Opinions de Lola's Mexican Cuisine Long Beach
Very nice servers. We had food and drinks and celebrated some bdays. Would come back again. Everything was perfect 👍🏻
Chips and salsa was good and fresh. The salsa had a nice smoky kick to it. The happy hour was good for $5 margaritas. Got a nice buzz. Also was there 7/29 when a big crash occured just outside the restaurant. The workers there showed great care and concern over their customers and kept us all safe. I was very touched by that and applaud them for their efforts in making sure their patrons were protected from any danger.
Loved the smokey pasilla chilaquiles with birria. Horchata cold brew was also pretty good. I wanted to try some of the mole too, but portions were pretty generous, so I couldn't justify ordering more. Maybe next time!
I read a review that this is one of the most beloved restaurants in Long Beach - I can see why! Its pink/sugar skull decor is so fun. The food was amazing! (I had the guava French toast for brunch; and we loved the dip that came with the chips!) The staff were all super friendly and quick to help. Brian C was our server and he was awesome!
If you are vegan you will fall in love with the flavors at this restaurant! Authentic Mexican cuisine! Menu carnivore / vegan ! Margaritas so delicious! Music is a vibe ! Street tacos with vegan asada !
We had dinner at Lola's while we were on a mini vacation from Ventura County, and we were able to make reservations through Yelp, including special accommodations for my toddler son (aka: a booth) to give us more room. The homemade chips and salsas were excellent. They serve a creamy avocado aioli salsa and a spicy roasted chili salsa. You can taste the garlic in the aoli. We had a couple of draft beers, which were also top notch. My wife had a Modelo and I had a Downtown Brown ale. Delicious! We are vegetarian, and Lola's offers several nutritious entree options besides salads. I ordered the vegetarian combo, which included: TWO POTATO TAQUITOS LAID OVER A BED OF LETTUCE AND TOPPED WITH LOLA’S FRESH GUACAMOLE, SALSA GUAJILLO, SPRINKLED QUESO COTIJA AND DRIZZLED WITH SOUR CREAM, ALONG WITH ONE CHEESE ENCHILADA. SERVED WITH CILANTRO RICE AND REFRIED BEANS. My wife had the butternut squash enchiladas, which included: TWO CORN TORTILLAS STUFFED WITH ARTISANAL JACK CHEESE AND SMOTHERED WITH CREAMY BUTTERNUT SQUASH SAUCE, served with ROASTED FARMERS MARKET VEGTABLES. This dish can also be ordered with an 8 oz sirloin steak. Although they took a while to be served, they were both very delicious. I highly recommend you try Lola's for an authentic Mexican experience in a great setting.
After a tough day filled with some sad news, I found myself needing a meal and decided to stop in here on a whim. I wasn’t expecting much, but it turned out to be exactly what I needed. The atmosphere was full of good vibes, and the service was incredibly personable, kind, and authentic. The food was outstanding—clearly made with love. I don’t usually get emotional over a meal, but this place left me feeling warm and cozy in the best way possible.
Food and service was pretty good. But a little overpriced if you ask me.
Pricey these days but always consistent food and service. I have been coming to this business for years and never a bad day. Parking on 4th Street/ Cherry parking lot.
I loved everything about Lola's! The outdoor patio seating felt like your own backyard. The food was spectacular! And loved the microgreens garnish, so healthy. Had delicious dishes including Mole poblano, butternut squash enchilada, Chile verde. Street corn and Lola's firecrackers were great starters. Beers and margaritas paired well with our food.
Incredible menu, authentic flavours (I’m from Canada, so I’m pretty much an expert on authentic Mexican) and big portions (also, Canadian, so these US portions blow my mind). Great spot to check out the vibes around Long Beach, the right mix of locals and not. You can’t go wrong at Lola’s.
