We had an incredible dinner at Marquee Moon on Friday night. The set menu was a beautiful mix of flavors - from delicate raw coconut fish to a smoky charred cucumber salad, mussels paired with sweet grapes, and perfectly tender lamb chops. We also tried the pork and seabass mains, both of which were excellent! The wine list and cocktails paired perfectly with the food. The staff were friendly and attentive, the music was fun, and overall it was a vibrant atmosphere. This spot is a gem - we love it and highly recommend!
Had a fantastic time at the Marquee Moon today, we had a dinner reservation and popped in around 6:30, it wasn’t too busy then and service was great, we pretty much ordered almost everything off the menu and every single dish was flavourful and a joy to eat. There was a good selection of wines and drinks, loved that they had a pet nat section on the wine list and some great cocktails. I had the rice washed negroni which was delicious. The standout dishes for me were the beef tartar, the beef rendang pie, the chicken wings and the cucumber salad. The chilli oil served with the prawn crackers was next level good. I thought the raw fish tostado was ok, a little reminiscent of Fanta, the prawns were delicious and were accompanied by a lovely sauce, the chanterelle hash was a little lacking in flavour and seasoning and the pork collar was a little on the sweet side for my liking, the crispy potato’s were delicious however they weren’t very crispy. Sticky toffee pudding was great, somehow crispy but this added to the texture of it. Overall I really enjoyed my night at the marquee moon and would love to stop by again and try some of the other dishes on the menu, the chefs did a fantastic job and the service was excellent. 10/10
Loved the food, make sure to try the cheeseburger! The staff were all very friendly and super helpful, we had a gf member of our group and they made sure to highlight all the dishes they could have, lots of options too! Don’t forget to try the margarita, its delicious!
Absolutely delicious! Had dinner on Saturday night and it was incredible. The beef pie is an absolute must, amazing flavours. The papaya salad was also so fresh and had a great texture. The short rib was also very juicy and flavoursome. Will definitely be back!
Loved this place! Our team went for dinner. The food was so good and tasty! The service was 5 stars, and then a dj started playing music too. Highly recommend
Lovely energetic Sunday afternoon Deli dining experience at The Marquee Moon. Great vibe with the DJ, which wasn't overly loud, and a nice concise menu with delicious flavours.
Had an incredible night at Marquee Moon in Stoke Newington. This place nails that perfect balance between trendy new spot and seriously good food. By the time we got there, it already had a great buzz, but things really started to get busy around 10pm when the DJ came on and turned the place into a full-on vibe. We came as a group of seven and shared a bunch of dishes : The chicken wings, the pumpkin salad, the prawns, The sea bass, the pork loin and the crispy potatoes. Their spicy margaritas were also great! If you’re looking for a fun night out with friends or just want to eat some top-tier food in a lively setting, Marquee Moon is a must. Will definitely be back.
had the most wonderful time here. didnt have a reservation and it was super busy but the staff was so accommodating snd lovely. food was excellent; especially loved the beef rendang pie, cheeseburger, fried chicken, and the yuzu spritz. fantastic experience
Very nice place with cosy atmosphere. Food was delicious, slightly more spicy than I like. We were waiting for the dessert long, but finally got it for free because of that - kudos to the service. Ate with 50% food discount from the Nudge
Had a burger at The Marquee Moon and it was absolutely delicious, juicy, packed with flavour, and perfectly cooked. The vibe is cool and stylish, and the staff were super friendly. Great music, great energy.
One of the best service in town! We had a really great time, the vibe the food and the service. The team was sooo friendly. I spoke to the manager and she was amazing. The small plates were so nice, loved the chicken and the pork belly yummy!!! Great red wine also. Thank you we will be back.
The best veggie roast I’ve ever had! Each piece of food on the plate was full of flavour. We ordered the celeriac and leek pie roast with added masala cauliflower cheese on the side. Portion sizes were very filling. A really fantastic twist on a classic English roast. Service and atmosphere was great with very attentive and welcoming staff.
Really loving this place already. After being swept up into the launch night when passing through Dalston a few weeks back, we came away pretty chuffed that this previously gritty pub-club has undergone an impressive, design-focused glow up. We learnt that the latest incarnation of the Marquis (now fondly known as the Marquee Moon) has been positioned as a restaurant / cocktail / hi-fi bar, & a welcomed new fixture on the ever evolving Stokey high st strip. I’d heard rumblings around the change of hands for this space, and with some digging was pleased to see the revamp now sits with the seasoned owners behind Hackney Wick’s All My Friends & Peckham's The Greyhound. Friendly and warm feel - the launch night felt like a community of friends coming together for a well overdue knees up. We went back the following Sunday to trial the menu (divine - highlights were the sea bream & the watermelon salad). If you’re into your interiors, the downstairs has been unveiled as a seductively lit cocktail bar with a well considered, modest mid-century aesthetic for all your date-night conversation pit desires. Finally, a vast chasm on the high St has been filled, much to the local's delight.
