many changes quickly and professionally - thank you! The food choice and quality was excellent, beautifully presented and of a high standard - great job in the kitchen. Service was also commendable. It's a really comfortable and quality venue, with a great ambience. Everyone attending really enjoyed the evening. Highly recommended, we will return.
A wonderful experience from the moment we entered the door, nice atmosphere and the food was exemplary. The best roast I’ve had in London. The starters were also wonderful. The portion sizes are generous and the staff were also very attentive. Special shout out to Gabe and Layla! The food overall is 10/10 but if you want a roast with great taste and authenticity, this is the place for you. Also a great selection of drinks too. Highly recommend
Didn’t get a pic of the plate of food - was too greedy… but the clear plates hopefully show… the beef was beautifully seasoned and tender (a little fatty but if you don’t mind). I had the leg of chicken… fell off the bone, skin was lovely, loved it all… the staff are the absolute sweetest… would definitely come again! (Dog and children friendly so bring the whole family!)
Stunning stop for lunch. I tried this weekend. The roast Sunday was excellent. We eat outside with sun and the team was very attentive. And the dessert delicious. I recommend this pub
Came here for a late drink. Decent espresso martinis. Nice vibe.
Lovely food busy pub cosy atmosphere excellent service
Visited with my sister, cousin and his wife. I had salmon starter, fish of the day (Pollock) and Apple crumble with dairy free almond ice-cream. And even though all organic, unlike some organic restaurants there was no compromise. Everything was spot on and tasted great. My cousin loved his pork starter and venison main. I can't remember what he thought of the cheese he had for dessert. His wife had ray fin for main but found it too different for her expectations. My sister had chicken main which was as expected. They both had brownie dessert which was more fondant than rock hard dry brownie which is a good thing in my book. Well worth a visit.
Came for a relaxed evening meal with my parents and everybody thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Food was fresh, some dishes classical, others very inventive (and tasty). The atmosphere is that of a great family pub and our waitress was absolutely lovely and we enjoyed our time there very much. Also, they have a great selection of wine which can be a surprise for a pub, wine lovers are well catered for!
One of London's best pubs for food, service and setting (one of the rare pubs where it is actually safe to order a cocktail). I've recently been twice for lunch, on a Saturday and on a Sunday. The quality of the organic food sets it apart from other pubs. Purists may bemoan the lack of a Yorkshire pudding with the Sunday roast - I did not notice until everything was eaten. The lamb shank in red wine sauce was so amazing and the variety of veg served along with the roast left nothing to be desired. A great spot to meet friends, celebrate an occasion or for a date.
Delicious veggie options, friendly and efficient staff. It’s fairly busy on weekend but staff accommodate you if they can. If you are a large party, do make a reservation. Kid-friendly restaurant. Don’t leave without ordering dessert - so worth it!
I just had a beer there on a calm Monday afternoon , absolutely loved it . The venue decoration- as I like . Vinyl playing . Quiet street . Would love to go back to try the food as well . Pet friendly . Kids friendly .
A hearty meal that doesn't leave you bloated, is what you get here. We ordered 5 items. -Caponata stuffed pepper, warm hummus, greens, tomato salsa & green beans -Rump of lamb, roasted aubergine, roasted tomatoes, harissa, greens, tahini & lemon dressing, gravy -Dark, milk & white chocolate brownie, creme fraiche -Lemon posset, blueberry compote -Buttered new potatoes
The DO never disappoints. A warm atmosphere, delicious food, great drink selection, excellent service, and surroundings. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there!
The whole team were so lovely! Michael, Leila and Georgia looked after us so well and we had the best time. Delicious food and lovely atmosphere!
recently celebrated my brothers birthday here, a group of 8 on a packed sunday - service was great, roast was so delicious (shoutout to proper crispy potatoes) and the vibe was lovely! couldn’t fault it
There is more to this place than Sunday roast. We had a wonderful Wednesday meal here with an excellent menu and top notch service. Highly recommended 👌
Had a Sunday lunch there and it was so delicious. Definitely the best roast I’ve had in London. All round lovely atmosphere- highly recommend.