We enjoyed it so much the last time we were in the area ( orderd birra and chile quiles), that we returned again. We tried a bunch of different tacos and the special mole pina. Just heaven the flavors these guys are putting out! Drinks are adventurous, complex and strong. The wait staff are on top of their game, knowledgeable and friendly. And they have clean well cared for restroom. Couldn't be happier or more full!
The three tacos plate and the spicy watermelon margarita was delicious. Every year a group of us from work get together. The service is great but in this last visit it was fantastic! The restaurant is small but there's a good size patio at the back.
Enjoyed outdoor dining in the back patio with family. Ordered a variety of vegetarian and vegan meal options: vegan burrito, potato taquitos, beans and rice. Our waiter, Derek G, checked on us frequently and worked hard to attend to our table's needs. He was well versed in the menu and also suggested different items we could try to make our experience a positive one. We're thankful for bottomless nacho chips and side salsas. With delicious food and great service, we will be back.
Jose was my sever he is phenomenal!! He was informative, super kind, and his energy was so calming. I came Sunday around 2 PM and it was definitely busy, but he made sure to make sure we felt taken care of! This was my first time here, I had a vegan Crunchy tacos. It was absolutely delicious and extremely filling.
I love this place! We eat here all the time!
I've been wanting to go to this place and I'm so glad I did. So authentic and just so delicious. I got the Birria Guadalajara, And it was amazing! Their beans are fabulous. I wish I would have taken a picture but I didn't. But Diana, our waitress, is superb! Thank you Diana for such fabulous service.
I cannot recommend Lola's more for a proper sit-down Mexican restaurant. There's hardly a dish here that leads you wrong. The chips and salsa alone are to die for. The cochinita pibil is an excellent dish as are the street taco offerings. Don't sleep on the mango avocado salad either! With added shrimp, that salad offers the "perfect bite."
I went with a bunch group of 5, they had no problem getting us seated. The service was very good and our server helped us with our questions. We started with an order of stuffed peppers for the table, they were great! Each one of us had plenty of compliments for our particular meals, and drinks, I had a Bloody Mary! This restaurant has a nice twist on everything we had and I'm sure we'll be there again soon!
These people treat you like family They feed you from their home recipes. The location is a little tight. But please venture over here. Enjoy the family enjoy the food.
Okay, fine! The food here is really really good. And the environment is family friendly. And yes … they welcome our dog in the outdoor dining area and make him feel like a king. And yes, these are fantastic margaritas and chips! But most pleasing to us, every single time we come here, is the outstanding service! Tonight our server is Maricela and she is absolutely wonderful. Long live Lola’s of Long Beach!
The food here is very good. This is the Best Salsa I have had in Los Angeles. The salsa they call Green Crack is insanely good. Taco Tuesday did not start until 6:00 p.m. so they recommended something they are very good at. The Cochinita Pibil was delicious. The pork was fall apart tinder and quite succulent, the flour tortillas were fried just right. The hibiscus tea was quite tasty and added to an enjoyable lunch. I will return soon and try their fresh hand made Guacamole to go with their exceptional chips and salsa! I Do recommend this place.
Lolas Mexican Restaurant has two locations in Long Beach. We recently went to the one located on Retro Row / 4th Street for Taco Tuesday. Of course we had the fresh guacamole, tacos, a pitcher of margarita & Jose was a great and attentive waiter. Also enjoy the mole! Good stuff!
Please excuse that I already started eating before taking that picture - I don’t usually review places (or photograph my food). BUT THIS PLACE is amazing!! Everything had such wonderful, full flavor, perfectly cooked, not too much or too little of anything, it was absolute perfection. This was their Sat/Sun brunch, but we are coming back for dinner before we leave town.
Moles are delicious. Last year they had a super delicious Valentines Day pink mole. I highly recommend.
I came here with some girlfriends for happy hour and it did not disappoint. The margaritas were on point and they have a great selection of happy hour appetizers too. I highly recommend the corn and the guacamole. They also have potato taquitos which are a great option for vegetarians. We also had great, attentive service.