The best burger I've ever had! A delicious flavor, very slightly spicy revealing the incredible sweetness at the end, meat cooked to perfection and juicy. One is not enough to describe how good this experience is, thanks to the chefs for the Excellent cooking art.
The food from the new menu was absolutely DIVINE. Gorgeous little pub, great vibes and nice staff.
The Marquee Moon is the the newest imagining from the team behind All My Friends in Hackney Wick, The Greyhound in Peckham and The Cause nightclub This is the statement fun the website: The Marquee Moon is a new restaurant, cocktail & hi-fi bar from the team behind The Cause & All My Friends. Expect an eclectic sharing menu based on a twist on contemporary pub classics - with an emphasis on East Asian flavours complemented by a refined and inventive cocktail offering. Later in the evening, the focus will turn to the hi-fi sound system manned by an array of selectors, programmed by The Cause, playing esoteric selections through ‘til 3am. Set over two floors, reservations are now open for our restaurant, bar or cocktail lounge. So far the food is great and the beer i us crisp and cold. The ground floor is a classic pub and the bsdement is cool cocktsil bar with plenty of comfy booths, Pop in and check it out
Incredible venue, smart, clean, great service and some awesome independent drinks on including Crafty Blends Cider, Big Smoke and there own House Lager.
One of the best roasts in London. Defintely coming back to check the main menu. Very coo decor and friendly staff. Dj booth and speaker system is a nice touch.
Don’t be sleeping on the MM. Best restaurant in London! Great food great value great staff great times.
The Cause have outdone themselves with a gorgeous interior that’s perfect for an atmospheric meal, cocktail night with friends or late night boogie. It’s a one stop shop for it all! Not to mention the team are fantastic (you can see they’re really pouring a lot of love into the venue) and the food coming out of the restaurant here is some of the best I’ve had in London. Expect it to be fully booked for dining services in the coming months as marquee moon makes it onto the dining scene radar.
Went for drinks after a gig this weekend and really loved the vibe. It’s so nice to have somewhere to go in dalston late for a proper drink with really good music that feels grown up. Gorgeous interior, and I didn’t eat but the food looks really good too. Such a good addition to this area.
Came for the roast. I was a bit panicked after reading the reviews that the space might be a bit hectic for a roast but it was a really lovely environment. The food was brilliant as well, can’t recommend enough. If I had to offer one piece of feedback, I’d consider a more traditional roast potato as I reckon it would be better with the (banging) gravy. And maybe add some pudds. 10/10 would come again though (also, dog friendly for my fellow dog owners)
We did the £40 set menu for a friends birthday. Was absolutely outstanding! Cocktails were delicious, service was great. Food was so good. Loved the fish tacos.
We absolutely loved our Easter Sunday experience at The Marquee Moon for our friend's "We Are the Sunset" party! What a genuinely lovely crowd of like-minded dancers, creating such a positive and welcoming atmosphere. The DJs were truly impeccable, keeping the energy high all night. A massive shout out to the bar staff who were absolutely amazing and so much fun! Even though it seemed like they might have been a little short-staffed (understandably so on a bank holiday), they did an incredible job keeping up with our group's... enthusiastic thirst! They were efficient, friendly, and really added to the overall enjoyment of the evening. While we didn't eat on this occasion due to a serious overindulgence in Easter chocolate, we've been before and can attest to the exquisite small plates they offer. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. What really sets The Marquee Moon apart is the incredibly relaxed and friendly environment. It's a bit of a novelty to find a place in London that feels so genuinely welcoming and unpretentious. And a special mention for our favourite bartender, Coley! An absolute legend with just the right amount of banter and sarcasm to keep you entertained while you wait for your drink. A real asset to the place. I highly recommend The Marquee Moon if you're looking for a proper pub/restaurant set-up with an extra slice of fun and a fantastic atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!
Lovely little gem of a place. Recently attended to have cocktails & drinks with the girls. Lovely atmosphere from the moment we arrived, the staff were very attentive. The food was fabulous and portion sizes were generous. So much so that I ended up taking the Dan Dan noodles home with me. Highly recommend the cucumber cooler, could have easily drank several of these. We will certainly be visiting again.
Always a great evening out with a delicious and inventive menu which always leaves us full and happy. A good variety of non alcoholic drinks options as well. The service is great - very friendly and attentive - this was especially noticeable when we had an early birthday drinks here for my partner. Kitchen and waiting staff were very accommodating with the birthday cake.