We had a fantastic time at The Duke Organic — a place that blends the charm of a classic pub with a deep commitment to organic, sustainable food. It’s cozy, welcoming, and full of character, perfect for catching up with friends over thoughtful dishes and well-poured drinks. The menu is seasonal and inventive, with ingredients sourced from Riverford farm. From beautifully grilled fish and black rice to hearty roasts and vegetarian specials, every plate feels fresh and intentional. The drinks list is equally impressive — organic wines, craft beers, and a few surprises like orange wine that pair beautifully with the food. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, with staff who genuinely care and a crowd that feels local and engaged. Whether you’re dining or just enjoying a drink, it’s easy to settle in and stay awhile. Highlights Britain’s first certified organic pub — and proud of it Seasonal dishes with bold flavours and ethical sourcing Excellent wine and beer selection, all organic Cozy, stylish interior with a warm, community vibe Final Thought The Duke Organic is more than a meal — it’s a statement. Delicious, responsible, and quietly special. If you’re looking for a place that feeds both body and soul, this one’s a keeper.
Been here twice "in a row" - dinner and lunch. Ambience is a bit on the "shabby chique"-side - though reduced colours and calm atmosphere are very welcome in comparison to traditional pubs with a large palette of schemes. Furniture is not very inviting, no cushions, just hard wooden chairs on not very much decorated naked wooden tables. Real tissue serviettes, though. Menu is clearly most vegetarian or vegan. Dishes are very well portioned are prepared with a really good view on the seasoning side - for Germans there is alack of salt, but that's the way british recipies work. Everything can be ordered "to share" which makes it more likely that orders are not beyond guests capacities. Presentation is rather frugal on the plate but the tastes are very well balanced and sometimes rather couragous on the spicy side. Drinks menu is on the blackboard, beers are well kept and all bio-oriented. The UBU ale is a bit too "bready" in taste to invite for more than two but the biodynamic lager is a delight. Pricewise very ambitious with a clear range above normal pub pricing plus a service charge of additional 12,5 %. That equals to approximately "double what You expect". Dinner with just beers and no cocktails can easily reach over 80 GBP for two and even the "low price"-offer for lunch with three courses for 20 GBP ends with a bill of around 60 GBP in the end for two. It's not an address I would see regularly due to this slightly exaggerated pricing but it's always worth a visit to see and taste modern british kitchen - once in a while.
Deserving of Time Out’s ‘best Sunday lunch in London’? Not quite. Had a booking but had to wait 20 minutes for table to become available. Tried ordering a drink at the bar but was told they were too busy and better to wait until at table. Food was generally very good and you can’t deny the owners’ ethos and ethics in using organic ingredients. Whilst the meat and accompaniments were all very tasty and well cooked, the roast potatoes let them down. Also begrudge having to pay an additional charge for more gravy. Service a little haphazard and felt there was an element of organised chaos. Would I eat there again? Yes, but would not make a special trip.
Spacious, peaceful, great food and staff. Organic produce… so a touch more expensive. Good spot for a sunny lunch outside (if you can grab a table at 12, when the pub opens!), always book ahead on Sundays.
The Duke of Cambridge, Hoxton. A fine place with a chameleon atmosphere. Beer is fine, both cask and keg. However, not to my taste. I don't need hops for flavour! The people here are lovely, both customers and staff. Have a great time here.
Unfortunately, the place does not offer enough variety. On the evening I was there, most ingredients, food- and drink wise, were not available, so it was quite difficult to choice. Nonetheless, the waitress was very kind and attentive
They have several vegan food options. The price you pay is fair for the complexity of the main. It consisted of many layers and different ingredients. The environment is cosy and welcoming.
As a fan of Sunday Roasts, I decided to try it out with friends for the first time. The place has a nice, spacious atmosphere and friendly staff. However, as someone who enjoys variety, I was disappointed by the limited roast options – only two were available, and I was really craving lamb or pork. Additionally, the prices seemed excessive, especially £28 for a chicken roast without the bone, or £11 for a glass of wine. Despite these drawbacks, our visit was pleasant, but expect a hefty bill for a typical Sunday roast experience!