One of our regular haunts since opening. Many vegetarian options... my go to is the potato taquitos. We also often order the queso fundido with soyrizo..... pairs well with the amazing green 'crack' sauce... not certain what it contains, but amazingly yummy. Just discovered Ochoa drink... half Jaimica.. works well together.. with the tea cutting the sweetness of the Jamica. Strayed from my usual and ordered the vegetarian butternut squash enchiladas. Butternut squash cream is a nice take on cream sauce, giving it a slightly sweet and buttery taste. Served with a medly of zucchini, tomato and onions. Can't go wrong with anything here. Fun, upbeat atmosphere in a cafe type setting.
Three years ago, my family and myself visited my brother that lives in Long Beach. I am not joking when I say I think about their avocado and mango salad with the pistachio vinaigrette DAILY. I added shrimp and asked for some extra dressing on the side and not only is it the best salad I've ever had, it may have been my most favorite meal of my life. I want to visit again just so I can go to Lola's! 100000000/10!
Just awsome real authentic Mexican food in general. I highly recommend asking for the sauce that they refer to as the quote on quote green crack lol as it goes good on just about everything they make one thing that's so nice about Lobos though is they have fully vegan options and vegetarian options for so much and it's all readily good-tasting I have a pescatarian diet so I usually get a vegan dish and just have them add sour cream and real cheese since I don't eat meat but I eat seafood fish and dairy products. IT services usually good occasionally there's a few waiter says that tend to ignore you and forget things but 90% of the time they're spot-on. And if you are looking for vegan options I highly recommend the appetizer nachos they are made with soy chorizo, and I don't even like to chorizo but they're soyrizo just tastes like a really good kind of sausage that goes with the nachos and they are some of the most detailed and layered nachos I've seen or they put cheese in between the chips and add all kinds of different toppings. and if your male like me know you have to limit your intake of soy as it can add estrogen to your body but small amounts won't hurt you and the nachos are incredible especially when made with regular cheese and just a meat substitute but their vegan cheese is very good as well highly recommend the tacos Dorados with your crispy tacos or the tacos Jalisco that you're more traditional that my vegan friend typically gets every time he goes to Lola's
I came in here today and wow, I gotta say what great service Lupita and Paola gave me and my partner 👍 the food was excellent as well! You need to come and try it yourself!
The Vegan "Chicken" Enchiladas are so good. I eat the entire meal with the nachos so I don't think utensils are necessary. I like red salsa guajillo with the meal. I am super full after eating the meal. I don't know if the restaurant bakes or fries the nachos. Each part of the meal in the container tastes just right.
This place is fabulous. Ingredients are fresh and flavorful. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The flavors and ingredients are extraordinary in the way they are melded together. Do not expect your basic Mexican restaurant. Lupita was our wait staff so if you want a friendly staff to give you the right suggestions for a great meal, ask for her. All staff were great, though. Thanks Lupita!
I really enjoyed Lola's. Wasnt your typical Mexican food joint but their take on it was very respectable and delicious. I ordered the mole burrito and they did half and half green and traditional mole and it was very good. I preferred the green one. I also ordered the Chile Verde Bowl and it was also great with a egg on top. Definitely will come back and would definitely recommend this place.
I visited Lola’s today with my friend and her one year old. It was Taco Tuesday starting at 6pm and we enjoyed $7 margaritas and street tacos for just a few bucks! The entire staff team was super thoughtful and friendly. We’ll definitely be back!
Delicious Mexican food and great cocktails! Friendly fast service. The booths are a bit snug so it might be best to go on a nice sunny day and sit outside. This location is right around the corner from public parking on the corner of 4th and Cherry, making it very convenient. I would recommend the carne asada mulitas, they are just the best!
The food has a real authentic Mexican taste, my favorite are the black mole, the cochinita pibil, and the birria. As far as service, Lupita is the best, although Brian and Diana are very friendly and professional, they all make you feel like you're family. Keep up the good work guys.