Really great evening at The Marquee Moon. The food was truly exceptional. Best crispy potatoes I've ever had! The tiger prawns in orange honey were amazing. Try as much of the menu as you can.
Love it here! Had a work Christmas party recently and it was brilliant and all the staff were so attentive! Lovely food and great cocktails. Went back since with some mates and had a great time. Happy someone has done something with the venue 💖
I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Marquee Moon and I can't stop thinking about how incredible each dish was. The highlight of the evening was definitely the Mushroom Parfait — an absolutely delicious combination of rich & savoury, this is a must try! Right alongside that, the Beef Rendang Pie was a showstopper. The tender & flavourful beef in the pie's flaky crust was the perfect balance of spice and warmth, and it felt like a comforting twist on a traditional favourite. I could easily see myself coming back just for that dish alone. The place had a vibey but relaxed feel, with a DJ setting the mood for a fun evening. It was the perfect mix of great food, good music and an inviting environment. Needless to say, I will definitely be returning soon — it’s one of those places that makes you want to come back again and again!
Genuinely one of the best burgers I've had in London. £15 for pint and burger x
We came here because we’re big fans of their club in east London, the Cause. We loved it! We mainly came to eat dinner - we shared the fish sando, the beef pie, peas and a special which was pork croquettes. Everything was delicious - small plates that were notable for their amazing sauces. The pie in particular was so good with buttery pastry, melting meat, and a beautiful gravy. We also had the caramel bread pudding and enjoyed that a lot as well. The staff were attentive and the clientele and vibes were cool. Will have to come back and hear the DJs. What a dream to have this as a new local!
The food is absolutely delicious. Every plate is packed full of amazing flavour. Highly recommend the pickled tomato and watermelon salad! The mango margarita in particular is something I'll be returning for. I'd recommend the Marquee Moon to anyone wanting to have a bit of a "vibe" and buzzier atmosphere when dining, the food is high end without being pretentious and so is everything about this pub.
I had my birthday drinks downstairs and the vibe is amazing, great ambience and lighting and decor. The staff is really chill too. Great music set by the DJ.
Came here for Valentine’s Day and damn that was good. Amazing all round. They had a set menu, really well priced and decent wine pairing. Service was EXCELLENT and food was even better. Struggled to decide what was best in the menu but the coconut raw fish was outstanding
We are here for the second time and wow, the food is SO good. The first time we came was for a Sunday Deli Pop Up and everything was delicious. This time we had the crispy short rib, coconut sea bass and some sides. Everything was excellent but the short rib and sea bass were 10/10… such good flavours and perfectly put together with the flatbread, pickled veg and herbs and sauces. Wow! We’ll be back soon. Also had really good margs and lovely service from the team.
The food is really good, and decently priced. Quite original takes on things, such as the rendang pie - looked and tasted great. The service is really friendly, but does lack a bit of polish. Found myself craning my head around more often than I wanted to try to get some service. A good front-of-house manager would sort this out in no time. Don’t let that put you off though, it’s well worth going out of your way for a visit.
After two weeks sober and a brief rehabilitation period in Wimbledon, my friend and I journeyed from SW19 to E8. No more parties in E8…..we stumbled across the Marquee Moon via the birthday celebration of a friend of a friend who is now a friend. We were five hours late to the party. The photographer here does a thorough job I think she got about 55 photos of my friend from every angle. I’ll be real the vibe was good but the tables were wobbly, perhaps with all the cash from 12 pound vodka soda limes the table legs could be revisited. We had a great time but it just wouldn’t be real of me if I wasn’t honest about the tables. The staff working the floor were really lovely and the interior design was cute. 🧊🎠🍸
sat here for a free drinks late on a weekday and was still a bubbly atmosphere. staff are great and the ambience is warm and inviting. window seats and booths are great. recommend the marquee lager. food looked really good
Visited The Marquee Moon for a private party . Had food upstairs beforehand . All the food looked good , prawns especially . We had The cheese burger which was delicious , poor value as did not come with fries or anything . Downstairs to the party and everybody enjoyed themselves .
The food was very tasty, albeit portion sizes quite small for the price. Service needs a lot of work, but appreciate they haven’t been open long. We were waiting 45 mins for our wine and water to come even after a couple of nudges/reminders. A nice ambience in there too although as the evening got on it was pretty packed with people standing in any space possible. Would visit again.
Sadly a really mid experience, the starters were good but the rest of the dishes were on a bit of a downward spiral. Service was okay, definitely still settling in the pace and training up their staff, they're all friendly overall but some things got lost along the way. Cocktails were really good, and I might come back for those, but I wouldn't go as far as recommending the dining experience.
The nut roast was really dry and bland. I don’t recommend it.
