This place is a gem hiding in plain view! I’ve been meaning to try for ages; there’s usually a queue out the door but I finally visited with my partner on the spur of the moment when it wasn’t too busy. We had namul (mixed pickled veg), which was flavourful, the bulgogi stir fry was mouth-wateringly good, and the yangnyeom fried chicken was crisp and sweet with a hint of spice. Also had the chicken bibimbap, which was a fantastic blend of flavours and textures. Service was good, although I can’t comment on how it is when busy. Will definitely go again and highly recommend! P.S. if you are careful with what you order, the macros are quite good as well (if you care about that stuff!)
Authentic Korean classics. We had some really juicy fried chicken (very large portions!) and a very generous budae jjigae for two. We're so full! The service was warm and authentic, from a team that's always smiling. I saw many other customers having happy interactions with staff. 🙂 That joy is infectious and appetising! We were asked to move to a different table shortly after we made our order so they could make room for a table of four. It was a really minor inconvenience to us and we really didn't mind at all, but the staff was empathetic. They apologised a few times and treated us a complimentary drink on the house. We weren't expecting it but it's a nice gesture. 🤝🏻 The ladies room was clean and tidy too. A restaurant that pays attention to the restroom always scores an extra point! We'll be back if we're in the area again. 🙂
My partner and I tried here on Sunday evening for the first time. I'd never had Korean food before so was very excited to try. My partner had tried it a few times so he knew what to order. Usually Masigo is really busy whenever we've past it, but it was nice and quiet when we went. We tried a good few things off the menu, including the seafood pancakes, and namul (which was my favourite), the beef bulgogi, and the fried chicken. Everything was delicious. The servers were also very attentive, and everything came out with minimal waiting time. Will definitely be going again.
The Masigo Korean restaurant provided an exceptional dining experience for both vegetarians and meat-eaters. The service was impeccable, and the food was incredibly delicious. From the flavorful appetizers to the satisfying main courses, every dish was a culinary delight. Whether you were craving a hearty meat-based meal or a satisfying vegetarian option, the restaurant had something to offer everyone. ♡
Best fried chicken I've had in my life. Kimbap ans dumplings were perfect aswell. The spicy food can be really spicy though, so be careful. Was busy but waiters were polite and got the orders right. If I'm back in London sometime I will definitely go again. It is not cheap, but the prices are perfectly reasonable for the amount and quality you're getting
Super authentic Korean food ran by Koreans. We tried the seafood pancake, Kimchi jigae, kimchi fried rice and the Korean fried chicken. All were absolutely amazing. Very very reasonably priced as well. All of these are £47! What's even better is that they don't do the 10% discretionary charge! Would definitely want to gate keep this one.
I had the pleasure of trying Korean food for the first time at this restaurant, and it was truly an amazing experience! The flavors were rich and unique, and each dish was well presented. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a memorable meal. I was a bit nervous about trying something new, but I’m so glad I did. I’ll definitely be returning to explore more of the menu. Highly recommend this place for anyone curious about Korean cuisine!
Love this local Korean restaurant! We tried the yangnyeom Korean fried chicken, kimchi stew, and jjajangmyeon, and each dish was exceptional. ⭐️ Yangnyeom boneless fried chicken - crispy and perfectly seasoned with a delicious sweet and spicy sauce. ⭕️ Kimchi stew - a rich, flavorful broth with just the right amount of heat, and it was packed with fresh ingredients. ⭕️ Jjajangmyeon - savory and comforting, with a thick, tasty black bean sauce that coated the noodles beautifully. Portions were very generous, and the overall value for money was excellent. Highly recommend this place!
Walked here from Camden via Regents canal..... worth every step..... arriving shortly after opening... seated immediately but the restaurant filled up quickly after 12.30.....filled with Korean's which speaks volumes. Food was served quickly and good portions. Staff were lovely....and the food was amazing 😍. The kimchi pancake was the best I've eaten.
A very cute and satisfying Korean restaurant in Angel. The soy garlic fried chicken was delicious, the Korean bbq was so worth it and really cheap for the quality and amount (loved the galbi!), the rib soup was super yummy as well! We went there two nights in a row! The only one I wasn’t that big of a fan of was probably the bibimbap, it was good but I wished the beef had more flavour and my bottom was more crispy with the hot stone:) but overall still super good, I’d definitely recommend!