OMG SPECTACULAR FOOD AND SERVICE I have lived in close proximity to Lola's my whole life and I've been inside hundreds of times but I've never eaten there until today and I was blown away I've always heard how amazing the food was there but now I know personally wow and the dish I ordered I've never had it good anywhere else vegan chorizo is a hard thing to make taste spectacular but they sure did it I love this place add to top it all off the was not only great but reasonably priced 🙏🏽
Love, love, love their brunch menu so much. The guava french toast and the smoky chilequiles fight for my favorites everytime. They have really good fresh tortilla chips and also the horchata iced coffee is so good. It doesnt matter when I'm there I always want a glass its my absolute favorite. They have nice outdoor seating in front and out back and lots of space inside.
I am vegan and this is my favorite place to eat when I go out. The food is the absolute best and the folks are wonderful. They give just as much importance to their vegan options as they do the rest of the menu, and I can taste it. I so appreciate that and value this place for it.
We went for the 1st. Time yesterday our server was Jose, we believe. We went for our grandma‘s 94th birthday. Jose was very patient with us. Explain the menus the specials and overall made our experience very enjoyable! Being in the service Industry for over 30 years you always appreciate when someone makes sure your experience is nice. We spend a lot of time south of the border, and the Birra tacos We’re on point, Tasted the same as Rosarito! Everything we ordered was great! The blood orange margarita was very tasty. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
The restaurant boasts a fantastic location that really enhances the dining experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff was quick to greet us and exemplified friendly, attentive service throughout our visit. We appreciated the option to sit outdoors, where we could enjoy the fresh air and vibrant atmosphere, or indoors in a cozy setting. One standout item was the watermelon margarita—it was absolutely delicious, perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness and a refreshing finish. The food itself exceeded our expectations as well; each dish was flavorful and well-prepared. We particularly enjoyed the chips and dips, which paired wonderfully with our drinks and added an extra layer of enjoyment to our meal. Overall, it was a delightful outing that we would highly recommend.
Lovely vegan options, clearly labeled! <3 I got the vegan enchiladas and they were so filling and tasty. The side of black beans and rice held up to my scrutiny, lol, very yummy. And lovely covered outdoor seating, too. Lola's does use imitation meats instead of, say, relying solely on something like black beans for protein — which I personally am fine with, but I know some do not prefer imitation meats.
Wow!! I’m so blown away. We came here in a whim since we were in the area and wanted chips and salsa. We sat on the patio and it was absolutely stunning weather. We ordered from the happy hour menu which was delicious and the chips and salsa were so fresh and just well done. They serve two salsas which bring incredible balance to the experience. A creamy avocado salsa that the locals “crack salsa” and a more acidic and bright roasted salsa. The chips are airy and warm. The Birria Queso Fondido is incredible. Shoutout to May, our server. Super friendly, attentive, and just so sweet. Cannot recommend enough!!
$227 for 6 people! The food is really good 🤤. Parking is only street parking so it's kinda hard to find a spot. All the employees were really welcoming helpful and nice. No attitude and they kept checking on us. We got helped and seated right away. It gets busy but we didn't wait too long for our food. My kids had the queso birria tacos and they really enjoyed them. My mother tried the Chile Verde Oaxaca style. My brother had the birria plate. He really liked it a lot. My dad had the birria enchiladas. I told him it stated this place was authentic to his town Guadalajara Jalisco so he was disappointed when he found out the birria was a mixture of pork and veal. Not goat meat. I had some delicious chicken tacos. I tried their pineapple tamarind margarita and it was good! will definitely return. Restrooms are available.
I loved this place. We went for brunch and were able to make reservations faily easy, no wait. We sat promptly and offered indoor or outdoor seating. Our server Paola was very friendly and provided great service. Our food came out faster than I would have thought. It was all so so good! I had their Mexican French Toast, and my friend had the Mexican Eggs Benedict, both delicious. And the cold brew with Horchata? amazing, too. I will definitely be back.