We were a table of six having the Sunday roasts. A variety of options were chosen by the group, I had the vegetarian option which was a nut roast. If I’m honest, we were all fairly disappointed. Roast potatoes seemed more deep fried and in no way fluffy, the veg was a single carrot or two and some cabbage, I’d normally take a photo but was pretty underwhelmed. Yorkshire pudding was small and underwhelming. It’s a shame as the reviews were previously really good so maybe a momentary blip or the kitchen has changed hands. Service was excellent though, we were allowed to try some different wines before choosing and very friendly team front of house
Nice atmosphere. Busy on a Saturday night but found a table. Missing items on food order, and didn’t arrive for 1h15m. Staff happily refunded but do not recommend for food and drinks on a busy weekend night
Visited on 12th July - place was very busy. Took over 10 -q15 minutes to get served every time we went the bar and usually one drink was wrong (soda not tonic, beer not shandy). The food looked really good but was put off as bar staff use hands to put fruit in drinks - not just one server and not just one time. Music was not to my taste (maybe getting too old) and air con only worked at the front so was uncomfortably hot.
Service and food were both dreadful. Who needs a DJ set playing whilst you're having a roast? Portions were tiny, gravy was beyond watery, the veggie option replacement (because they didn't have what was on the actual menu) was literally just a deep-fried piece of celeriac?? The staff didn't seem to know what was going on and the bill came to £90 for 3 people without any alcohol. It's a no.
I'm a local been at this bar a number of times refused entry and was soba because I was a single male alone just finished work thought I would pop in for a drink the door staff said I can't come in it's not the sort of bar where enyone kick off ask to see manager his skills very poor best what he should of done is let me in he could see I was not a problem 🤔I also let them look at my driving license this is discrimination at a big level I remember when the bar first opened not long ago thay where begin people to come in if ur a single local male wanting to pop in for a quick drink after work thay will not let you in go to a different Bar Dalston has meny other bars which don't discriminate singel males I even had my I'd with me and was not rude or drunk I was in shock the manger said its there policy definitely needs to changed that policy is definitely not for Dalston people and I don't even think thay need door staff there 🤔
oversold tickets on NYE so dozens of us who bought tickets weeks ago were literally out in the cold as the new year rolled over. Super lame. Guy at front door denied having oversold tickets and was a proper duck. Sound system mediocre. health and safety infraction level crowdedness inside
Where do I start. Quiet bank holiday Sunday with a reservation. Two non responsive guys on the bar sort of eyes glazed over, moving at the speed of a sloth. 3 of us waited at basically an empty bar for 15+ minutes for a drink at the bar each time. After we were finally seated at our table (10+ people) no one really bothered to come and take our order. So a few of us just ordered at the bar. Only then did the girl reluctantly come over and take a few orders. Ordered our food which come out randomly and on average at least 30 minutes, despite 3 guys who seemed to be mucking around. One order took 45 minutes for a simple sandwich. Further, one dish didn't arrive (we ordered two of them) and only after 30 minutes of wondering where it was, we managed to catch a guy at our table who was there to clear some glasses (finally). We told him only 1/2 dishes arrived and he was like 'oh yeah we ran out of that'. Great communication. He got the manager who came over and said 'which one of you am I talking to about this dish' and we were all made to feel like it was our fault for even asking. He offered to 'see what the kitchen can make' but everyone had already long finished eating by this point. Offered a free drink and some fries (frozen supermarket chips) as a consolation for something I'd already paid for that never arrived. Whole vibe of the place and staff was very strange. Stuffy, hot, noisy. Staff, for some reason, thought they were too cool for even the most basic requests. Get a grip (or find another job you're happy in).
I booked a table for a group of 6 on open table for the same day. Unfortunately our plans changed almost immediately and I attempted to cancel my reservation. Unusually, the Marquee Moon chooses to operate a strict same day no cancellation policy and despite trying, there was absolutely no way to be able to contact the restaurant (phone line always goes to answer phone, instagram message not replied too e.t.c), I was unable to cancel and in response to my polite and apologetic email, told that I would have to pay £15 pp. I spent the next week emailing the manager who kept tight personal control over this issue, refusing to appreciate that I had attempted to warn them in advance of not being able to attend. She even made an inconsistent narrative about the phone line not working/being too loud for staff to hear it, when I had tried to call several times every day to discuss the issue over the phone. Her excuses were clearly inconsistent and her manner and service about this issue was quite shocking and unreasonable. After a long argument when I was eventually able to arrange a phone call with the manager, she reluctantly agreed to not charge me. I couldn't believe her determination to pursue this issue. A terrible experience and great hassle which I would never expect. I think the strategy behind the management of this establishment is quite clear and I will never part with my money here. I can only wonder what other issues there are. In such a fragile market, good luck achieving a long and healthy business!