Hands down the most authentic Korean food! I didn’t expect much when coming here but the food surprised me. 🥹 The fried chicken is the star of the show. I recommend having it over some beer since it’s a little salty. But it’s just soooooo goooooood 🤤 The chicken is so crispy, the sauce is spicy and sweet. We also tried the bulgogi. My bf loved it so much! He said it’s the best bulgogi that he’s ever tried 🫶🏻 Black bean noodle was sooooo authentic. It’s hard to find this kind of noodle in Europe so I’m impressed. 💕 Highly recommend 👍🏻
The staff were friendly and patient, and the smell upon entering the restaurant was enticing. I had the sundubu jiggae and tteokbokki, both were well spiced and flavoured, and the sea food flavour in the jiggae was perfect. The restaurant itself was very clean, and the lighting was nice too. I would definitely visit again!!
This is one of my favorite Korean restaurants in London! The food here is always really fresh, and tastes so good (like home cooking). The staff members and the owner is also very nice, friendly and polite. Food are reasonably priced, but keeps going up - in line with inflation and the economic trends. This is to be expected - and its okay, so long as the food quality remains amazing! Highly recommend!
Just had a wonderful dinner here tonight. The restaurant was busy—we waited about 15 minutes for a table, but the food came quickly. We ordered a dolsot bibimbap, stew with rice, and Korean fried chicken. The chicken portion was huge and we only finished half. Authentic Korean food and great service, especially from the very friendly young man. Will come again—highly recommended!
Very good food and quick service. Budget about £25 for food and more for drinks. They don't take bookings but there wasn't a queue on a weeknight, especially if you arrive earlier, and we didn't feel pressured to leave.
I went there to celebrate my son’s birthday. As an Asian and a lover of Korean food, I found this place to be my comfort zone. The food is extremely good and reasonably priced, and the staff were very nice. We brought a cake from outside to celebrate the birthday, but sadly it wasn’t allowed, which we understood because of their rules. However, when we were done eating and ready to leave, the staff greeted us, gave my son a free drink, and even wished him a happy birthday. We really appreciated their kindness. All in all, this place is highly recommended.
Very tasty Korean Fried Chicken, I went for Gochu chilli & garlic version. My friend had the Yuk Gae Jang Beef soup with egg, vegetable & glass noodle for which he was similarly impressed with. Service was polite & efficient.
Went for dinner there. The food was really good! Would recommend the kimchi jigae and the fried chicken. The pork stir fry was my fav. Also very reasonably priced for the quality of the food.
Great service. As a costumer it made me want to come again, which I did. The food is amazing and reasonably priced. An authentic experience. A clean environment which I think everyone wants to hear when it comes to a restaurant. Definitely going there again!
authentic korean food, great value and taste amazing. Definitely have to try the korean fried chicken, massive portion for £15.
Quick friendly service the food was delicate to look at with deep flavours, a free smoky sweet and salty soy covered lettuce and red onion, the tempura tofu had a light spring onion and soy, the bulgogi dup bap had a lightly barbecued marinade with sticky rice
Great vibe, friendly team. It was our first Korean bbq so they kindly helped explain how the different meats are traditionally eaten. Very tasty flavour combinations. I do recommend to order less Korean bbq and more sides/veggies, as it’s a lot of meat
This place is amazing! The service was great and the food was even better. Didn’t have a booking but was still able to get a seat without waiting long. I definitely enjoyed the food and will be back for more very soon.
really good restaurant and the lunch set is fantastic and delicious. love the vibe here, makes you feel pretty warm
Had dinner here last night and everything was perfect! The Korean fried chicken was amazing! Pleased our girl who didn't think she liked Korean food. Our group also shared and enjoyed kimbap, bibimbap, mandu, vegetable pancake, jabchae and some yummy banchan. Meant to order bulgogl but forgot and as it turned out we had a good amount of food and went away very satisfied and rather in awe of the price. $88 USD to feed 6 people.
The staff were delightful. Everyone was really responsive and helpful. The food was great as well. The fried chicken was yummmm! Big portions and great value for money.