I ordered three crispy vegan tacos served with black beans and rice. My hunnis ordered the asada burrito. The food was very good. The guacamole was very fresh! The waiter was outstanding. The atmosphere was wonderful. Great location (Retro Row in LB). I’ll be back soon to try other foods on the menu.
Food is excellent. It is not typical Mexican food. There is a gourmet take on Mexican food. I had the special for the day. A large Chile stuffed with ground meat, raisins, pomegranate seeds and covered with a cream sauce. The black beans are tasty without too much salt. Excellent service.
I had an amazing dining experience at Lola's Mexican Cuisine! The food was absolutely delicious, with authentic flavors that left my taste buds dancing. The menu had a great variety of options, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, making it the perfect place for a memorable meal. I can't wait to go back and try more of their dishes. Highly recommended! ❤️ Foodie Android(Gaurav Kapoor)

The food was good and they have delicious margaritas.. the service was not so great our server in the patio area did not come often we had to flag down a server to order more drinks and the check.
Great place, will need to come back and try more of their dishes. Went for taco Tuesday they have $2 tacos and $3 beer... Al pastor tacos are 50¢ more and really worth it! The carne asada was nothing special so took away a star for that (a Mexican places carne asada should be on point) and the fact that they only have one toilet...no not each one toilet for the whole place.. super lame to wait in line to use it at a restaurant.
The food did not disappoint. The presentation was spectacular. Our waitress was very hospitable. She gave us a few recommendations from the menu, including margarita drinks.. The atmosphere is generic, low light, and compact.
1st timer - Heard music I love before entering this charming decorated restaurant. Loved the adorable staff. Tasty salsas and chips. The plate I had was delicious - Mole Rosa, 🌹 . I will definitely return. I always take pictures of what I enjoy eating and this time I didn't, darn. Definitely, next time!
We came with a large group on a Taco Tuesday and the place was hopping. The food was mostly good and tacos were a decent size especially for the special taco Tuesday price. some inconsistencies were in the salsa. Since we had a large table, we had multiple salsas on it, and the one flavor salsa on one side of the table was so salty it was inedible compared to the same flavor on the other side which was our favorite. We enjoyed the fact they had a mole sampler and there were many options for the vegetarians in the group. We ordered a ton of food and only had enough leftovers for 1 so we'd recommend.
Delicious takeout! I’ve also been in person several times and it was a great experience. I got the Chile verde bowl, which has pork and egg - great lunch! Not really spicy at all, but delicious. Really flavorful and fatty pork, which I loved. Also got a side order of plantains (small size) which were excellent! The order comes with chips and a guacamole-ranch type of sauce which was just okay, not my favorite dip.. I would have preferred regular salsa. Also, it seems my tortillas were forgotten. But overall a positive experience and great food.
bigger burrito, bigger flavour 🙂↕️; lola's is such a vibe spot on 4th street, the perfect pitstop after some vintage shopping. prices were nicer than i thought, very friendly-helpful staff, and the mole burrito is an absolute unit in both size and flavour: the chicken had a lovely char-roast smokeiness, a soulful-piquant verde sauce, though i do wish there were more red onions for the crunchy texture-diversity.
Lola's ended up being a happy accident for us. We originally had plans to eat at Ammatoli, but they had an unexpected emergency closure due to a plumbing issue bummer at first, but it worked out for the best because we had an amazing meal at Lola's. We were a party of four, and everyone had been here a few times before except me, so I was excited to finally check it out. Here's what we ordered: Special of the Day: Pork Shank with Green Mole Sauce - My bf ordered this and really enjoyed it. The plate was HUGE. If you're considering this, just know it can easily be shared by 2-3 people. Mexico City Street Corn - Shared by the table and it was just okay. Salmon Tacos - Light, flavortul, and nicely balanced. A great option if you're in the mood for something a little lighter but still satistying. Mango Avocado Salad with Grilled Shrimp - My order and it was fantastic. So much flavor, perfectly balanced ,10/10 and an easy favorite. Cochinita Pibil - My gf's go-to order. Regular & Mango Margaritas - Both were tasty and well made. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and I can see how this place could easily get packed, especially during HH. I unfortunately can't recall our server's name, but she did a fantastic job, and all the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. Great food, fun atmosphere, and a save-the-night kind of dinner. We’ll definitely be back!