The good bits: Great atmosphere, lovely interior and felt super cozy. The wine and beer selection was fantastic. The cons: My roast was alright! The lamb was okay but not amazing, a little tough. I enjoyed the veggies but quite standard. The roast potatoes were overcooked/slightly burnt. The Yorkshire pudding went hard right after it cooled down. My girlfriend had the chicken and chorizo pie which was also quite basic but had a big price. Was expecting much more because of the price and it all being organic. Have had far better roasts for cheaper.
Surprised to have had such poor service today at The Duke. We had to wait to be seated, and once at the table we sat for over 20 minutes before anyone came to take our order & eventually we had to ask. We were all starving and requested some bread and oil to start, but our main meals arrived before the starter and our drinks. The drinks had clearly been sitting on the bar for some time; I had to ask the person who delivered our food to bring them over. No one returned to clear our plates either. The food itself was nice, but for £40 per person the service was really disappointing and completely let the experience down.
This is quite a famous pub in the neighbourhood for its organic beer. I came before for a small bite & was pleased with quality of the food. This time I went with a friend to try a bigger dish. Mine was fine. The fish & black rice was delicious & quite beautifully presented. However, my elderly companion found her lamb too chewy & had left most of it. We were offered a free dessert in return. The pudding was well executed. All in all I still think this is a good option for a bite to eat & a drink.
The place has a great atmosphere. Unfortunately the food was worth only 3.5 stars as the main hero of the dish was overcooked. The meat was in form of little slices, it simply looked and tasted like remains. 0.5 stars down for the service charge. It was good... but not great, not great at all.
We were with friends and I think we all liked the place. The staff were attentive food-wise, the place was nice, good beer {I was drinking the Helles). The men's bathroom was clean but none of the soap dispensers had any soap. I wanted to wash my hands before my meal. I told three staff members once I went upstairs and they acknowledged this and indicated it would be resolved. Over the next two hours nothing was done. Zero soap in the men's bathroom. Then you start thinking, "Do the staff have access to soap"? I mean those that prepare, cook and serve the food? I have no idea but you have to wonder. Does the pub wait until Monday until the cleaning staff come in and refill the soap dispensers. No idea but seriously? This is 2025, post-pandemic and having soap in the dispensers surely must be a no brainer. Shocking. I still don't understand why. Oh, my partner said that the women's toilets only had soap in half of the dispensers. Public health is important.
very disappointing unfortunately. service was ridiculously slow - we received our first round of drinks and a starter after we finished the main meal. prices are wild for the portion size. usually happy to pay extra for good food and friendly service but this was overpriced and unjustified. to top it off a service charge of 12% gets added to the bill. sourdough was great though.
I was here for a Sunday roast lunch, and this is one of the worst dining experiences I had in London in the entire 33 years I have lived in this city. When we ordered, my partner asked for the lamb well done and the waiter told him it's already sliced and it's pink throughout and he should have chicken instead. Eventually there was two people that wanted their lamb well done and he finally agreed for to ask the kitchen to "flash" the meat. When the food finally arrived, it was extremely tasteless and bland, the lamb was two tiny slivers and the chicken was a leg with thigh. No seasoning, aside from a bit of salt. Roast potatoes tasted of nothing, the slice of roast sweet potatoe was burned. The drinks menu had no spirits, just cocktails but they agreed to let us have vodka shots with lemonade (something sugar free and sour). For 2 Sunday roasts, one chicken and one lamb and two double vodkas with nasty sour sugar free lemonade the bill came up to £101. We couldn't even stay until the end of the party (friend's birthday) because those reclaimed hipster primary school chairs were absolutely cutting my blood flow off ... sitting was so uncomfortable I couldn't feel my legs anymore when I got up. My partner (6ft4) couldn't even get his legs under the low table, and left to sit in the car straight after the meal.
Fine if you want to wait 20 minutes to get served; whilst the bored bar staff ignore you and polish glasses instead. Worst service in London.