The atmosphere was actually really nice—cozy and well put together. The food wasn’t really to my taste, but my partner really enjoyed it, so it might just come down to personal preference. Service was okay—no complaints, but also no one really engaged with us, which made it feel a bit impersonal. Overall, it's an average experience, but it could be worth checking out if you’re into Korean cuisine
I've popped in here a few times for lunch in the afternoon, it's busy in a good way, the way that shows the food is good. Never had a problem getting a table for food. Lots of people are in during their lunch break. The Food is very good, you can pick up a rice box with veg 3 dumplings and a choice of 3 types of meat for £9 plus a %10 service charge. They do amazing Korean sweet chilli chicken wings 12 for £15, very nice
A good spot to try! The value for money here is fantastic, you get SO much food for how much you pay. Highly recommend the kimchi pancake, the dipping sauce with it was great. The tteokboki is also very good. The Korean fried wings, although great value and taste, were quite oily. Less oil in the plating would make them perfect. The beef bulgogi was good but could do with more vegetables, it is a lot of just beef! The service and atmosphere is great and the food altogether is delicious. I would absolutely come here again but hopefully those small changes are encouraged :)
Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised—this place is actually pretty good! The food tastes quite authentic. I usually go to my regular Korean spot in Soho, but since this one is closer to home, I decided to give it a try. I ordered the kimchi soup, pork and squid stir-fry, and japchae—great portion size for two people and everything was flavorful. The only downside was the flavored soju. I didn’t realize it was £11.50 a bottle, which is almost the same price as a main dish. Definitely wouldn’t recommend getting drinks here—just come for the food. The restaurant has plenty of seating and wasn’t crowded, even on a Saturday night. Overall, a solid spot for Korean food if you’re in the area.
Nice korean restaurant with good food and very reasonable prices. Wasn't blown away by the food, but it was all quite tasty. Particularly liked the japchae, and the seafood stew was also very good. I don't think it's worth the super long queue (I've had as good korean food elsewhere without the long wait) but is worth coming by when it's quieter :)
What a lovely lovely dinner we had here. The food came out pipping hot (which I love!!) and the seafood pancakes crispy - sometimes places serve them too oily which makes the batter soggy. The gangjang KFC wings were to die for 🍗. I was initially VERY apprehensive about the seafood tteokbokki (soup noodle dish) #sensoryoverload I thought it was going to taste fishy and spicy and just wrong. But everything about it was so right; it was sweet and soupy and no fishy aftertaste. Will definitely running back for more. Our waiter was so patient and kind with us and provided us with his faves. Always go for grape soju! 🍇 5 ⭐️for value for money and taste.
Tempted to try this Korean food restaurant near Angel. I was served with a mini bowl of tiny salad with very light dressing while waiting for my food. It's such a very nice touch of a service. I had Steamed tofu (£4.50) for my starter and Beef Dolsot Bibimbap for the main (£10.50). The steamed tofu was so simple but so good. It was perfectly cooked, not overcooked or undercooked. It comes with 6 pieces of bite-size tofu. The Beef Dolsot Bibimbap, however, I found it too dry. I'd much prefer beef Bibimbap from a Korean food stall in Whitecross Market with much better and bigger portions of the beef. The drinks menu was ok. Nothing was so special as mostly you can find it in the Korean store nearby. Another downside is that they have a 10% service charge every Mon - Fri after 5pm and all day in the weekends (Sat and Sun). They accept cards payment for a minimum of £10, which is fair. :)
Really great, authentic Korean food. The Korean Fried Chicken and Tteokbokki were incredible. A really varied menu with lots of different options, including some good vegetarian options. It's walk in only, and during busy times it can be a bit of a wait, but it's really worth it.
A very good family run Korean restaurant serving some fine Korean comfort food down Chapel Market in Angel. V friendly staff, well priced and adds to this otherwise quite traditional market street with its cafes, fried chicken and pie and mash shops. I’ve been through most of the menu and so far the food is delicious.
Good price. No service charge which i value a lot nowadays in London Food was fresh, served fast. Nice cozy restaurant. I ordered a Bimbibap and it was a bit flavourless.
The taste of food is very good, but the seafood in the soup and the chicken meat is not very fresh. If the food quality gets improved it will be perfect.
Stumbled across this place a few days ago. Found out later the hygiene rating is 2 stars and not 5 stars as displayed in the window. Nevertheless, the food was fresh and delicious and no major issues. It is sort of a ‘hello, eat your food and get out’ place. I had the chicken with garlic and soy sauce lunch in a compartmentalised box. It was all good and tasty and did the job of satisfying hunger. However, the garlic and soy sauce on the chicken was too sweet and too salty. Overall a very good experience.