We live pretty close to Lola's and have been wanting to try it, so Saturday morning, we rolled up with no wait, smiling faces, with a flavorful secret waiting to be shared. The food was fresh and fragrant, perfectly wrapped around spice for the wholesome mexican bite. The salsa was very memorable. It had soul-bright, smokey, and made with love. Our server had the best dimples and smile that was intoxicating, and she didn't just serve the food. She served us with comfort and familiarity. Can't wait to try more.

The food is good but not great. I might just be spoiled and know what traditional Mexican food should taste like but again this is good. Good flavor and the service is amazing. The servers had great recommendations like the tamal and enchiladas. We also had a hibiscus margarita which was tasty! We sat outside in the patio with the heater which was really nice. There weren't too many people on a Friday night.
Ordered delivery; al pastor mulitas, 3 potato taquitos and the creamy green salsa. The taquitos were great, perfectly cooked. The green salsa matches up perfectly with this. To slice it up, add that darker red salsa! Now let's get to the mulitas. The meat was great, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The mulita itself wasn't great. 2 came in the order, but 1 would have been fine.... Instead of cooking the cheese inside the tortilla (making it a MULITA) instead, the cheese is cooked OUTSIDE the tortilla.... The black beans, mango (it's alright), and al pastor are jumbling around this. I ate one fully and couldn't handle the second set of dry cheese tortillas. Wouldn't order mulitas again here...
Food was eclectic and healthy. This is my first time here and I ordered the Bixby Knolls burrito which was nothing but rice cheese and chicken. Everyone around me had much better looking burritos and honestly mine was too dry for me to finish. Nevertheless the ambience and location was pretty good not to mention the IPA which was really really good. It's one thing to offer a non-vegan menu but it's quite another thing to offer really well tasting food that is non-vegan....and you guys know that California Mexican food is definitely hard to play with:-).

I've been to this Lola's location on several occasions and have enjoyed the food, ambiance, and service...until today. Jose (tall Caucasian guy with curly hair) was our server, and he was horrible …
Came for a good time and left with a bad taste in my mouth(literally and metaphorically). The food was bland, the server Andrea forced us to pay and was extremely rude to my friends while I was gone. I was actually gonna treat my friends to lunch but since I left to handle a work call, she rudely forced them to pay. The manager Taylor didn't allow us to get two more beers due to "having too many drinks". Mind you, we were fine and engaging in normal conversation and were a big group. I complained about the pitcher of margarita that we ordered as we only got 2 servings out of it when the menu said 4 servings and was unheard and ignored by the server and shift lead Andrea. It was all uncalled for, even after spending nearly $500 in the restaurant. It felt like discrimination as it was a group of Latino's and African Americans. Don't go here if you're trying to have a good time and have good service or trying to have your complaints heard. They'll just ignore you and discriminate. Go spend your money where you'll actually be heard and appreciated but most importantly not discriminated. All should be treated equal and this is not the place for it.
I just dined at Lola's, party of 3. The service was slow and pretty average. At the end they automatically added 35usd (18% gratuity) to our bill. Like really? Thats illegal unless it is verbally expressed or written. The worse part is that I would have left more than that if the service was worth it. Anyhow i will be calling Amex.
if you are brown stay away from this place because you will be mistreated even though you pay full price for everything. Horrible experience. Couldnt believe it. Ew. I couldnt even enjoy our food after. The bartender was cool tho. And the food is good, but overall the atmosphetlre felt heavy and i couldnt wait to get the out of there!