We have been loyal customers for as long as we have been living in the area- around 6 years or so. Masigo was a true hidden gem in London. It was a Korean restaurant with a lovely Korean lady and her team minding the kitchen, a floor full of Korea and East Asian staff. My dining companion and I are both also of East Asian descent and it was such a beloved food destination for us. The food has been authentic and the quality and cooking undeniable- UNTIL yesterday. The contrast was so sharp and glaringly and it was immensely disappointing that I am compelled to post this- since we were not able to get a straight response to our query and complaints on the night- which I would have preferred, I would not be posting this if we had been able to speak with a manager or had been able to find out what happened behind the scene at the restaurant, but the waiters did not speak good enough English (perhaps they were pretending, I don't know, but I am giving 5 stars for the service as the quality of the food was not the wait staff's fault) for us to even explain why the food was all wrong. They also could not tell us if there were a manager that we could at least ask if there had been a change of ownership etc. One of them started working there 2 months ago and another 2 weeks ago! The fried chicken was not only NOT crispy, but actually watery- and I am not talking juicy. It was watery and the sauce (the iconic sweet and spicy Korean sauce) was watery. The meat was cooked, but it was most definitely not fried chicken. There was hardly any crispy coating on the outside, and the chicken inside was tough to chew yet surprisingly bland. It was all wrong. And the Glass noodle dish was also immediately, visibly different. The minute that I picked some of the noodles up from the plate, the sauce was watery, when it should be sticky and thick with flavour- for 6 years, this never happened. The rice was okay but there was just too much wrong. Then my friend and I looked through the tiny window into the kitchen, and the whole kitchen was staffed with a totally different crew- not a single Korean person or East Asian person (man or woman regardless) in sight- hey, every nation can learn to cook a different cuisine- and I would not even have noticed if all the dishes had just worked as usual! Though the pancake with Kimchi was fine, the glass noodles and the fried chicken were so sub par, that it would not pass at other generic takeaway places, let along Masigo. Knowing how proud people of South Korea are about their cuisine, I cannot imagine that this would be the same owner. Yet our query with the waiters was met with "I'm sorry, I only started here (2 weeks ago, 2 months ago), I really don't know". We said "I understand, is there a manager that we can ask?" "I really don't know, sorry, really sorry." And that is why I am posting this here. Will this get me a response from Masigo? But then, if the ownership has totally changed hands, then perhaps they no longer care as much and they would not be bothered with this review. Masigo was a one-off restaurant that was not only authentic, the food was unfailingly delicious and the rare thing of not being a chain. I really hope to get some kind of response, at least to clarify what happened behind at scene at the restaurant, and so we can make an informed choice in the future.
I’m surprised by the 5-star reviews here. The food was just average. The BBQ meat was the lowest point—thinly sliced, dry, and chewy. The ssam and spring onion salad were underwhelming, and while the fried chicken had a crispy batter and tender meat, it lacked flavor. The cold noodles were bland as well. On the positive side, the kimchi fried rice and kimbap were quite good. Portion size was also decent. However, overall, I didn’t enjoy the food here and wouldn’t return, unfortunately
The food was really good, but unfortunately our experience was affected by an uncomfortable interaction with a member of staff. We were given the bill only about 30 minutes after our food was served, even though none of us had asked for it and one of my friends was still eating and her bowl was half full. When the card machine was brought to our table, we felt quite rushed to finish and leave. We weren’t being disruptive, and there were other customers who had arrived before us and were still dining, so this made us feel a bit uncomfortable. One of my friends even ended up with indigestion from having to rush her meal. As regular customers at Masigo, we were quite disappointed by this experience and hope it can be handled more considerately in the future.
Nice Korean Friend Chicken was nice, coating was thin and crispy. But the Korean Cold Noodle was…well, didn’t taste like Korean Noodle, very plain, barely had any sweet and sour taste at all. Soup was half frozen (I took out half ice cubes before taking the picture), worst cold noodle ever.
This is absolutely disgusting. I don't know how they do it here, but I found several hairs in the food, and the person working in the open kitchen wasn't even wearing a hat. I think I'm going to throw up.
